of up to the baltimore ravens over the weekend. i think the receiving yards number. >> dana: i've got to run but one of these days if you will come and explain the over/under think i i've never understood it. thanks, clay my thanks for joining us and here is shepard smith. >> shepard: breaking news happening now, the president speaking to reporters at the white house before a trip to go in the marine one. he's talking everything from his decision and talks with the taliban reportedly scheduled for camp david to the border crisis. the crisis in the bahamas. we will bring you those comments as soon as we get the video. again the president is still speaking. it shouldn't be but a few more minutes and you will hear it in its entirety coming up at first, four people trapped inside of a massive cargo ship capsized off the coast of georgia. the coast guard trying to get them out communicating through a hole drilled in the sight of that ship. anan end official now says this moment the crewmembers are all
12:01 pm
alive but getting them out is proving to be extremely difficult. we are waiting for the coast guard to give an update on the situation within the hour. know where it held the crewmembers are doing really. the coast guard reports it plans to drill another hole to deliver supplies. it's already been more than 36 hours since crew members on the boat called for help. the ship is to cofootball fields long. it flipped on its side leaving the port of brunswick and saint simons sound 35 miles north of jacksonville. that happened about 2:00 in the morning. it was overnight yesterday. the shipping route now shut down to all traffic, fire and smoke erupted from the boat known as the golden rate after it capsized. the coast guard crews rescued by helicopter but those four crewmembers apparently had no way to get out. they are from south korea in the country and -- the country's foreign ministry reported they are stuck in an engine room where the temperature is reported to be 90 degrees.
12:02 pm
that ship is transporting or was transporting vehicles. there are thousands of them on board right now. rescuer said they heard tapping coming from inside the ship so they tapped back, but the missing crewmembers know they were still searching for them. a witness told the brunswick news he was on a peer nearby when it all happened. he saw another ship coming in at the time the golden ray was leaving. they were passing each other when the south korean ship just flipped over. trace gallagher is live with us. trace. >> and, right now, food, water and other supplies and also allow more air to calm things down a bit, but there's a big difference between drawing a -- drilling a small hole and getting the men out because concerns like generating too many. but as you said, there has been fires on board and nobody knows what types of flammable gases might be around. plus you mention 4,000 high on

debt and kia cars on board, thoe cars clearly compromised, positioning and the last thing r those cars to ship again and pushed the 656-foot vessel even further upside down or on the side saying "one salvage professionals have determined the vessel to be stable, we will identify the best option to continue rescue efforts for the four crewmembers who remain on board." there is also the language barrier with the four crewmembers south korean nationals. the coast guard has had a few times, this rescue will be slow and safe, but right now, time is on their side. >> shepard: are they sure how this tip happened? >> no, they are not. they have not ruled out whether but as we all know hurricane dorian was long gone before this happened. the first dispatch came in sunday morning saying that ship had begun lifting heavy to the port side. then within moments, it was
12:04 pm
overturned. it is unusual because the golden ray is a start of state-of-the-art cargo ship built two years ago. for now the busy port of brunswick is shut down more than 600,000 cars are shipped through this channel each year and so for the ship itself does not appear to be releasing a lot of pollutants into the water, but then again, the atlantic journal-constitution is reporting there is a small strong of gas in the area and the crews are working on removing the ship's fuel and then using booms and barriers to kind of contain any leak. right now, what we have is this exciting adventure underway but of course that was the old movie. and we cannot find that type of rescue happening in real life. but they are going about doing this, the coast guard to hold a news conference in about 26 minutes. we should get a lot more information how they plan to attack this thing at that time. >> trace, thank you so much.

>> shepard: the president when he is speaking in just a moment but this is a live look of the senate, day one of the new semester, and back at work. they have a lot to tackle but first they have to spend -- past spending bills and federal funding to run out at the end of this month. lawmakers also to take action on gun safety after mass shootings. four of them during the recess killed more than 50 people in the month of august alone. in the white house calling for congress to approve a trade deal with candidate mexico to replace nafta. all of this as lawmakers divided over democrat lead investigations into president trump. his business dealings and his administration policies. chris reporting on capitol hill, kristen. >> the house judiciary committee formalizing its impeachment investigation and the committee chairman jerry nadler announced a vote on thursday to set the

12:07 pm
she wants the senate to pass the background check bill that just past the house but to do that, it would require senate majority leader mitch mcconnell to put that bill up for a vote and so far, he is refusing to do so and unless he knows 100% certainty that president trump would sign off on it. he says he's not going to do it until he gets word from president trump. pelosi and chuck schumer sent a letter to president trump, "you're a gem personal infant -- invention -- intervention with fellow americans by gunfire." another priority for speaker pelosi the democrats to get a good deal on the spending bills which need to pass by the end of the month. if republicans and democrats do not reach a deal or pass some kind of short-term extension, then the government will shut down again in just three weeks, shep. >> shepard: kristin fisher life from capitol hill,

discussion with reporters from the white house. "night court" >> president trump: , he is the biggest man in soccer and we are, as you probably know, getting the world cup in 2026 to the united states. some of it is a partnership with mexico and canada. and it is coming into the united states for a large percentage of the game. we are very excited about it, plus johnny and i signed a meeting on women's soccer and what everybody is going to do to make that even better and more equitable, et cetera, et cetera. johnny, thank you very much. we had a great meeting. and we are getting to the world cup in 2026. that is a big thing, johnny my thank you for being here. >> thank you very much, thank you. >> mx to boost even more soccer in this country, soccer is the number one global sport, the

12:14 pm
as far as i'm concerned they are dead. they thought they had to kill people in order to put themselves in a better negotiating position. when they did that come with a killed 12 people and what happened to be a great american soldier. a wonderful young man from puerto rico. his family is from puerto rico. you can't do that. you can't do that with me. so they are dead as far as i'm concerned. and we have hit the tele- taliban and over ten years. that is the way it is. nico say what? >> president trump: know, in terms of advisors my like the idea of meeting. i met with a lot of bad people and a lot of good people during the course of the last almost three years, and i think meeting is a great thing. and you are talking about war. there are meetings with war otherwise wars would never end. you would have been going forever. we had a meeting scheduled.
12:15 pm
it was my idea, and it was my idea to terminate it. i didn't discuss it with anybody else. when i heard, very simply, that they killed one of our soldiers and 12 other innocent people, i said "there is no way i'm meeting on that basis. there is no meeting" they made a mistake. and by the way they are telling people they made a big mistake. they are saying it loud and clear that they made a big mistake. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: camp david holds meetings with a lot of people and pretty tough customers and pretty bad people. there have been plenty of so-called bad people brought up to camp david for meetings. in the alternative with the white house and you would not be happy with that either. so camp david would have been a good place, but i don't want to meet under circumstances where they go around and try to make themselves a little bit more important by killing a soldier,
12:16 pm
by killing actually also a great native soldier in addition to our soldier, and also a total of 12 people. i don't want that. but camp david has had many meetings, and i guess people would not have considered politically correct, yes, steve. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: we are looking at that, and we are thinking about that. as we have said, we have been policing them for a long time. the government will have to take responsibility or do whatever they do. i have been saying from the campaign, that we want to get out at the earliest possible time. we are doing a very good job. our soldiers are incredible, but they are serving as policeman to a large extent. i just made a statement on it. we would like to get out, but we will get out at the right time. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: what? >> [inaudible]

>> president trump: india and pakistan are having a conflict over kashmir as you know. it's a little less heated than it was two weeks ago. and i'm willing to help them. i get along with both countries very well. i'm willing to help them if they want. they know that is out there, david. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: you know, i don't even know who they are other than i know, i guess, i guess you could say no, but i don't know them. i don't know them. i would say this, they are all less than 1%. i guess the publicity stunt. we just got a little while ago 94% popularity, our approval rating within the republican party. so to be honest, i'm not looking to give them any credibility. they have no credibility. one was a person that voted for obama, the vice president -- ran as the vice president for

the loopholes which are there, as i say, they could do it in 1d of the loopholes and fix asylum. but they don't want to do it. the democrats want open borders. it means crime, it means drugs commit means human trafficking, and that is what they want. if they want to run on that, they can run on that, but our people, a lot of people in this country and i would say a very large percentage of people, they don't want to have crossings illegal. they don't want to have open borders. they want to have a strong border. and i've always said, without a border we don't have a country. and without a country come i will tell you what, without that border being strong, we are securing the border like it hasn't been before. when the wall is built in its moving rapidly right now, it is moving very rapidly, the lawsuit wins, the legals went, we have one a lot. we have one a lot and the courts the last year. if you look at the beginning, we were losing, and we will have
12:24 pm
180 judges approved over the next three or four weeks. at 180. when i came in president obama gave us a beautiful gift. he gave us 138 judges, but he wasn't able to get in or didn't fix anybody or couldn't get them approved. 138. i took that, and now when you add the other ones that came through, other things that have happened, we will have about 180 judges approved very, very quickly. >> >> how is the election in north carolina? how important is that? >> president trump: dan bishop is a great gentleman, a great man. i think he's going to be a great congressman. it was a very close race. i think it's getting less clothes. if you look at the numbers from two weeks ago, and i got involved about two weeks ago. the numbers have gone way up. i think dan has a good chance of winning the election. again, i'm not running but i have a lot of respect for dan

bishop. i'm going there to help him campaign. we will be doing a big rally tonight. totally sold out as always. every single one, totally sold out. there will be a lot of people outside trying to get in. but it's all in honor of dan bishop, north carolina. i hope they will go out and vote. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: it could happen. no problem with me. iran should straighten out because frankly, they are in a bad position right now and they should straighten it out. because they could straighten it out very easy. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: i know nothing about it but i see the cia responded perfectly. whatever the cia said is fine with me. i heard they responded perfectly. i know nothing. >> >> the gun control -- how are you doing back in control? >> president trump: we are talking -- dealing with
12:26 pm
democrats, and we are dealing with republicans. we are dealing with gun control but we are talking about a lot of different things but we have to protect our second amendment strongly. and we will always do that. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: my decision was to have a meeting and i said, you know what's come i don't like the concept of having it at the white house. that would be a step too far. but there have been many powerful meetings at camp david having to do with enemies, real enemies, very big enemies, war. and i thought camp david would be good, and i still do. the only reason that i cancel that meeting is because they killed one of our soldiers and they killed a total of 12 people trying to build up their importance. they think that is important except to me it backfired. and they are very upset. they feel that they blew it. they said it loud and clear.
12:27 pm
they feel they made a big mistake by doing what they did. >> your administration looking at human smuggling operations at the border and terrorist organizations? >> president trump: we are looking very much at human smuggling. if you look at trafficking, they call it, and if you look at what is going on with the human trafficking, we are bringing it down to a much lower level. it should have been done for years and years, but we are bringing human trafficking as you can see by the numbers, we are bringing it down. mostly, it affects women and children. it is a terrible thing that has been going on for many years. and we are bringing it down. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: well, it just came out over the wires that they would like to have a meeting. i have a very good relationship with kim jong un. and it just came out. i saw it as i'm coming out here.
12:28 pm
it just came out that they would like to meet. we will see what happens, but i always say having meetings is a good thing, not a bad thing. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: no, i'm not. let people go in and help. the bahamas got it like no thing that i've ever seen. i've never seen a hurricane -- it was like a massive tornado more than a hurricane. it got hit like nothing i've ever seen. anybody that wants to help, it is okay with me. i think it is a good thing. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: that is always the question, how do you define victory. we beat them militarily, but as soon as we leave, it seems to form again. we would beat them easily militarily if we wanted to buy doing certain things. i'm not talking nuclear. we could have that over with very, very rapidly, but you would lose millions and millions of lives and i don't want to do
12:29 pm
that. i have to stand as a very interesting situation. we have been there for 19 years, 19 years. and we are not really policeman in afghanistan. so what is happening is this, we are talking to the government. we are talking to a lot of different people. we will see i canceled camp david on the basis they did something they sure as hell should not have done. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: no, i don't see the bellwether. that we see that question. you never talk about the fact as an example in '18, that we want the senate, nobody talks about that. the senate being very important because that's how i'm getting all the judges approved. it doesn't go through the house. it goes through the senate. so i'm getting all these judges. we will be up to 180 judges plus two supreme court judges. and i don't know if there's ever been a record like that. president obama gave me a
12:30 pm
beautiful birthday president -- present when he gave me 138 judt were not approved. frankly how do you consider that being a great president when yo8 slots of federal judges including appellate court judges in one supreme court judge? that is the story. when we have two supreme court justices, and we will have in a very short number of weeks, 180 judges approved including appellate. that is a number from 180 that while easy and very rapidly go for 200. i don't think there's been anything like it. >> [inaudible] what is the number of troops in afghanistan? >> president trump: would never tell you, i will tell some people but i would never tell you. we have a very specific number. we have a very specific number.
12:31 pm
>> [inaudible] >> president trump: look, i have to run. here is what it is. i think we did great anna '18 because the congressman, like andy barr, kentucky and others that i campaigned for, they won. andy barr was behind. i went to kentucky. i campaigned for him. i held one or two rallies, and the great state of kentucky brought him in. by the way, the same person we defeated there is now running against mitch mcconnell for the senate. and he's going to win. he's going to win. kentucky is an incredible place. they know they give up the most powerful man in the united states senate for a freshman senator. you just don't do it. kentucky is very smart. they know exactly what they are doing, but i campaigned for senators. we were supposed to lose the senate according to some of you. we ended up picking up two seats, which was fantastic. i get no credit for that. if we didn't pick up those two
12:32 pm
seats, i just told you we will have 180 judges approved. we wouldn't have had most any judges approved from the point of the election. and so we are very happy with the way we have done. the '18 election i was not running. people say, oh, it was a referendum of trauma. it wasn't. i'm not running. people are running. but i will go help dan fisher. i will be there in a little while, and i assume some of you i will be seeing. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: i haven't found out other than when a plane stops at a massive international airport and gets fuel, i don't own the airport. when pilots, i own a lot of different places. soon, you will find that out because i will be at some point prior to the election, i will be giving out a financial report of me. and it will be extremely
12:33 pm
complete. i'm going to give out my financial condition. and you will be extremely shocked at the numbers many, many times what you think. i don't need to have somebody take a room overnight at a hotel. so what is happening is the following: every time you find a person landing in an airplane within 500 miles of something i own, mike pence, as an example, his family lives in -- he actually told me he stayed there many years ago. but he was there before i bought it, i believe, he said. a long time ago. but he was in ireland and so he said you know what i will do come i will see my family. i didn't know about that. but i can say, he has good taste. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: i had nothing to do with that. no, because look, three people are a total joke. they are a joke. they are a laughingstock.
12:34 pm
i have nothing to do. the four states that canceled it don't want to waste their money. if there was a raise, they would certainly want to do that, but they are considered to be a laughing stock. they are considered to be a joke. those four states don't want to waste our money. having primary campaigns and a primary election is very expensive. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: we haven't discussed it and i'm not looking to discuss it. we hit the taliban and our enemy, and in over ten years. so i'm not discussing anything. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: one of the things is i disagree with the republican system. when you are the chairman of a committee, we have lost chairman because they can't go from being a chairman back to being a regular congressman or woman. when you are the chairman of a
12:35 pm
committee, the democrats, you can stay there forever. like danny moyer and others. which is a good man, by the way. but like a lot of them. they are there forever. as a republican, you get six years. what happens come after they are finished they leave. i understand that. frankly, there is good to be said about both and bad to be said about both to use the famous expression. but let me just tell you, your grade. one of the only things i agree with the democrats on, i think it is better to have a longer term. >> [inaudible] >> president trump: we have to stop the international technology at best. if you look at what is going on from intellectual property with china, just so you understand, our country is doing phenomenally well. you know, there is a chance, i don't want to talk about it, but over a very short period of time
12:36 pm
that will hit yet a new record, 118 records by hitting the top stock market. two weeks ago, the fake news was trying to convince people that may be, there is a possibility for a recession. well, a lot of things that have happened that are positive. we are doing well against china and we could very well have a new high in the stock market. we have gained trillions of dollars of worth, and china has lost many, many trillions of dollars, including 3 million jobs, including companies that are leaving china. yes, they want to negotiate very badly, thank you, thank you. thank you. be when the president as you said leaving for a campaign rally in north carolina. before that, he will visit a hard-hit spot although we don't know the specifics of that from the hurricane. i guess the biggest news of the day has to do with the taliban at camp david idea. the president said when he said i didn't discuss it with anybody, i believe he was talking about calling it off.
12:37 pm
and that sort of stands to the reporting. this has said to be gun ten days ago when a cold aid together and said "look, let's try to work out a deal here." but the afghans a government supported by the united states and the taliban terrorist organizations according to the united states in a room together never seem like it was something that was going to work to those on the inside of all of this. but the president was trying to get this to happen, to bring them to camp david, but he called it off after the suicide bomb attack that killed a soldier, native soldier and 11 others. john roberts was at the white house listening with us. john, as chris rawlins over the weekend, who thought it was a good idea to bring head of terrorist organization to camp david three days before the commemoration of 9/11? >> president trump thought it was a good idea. and he thought it was a good idea because last week the former u.s. ambassador to afghanistan said that they were very close to putting a deal together. the president thought it would
12:38 pm
