recorded 33,000 murders -- that's almost a double of murders were reported in this country. but mexico has one-third as many people as we do, to put it in some perspective. this year, they may break their own murder record. you would never know any of this by watching american media. our press does not cover mexico, except in the most caricatured terms. our leaders wring their hands of the syrian/turkey border but they fear a resurgence of isis, but the people who played a tape of that isis is a scary threat along with iran, but they don't seem to care at all about the sinaloa cartel along our southern border. isis is awful and in theory they might kill americans in terror attacks, but the sinaloa cartel is killing thousands of americans every year? how? they are the biggest single smuggler of fentanyl in the

have something of a stalemate going on in syria. washington is paying attention to the latter, not the former. why? >> well, falluja on the rio grande does not seem to interest them much. if you look at this footage and go back over the last 5-10 years in iraq or afghanistan, you'll see the same kinds of people in pickup trucks running around with assault weapons. i look carefully at this footage and i was shocked to see some of these mercenaries working for the drug cartels carrying squad automatic weapons. this is weaponry you'd only find in the u.s. army and marine corps. they completely outgunned the opposition. so there is no question that this is a very powerful force. this force reaches into the united states. they have tentacles that reach into communiqués in los angeles and chicago, baltimore, phoenix, arizona. the kind of violence we are seeing right now in mexico could inevitably explode in this country unless we close and

secure the border and begin to rebuild the rule of law in the united states. why is no one interested? well, the chamber of commerce isn't lobbying very hard and the body is making money defending the united states, but there are a lot of powerful lobbies who are very interesting in enriching senators and congressmen willing to keep u.s. forces in syria. >> what would you say to a u.s. senator, republican or democrat, because on this subject i would say equally guilty who is spending all of his time learning about the kurds and iran and syria and ignoring what's happening just south of texas? >> the collective indifference to the american people and the security of this country is not going unnoticed. and millions of people in states like kentucky, north carolina, south carolina are having buyer's remorse. if they think they can depend exclusively on donors to get them reelected and keep them in
