i'm not working hard on that but i spoke to italy and they're not going forward with that. we spoke to other countries that are not going forward. everybody i've spoken to is not going forward. but how many countries could i speak to and call up and speak to the whole world? this is a security risk in my opinion and ouren. we're building it and we've started but we're not using huawei. >> will you germany -- [inaudible conversations] in term of spending? >> yerm is a little bit urd the limit i will say that but we'll talk about that now. okay thank you very much everybody. for purposes of this we'll be having a meeting with the two -- and we'ring having another meeting with denmark and go probably directly back to washington. i can't imagine, i can't imagine what we'll discuss greenland
5:24 am
what do you think is? tell me -- she must be -- [laughter] that's a very good question. so we'll go directly back i think we've done plenty of press conferences unless you're demanding press conference we'll do one but i think we've had plenty of question. and again, let me just finish by say we have had a tremendous two day i think nato is stronger than it has ever been a lot more money ising being produced by a lot of countries and enthuses yaysic about it and within three years you talk about four committed to 400 billion dollars more and not by the united states. by other country. so it has been very successful today and there's great spirit. okay. thank you very much everybody. >> thank you. thank you. struck by fact that the the question for angela merkel she sat there and as with a biggest economy in europe. you would think there would be some questions become and forth because other bilaterals did.
5:25 am
>> a lot of people wanted to talk to president about about various thing and one of the headline that he called justin trudeau two faced caught on face after president called him out clearly president was setting table he's about to go behind closed doors talk to angela merkel and because yerm is not part of the 2% nato club that is probably going to be a good topic. also the president said we're going to talk about trade and angela merkel said it is a good time in europe right now to talk to the united states about just that. surprised he didn't comment on macron because they had words yesterday. >> question was about mr. trudeau. >> bring in former tone general so president is other there, and how would you characterize how it has been going so far? this is what the the president does the best from world leaders
5:26 am
and in relationships with countries especially in europe and so many of these countries have taken advantage of the united states by not paying their 2% of their defense spending they have been able to support, you know, socialize medicine in other experiments within their own countries in the united states has born that burden by, about by support the defense of the european union and ting that president understands uniquely as to why that's no longer the case and why everybody has to pitch in to do this and again it's the threat are different. i mean russia still sits there as a big channel but there are many other challenges. >> 29 north american or european countries involved in nato and they have formed this alliance how dangerous would it be if we said fine we're only going to pay what everyone else is pay. near as much. >> we are the world's superpower and only superpower. obviously we'ring being challenged by countries like china and russia that would like to compete with us at that level. and so i think we're going to

have to spend more than our fair share to make sure that democrat and freedom is defended worldwide but at the same time, that doesn't mean that the people that we have highed with should ride on coat tail that's what president i think saw when he ran in 2016. he understand it before then, and i think he's implementing that vision. >> fairness who knew that you were going to talk about nato when you came in but that was the breaking news coming up in 90 minutes, jerry knadler is going to gavel in the judiciary committee to start the next phase of impeach m inquiry. does it look like a fair fight to you? >> i've been in front of this committee if you remember i was their first high profile witness. yeah. back in february -- of this year, and no they didn't. but at the same time i -- what i i want american people to understand is impeachment is not a theoretical so putting law professors front of the committee talking about this,
5:28 am
and they're going to color it. they're not gong to give an honest assess m of this really means historically or what the precedent has been because this committee and this congress led by nancy adam schiff jerry knadr have changed the rules of what impeachment is. you know, bill clinton had so much more due process rights than they're giving president trump, and i just is the whole thing look rigged unfair to me. >> president said i had an opportunity to put lawyers out there and jay or others he said no to stay. >> i don't think so. because they didn't know who those witnesses were. but two days ago, and we still don't know what evidence they're going to present there's a report that we've all read, and we don't know what the evidence is going to report we don't know witnesses going to call. i've never gone to a trial or any kind of legal proceedings where i didn't know who i was going to cross examine that seems to me to be strangest. >> from witness withs is it just their argument of why they do or do not think that this is impeachable offense? >> going to hear a lot about

founding father said, they saw this power of impeachment as a correction for a fundamental profound threat to the republic they didn't see it as political tool or as a motion of no confidence. they thought that was the job of the american poem at the election. and so i think the scholar had who are going to come in who are proimpeach respect going to tell us a lot a about their personal ideological bias but i don't think their history is accurate. this is clearly so far below what any of the founding father would have considered impeachable that it is almost the joke. i mean i think founding fathers would have thought this is exactly what they did not want to see happen because it reduces the presidency to a daily political fight rather than to the commander in chief of the nation. >> especially because they've been throwing this out since day one trying to find a different reason each time is collusion, it was obstruction then it was

racism now it's this conversation with the president of ukraine nancy pelosi, you were speaker she's speaker. she said impeachment might have to wait until after cm because too complex to be done quickly. time line, do you think it will happen before, before christmas? >> well look if she doesn't think it is going to happen before krems it won't because she's speaker. but i also think what's happened is they're drifting into a world where after the first of the year, we're in an election year and average american is going to to say wait a second 63 million people elected donald trump. you shouldn't have 200 people unelectinging. we have an election coming up, if the american people think what he's done is wrong they can fire him and i think every day after the first of the year it gets closer to election with the democrats case from impeachment get weaker about and i think you'll start seeing democrats come back from christmas particularly the 31 democrats in the seats that donald trump

least in the very important book that i think every american wants to understand this ought to look at the plot to the president because it is very convincing and newt you know when you look at his book he's talking about the biggest political scandal in american history. and yet it is not really covered like that is it? >> well, i mean, what it really proves is that elite media, "new york times" washington post they are the scandal. so how do they cover themselves? right -- these are the people who are, in fact, at the very heart of this along with the the people who have now been fired at the fbi. people who have been fired at the intelligence committee, and i think what people realize when they read the book is that the -- the system of the left wing establishment is deeper and sicker than we thought and is fighting ferociously to stay alive. >> but mr. speaker here's what to watch, american people and their own jury and if they were

falling victim to this type of propaganda they would not be turning away from impeachment like they are. they would not continue to not continue the president ratings have not budged despite media onslot and i think there's a sense that not one of everyone is buy "new york times" washington post, and what is coming out. >> look, i thinking what really misleads the democrats is if you go to new york city or you go to california you're in places where the anti-trump feeling is so intense that you look around and think that's the whole country but when you leave these two very, very blue states, and you go out to whole rest of the country start with florida, you all of a sudden realize that one millions of american who is don't believe it. two, there are even more americans that don't care that they're saying this is all junk and political noise, it is not true and ting that democrats in that sense are beginning to find that they're risking losing 30 or 40 or 50 see by going forward request this because when you

clause in the constitution and all they've ever agreed on is that an opposing party should not exploit the impeachment clause and remove a president for political reasons. that in my judgment is exactly what adam schiff and nancy pelosi and jerry knadler are doing and the framers fear that they would do it which is why in their wisdom they instituted this procedural protection against it. two-thirds supermajority in the senate to remove a president. >> kevin, you know the math. there aren't that many senators who want to kick this guy out. so you have to wonder why is nancy pelosi doing it to your point earlier it is not bipartisan. across congress, just looks like a way to give bloody nose heading into 2020. >> speaker as chairman has said the president gave him no choice right, and hopefully if a democrat president had done this, and democrats were in control of the house they would also move forward on these lines
