better debate for me. ed: big victory for the president in the making. maybe some in the media are not going to talk about. just call it the art of the deal. the president striking a partial trade deal round one with china. jedediah: causing stock stock surge. pete: garrett tenney on more on that deal. what does it include. >> this is not the comprehensive trade deal president trump was hoping for but it is the first major sign of progress towards ending the trade dispute between the world's two largest economies in nearly six months the u.s. has announced it has reached a deal in principle what is being described as phase one of a larger trade deal. this phase will include intellectual property. chinese concessions on currency and beijing agreeing to buy as much as $50 billion in u.s. agricultural products. u.s. stocks rose by nearly 500 points on news of a potential deal before pulling back slightly at the close. it's not clear what the u.s. will give up in return as a part of this phase one. the president admitted it could still all fall apart

over the next 3 to 5 weeks while it's being written up and finalized. he still touted it as a big win for the country at a rally last night in louisiana. >> i just made a great china deal today for energy, for the farmers.
