open hearings are expected to begin sometime this month. she told "bloomberg news" that there is no deadline to wrap up this probe. meanwhile another key democrat in the house says she thinks the process going forward would be fair. >> it's extremely inclusive of republicans in which the classified setting and that gives them the opportunities to subpoena. if this does go to judiciary committee the president's council is allowed to be present, ask questions and make closing arguments. >> the last witness of this week was tim morrison, but it's difficult assessing his impact. we have been able to read his opening statement but don't know anything about his hours of testimony. you get the sense there has been plenty of friction in these closed definitions.

named a replacement for al baghdadi so quickly. what does that mean for the continuing fight against isis and other terror groups? >> it suggests that there is some degree of organization, they have essentially a kingmaker's contingent that is able to have this kind of conversation and reach a decision. historically we have seen with al qaeda and isis, they tended to do pretty well at rallying around their leadership. there are times where they will split off or not follow a previous leader, and in fact isis and al qaeda diverged within syria. generally speaking these groups do have an ability despite their brutality and despite their lack of sophistication in so many ways, they are recruiting as a

>> chris: the middle class in terms of salaries for workers or even some job cuts. >> chris: remember both sides pay that. whatever you get besides that is just something that goes to uncle sam. the bigger issue i think here is looking up money for a static kind of thing. chris, that is realistic. we've already learned in states that have tried to use her taxes on the wealthy that the wealthy move, or they find other ways or they go someplace else. we see not in california where a lot of them just skipped over the border and went to nevada. many of the billionaires, and appropriate view of them, i discovered they got that way because they are pretty shrewd with their money and alternative places to go. so that's not a static number and expecting that you can get that is probably realistic. but she's gone full throttle.

>> chris: i've got about a minute left. the trump economy i think we could all agree has stayed remarkably strong. what do you think the economic impact of all the tax sites including this one and all the new regulations? what do you think the economic impact could be? >> of these are not just tax hikes, these are gargantuan tax hikes. the notion that you could get that and then not expect the economic impact, i know what she's talking about saving when it comes to the health care system and that will produce some new burgeoning activity in the economy. it has not been borne out in prayer chances here but the fact of the matter is, say whatever you will about the president, lowering taxes and cutting regulations, that has streamlined the country to the degree now that businesses are environmental and cylinders may not be as robustly as they were a little more than a year ago. most of the earnings i see, even with the trade worry is that i

process of analyzing them. right now it's unclear if there is any additional evidence on the devices but if there is does not change the secondary game murder charge to something more serious? if prosecutors can gather evidence that suggest that crespo had intent to commit the crime he could be looking at first-degree murder. >> chris: what are the folks at amazon saying about handing over the recording from the alexa device? >> they are not confirming or denying that they did release the recording to the police. here's what they did tell us. amazon says alexa doesn't begin recording until you say or shout out the wake word alexa and a blue light indicator will appear and an audio tone will alert on a device. you can also delete conversations by asking alexa to do so. here's what our amazon producer told us this morning. "amazon does not disclose customer information in response to government demands unless we

are required to do so to comply with a legally valid and binding order. "amazon rejects two overbroad or inappropriate demands a as a matter of course. now legal experts say amazon won't provide information simply on a government request or demand but they will comply with a court order signed by a judge. so no matter how they got it, police say they have this recording. then, the issue will be can this recording be used in court? questions like, is that really crespo's voice and how do we know that it was him? i was his voice stored? all of those questions have to be gassed out in court. just before coming on air we did receive a response from crespo's defense attorney chris o'toole and he says in this particular case we want the recordings released. we think this is going to exonerate our client. we believe in him 100%.

fire officials say the santa ana winds whipped the flames quickly across ventura county, northwest of los angeles. it's one of many fires burning in the area. christina coleman is reporting live from soma as where the new fire erupted last night. >> right now i'm in the neighborhood where fire trucks are stationed in front of homes to try to protect the property. they are doing controlled burns right now and you can see some of that smoke there, the air quality is poor. they are doing these controlled burns to try to report dry brush from further in. the maria fire started around at 6:30 p.m. last night around south mountain. this fire has burned at least 9,000 acres so far and it's fueled by winds of up to 35 miles per hour. about 7500 people were ordered to evacuate. we had a chance to catch up with the homeowner who said she didn't leave her house because her family trust needs to be

[laughs] >> i'm happy to share it. >> chris: so it's been less than a year and a half since you get the diagnosis of cancer and since then he went through surgery and chemotherapy. i heard that you went through 33 rounds of radiation. so how do you get from all of that in a year and a half to the fact that you're going to run the 26-mile new york marathon on sunday? >> while i was fortunate to have a five olympics career to prepare me for my battle with cancer. it's amazing with how many similarities there are. i had an amazing team and we had an action plan and we got through it one day at a time. through it all i found that staying active helped me maintain my fitness and gave me the mental boost of something to control and get through every single day. >> chris: what do you think serves you better in the fight against cancer, the physical strength or the mental strength?

>> it was knowing that today was tough and getting through it would make a better tomorrow. >> chris: now you found a lump in your breath on mother's day. you are the mother of a small boy. and this was on mother's day about three months after you won the olympic gold. so you go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. take us through that emotional journey. >> that mother's day was an ideal day. i was out with my husband and my son and we were exploring the new place we just moved to and i remember feeling so content. i got that big goal from my ski career and looking at the future, only to feel something and was almost going to dismiss it at first because they felt amazing. knowing my body well, i knew it was something i needed to get
