11:00 pm
make a mistake, we will admit it. we will correct it. unlike the rest of the mob that hates donald trump 24/7. by the way, let not your heart be troubled because the news continues. laura ingraham is in the other swamp. >> laura: it's like christmas. we keep waiting. it's like when the kids are in the car, when are we going to get there? >> sean: were you like me as a kid, i was pretty incorrigible. totally incorrigible. were you like me, i knew every christmas gift santa was giving me before christmas arrive. >> laura: every hiding place. my mother was so mad at me. >> sean: i don't care where they hid them, i found them. >> laura: did you act surprised on christmas morning. did you feign surprise? i love the socks, mom. thanks. the love the practical clothing? >> sean: don't buy me anything. gee, nice sweater.
11:01 pm
hey, do you want this? >> laura: great show, hannity. i'm laura ingraham, this is "the ingraham angle." what really happened inside president trump's explosive meeting with congressional leadership today? pelosi and schumer have their side of the story. house minority leader kevin mccarthy will give his in moments. also tonight, judicial watch is investigating about whether prominent conservatives, including yours truly, were unlawfully monitored at the request of ousted u.s. ambassador. tomes fitton is here with the shocking details. plus raymond arroyo breaks down the gaffe-tastic moment from the debate. tonya ryman reveals why democrats body language was the real story. but first, trump wins make another democratic debate. that is the focus of tonight's "angle." nearly three years ago, donald trump came to office and he promised peace and prosperity for america.a.
11:02 pm
and he has delivered. even with the heavy anvil of the mueller investigation tied around his neck, the president has worked tirelessly to drain the swamp with mass safety regulations, phenomenal judges, and a tax cut for working families. markets are up, wages are up, unemployment is way down across all key demographic groups. on foreign policies, he has likewise been remarkably consistent on his pledge to put america first. he said he was going to do it and he is doing it. he is winding down foreign entanglements, long-term military interventions that i seem to recall democrats used to be against. >> we've been worrying for many years. unnatural to us but natural for them. they fight..at they fight long and they fight hard and they've been fighting syria for a long time. at the border, that is the border with syria. i say, why are we protecting syria's land? assad is not a friend of ours. why are we protecting their
11:03 pm
land? >> laura: remember when democrats embraced this anti-interventionist approach? > this war diminishes our security, our standing in the hworld, our military, our econoy and the resources we need to confront the challenges of the 21st century. by any measure, are single-minded and open-ended approach on iraq is not a strategy for keeping america safe. >> laura: now that is totally out the window. the only person on that democra. debate stage who, on this issue, really channeled obama.nn >> you will continue with this policy of the u.s. actually providing arms to terrorist groups in syria because they are the ones who have been the ground force in regime change. >> you can embrace or put an end to endless war without embracing donald trump's policies. >> what is an endless war? >> please allow him to respond.
11:04 pm
>> what we were doing in syria was keeping our word. >> laura: that's nice, pete. by the end of the evening it was obvious that the democrats will say and do at this point almost anything, including contort their own views on key issues just to oppose trump. i don't recall any of them voicing any great concern to what might happen in 2012 when obama drew his redline and didn't enforce it. the kurds were still in located there. maybe it is because they started seeing polls on invading syria, and what were they like back then? consider what gallup found. 68%, 24% of americans oppose military action to. attempt to end the conflict even if all economic and diplomatic efforts failed to end the civil war in syria. have americans today really become newly pro-interventionist? i don't think so. but the democrats, maybe they
11:05 pm
have, all because that keeps them in opposition to trump. the aoc plus three party believes the american way of life in many ways has become evil and unsustainable. the candidates think trump is a menace and he's got to go. other than that, their policy prescriptions are kind of a mismatch. biden thinks if he wins things will magically go back to obama the arrow where democrats were partying with stevie wonder and tom hanks. as for sanders and warren, they've adopted a european-style socialist approach, which, last time i checked on him isn'tyl working anywhere in the world now. amy klobuchar, pete buttigieg, they're trying to hold themselves out as more moderate reasonable democrats but neither of them can get out of single digits in the polls. and beto, he's basically a less interesting and less intelligent aoc. castro is a radical, open-borders nightmare.
11:06 pm
booker thinks democrats should just be nicer to each other. like that is realistic. they are all either running to be vice president because they have nothing better to do. i don't know. but cnn did try their best to help them all by staying away from certain topics altogether last night. for instance, there was zero questions or discussion aboutst the most important threat to american long-term security. talking about that small, innocuous country called china. mentioned a few times, all in passing. we are supposed to take this crowd seriously? now remember, voters are supposed to believe elizabeth warren is the new, smart and savvy front runner. >> mayor pete buttigieg, you say senator warren has been "evasive" on how she is going tm pay for medicare for all. >> we heard it tonight, yes or no question that didn't get a "yes" or "no" answer. your signature is to have a plan for everything, except this.
11:07 pm
>> let's be clear, whenever someone hears the term "medicare for all who want it," understand what that really means. it's medicare for all who can afford it. >> i don't understand why you believe the only way to deliver affordable coverage to everyone is to obliterate private plans. >> laura: she's going to out negotiate president xi when she can't handle the mayor of south bend? i don't think so. what we've learned from these debates i think is generally the following. owe agendaless democrats have no china policy, other than complaining about trump's tariffs, no coherent trade policy except, we will work with the europeans more. like obama didn't already try that and fail. they have no coherent ahealth care policy, and someoe wants to abolish health care insurance altogether. wildly unpopular. others want a hybrid of sorts. but it is still a jungle. they have no plan to raise your standard of living, that i can say.
11:08 pm
that actually kind of given up trying to argue that point. but their answer for everything is to tax it. if it moves, tax it. if it doesn't, tax it. >> i do think it is appropriate to acknowledge that taxes will go up. >> for people making between $50,000 and $70,000 a year, the taxes will go up about $5,000. >> we should look at what germany, france, and sweet and still, which is a value added tax. >> billionaires are making money off of their accumulated wealth. we need a wealth tax. >> sometimes i think that senator warren is more focused on being punitive. >> laura: you know it's bad when even beto is saying too much of the taxes. even at the advanced age of the chthree top candidates, at times it felt like last night you were watching a bunch of 19-year-olds dilettante sitting around the common area shooting the bull about stuff they just read the night before, so cutting edge.
11:09 pm
>> that means that our pole solar system could be like, one tiny atom in the fingernail of some other giant being. what? >> laura: if it were only that interesting. on issue after issue, they have all been tied up in knots. they are defining themselves, and a lot of other people are doing the same thing. let's focus on the democrats. they are defining themselves only t through their oppositiono trump. they used to be against government surveillance but now advance embrace the deep state's powers. they used to be for blue-collar workers, but they won't support at the usnca. they used to be for getting out of endless wars but now they want back in. there is no consistency whatsoever, except on abortion and those things i guess. obama actually was a smart
11:10 pm
person. i didn't agree with him a lot but really smart. incredibly talented politician. elizabeth warren? what am i missing? she cannot hold a candle to obama. none of the democrats that i can see on that stage can. the democrats hate to trump. but have a whole lot of nothing to replace him. and i think smartot people in te party know it. look at the new study out today, their calculations show at 2020 map that looks like this. when you step back and you look at that field last night, on that democrat debate stage, you can see why so many democrats think impeachment, even if it takes secret hearings, is there only answer. and that's "the angle." a reaction, mercedes, senior advisor to the trump 2020 campaign along with doug schoen, fox news contributor and former advisor for president clinton. doug, can any democrat claim
11:11 pm
victory at last night's debate? were you surprised by the democrat party? >> first i thought the clear winner as you suggested was donald trump. because what we heard was division, discord, and raising taxes. democrats don't have a message. i think if anyone won, it's still elizabeth warren because she has been the front runner and she has emerged as that. but when the 12 or 14 candidates are all going at each other, as you were showing, laura, it doesn't suggest this is a party ready for prime time or a general election with donalddo t trump. >> laura: i watched and kept thinking to myself, this is it? there's got to be someone else whoel is emerging. that is why you keep hearing about bloomberg or michelle obama, she going to emerge? there is something about this field that i don't see as a strong competitors to the president. >> especially when biden was supposed to be the strong competitor against the
11:12 pm
president. and what we are finding is he is getting weaker and weaker, especially when you look at the fact that he barely has cash in hand while you look at the other candidates who are more extreme, like warren or sanders really taking off, getting small donor donations, and also being able to push a much more radical agenda. when you listen to them, it's a take away your private health insurance, raise your taxes, take away your guns. the common sense american is saying, wait a second, this is going way too far. plus they don't even talk about the economy. >> laura: how can you go to the debate and not talk about china? how can you do a debate and, they mentioned that four times that it was all in passing. >> there was no china and there was no jobs. the democratic party has always consisted --o >> laura: of blue-collar workers. how are they going to raise the standard of living of blue-collar workers better than trump has done a question like they have no answer for that and tethey know they have no answer for that.
11:13 pm
>> and the fact that their villains of the corporations. they're going to go after the businesses. >> it's socialism. >> is completely socialism. when they get excited because aoc justes endorsed bernie sanders -- >> the whole squad is doing it. >> laura: what is going on there? before i get to beto o'rourket. and his gun grab, because this is unbelievable what is coming out of his mouth. aoc in the squad endorsing bernie sanders on saturday. i do consider her to be theva thought leader of the democratic party. i take her seriously since day one. people ridicule her and we can tease and that's fine. but she really believes a set of things and pretty much she believes in a couple of weeks what the democrats are going to embrace as far as i can tell. >> sanders calls himself a socialist, and the squad and aoc want primacy and power in the party. if they went with warren, she calls herself capitalist, albeit
11:14 pm
one with socialist principles. maintaining power and influence in the democratic party increasingly looks to aoc and the squad for leadership. >> and they are true believers. aoc and the squad are true believers. >> laura: it's kind of the opposite of trump. they believe different things but theyru are warriors for what they believe in and hent is a warrior for what he believes in. may the best group win. >> he started off the socialist revolution in the united states, is when really you saw the groundswell for that, and warren hasn't taken up that mantle as bernie has. >> laura: i keep thinking it's really about a future presidential run for aoc. this is about building, excitement, and bernie still has the excitement. i didn't see a greater groundswell of excitement or hear it, even in that room for warren. i didn't hear it last night. >> you know what, she is the best of a very bad bunch to the democrats because, you are right, she doesn't offer much. but aoc, laura, i've looked at the polling. she is among the most popular
11:15 pm
democrat in the country including the congressional leadership and the 14 candidates. >> laura: she hasre social media, she's attractive, people watch and say why are you building her up? because this is where it's going and america has to understand, you may not like every thing about trump's tweets, but this is a starkst choice. i'm going to be on the sidelines, people trashing -- like, okay, ben. gentle ben. we will see how it all works out for you when we have elizabeth warren or bernie sanders. >> premarket democrats like me who believe in a strong national defense, helping the middle class. we are left out. aoc does not speak for me and there are a lot of democrats whh think like i do. >> laura: i want to talk about what this beto gun-grab thing is all about. again, he is speaking in many ways like aoc is thinking and tweeting. but he is out there running for president. he's not ready for prime time yet but this b is what happened.
11:16 pm
>> let's just assume there is a rancher in texas that doesn't, that says i'm not going to do this because this is an unjust law and is unconstitutional. what is the next step? >> there will have to be consequences or else there is no respect for the law. in that case, i think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm. >> laura: a visit? what did they say? they said they weren't for gun wnfiscation. they are for gun confiscation. >> completely. >> i would say he is the stream of consciousness of the democratic party. >> laura: he is saying what they are trying to hide. he knew exactly what he is going to do but he was like, no, of course not. >> that is what you do in communist countries. he going to take away their guns. that is where it starts. >> this country can be refer reasonable gun control, expanding background checks and red flag laws but gun confiscation, goes way too far. >> that is where the democrats are at. go save that party if you can. >> i am doing all i can, trust
