we get to hang with you. griff: i do have to wish my wife a happy birthday. kathleen, happy birthday to you. she is going to be treated like a queen today by her friends and tomorrow i get to go home after the show and take her to dinner. it's going to be a big day today because, honestly it's fall here but in washington it's subpoena season. i talked about it as a reporter for this show and here we go now with more news today. pete: according to the "new york times," consider the source, the left is piling on when it comes to impeachment. there are reports now that a second intelligence official is weighing his or her so-called whistleblower on what happened in the ukraine. so you had, of course, over the last, what, week and a half we have been talking about -- now this individual who some call a whistleblower. i don't. i think he was a leaker who used official means to get information out because he doesn't like president trump. in this case it looks like yet another individual will come out with whatever information, first or second

hand that they have to try to add to the narrative here. jedediah: yeah. they are saying this information remains to be seen is more firsthand and this that a lot of the complaints about the other whistleblower was that it was not someone who had heard any of this information firsthand it was second hand. people felt it wasn't accurate definition of a whistleblower. news sources saying this is more close. an actual source respected by many. remains to be seen how this is going to play out. i don't think this story is coming to an end any time soon. griff: not at all. ing heard the story that this second whistleblower is a member of intelligence community. we will find out. we don't know. what we do know as i mentioned it is subpoena season. we had a subpoena to secretary of state pompeo, the deadline for him to turn over documents was yesterday. the white house saying we are not going to do it. we expect a letter to eventually go. what we saw yesterday, the three house committees, right, intelligence, schiff, foreign affairs eliot engel and, of course, reform committee there with elijah

cummings sending this letter to the white house saying that they have to subpoena documents. here's a quote from the letter they sent. we deeply regret that president trump has put us and the nation in this position, but his actions have left us with no choice but to issue this subpoena. pete: they deeply regret it. jedediah: very upset about it. they have to do it. they don't want to do it. remember, nancy pelosi said it's not fun for her. it's not fun. she doesn't want to have to go here. griff: the white house, will they turn it over? we don't necessarily expect them to because of what we expect to be in this letter because the of the white house taking a stance first we want to see the normal procedures which is the house taking a full vote. daring essentially speaker nancy pelosi to take a vote and saw a similar letter from the minority leader kevin mccarthy saying listen, we want to vote on this and then consider turning it over. we want coequal subpoena power. that's what left out of this. jedediah: if something wrong did happen here you want that accountability.

the problem is this has been going on for the longest time. democrats have been call for impeachment since day one. when you call for expweevment from day one before the president has done anything wrong. you lose credibility. so now every time you say he has done something wrong, imeecial offense, imeeivel offense. after a wall people get exhausted. one of those people is former florida attorney general who is calling out the house democrats saying this is a fishing expedition. take a listen. >> they don't want to take it to a vote. clearly nancy pelosi doesn't, because every democrat is going to have to vote for impeachment and do you know what? they are going to lose the election. their elections when they do that yes, congress has the power to subpoena. let me make myself very clear. they are not a law enforcement agency. they can issue subpoenas, but they cannot go on a fishing expedition trying to impeach a president. pete: which is exactly what they are doing. as we have been reminded time and time again. the impeachment process not a legal one.

it's a political one. nancy pelosi claims she didn't want to do it, has been holding back. now here we are in this inquiry. they won't take a vote because they don't have the votes. they know how vulnerable some of their democrats are especially freshman. so this -- the inquiry continues. subpoenas are being issued. the back and forth. but one of the results of this is, of course, scrutiny on the former vice president. joe biden, who had plenty of international dealings as vice president, turns out hunter biden took advantage of that in relationships that he had questions being asked what was his son doing in the ukraine, in china? he doesn't get asked about it much but he was asked about it yesterday. here's what the former vice president said when asked about his son's ties to the ukraine. >> all this talk from the president about corruption comes from the most corrupt president we have had in modern history. he is the definition of corruption. he has indicted himself by his only statements. this is not about me. it's not about my son. >> how was your role as vice

president in charge of policy in ukraine. your son's job in urk. how is that not a conflict of interest? >> it's not a conflict of interest. there has been no indication of any conflict of interest in ukraine or issue in else, period. i'm not going to respond to that let's focus on the problem. focus on this man. what he is doing. no president has ever done. no president. griff: i have said this before. but whenever you have any politician and asking an appropriate tough question and you get the fixer point toward the chest, you know you have asked the correct question. and here that reporter's question, you know, people forget vice president biden didn't just deal with ukraine. he was the administration's, the obama administration's point man for policy in the ukraine. and his son has business dealings. that was the point he was making. jedediah: you also expect, somehow to be unchallenged all the time. it's amazing to me. same type of behavior with pointing in your face that he did with peter doocy. you are running for

president of the united states. all questions are on the table. your dealings are on the table. your potential influence over your son's dealings are on the table. we would expect nothing less. you are not going to get a pass. you are expecting donald trump to be investigated heavily at every turn for every possible thing and, yet, you expect to not have to answer tough questions. it's not -- pete: i'm not going to your point. the nerve. people understand nepotism. if you are the point man and at the same time your son is working on business dealings where he has no qualifications whatsoever, making a ton of money that the rest of us wouldn't make a month. you might want some scrutiny on that. well, president trump has been talking about this each day, and he is pointing out this is not about politics. this is about corruption. listen. >> i don't care about biden's campaign, but i do care about corruption. his campaign, that's up to him. politics that's up to them. i don't care about politics. i think i have an obligation to do it. probably a duty to do it.

corruption. we are looking for corruption. when you look at what biden and his son did, and when you look at other people what they have done, i believe there was tremendous corruption with biden, but i think that went beyond. we are looking at corruption. we are not looking at politics. we are looking at corruption. pete: a lot of this depends on how you view biden. he is a 2020 presidential contender or is he the 2016 vice president. president trump saying he is the vice president. i'm looking at what he did and what was done to me which has still not been fully uncovered. horowitz and shot other guy? i can't remember his name. durham will be looking into this, more information coming out from that. or do you view him as a potential political rival trying to be undone? and i don't think president trump is saying i'm worried about joe biden. i have got to get the dirt on him so i can beat him in 2020. he is still frustrated that the truth doesn't come out with what was done with him in 2016. jedediah: will they believe

any particulars. i want to make sure that there is nothing i do that jeopardizes the whistleblower in any way. >> we have not spoken directly with the whistleblower. we would like. to say i'm sure the whistleblower has concerns that he has not been advised, as the law requires, by the inspector general or the director of national intelligence just as to how he is to communicate with congress. and so, the risk of the whistleblower is retaliation. griff: chairman schiff now has a problem not being fully transparent on the communication with his staff and the whistleblower. interestingly enough, people will forget that adam schiff was a house managener 2008 when the senate impeached louisiana federal judge for corruption. so it's not not like he doesn't know how this works "the washington post" giving him four pinocchios in this matter. pete: you are being kind, griff. not fully transparents otherwise known as lying. "the washington post," consider the post again. they don't want to give

four. they would give five if they could. four is the max. the whistleblower went to the committee. he pretended like that wasn't the case. how do you take him credible someone who is supposed to be leading this only the facts they tell us, just like other networks. no bias here. it's also the same thing after what's his name, volker went in to talk about the envoy to ukraine. nine hours of testimony. adam schiff would have leaked that or talked to the press right away. there is only one tim side who wants to tell the story of what volker said. release the transcript. release it all. democrats hiding behind the text messages that they use in one direction rather than the whole truth. jedediah: people on both sides of the aisle looks at schiff. people with nissan at this look at this guy with the biggest joke ever. people did the same thing with hillary clinton. she mislead. no, she lied. this guy lied repeatedly and he has been coming out from the beginning even on the russian collusion story i have this and i have that and you don't have anything. he has no credibility on so

siegel joins us. >> good morning. jedediah: we wish him a speedy recovery. i want to talk about what happened here. in terms of they said he had a heart attack. they kept him for two and a half days that sounded like a really short period of time. is that typical. >> that's very short. that implies it was a small heart attack. although we don't know for sure. i want everyone to know we are talking about the three coronary arteries. the arteries that supply the heart. they are tiny. doctors are saying only one of the three was blocked. and they reopened using a cardiac stent where you put a balloon. in you reinflate the artery and put in tiny sentence to keep it open. after that the patient is on blood thinners, aspirin and another blood thinner. they are on cholesterol lowering medications and probably on a medication that relaxes his heart and lowers his heart rate. that's what you usually see. and in the process of doing that he definitely damaged part of his heart. probably that area. probably small. but you don't usually go home after a couple of days. and you do not get back on a plane after a day or two.

he has brought to the forefront many hard left issues that he has been the leader on that forefront. so i think he really wants to be president. he is very passionate about these things. what would your medical advice be to him at this point? >> i think in most cases like this. after you have heart damage. did you go through a rehabilitation program where you slowly build back up. so you see how much can you tolerate. again, the pinnacle of that being a debate or the stress of a campaign. we need to see how much exercise he can handle. he should be slowly recuperating. he is defying a lot by doing. this 78 years old with that much stress. is he putting himself at risk. we don't know what his underlying health issues are other than high cholesterol which is clearly going to be treated very aggressively right now. i would say he is being very ambitious, taking a risk. heart disease is something that needs more gradual recovery, especially at 78. jedediah: we thank you for your input, doctor. >> we wish him well. jedediah: we wish him full

tied to president trump's re-election bid. officials say attempts have not been successful. pete? pete: president trump calling out house speaker nancy pelosi on her bluff as she prepares to send a letter daring her -- he prepares to send her a letter daring her to hold a formal impeachment vote. >> they can vote very easily. even though most of them, many of them don't believe they should do it. the way they are doing it, they have taken away our rights. so, if they proceed, and, you know, they will just get their people. they are awful in line because even though many of them don't want to vote, they have no choice. they have to follow their leadership. pete: here to react is fox news contributor and attorney for southern district of new york andrew mccarthy. andy, thanks for being here this morning, the idea of the process in the house, democrats right now pursuing an inquiry. the white house saying why aren't you voting on this? why does it matter? >> well, it matters, pete, because the constitution commits the sole power of

impeachment to the house of representatives, not to the speaker of the house. not to a cabal of party leaders in the house. the house has to act as an institution if it wants to do something as important. and there is nothing really that's more important that you can think of in our constitutional system than impeach and remove a president of the united states. they clearly have that power to do that, but they have to act as an institution. this can't be a partisan tv show. pete: why are they pursuing it this way then. they could vote to institute proceedings, give jurisdiction. instead they are not. why? >> well, because there is a political overlay to all of this, pete. impeachment is essentially a political process not a legal one. and i think the caucus here is the smarter democrats know that impeachment is not a good idea. it's not going to be popular in the country. they don't want to subject their members, particularly democrats, who are in trump-friendly districts to

a difficult vote to have an inquiry into weather trump should be removed from office. so they want to kind of abracadabra this and say they deem that they have an impeachment inquiry going so they can spare those members a vote. they want them to have to vote only one time. and that is they want to do like a sort of fast and nasty impeachment, an article or two of impeachment in connection with this ukraine thing, which they think they can kind of split off from everything else. and then within a few weeks get this to a vote on the floor. the one and only time they will get them all to vote. then they can go back to their base, which is what is driving this, and say yes, we finally impeached him, okay, will you leave us be now and we will all get on with life. if they don't get some republican buy-in. and certainly if they don't act like an institution. if this is just a partisan exercise, it's not going to have any credibility. it's going to damage the impeachment remedy for future purposes. and it will probably hurt them next november in the

election. pete: we will see where the politics go. you mentioned this ukraine thing as part of it there are subpoenas being issued. including to the white house. now, representative rashida tlaib, she is like the representative who is your next door neighbor slightly off their rocker but somehow wins an election was caught on camera saying hey, what are we going to do if the white house doesn't comply? here is her idea. >> well, what happens if they don't comply? this is the first time we have ever had a situation like this. so we are trying to figure out, no joke, we're trying to figure out well, is it the d.c. police that goes and gets them? no, no. what are we hoping? i will tell them that they can hold all those people right here in detroit. we will take care of them. steve: wh pete: who is going to arrest the white house? >> i don't know. maybe we will get a big net. [laughter] you know, look, it's not surprising that she doesn't know the process, i suppose. it's not surprising that people think that there is a bunch of subpoenas out there, pete.

they have now finally issued their first subpoena. all these other things were just nasty letters. finally yesterday, last night, mcmulvaney, the chief of staff got a subpoena. but it's issued on the authority of the oversight committee because there is flow impeach inquiry it's a fraud. the early saying they have inherent authority to arrest. they have never done it for over a century. they have never ever done it to an executive branch official. they don't have any authority to do it. ultimately what they will do is go to court and try to get a judicial finding that somebody is in contempt for not complying with a subpoena and they will hope that that ratchets up political pressure for compliance. but they can't arrest anyone. that's an executive function. pete: you said it. a fraud. oh to live in rasheda tlaib's fantasy land. andy mccarthy thank you very much for your time this morning. we appreciate it? >> thanks, pete. pete: could have been our lead this morning. america's booming economy,

it mildly. and we continue to do very well. pete: what does this mean to you. jedediah: joining us now is stephen moore. welcome. >> hi, guys. good morning. jedediah: break this down for us the september job numbers. what is the big take away here? >> well, first of all, this was a blockbuster number. think about what a lot of liberal economists have been saying for the last three months. you guys have heard this. a recession is right around the corner. the economy is going over a cliff. and then we get these numbers that keep, you know, showing an improving economy. i have to confess. i was kind of nervous about this jobs report because i was listening to a lot of these economists saying the economy is going south. we get very, very nice number, about 150,000 new jobs when you include the revisions upward. the president is right. we now have the lowest unemployment rate since the beatles were still playing together. by the way, not just the lowest overall unemployment rate but the lowest black

unemployment rate. the lowest latino unemployment rate. the lowest asian unemployment rate. these are positive numbers. the no recession for all this talk about a recession. there is no recession in the economy right now. pete: stephen, talk to us about the middle class and incomes. there is big progress here. share it with us. >> there is big pro-desgress. so i'm going to give you a sneak preview of something that will be on foxnews.com on monday morning. we are still going over these numbers. it appears now that the increase in income since donald trump came in to office from january 2017 through august of this past year, so a little over two and a half years, are you guys sitting down for this one? the numbers rah amazing. middle class -- i'm not talking about, you know, the rich. i'm not talking about bill gates and warren buffet. i'm talking about middle class families have seen an adjusted for inflation, a

$5,003 increase in their incomes since donald trump came into office. those are gigantic numbers. i mean, just to put those in to some comparison. barack obama was president for 8 years. pete: right. >> even if you count his record from the time the recession ended, incomes in that seven year period only went up $1,000. up 5,000ness a little over two and a half years under trump. by the way, this undermines centrally the claim by people like elizabeth warren. kamala harris and others that only the rich have benefited from this trump economy. that's a flat out false statement. we are seeing nice gains for middle class people. griff: stephen, what you are saying we have heard from so many economists that the economy is slowing a little bit. but, what you are saying is that middle class americans should still have confidence in the president's economic proposals? >> you know, look, the tax cuts have been a gigantic gain for the middle class, not just for rich people and big corporations. the deregulation policies. the promotion of american

energy. those have all contradicted to a really, really strong economy. by the way, when you think about this, we have not only the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years. we have the lowest inflation rate in 50 years. you combine those two things that's a very healthy economy. i do want to put a little bit of asterisk on this, guys. i am a little worried about the manufacturing and industrial sector of the economy. that has slowed down. we lost 2,000 manufacturing jobs in the last report. construction numbers are pretty good. technology is doing well. and consumer spending is well. the one thing i'm nerve vus about is i do want to see some introovment in those manufacturing numbers. that's going to require, i think, a deal with china on that trade situation. griff griff stephen moore, thank you for your insight. we look forward to that monday morning report. >> have a great weekend. griff: thousands gather in indianapolis for the made in america 2019 trade show. jedediah: products made right here in the u.s.a.

legal battle? here to discuss it president of the border patrol union brandon judd, good morning, brandon, how are you. >> griff, it's always good to talk with you. griff: let's, for our viewers, make clear what this is. in 2005 president george w. bush starts in the wake of 9/11 a program to collect d.n.a. from everybody. fingerprint act. under the obama administration a waiver was issued that essentially stopped it. now, the trump administration wants to simply bring that back; is that correct? >> it is correct. and if you look at the reason for this, congress passes laws to protect those people within our borders. whether you are here legally, illegally, whether you are a united states citizen. all of the people here in the united states are supposed to be protected under our laws. the laws are supposed to benefit the united states and those people who are within the borders. when we collect the d.n.a., we know that there is a lot of people that come and go in to the united states. and there are thousands of crimes that are committed

be able to show a judge cause, a reasonable likely lose that d.n.a. will, in fact, be used to profile persons. it just -- it's not reality. griff: all right. so at the end of the day, brandon, this is simply a case where the administration is trying to use something that's on the books, if they are not able to do that, if the courts go against the administration, what's that mean? what's the take away? >> >> the rule of law will be lost. you know, again, one of the reasons why mexico has such a high murder rate is because they don't enforce their law. they have some of the toughest gun laws on the books, but they don't enforce them. for that reason their murder rate is so high. you know, when we have got people that are talking about getting rid of the mpp, when we have got people that are talking about getting rid of the rule of law, we're gonna go down as a country. we just will not have those protections and illegal immigration will spike. griff: brandon judd, thank you very much. see you. >> thank you.

the majority. they all vote with aoc and plus three. nancy pelosi's petrified of them. i mean, she is afraid she is going to lose her position. nancy pelosi will lose her speakership right after the election when the republicans take over the house. pete: griff, the white house is calling on democrats to hold the vote. pete: they arvote.pete. griff: they are indeed. house committee democrats are subpoenaing not only the white house but also vice president pence and also secretary of state mike pompeo. the deadline of which was yesterday to turn over documents. the administration did not because they want a vote. because that's the way the impeachment was handled in previous impeachments with clinton and nixon. coequal subpoena power. kevin mccarthy says we shouldn't turn over documents until we get the right to subpoena witnesses as well. pete: this is all about the phone conservation with the

ukrainian officials about whether or not look into things. this is what all the subpoenas are about. griff: at the center of subpoenas. center of the impeachment inquiry. and we are learning more as we hear from more ambassadors and other key players in it. jedediah: amused. pete. pete: i can't wait. because there is no formal process to your point going through regular committee practice control who is compelled. griff: speaker pelosi has responded saying there is no constitutional requirement to hold a vote and no congressional precedent that they should. however, the concern for nancy pelosi and other democrats is that other members of her caucus are getting way ahead of themselves moving far too fast in this entire process. pete in fairness to nancy pelosi this is the most cowardly impeachment america has ever seen. either you will impeach this guy because you think you

have the evidence or media know you have lap dogs there and fish for something that you hope bubbles up. jedediah: just move. have the guts to do it properly. one person weighing in is representative rand tlaib out in detroit rising pac. how lawmakers are exploring how to arrest white house officials who don't comply with the subpoenas. take a listen. >> what happens when they don't comply? this is the first time we have ever had a situation like this. so we are trying to figure out, no joke, we're trying to figure out well, is it the d.c. police that goes against them? no, no. what are we hoping? tell them they can hold right here people in detroit we will take care of them. jedediah: here is my problem with all of this. not that you legitimately want to look into a whistleblower complaint or make sure there was no foul play, it's the desperation that these people wreak of when it comes to impeachment and they have from the very beginning. now you are at the point where reasonable people who would have initially said

yes if there was collusion for w. russia let's look into this. if it was a legitimate whistleblower complaint let's investigate it. again, are you guys for real? are you serious? when are we supposed to take you seriously on impeachment and when do we not? it's constant barrage. you can't even get a second to talk about the trump administration on the issues. because you are always talking about the next issue that these individuals want to impeach him for. we barely have time to talk about the economy or immigration or anything he has actually accomplished because all we do is talk about what they are going to be filing for impeachment and for what? that's all we talk about. pete: good point. we will be talking about the jobs numbers which are gang busters. jedediah: we will how do we get to that? pete: income up $5,000 over the last two and a half years for middle income folks. we don't get to it enough because we are listening to people like rasheda tlaib. she is like your next door neighbor who is not stable who convinces enough people that she is in order to win an election. then you hear her ranting about things like this as if she has authority.

here is somebody who does. andy mccarthy knows about these issues. we asked him about what rasheda tlaib said. here is his response. >> look, it's not surprising that she doesn't know the process, i suppose. it's not surprising that people think there is a bunch of subpoenas out there, pete. they have now finally issued their first subpoena. all these other things were just nasty letters. ultimately what they will do is go to court and they will try get a judicial finding that somebody is in contempt for not complying with the subpoena and they will hope that that ratchets up political pressure for compliance. but they can't arrest anyone. that's an executive function. pete: we are going to call the d.c. cops? i'm not kidding, everybody. i'm not kidding. we might have to call the d.c. coming and go arrest these folks in the white house. jedediah: where we're at. in the land of insane. griff: if the administration does not turn documents over, they are ultimately going to be charged with obstructing congress. d.c. police, i don't think, ever has been involved in any sort of matter like that. meanwhile, the president's daughter, ivanka trump,

of her ex-boyfriend. an appeals court now agreeing to hear arguments over alleged misconduct by the lead prosecutor. he is accused of leaking a juror's name to a blogger and lying about it to investigators. wow. and the supreme court will take up an abortion case this term. the justice is set to consider a louisiana law that requires doctors to perform the procedure to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. this is the first abortion case that will be argued since brett kavanaugh and neil gorsuch joined the bench, solidifying a conservative majority. the law remains on hold pending an appeal. elizabeth warren firing a top campaign staffer accused of inappropriate behavior. warren's campaign said it cut ties with national organizing director richard mcdaniel after multiple complaints. the firing comes as warren's campaign announced it raised $24.6 million last quarter just behind bernie sanders 25.3 million. the two raised the most

media to pay attention to this as opposed to their narrative? >> pete, i think the reality is i don't know about volker's exchanges, i sought same news reports, but you know what? president zelensky himself said he felt no pressure from the president or the vice president. that should have ended a lot of these inquiries at this point. the reality is that we're going to continue to focus on what we think is most important to the american people. it's why the vice president is traveling today to louisiana. it's why we are going to continue to talk about trade deals that we think aren't getting done. i think actually where you will seat vice president travel most, pete. there is 21 democrats who are residing in districts that donald trump won in 2016. those numbers have to be put on notice to say are you actually going to help your constituents to do things that are beneficial to the american people or are you siding with nancy pelosi and these endless investigations? pete: interesting. the vice president going through the backyards of democrats who are in precarious spots. will they go along with nancy pelosi in the impeachment or stand by what they said they would do? mark short, thank you very much. you are welcome to make cracks about griff jenkins

pete: we are back with a fox news alert. >> moments ago secretary of state mike pompeo denying the state department did anything improper in its dealings with ukraine. watch. >> state department is very focused. that's the directions of the president. we are very focused on creating space that we could ultimately deliver a good relationship with this new government. that was my guidance all along. we have all known there has been corruption in ukraine. the united states government has been engaged in trying to push back against corruption in ukraine for quite some time and this administration has been full-fledged on committed to that as well. pete: secretary of state pompeo says he would comply with the request for documents but wouldn't allow them to harass department employees. so the secretary of state in athens, greece this morning talking with the leaders there.

and ultimately having to answer to what's going on here in our country and laying out the case the administration has made for a long time. this is about a corruption, rooting it out. and using the influence we have to do so with a new government. jedediah: that seems to be what president trump is saying as well. this was not political for him, he has said. this was not about politics. this was not about joe biden. this was about corruption. this was about interference in the last election and making sure that that doesn't happen again it. remains to be seen how the public will feel about that as this investigation goes on into the whistleblower, into that conversation that president trump had with the president of ukraine. this is definitely a strong statement from pompeo. and think are on the same page, which is good to see. pompeo and president trump talking about corruption as a primary motivation for these conversations. griff: he was traveling all week long he was in rome and now in greece. we had the testimony of the special envoy to ukraine kurt volker who either resigned or pushed out by pompeo we don't know. this story has continued to follow him overseas.

impeachment inquiry. can can a capri, i want to start with you. what do you make of these pinocchios that is a lot of pinocchios. >> it is indeed. i give credit to the "the washington post" in the sense that they raised questions about secretary pompeo's, you know, maybe potentially skirting a question in an abc interview. they were equitably critical of chairman schiff and how he has handled some of these questions in the press. ultimately, i don't think it's going to have any impact and here's why. because the entire impeachment process is already through the jaundiced lens of political partisan 147. so it'partisanship. people are going to believe whether a they want to believe. if you are for impeachment you are not going to care. if you are a supporter of the president, you are going to think adam schiff is bad. so and impeachment is bad. so i think it doesn't overall on balance do anything. but it certainly is not a good look for the chairman.

jedediah: charlie, you say what? >> look, i can't believe congressman schiff is still allowed to be chairman of this committee. if you look at what he has done for the last two and a half years he promised and he said he had material evidence that the president of the united states included with russia. that never happened whatsoever. where is the evidence, congressman schiff? remember, when donald trump jr. testified in front of congress, there were a lot of accusations that adam schiff leaked information. he kind of skirted out of that one. we never -- he was never able to answer those questions directly. then he sends a staffer to ukraine on august 25th. and then the whistleblower rules get changed and then finally he flat out lies about the contact with the whistleblower. let's not forget that he congressman schiff met with michael cohen before his testimony in congress and he lied about that too. is he a chairman of this committee. a committee that's supposed to have republican and democrat interest. he highly politicized and a liar and should not be the chairman of this committee.

without interference from any other country. i see our duty is to engage in activity that ensures that we have fair, free elections. i only wish that the previous administration had protected our elections back in 2016. pete: good point. a little turn about there. the recognition that it was president obama who was charged with safeguarding the 2016 election. so if all these accusations being made by the left are accurate, where was barack obama? and this defense that they are making is a clear one. it's been consistent. if you want to fight corruption. corruption that everyone knew existed there, and questionable conduct both by americans and ukrainians. then have you got to ask them to do something about it and work with our government in the process. if they are hiding something, they are hiding it in plain sight by coming out and saying this was our intention and there was no quid pro quo. ukraine got way more support than they ever got under the obama administration from the trump administration. actual weapons as they stand right next to russia and russian aggression. and they are just saying

hey, these are the phone conversations we were having. read the transcript. jedediah: i don't feel it's very strategic. the part of the conversation was that controversial was obviously when joe biden was brought up. i think the administration coming out and saying the focus is on corruption and not politics. the focus was on potential -- on election interference in 2016 and making sure that there is no future interference in our elections. so that is a talking point coming out of white house right now consistent with pompeo. consistent with president trump remains to be seen how that will be heard by the people. griff: pompeo's push back there that we just brought you incredibly strong. remember yesterday was a deadline that these three house committees had subpoenaed pompeo and the state department for all documents related to the ukraine call. now, those three democrats also subpoenaing not only vice president pence, but the white house. indeed. here is a little bit of the letter yesterday from chairmans cummings, schiff and engel to the white house. saying we deeply regret that president trump has put and the nation in this position. but his actions have left us

with no choice but to issue this subpoena. jedediah: you are laughing. pete pete we have been laughing at it all morning. i think our viewers are probably doing the same. this is such posturing to make it look like they can't help but be such patriots. they have to issue these subpoenas because the constitution is at stake. when in actuality what's happening from the white house there is a lot of legitimate frustration around the fact that all of this has been done to this president from the mueller report to now ukraine. and there has been no justice yet for what happened to their campaign being surveilled in 2016. so we are waiting on horowitz. we are waiting on all the other -- the other report that's coming out as well. griff: right. pete: yet, still, the president you can tell frustrated. where is it? griff: there is a process here. a whistleblower filed a complaint. pete: one man's whistleblower is another man's leaker. we shouldn't even call him a whistleblower. he didn't follow the process. he went to the committee.

he had second hand knowledge. he has a partisan motivation. that's not a whistleblower. that's a leaker who used a process. so i know he is designated that title and i get why we use it but it's not a fair. they hide behind these totals and cloak themselves in it as if they are the savior. griff: what's fascinating bring you this part of it too. secretary pompeo deadline to be subpoenaed. he actually addressed that as well. and here's what he had to say. >> the state department sent a letter last night to congress, which is our initial response to the document request. we will obviously do all the things we are required to do by law. i was a member of congress once. article 1 has a certain set of powers in article 2 has an obligation to make sure that we protect officials at the state department. and sadly, there have been congressional inquiries that have harassed and abused state department employees by contacting them directly.

different wars same place over 18 years. when a president runs for office and makes promises and then even when the president keeps a promise, if that promise is bring troops home so they can win the next election. >it doesn't exactly make that strategy easy. people look at our generals and think they must be war hawks because they always want to keep troops there it's because those generals don't leave every four years and lived through bringing troops home, having who is left get killed and sending troops back and this cycle that we perpetuate. i think as american people go to the ballot box and vote look for politicians who have strategy and not just a talking point when it comes to national security. you know, i think what i read there might be 150 fighters in niger from this i think it's called the greater shah harrahs, you know, part of isis. and so this is 150 fighters that might take 20 of our guys to go kill if they are supported correctly. those type of strategies aren't keeping our troops at war but they are going out, finding our enemy and killing them. and the american people need to understand the

difference. jedediah: i want to ask you about this knife attack in paris four people killed. he killed three police officers. he injured several others during this attack and was stopped by an officer who shot the assailant in the compound's courtyard said a police official. what do you make of this attack and what do you make of this gun stopping this knife massacre? >> well, first off, it's the most horrific thing ever. these are men and women sworn to protect the people of their community. and someone from within their building took a knife to them and killed four of them before that person was stopped. one of the things that i thought it pointed out to me this was a ceramic knife. even a metal detector would not have stopped this person. that's something that we need to take heed to here in this country. if you believe in guns or not, at least understand you should have an adefensive mentality, you should be ready to defend yourself and the people around you. if you don't feel like you can get training and get that mentality. we live in a world where people can get influenced with an iphone and that's the biggest enemy we have.

>> ♪ ♪ pete: griff is alive! it's a song topping the charts 50 years ago. why are we playing a song from 50 years ago here to answer that question is charles payne host of making money on the fox business network. charles: good morning that was back in december of 1969 when the unemployment rate was 3.5% and guess what? we're back. we're back! 3.5%, the number was out yesterday and let me tell you this is a phenomenon number, in part because there's a lot of ways the unemployment rate goes down and one of them is when people leave the labor force. it's a number when last month 117,000 people came back to the labor force, over 100,000 of them were women. so this is an amazing number and by the way, black unemployment rate 5.5%, white 3.2%, asian 2.5 % hispanic unemployment rate shattering the record 3.9% in

january 2017 it's 5.8% this was a phenomenal number. griff: but charles let me ask you there are some manufacturing sector people complaining it's not so great. is that a problem, what is that about? charles: well here is the thing ironically to a degree manufacturing might be a victim of its own success. remember when president trump came into office we were told there would never be another single manufacturing job ever, created. so we created half a million of them so it starts to slow down a little bit so it's an intriguing area, but i think this whole where we're going with robotics and automation and things like that present an amazing opportunity along with, again, removing even more regulations, so i think we're in a position once the trade battle is over with that we can see that resume , but remember, it was already a renaissance, a miracle to even get where we were, so when i see people say well the rate of manufacturing employment is down, yes it's down from elevated levels, and it wasn't

supposed to be this high in the first place. i'm more concerned actually about the oil patch, we've taken a lot of rigs offline, i think it may be the permian basin where we're having structural issues but that's one area where i'm watching being concerned other than that, this is where economists used to say this was full employment in fact 4% was technically considered full employment. any american that wanted a job had a job and i think we can get better. jedediah: you have some democrats hoping for a recession others calling for a recession so it looks like they are not getting what they wish for charles. charles: and i think it's going to get better. here is a fact you never hear but it's more important than this unemployment number. employment to population ratio it's 61%. the record is 64% so there's a lot more room to go but now we have finally gone above where we were at the start of the great recession that's how deep it was but we're back. pete: great. thanks charles. jedediah: appreciate it. pete: you never left though. we've been celebrating product made in america all morning long
