♪ ♪ it's a beautiful night ♪ it's a beautiful night ♪ i just want to be here ♪ jillian: good morning, you are watching "fox and friends first" on a busy wednesday morning. rob: we will go across the pond during the show. jillian: live look at the nato summit is the room where donald trump and other world leaders will meet at any moment. the president was just introduced on stage at a welcome ceremony, very fluid. rob: you can see mike pompeo, chief white house correspondent john roberts live with more on donald trump's packed day today.

>> reporter: promises to be an interesting day. the president of the official handbrake greeting to meet the uk prime minister boris johnson who is up for reelection next thursday as well as the un secretary-general. the president discussed meetings with the group of nato members, all 28 fellow members of nato. there is also a working lunch, the president has three bilateral meetings with denmark, germany and italy all of whom are below the 2% threshold of gdp the president wants all nato members to give tribute to the alliance driving a lot of the discussion. yesterday the discussion between the president and the manual macron was driven by macron's statement that the alliance was brain-dead as a result of the criticisms donald trump has leveled at it and the move the president has been making like pulling troops away from the

border between syria and turkey. yesterday a bilateral meeting with nato secretary-general, the president firing back at macron. >> a tough statement to make a statement like that. very nasty statement to essentially 28 - a very rough year and you can't go around making statements like that about nato. it is very disrespectful. >> reporter: later in the bilateral meeting with macron the material is critical but still disagreements over funding and the vision for nato and the fact that france and other european nations refuse to take back isis fighters that travels from within their borders to syria. >> would you like some nice isis strategies? i could give them to you. you could take every one you want.

jen stoltenberg who is running nato and to play a little music here, these 29 countries only 22 of these leaders are of countries that are paying the threshold to be a nato member. that 2% of gdp into their defense. most of them to not run countries that are meeting their obligation to nato and that is something that drives the president absolutely crazy. angela merkel on the left in a meeting with merkel today, boris johnson as well. jillian: that meeting expected later today and that is one of the things people are talking about when everybody was talking about the words the president had for french presidency manual macro n, is going to be the focus on germany, likely going to be the focus we expect because germany not paying their 2% threshold. germany will pay 2% by 2031,

jillian: the highlights from yesterday that made news people were talking about, talked at length during the show yesterday morning about south korea, asking south korea to pay more, $500 million a year more. he talked about impeachment and the ig report and china, you are john roberts's piece, maybe it is in my benefit to wait until after the election but he's not going to take a deal. kim jong un that might be what through the markets off quite a bit. everybody milling about trying to figure out where to go. the president has shake in this group up, he called world leaders offer things they don't do that he doesn't like. that big moment with emmanuel macron where he said that the nonanswer. what are they going to do with

isis fighters, people who leave european countries and go to syria and the middle east and commit to isis and when they are caught the united states is bearing the response ability, he says take these people back and do something, nobody wants these people. that is another thing that drives the president crazy about these countries and he called world leaders out, makes for a somewhat difficult relationship. jillian: the other thing the president said 24 hours ago was france needs nato more than nato needs france. he had very pointed words for emmanuel macron, he said nato is brain-dead, the president said that's insulting, nobody needs nato more than france. rob: the president have tough words for nato in the past to be fair to emmanuel macron but there was an interesting press conference yesterday and there they go wandering off to the next event as we see pictures from 10:00 in the morning, the big nato summit.

jillian: any new details as they come forward. the next phase of the impeachment inquiry starts today. after the intel committee released its report claiming the president misused power and obstructed congress. rob: griff jenkins is outside the hearing room where the judiciary committee will meet just hours from now. >> reporter: here we go again. jerry nadler will take it from here with a 300 page report that found the president was guilty of serious misconduct by putting personal interest ahead of national interests. it also included new phone records from rudy giuliani. adam schiff of the intelligence committee had this to say. >> the phone records are remarkably consistent with the coordination of a lot of this scheme. the president of the united states solicited foreign

i am going to ask our one republican witness whether he thinks the things in the report rise to high crimes and misdemeanors or and impeachable offense and his answer to that question if you read anything he wrote is going to be no. nothing here is high crimes and misdemeanors. the standard adam schiff is trying to use for bribery doesn't apply in this circumstance. it is not bribery in the sense adam schiff is saying it is bribery and this is been going on for two years and from the day i was warning to congress members of my own class were calling for his impeachment on day one. it started with russia collusion. we moved from russia collusion to obstruction of justice and we had hearings on that and moved from instruction of justice to corruption. we moved from corruption to this whistleblower and in the whistleblower narrative it changed from quid pro quo, they couldn't prove that when trump issued the transcript so they are going to impeach this president on anything and everything they can possibly think to impeach this president, they have to bring harvard law

professors into convince the american people that he committed and impeachable offense. jillian: look at an excerpt from the impeachment report, this is, quote, the president placed his own personal and political interests above the national interests, sought to undermine the integrity of the us presidential election process and endangered us national security. is there any part of that statement you see as laudable? >> now and there is no evidence to base that statement on. i presumed, hearsay, there's no evidence to base that statement on and that is one of the frustrating things of this process, republicans are dealing in fact and democrats are dealing and what they think was going on and nuances and hearsay evidence. this isn't what would happen in a court of law. murderers and rapists would get more due process than the

president of the united states is getting through this process. he wasn't able to call witnesses, republicans have not able to call the witnesses we want to call and he has not been up to cross-examine his counsel, has not been able to cross-examine witnesses. that has happened in every other impeachment proceeding in the nation. rob: jonathan turley had an article in hell a few days ago when he talks about the comparison between what the president has done and what nixon did. one of the lines is the impeachment began with a felony crime with the watergate burglary sought to encompass an array of crimes involving political slush funds, hush money, tax audits, witness intimidation. democrats in your opinion lose a lot of credibility when they say what the president has done is worse than watergate? >> they are he lost credibility. when i go back to my district, i just got back from florida, when i go back to my district people are upset we are not doing things american people want us to do. usmc a, lowering drug prices, passing a defense budget, keep kicking of the budget can download. we are authorized until
