additional seats, it feels that he will get first nod, anything can happen in israel and voters on the ground will tell you it's a surprise. eric: overdoses that happened inside pittsburgh apartments, victims were told orange paper wristbands which led authorities to question that there could be widespread product if they all attended the same effect and narcotics involved may have been tainted. jacqui heinrich. >> police asking the public for tips when people were given orange bands, police found one man dead on the street in pittsburgh's south side and another semiconscious in an apartment building, later discovered 5 more victims inside an apartment in the same

building, two of them were already dead, police say it appears all the victims went to an event together where they were given orange wristbands and went to private residents where they all took narcotics at the same time, no concerns the drugs were distributed at the venue, police are concerned of deadly batch of drugs circulating in the community. police have not said what kind of narcotics the victims took, dr. michael pathologist and say fentanyl is a common killer. >> many times the person does not know that it's in the mixture that they purchase as usual from -- from a drug dealer, but now it's been added without them knowing it. >> local media is reporting the victims are all men in their 40's and 50's and the complex where it happened south side work city apartments is a nicer building with several amenities like a pool and roof deck with cabanas, pittsburgh

what's the political fallout of all of this in. >> well, i think the political call fallout is what we saw in the tweet from mitt romney a second ago when you have a senator criticizing the sitting president of his -- of his own party, you see that something has possibly been under here, imagine for a moment if donald trump had not made phone call, we don't know exactly what happened, we haven't seen transcripts, still a lot of questions, imagine if president trump had kept this as political matter and not brought in sort of geopolitics, hadn't pressured anyone else, he would be able attack biden campaign and hunter biden what appears to be unethical behavior from now until next november but by pushing ukrainian officials to go with their investigation, now there are questions about what president trump did and takes the focus away from hunter biden. >> well, the president says he acted appropriately and he's trying to get to the bottom of what he thinks is wrongdoing and collusion, ukrainian alleged

collusion but that involving the bidens, although, you know, others say that investigation that ended long before this all happened with the hunter-biden and that company. >> welshing what's interesting about this is regardless of how this does and up, the underlying question is what was hunter biden doing for this petroleum company, if you remember for a moment, hunter biden doesn't have a background in petroleum, he doesn't have a background in ukraine and doesn't have much of a background in the energy industry, hunter biden was there for all intents and purposes, it seems from what we can tell right now because his father was vice president and let's not forget between 2008 and 2016 ukraine was constantly in the news and the obama administration was doing a lot of work there on the ground. so this is a sticky situation and it's one where biden is going to have to answer continually.

eric:ly get to family issues in a second, if the former vice president is continually asked about this over the next few weeks, what does that do to his former lead in iowa? >> right, we just saw some polling showing that elizabeth warren has actually surpassed joe biden in iowa right now but to your point when joe biden is answering questions about ukraine, when he's answering questions about his own son he's not able to push forward with the message of american renewal that he has started his campaign on, but what's so interesting about all of this is that joe biden started this campaign by saying that he was the guy who would go toe to toe with donald trump, you wanted a brawler to take on the president, joe biden seemed to be saying, well, that was him, the thing, though, of all of the political landscape that he's probably most uneasy on it's on this one right now and so there's a lot of questions that he has to answer before he can, you know, throw a hay-maker at the administration. >> they what about your son

hunter biden, why was he work if r the company when you pulled a billion and you boosted a billion dollars, biden will say because of western nations and the eu, everyone wanted the prosecutor out of there because he wasn't doing a good job and was corrupt, who wins in that because no matter how many times you say, i did it for good reasons, some people will only hear the other side. >> that's true and this is definitely going to be a question of perception here, you know, it's a cliché but it's true when you're explaining you're losing and i think that for any candidate who is going to have to talk about not just a prosecutor but, you know, a prosecutor in a different country and talk about how his family was involved, it gets dicey quickly, it's going to be very difficult for joe biden and we can already imagine what will happen if he's on stage tote to toe -- toe to toe with trump, the president will say hey,

there's no there there in the mueller investigation, why didn't you support that investigation but now you're not giving us the answers about your own son, we can see a scenario playing out and that would be something that a lot of voters would take notice of. eric: what is it about family member it was president, you get elected president, billy beard, remember billy carter and the libyans planes and, you know, lobbying and accusations or criticism among some for ivanka trump for making stuff over in china and fashion line and that sort of thing, you can't control your relatives, your family is your family, or you can if you're a top-level official of the country. >> absolutely. the thing that sort of -- the fly in the ointment here is i think a lot of voters think, well, we voted for this president, well, we voted for this vice president, we didn't vote for their extended members

of their family to go to washington and enjoy the spoils and i think that's grading to voters who are tired of how things have played out here, are tired that a lot of decision-making doesn't just happen in congress at the white house but happens over and they know that these relationships and the familiar relationships are getting leveraged to make big decisions and make a lot of money and this is something that i don't think voters are going to turn the other eye on. eric: the lobbying headquarters thought of by the way because you mentioned ukrainian pressure, yike rannian prime minister said, they must prove it, i know what the conversation was about and i do not think there was any pressure from u.s. president donald trump, the ukrainian foreign minister and the prime minister and the president of the united states will be sitting down together at

arabia is very concerning, i think the next few weeks we are still trying to determine the types of cruise missiles, the types of points that possibly were used, not discounting, coming from yemen and the houthis and looking at where the actual attacks started so we are trying to avoid war and i think the united states government policy of diplomacy is the right course. >> speaking of the houthis yemen rebels, they are warning that iran is planning another strike and soon perhaps you can't much put too much stock into what the rebels are saying but what if, what if iran puts bite behind the bark, will the u.s. be forced to respond with at least limited military action? >> i think so. we have the right to defend ourselves and houthi rhetoric recalls their actual deployment of cruise missiles or surface to surface missiles against u.s.

navy warships a few months back right there at the strait off of yemen, they have a unique relationship with iran looking at the actual arms transferred into yemen and houthis so iran has distributed revolutionary network with shiite capabilities going from lebanon and hezbollah into iraq, into houthis and also in the persian gulf themselves, i've experienced firsthand with regard to their conduct on the water and we have to really look at what they're doing at sea as well as what they talk about doing on land. arthel: i want to show a clip now captain wells from cbs face the nation, he's the iranian foreign minister, he basically was saying you can't trust the houthis. >> the fact of the matter is that the houthis have accepted responsibility for that. if a operation and somebody else did it, they will look for the

culprit, i wasn't iran. arthel: captain wells do you believe iran is responsible for strikes on saudi oil facilities? >> i think they are culpable in the strikes, i think if the actual cruise missiles as i understand it from reading or one variety which have the actual range to actually get to the saudi oil facilities, look at the deeds of the iranians with regard to defense trade with the houthis and they are responsible for that particular capability, very sophisticated capability, it really is a game-changer and adds to the threats not just to saudi arabia but also to the world economic community and these are -- these are deeds that need to be reconsidered, i think foreign minister needs to speak a little more as statesman as opposed to communicating threats, that's what diplomacy is for. arthel: very interesting, new reporting out that president rouhani wants the u.s. and

western powers out of the region, the fury of persian gulf should be headed by tehran and president rouhani to announce peace plan, what do you think about this? >> we have been hearing ever since 1979, well documented to be protector of the persian golf, however, international water way, surrounded by other nation states like the gulf corporation council, quite a few stakeholders and partners, everyone has an interest in making sure the persian sufl -- gulf is secured for commerce, iran should be part of it to be sure but they shouldn't be the sole grantor because we can't a sole grantor, we need to have mutual respect and cooperation to ensure shipping goes from point of departure to destination. arthel: seeing that this is an

old song that iran has been singing, why is it that president rouhani wants to sing it again this week before un general assembly? >> i think it's important as you know new york is a strategic communication center of the world and he has a platform now to communicate to the other member states in the united nations that iran should be respected as a grantor for commerce, old plan as you ught, however, the international community needs to understand the security risk there to the revolutionary impulses which are motivated by the seal and we have to look at state california and interest and why he's doing it in new york, he has a great platform for strategic communication about the importance of iran, i think they still have a long way to go, especially with the deeds on the water with the tankers and the last serious incident in saudi arabia.
