can't handle this because we are conflicted. the idea that we are telling our family and friends that they can't hold positions, there's nothing as long as nothing is being manipulated in the process. the president is the ultimate policy maker for this country, the vice president with ukraine prosecutor scenario was acting on the wishes of obama and imf and un with regard to getting rid of corrupt prosecutor, with the president it's a little closer but again i say if his children are taking advantage of the brand, trump's whole thing is the brand and they've benefiting from that financially, there's nothing wrong with it so long as they're not using their father or the government in order to improve their position. it's a distinction that people find fine, nevertheless we live in america, you are allowed to make money on your brand.

heather: his involvement with that company which was the ukrainian company, hunter focused his work on the principles of corporate transparency, governance and responsibility which was based on his prior experience as lawyer and director on other boards, at no time has any law enforcement agencies or domestic or foreign allege that hunter engaged in wrongdoing at any point during 5-year term. so as an attorney and prosecutor , the wording there for me. >> he can be on a board, there's no problem with that and the fact of the matter is when biden went over there to get rid of that, quote, unquote corrupt ukrainian prosecutor, he did that as the behest or marriage of -- messenger of obama, they said who are you to tell us, this is obama's phone number, you want to call him, i'm doing this on behalf of the president, he was doing as part of u.s.

policy. why -- it was clear that the prosecutor, the one that they were trying to get rid of was not investigating corruption of companies, that would have been the perfect cover for biden, joe biden said, my son is protected if he were doing something nefarious, why would put a real crime fighter, that would put his son in jeopardy. heather: should hunter eventually testify before congress? >> that's a -- heather: if they haven't done anything wrong, why not? >> there's a great question and here is why not in my mind, difference between court of law and what is legal and ethical versus the court of public opinion and going into that congress, if i felt that congress was going to ask questions for the purposes of getting to the truth and formulating perhaps policies that could curve foreign influence with regard to family and friends which i think is going to be very difficult then i'd say go for it but you know as well as i do it is going to be an issue of political theater and all it's going to happen is that the republicans are going to attack him in order to try to

stop the turkish military. the u.s. is now preparing to withdraw a thousand troops from northern syria. >> nearly 1,000 isis supporters have escaped from syrian detention camp following turkey's invasion so how worried should the u.s. be about the caliphate resurging in the region. well, joining me now former special operation's intel bret, thank you very much for joining us, we appreciate it. let's pull up president trump's tweet about the isis prisoners and then i want your response to this. he says the u.s. has the worse of the isis prisoners, turkey and the kurds must not let them escape, europe should have taken them back after numerous requests, they should do it now. they will never come to or be allowed into the united states, so how big of an issue is this? >> well, it's a mess that red carpet that we layed out for the turks to basically walk right into syria and, you know,

overtake that country has stopped decades of our foreign policy efforts, efforts out of which have been built on mutual trust and credibility with our allies. our efforts in syria have been as much about our ability to stop the future isis attacks as it is about our ability to wheel power and influence in a region when we need it and we absolutely are going to need it again, we do not have the forces in the region with the ability to maintain pressure on isis, we have to do it through surrogate force and overnight we have taken the number one surrogates and we've shifted their efforts from our number one enemy and that's a major problem and i see two major long-term repercussions from all of this and just within the last week of this turkish invasion, the first one is isis prisoner problem and we see hundreds of them being broken out and on top of that we are learning that u.s. special operations are getting out of the area so fast that they were unable to fulfill plans and

remove 60-high value isis prisoners out of syrian captivity and move them into their own own captivity and we need access to those prisoners, they provide us with valuable intelligence that allows counterterrorism units to do their job, the second major issue is that the iranians and russians have been pushing this narrative that we have a credibility problem at the u.s. government is unworthy, untrust worthy, unreliable ally and we saw the kurdish commander basically have to make a deal with the assad regime to move syrian troops in the northeastern border and we are breaking alliances. heather: as you discuss that we can take a look at some of the elements that's going on there in terms of turkey and the kurds, you mentioned this just happened last night, the kurds striking the deal with assad but then that brings up the question, you know, are we there to prevent isis from escalating or are we there to protect the

kurds and what is the long-term impact on the war on terror? >> well, the long-term impact is that we now have basically two armies advancing on each other, the assad regime backed by russian forces moving troops in northeast area to repel turkish advance and then you have isis caught in between, right now isis is get back at what they do best, terrorism, cities liberated and there was isis problem before turkish invasion, the prisons were overcapacity, they were strained on resources and we are going to have a problem anyway but this is exacerbated that and cause more chaos from it. heather: bret, it's our responsibility going to continue to be the border between, you know, turkey and syria and the

democrats are up in arms over us leaving when we can't even protect our border here at home? >> well, you make a good point but i also think in this case it's not just democrats, many republicans that are -- heather: right. >> huge fans of the president that are voicing concerns, i personally worked with kurdish fighters previously and i can tell you that we stopped a lot lot of attacks on americans because of information that we received from kurdish fighters, special operation guys that are up in arms in this because we have been work with these guys for years, to me it's more about the long-term effect of not wanting to go back and i'm telling you what i'm seeing, we are going to have to send another military force at some point back into that area to stop isis because of what's going on. heather: just a vicious, vicious cycle, bret, thank you so much for joining us, we appreciate your expertise this morning on this. >> thanks, heather.

>> i think it's going to affect beto's campaign as a whole make individuals look at democrats and, of course, democratic voters themselves question where the party is going. obviously to the extreme left and things like that when you start playing with people's values or religious belief that's a big problem. me as a christian it's unacceptable that you would try to force me to -- to want to act and think a certain way especially in a church. it's absolutely unacceptable and it will not work or stood for. heather: this is an interesting poll that we can show everyone at home where it says that unifying is the most important trait for a democratic nominee in the latest poll, you see unifying, inspiring, experienced and then goes down from there. based on that, robin, what do you think we will hear tomorrow night? >> there's got to be a message of unity, we need to deliver our message in a clear and consize manner of what we stand for not

just attack the president, but give clear ideas about what we offer as an alternative, so that's what i'm looking for tomorrow night, heather. heather: chris, what do you think the chances are that robin will get to hear that? [laughter] >> i don't think at all, and again this is why president trump is growing and obviously, people who don't support him are on the hinge is he's defending freedom and defending values and people want freedoms defended, people don't want to feel like they can't go to church and worship god or pray and then have to feel like the government will impose on, unacceptable. i don't think anybody will be on stage by the way, this is what beto said, let's not do that, i don't think it's going to happen but the party definitely, they have to come together obviously but for our benefit they won't. heather: we will see if they are asked about it. robin and chris, thank you so much. appreciate it.
