taking this content off? >> reporter: content moderation is key. a lot of companies are moving away from looking at content and looking at the way actors behave on the platform to detect the bad stuff but i think moderation is going to be key to a healthy platform and tick-tock is right in this case. this is an industry problem. it highlights the need for tech companies to work together to remove and identify and detect terrorist platforms and get it off there plot form. carley: there is a new strategy on facebook to combat election interference in the 2020 election but they also say they found evidence that iran and russia have tried to metal so this will be an ongoing issue in 2020. >> reporter: completely. iran is dealing from russia's playbook to so discord and

ferment unrest and exacerbate divisions that exist in political discourse internal to the united states, that is something we should keep an eye on especially as nationstates particularly those with authoritarian leanings undermine democracies worldwide across the globe. what china is doing in hong kong with this information, what china did in taiwan's elections, the us is specifically targeted but other democracies worldwide, it is something we have to coordinate and work together on as democracies to prevent russia from taking this playbook and putting across the world which they already are. rob: they have three things, identify in, quote, they will put on labels, identifying state-controlled media outlets and new security tools for elected officials.

some might ask why is it facebook's responsibility to protect our elections? why our congress is not doing more to fix something like this. >> it is everybody's responsibility in our democracy to protect our elections. the role of private tech companies in the road leading up to 2020, i am glad they are taking on this initiative and doing it very smartly you, looking at content, identity, amplification and these are the three keyways our enemies can get at us. it is good to have a plan but also comes from other organizations. the us government organized the fight. a whole society or government, private tech company problem as well. we all have to work together to ensure our democracy is healthy and can keep going forward and do what we need to do to protect american interests in the world. >> it is good that they can't

since they do so much for me i knew i needed to give back to others. people are doing something to help me and help in my life and make my life better i need to help other people and make their life better. jillian: that puts together great care packages for servicemembers. what do you put in your care packages? >> our care packages are filled with a bunch of goodies. we collect donations from our community. we put stuff like beef jerky, hard candy, ramen noodles, games and a bunch of other things get donated to us in our care packages. rob: you sent thousands of these and raised a lot of money to make these care packages. we can put on the screen you can donate items or money and submit names for care packages, people that might want them, right thank you cards for the care package then come to a packing party. i understand you get letters

from servicemembers that receive pack -- care packages. i imagine that has to be the best part of this thing, getting a letter back from somebody in afghanistan. >> it definitely is. just one thing we are doing to help our military, one care package, one note from home, making an impact on their life makes us continue to do what we are doing because knowing a small impact or something small can make such a huge impact on someone at life no matter what age you are whether you are 9 or 80 you can make an impact on someone's life and it is incredible to see their stories coming back to us and knowing the community support from back home makes him happy and make them have a purpose. >> you have a good heart and you have a bright future, great job.

patriotism. you can see them taking down and folding an american flag outside of a burning laundromat in washington state. they said they had no idea somebody was recording. >> it was a job that i believe most firefighters would do. it's not heroic. it was symbolic. if it had gone unnoticed, nothing would have changed. it would have been done exactly the same way. rob: that's great. after the flames were put out, the flag went right back up. carley: next the bad. school under fire after having students wear cardboard boxes. wanted to stop cheating. the school has apologized. rob: write all the answers on the inside of the box. carley: so true. finally the ugly. a local news reporter is fired after jumping on top of new cars during a live report. so classic cars as with. people watching at home were in shock. sharing the moment on social media from the international auto show. the reporter hopping up, look at this, on to that old
