reichmuth is in the weather center. we get an update from the hurricane center every hour. >> we just got the update at 8:00, and the full advisory will be 11:00 p.m. no change to the sustained wind. we are at 185-mile-an-hour sustained winds. it's moving forward at 5 miles an hour. one thing that changed, the barometric pressure has come up. maybe a little bit of weakening that will go through an eyewall replacement cycle that will cause the wind speed to go up and down and fluctuate a little bit. that doesn't mean it will be a weaker storm necessarily. it just means we'll see a little bit of fluctuation. due west, not changing its trajectory. as it does that. you get the idea.

it looks text book of a tirk as we have seen really in this part of the world. you see the eye cutting over the islands here and we have a lot of people who went out and took video of that damage as when they are in the eye, and the back side of it is coming in. i want to explain what we are dealing with forecast-wise. this is the storm. that is dorian. this yellow is high pressure to the north of it. the high pressure doesn't let you are move toward the north. what we are forecasting is this high pressure weakens a little bit. and that happens from a system over western canada by tuesday, forecasting it to be across parts of the northern -- northern plains. that will allow the storm to move up towards the north and across the outer banks and maybe

towards the canadian maritimes. the forecast is something out there across parts of western canada right now. what that does, and where this makes a turn is difficult. unfortunately the difference is one way or another has big implications. everybody at this point crossing the eastern seaboard needs to be prepared for some sort of impacts. it's too difficult to say exactly where that line goes. >> how the far would that eye have to stay offshore? it looks like they will get hit either way. >> we'll probably seed hurricane-force winds at minimum 50 miles offshore. if it goes 30 miles offshore for sure we'll see those kind of winds. if it goes 10 miles offshore we'll have the eyewall causing damage. >> we'll be back and check in
