mistakes. >> mr. secretary, for average folks in layman's terms, how do these changes affect their engagement with the housing market? >> bell well, we're talking wite services with the people who actually make the loans versus the people who provide the insurance for the loans, fort gaj, banks, securities in the way they service people, in terms of what they look at before they foreclose on an individual. we have something we call a waterfall of options. we're requiring people to go through all of those things and not just go straight to foreclosure. and those are the kinds of things that i think will improve the quality of people's lives. part of the american dream is home ownership. and that's what we're looking to affordable housing, you know, the president signed an executive order creating the council to remove the barriers and examine the barrier to affordable housing.

this as time to step back. jedediah: i think a lot of people were happy to see him cancel that. one thing that always comes up is people ask me oftentimes what the distinction is between you have isis, al qaeda, the taliban in terms of whether or not you could trust any of those groups of people to sit down at a negotiation table and follow through on their word is there a distinction to be made there? pete: no. they will lie to your face and they feel justified based on their few of their religious faith to lie to your face in order to justify their view of the world so you can't trust these guys at all and if they are still on the offensive and they feel like they have the momentum which the taliban think s they do, then you're not going to get a good deal and yesterday on the program we have two guys, sean parnell, and joey jones on our program talking about afghanistan and this is before we found out the peace talks were off. this is what sean parnell had to say. >> how can you have a peace deal when peace is not a part of it? this deal, the biggest red flag

their imagination. i think it's one of the biggest problems we're seeing. pete: larry, yes it's a great point. sometimes i feel guilty but not really on planes i know my kids have devices i make them sit there and color and talk to each other. is it simple things like that that pulls them away from their view of themselves and one screen and to engage the world? >> i do believe it's a whole list of very simple things, pete i think that parents need to step in and remember that kids need to be encouraged to play and make friends and have fun, but again, society isn't even telling school systems they can't have recess where kids go out and play tag and fall down and get scraped up and learn how to win and more importantly learn how to lose and then we're surprised they want to play adult recess and do all those very same things once they become a little more independent , get some money and get free type, they want to go play tag and have adult recess instead at three years old we stick $1,000 computer in

lead deputy who happened to be one of my sargents in charge of this team and fortunately he did not see the second deputy because i think it was because the second deputy was to return fire to cause this guy to quit shooting and forced him to flee the area. ed: let's get not heart of the matter which is the california sanctuary law and you've been outspoken about this it says among other things california law enforcement agency shall not use agency or department moneys or personnel to investigate, interrogate, detain, detect, or arrest persons for immigration enforcement purposes. we go through this all the time. we hear politicians some types tell us well you're exam raging these laws it doesn't really have the impact you're suggesting. you're on the frontlines, sheriff. what is this law doing to your people and to your own deputies now. >> well you know, for years, i've been with the sheriffs office going on 40 years, and we have never taken a proactive response to searching out and

ambassador, working and talking to the taliban, and there have been rumors about will it happen will it not happen so these tweets came out at 6:51 p.m. last night if you didn't see them president trump tweeted with three of them started with this one, unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major taliban leaders and separately the president of o afghanistan were going to secretly meet with me at camp david on sunday coming to the united states tonight. unfortunately in order to build false leverage, they admitted to an attack in kabul that killed one of our great, great soldiers and 11 other people. jedediah: and that tweet continued i immediately canceled the meeting and called off peace negotiations. what kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position? they didn't. they only made it worse. ed: the president is saying if they cannot agree to a cease fire during these very important peace talks would kill 12 innocent people they don't have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway how many more decades are they willing to fight? fair points from the president taking heat for contemplating all of this and i think he took a close look a clear-eyed look
