it goes on the more dangerous it is for everyone. it was a war started by saudi arabia and u.s. military does not want to be in it and no one else wants to be in it and maybe this is a chance to turn that around because if it goes on it will make matters worse. let me say this about yemen. and had civil wars and internal conflicts going back to the 1950s, long before there was an islamic republic. the saudi's owned allies and anti- iran allies are fighting each other on the ground in yemen right now but the country has fought for ever so yes, iran and saudi arabia as part of this, no doubt about it, but they can go away tomorrow will be a yemen - let's not go overboard. eric: certainly complicated, confusing and quite friendly, a mess but as you said it seems we are on the edge of a new era of warfare. coming down from the sky.

candidates of the democratic candidates need to self policies for people and if it's policy what is it that americans want? >> no question that many democrats would like to see a strong leader, someone that cannot only articulate the values of the democratic party that can unite the country so they are looking for a week. anybody but trump movement is a strong movement in this country but not enough to win the nomination. it's enough to win the nomination but not the presidency. we need both b2 what is it that the people want? what should the party be selling? >> they want to hear candidates talk about healthcare and climate change and talk about guns and gun violence and how do we reduce that in this country and more portly they want an economy that works for all people not just the top 10%. arthel: should they be more specific about why or how they think the president is not working? >> the president ran on a platform in 2016 and promised to bring about america renewal in

our economy is strong and he inherited a good economy from president obama and made improvements but people are worried about the tariff and the fight he's having with the chinese and worried that that will slow down our economy. i think democrats need to walk and chew gum. they need to talk about how they will do better but at the same time they better make sure they can present a vision for the future. arthel: one of the candidates, mayor pete was on the state of the union with jake tapper, let's listen. >> it all we have to offer is to dial it back and go back to what we were doing and if it feels like were looking at the past i think that message will come up short. arthel: how do you blend what worked in the past with bold ideas to move towards a changing future? back majority of americans are dissatisfied with the direction

of the country and they won't change. they want a candidate who represents the future in terms of policies as well as the practicality of trying to get legislation through congress in leading a diverse country. i think mayor pete is right and they are looking for change and a new direction and we know the president, at this point, cannot be the change we are looking for but the democrats had to step up and make sure they are the change in the mac and people are willing to go. arthel: pardon me, but comfort is one thing but how do we move and you got to have bold ideas to move forward? that's what they're not selling. >> i think his ideas are bold. arthel: but to bold. >> look, i'm a great fan of the second amendment but also believe we can have sensible gun control and gun safety measures so that were not using weapons of war on our streets each and every day. i do believe our healthcare system is still broken and people are saying pain so much out of pocket and not able to

get the coverage they need and we can have a sensible conversation on these issues without going too far in one direction. arthel: healthcare is a big deal and strikes every family. i'm wondering if you feel the democrats have done enough on the campaign trail candidates to speak about blending what has worked in the past and how do we move forward? >> as you can tell from the debate that was the biggest conversation when joe biden defended obamacare and said will give a public option but mr. castro said well, what do you mean by that two minutes ago. mr. castro had his bad song but at the same time the president was able to defend his position because he took on bernie sanders. joe biden walked into that room with pep in a stop and not leave with a lot of pep and walked in and said to both senator sanders as well as senator warren that their proposals would be too costly and probably unattainab unattainable. arthel: that's what i'm saying how do they find the middle? we what we want because i wanted to bring that up for short but

let's talk about dc. democrats can't seem to agree on semantics. inquiry versus investigation as it pertains to impeachment or going there. does this interfere with what the candidates are doing on the campaign trail or is it to separate connect. >> only one candidate that has made his campaign impeachment and that is mr. tom spier who will be on the debate stage next month but house democrats are looking for a path, it's not the words that matter but what matters is that they won't like to see the executive branch of government cooperate in the investigation. if that occurs that maybe the end of it but if that does not occur then they are going on to the litigation phase meaning they will go to court to comply with witnesses to testify but we will see the former campaign manager but donald trump corey louis dusty to come before the hill and will see if he will cooperate or plead the fifth amendment.

arthel: we're talking about direction of the party and i want you to tell everyone how you see it in terms of the direction that is your party a democratic party going to go center middle or up far left? >> the majority of democrats are moderate to [inaudible] so while we have a vigorous healthy and let's just say loud and very organized progressive wing of our party they are more populous. i get these calls about socialism and yes we have social some country and they are paying taxes but in terms of the democratic majority of democrats are moderate to conservative the very strong populist progressive lane that is making strides within the party. arthel: i will not listen to ask you to endorse a candidate but i want you to tell me who inched closer to the nomination thursday night? >> it takes 1885 delegates to secure the nomination and that is without the so-called automatic delegates or
