like tenants and tenant advocates. at work and to that throughout california. now, the estimates are that you quadruple the amount of housing starts in california or seven years or to just catch up with the demand and stop the prices from going out of control. this new law is going to ensure that landlords and investors take their money and invest in other states. with the property deteriorate, and otherwise scented in the other direction, at the disaster, laura, and it makes no sense. >> laura: we know what the scam that it was in some little pockets of new york. but can you defend? >> in this case, i do, it's because we have an explosion and rent in california which leads to one of the top issues. homelessness, we have people losing jobs and are immediately kicked out of their apartment. look, i'm not going to disagree with small landlords, i have friends who are investors and

developers. i talked to many of them. we need to streamline rent. with rent control, but families and housing and not living in cars with the rent increases that are happening. >> laura: she shaking her head there. >> it keeps family and housing that is in their and the fact that we have rent control isn't going to go those families. into apartments, that's not the apartments, they are like $3,000 for one apartment and that's going to be the case regardless. we have laws like solar and new housing, we have restrictions, not in my backyard, so following housing here, transportation, as a result of that we have the 48th lowest in the nation ratio of housing to the demand. none of that going though mike is going to be changed by rent control. we have to get rid of those regulations and were nowhere near that.
