tv   Hannity  FOX News  December 19, 2019 6:00pm-7:00pm PST

6:00 pm
we will be back tomorrow night, 8:00 p.m., the show that is the sworn enemy of lying, pomposity, smugness, and groupthink. good night from washington, d.c., the nation's capital whether you like it or not. sean hannity is next. sean? >> jason: almost sean hannity. >> tucker: jason! good to see you. >> jason: welcome to "hannity," and tonight for sean. after weeks of nonstop hysteria, dramatic earrings, and a lightning fast impeachment proceeding, nancy pelosi is no longer sure that she'll submit the articles of impeachment to the united states senate. that's right. democrats told us that the impeachment charade must move at record speed because the president of the united states is an imminent threat to the election. but they are in no hurry to make it official. watch this.
6:01 pm
>> that would've been our intention, but we will see what happens over there. you are asking me, are we all going to go out and play in the snow -- that has not been part of our conversation. i said, we are going to tonight because it's difficult to determine who the managers would be until we've seen in the arena in which we will be participating. >> jason: did she say come and go out and play in the snow? speaker pelosi has one major problem. she's completely outmatched by her counterpart in the united states senate. take a look. >> speaker pelosi suggested that house democrats may be too afraid to even transmit their shoddy work product to the senate. mr. president, looks like the
6:02 pm
prosecutors are getting cold feet in front of the entire country and second-guessing whether or not they want to go to trial. they said impeachment was so urgent that it could not even wait for due process, but now they are content to sit on their hands. >> jason: clearly, the democrats' impeachment charade is not backfiring. the republican party just set a fund-raising record, hauling in over $20 million in the month of november. president trump is gaining in almost every poll, and speaker pelosi has been coined "the swamp mistress" on the cover of "the new york post" which is calling last night's impeachment vote her funeral today, president trump on offense fighting against the democrats' discussing political scampi at writing on twitter, after the democrats gave me no due process in the house, no witnesses, no lawyers, no nothing, they want to tell the senate how to run their trial? they actually have zero proof of anything. they will never even show up.
6:03 pm
they want out. i want an immediate trial." as the president points out, this whole ordeal is one big set up. watch. >> i don't feel like i'm being impeached because it's a hoax. it's a set up. it's a horrible thing they did. they happen to have a small majority and they took a small majority in the forest people appear they said, oh, i watched pelosi out there saying, no, we do not want to talk to anybody. they tried to get them to do what they had to do. many people were like jeff where they didn't want to vote that way. it doesn't feel like impeachme impeachment. >> jason: tonight, one thing remains true. no matter what the democrats there at president trump, his agenda continues to succeed. the house finally passed the president's trade deal which
6:04 pm
would officially replace nafta. joining me with a reaction to all of today's news is ohio congress min jim jordan and house freedom chairman andy biggs of arizona. congressman jordan, i want to start with you. i guess we forgot to ask or somebody forgot to ask speaker pelosi if you actually pass it at lightning speed this impeachment, are you going to send it over to the senate? is that something you're supposed to ask along the way? >> again, it's laughable if it wasn't so serious. the idea that nancy pelosi is going to try to negotiate with mitch mcconnell and tell him mitch mcconnell how to run the senate? that is laughable. here's what happened to him as number 24th when pelosi announced they go down this crazy impeachment road commission never thought she'd lose support across the country and she never expected to lose support in our own congress. had one democrat vote for us, another democrat voted president, and a third democrats
6:05 pm
which parties because everyone sees the facts are on the president's side. she doesn't know what to do because they had been had in the american people see through it. >> jason: congressman bigs, what are you seeing on the floor when you see these democrats? i just can't believe we are in a scenario where the speaker is contemplating not sending it over to the united states sena senate? >> you and i are as baffled as to put the squeeze on your members to get enough votes to do it, you violate every historical norm to get in impeachment this way, and then she says, i'm not going to send it over to the senate? it's outrageous. i think it's justified to say, look, transmission necessary to complete the active impeachment? i'm not sure that's a legitimate question. i think it's a legitimate
6:06 pm
question. good grief, they are not happy either. >> jason: you are from ohio. a big important statement only politically but to the farming industry. the benefits of the usmca. why did nancy pelosi wait? she could've done it a year ago. why did she wait until today to bring up that vote? >> well, i think it gives them cover for the people who voted for impeachment because it certainly not playing in our state. ohio is going to go -- it was 8.5 points for president trump in 2016. the president is getting things done, but he's been doing that in three years despite the attacks from the left and the democrats and the mainstream press. the economy growing at an unbelievable pace, lois on employment 50 years, corsets and kavanaugh in the court, the embassy now in jerusalem. you just pointed out, and you nafta agreement past the house today. that's with the american people see, they also see this impeachment sham for what it is,
6:07 pm
a sham. >> jason: congress in vegas, the nancy pelosi that i saw, she didn't do anything until she ran it through a pollster and ran it through a focus group. is she just buying time putting where they ought to be putting a finger to the wind and figure out where they should be when you reconvene on january 27th? >> i think she's off script to be honest with you, and to be honest, i think this is the dog that caught the car. she is there, she wants mitch mcconnell to do things a certain way, she's not going to get mitch mcconnell to go a certain way. you are right, they poll tested what they should say in the floor speeches, what they should say in the language they accuse the president of committing, but when you get down to the bottom of it, she's having to go against somebody without being able to pull test it, without able to scripted, she has run up against a guy in mitch mcconnell who is basically authoritative and made up his
6:08 pm
mind. she's rudderless right now. they honestly don't know what to do. >> jason: congressman jordan, i have to go really quick. listen, nancy pelosi back in march sounded reasonable saying, if you are going to move with impeachment, it's got to be bipartisan, got to be overwhelming. what changed? why did she get herself back in the corner that she is in right now? >> i think andy is right. no amount of poll setting, and the amount of changing the rules, setting the rules, and changing the rules that you made, no all the facts were on the president's side. when you have the facts, you can win this debate. that's exactly what happened over the last several months. she said that this was going to be part partisan, the overwhelming support? she's got this hard left base in the party. they pushed her to do this, they try to say the right thing, but the facts beat that every single time and that's what happened here. >> jason: i want you to speed
6:09 pm
quickly. i left congress, had a better balance in my life, we are hearing mark meadows is going to retire. the impact that's going to have on congress as a whole? let's start with you, congressman jordan and congressman bigs. >> probably my best friend. the kind of individual you want in public service pretty he's fought for the pens balls that make our country special for the folks in north carolina arm going to miss tremendously, the president is going to miss his great work. i hate to see him go. we mark meadows is the guy you want to fight in congress to make america the greatest place ever. >> a true leader. change the institution. i think it's going to be a generational change. i'm happy that i've been calling on my friend and mentor, i think he's got great things ahead of him. i wish him the very best and
6:10 pm
godspeed, because i think they are just heroes to this country. true patriots. spewing congressman jordan, congressman >> jason: he's done amazing work. merry christmas to y'all. now, we want to get reaction out of the white house. we have with us former florida attorney general and special, special advisor to the president pam bondi. thank you for joining us here tonight. unbelievable, the velocity of changes and the positions that nancy pelosi has taken, but what's the latest thinking from the white house? >> here is the latest thinking. always our thinking, we are ready to go. we are going to beat her in the senate, we want to beat her in the senate. if you heard what professor feldman said, who was there expert in the house judiciary, that this doesn't even qualify as impeachment until its sent over to the senate. i think she is trying be cute and it backfired on her.
6:11 pm
the only thing bipartisan about this was against the democrats. you know, this is a sham that's been going on since day one. but if they want to start tomorrow, we are ready. if they want to start next week, we are ready. we have the truths, the facts, our law on our side. all they have are the silly games that are on president because you know it's never been done before. >> jason: you spend time with the president. what's he thinking about? speak of the president is doing great. i was with him today. the president is going nonstop, working for our country. i watched him do it on a daily basis. it's truly amazing. the rally last night, wow, sure doesn't look like i just got impeached. thousands of people who couldn't even get in. he's just continuing the work nonstop of the people. usmca, the china trade deal put look at the dow, look at unemployment.
6:12 pm
everything president trump is doing nonstop. and he's not going to stop. he's not going to stop for the next five years because he has a phenomenal he is a phenomenal president. do you know who sees it? the american people. nancy pelosi's little game is going to backfire on her and president trump is doing great. >> jason: pam bondi from the white house. thank you. the impeachment stunt has been a political sham from the beginning. house were presented of ratcliff called it a house of cards. watch. >> do you know who does not think the democrats have presented enough testimony to impeach president trump today? it's the democrats. sure in the house, democrats running this inquiry have declared they've done everything needed. they have all the testimony and evidence necessary to impeach right now. down the hall, democrats and the senate are saying the exact opposite. they are complaining. they need more evidence and more testimony because senate
6:13 pm
democrats know that house democrats have built them a house of cards impeachment. >> jason: john ratcliffe, one of the smartest people in the united states congress. now, nancy pelosi can do whatever she wants with her partisan proceedings, but the united states senate is not going to play her little game. that includes senate judiciary chairman lindsey graham who tweeted, quote, nancy pelosi's threat to transmit the house of senate is incredibly dumb and dangerous idea. there was a reason one person can't be the speaker of the house and senate majority leader at the same time. senator ted cruz also speaking out, claiming that democrats are now in panic mode. watch. >> i think the democrats are in a total panic peered yesterday was a very, very bad day for democrats and a bad day for the house of opposite additives and for the country. when it comes to policy, or threat is really remarkable. the threat is to the senate, do
6:14 pm
exactly what i want or i'm not going to impeach the president. my attitude is, okay, throw us in that briar patch. that's all right. we actually have work to do. >> jason: good point. what will ultimately happen in the united states senate? joining us now with more is senator mike lee from the great state of utah. also a member of the senate judiciary committee. senator lee, what do you see the proceedings that happened, what was passed in the house, what happens if they don't send over the articles to the united states senate? >> what happens is nothing for it lands with a thud. it's like a tree that falls in the forest with no one there to hear it. look, there is a i do not understand why she did what she did, but it makes no sense. in any event, i'm with ted cruz on this. i say bring it on to throw us in that briar patch. it's just fine if she does not
6:15 pm
want to do it. nancy pelosi is doing this because she's scared to death. this thing is a gigantic hobgoblin for her. she's freaked out by it and she does not want to entrust us with conducting a trial. why? she knows it'll end very badly for her. >> jason: the argument that john ratcliffe makes the same time the democrats in the house and nancy pelosi are saying this, it's overwhelming, obvious to anybody who looks at it that the people you sit next to and united states senate are saying, we don't have anything to work with over here. is that the right read of this? >> yeah. we do and not have anything to work with in the sense that there is nothing there. there is no there there. they realize they screwed this up. in an effort to ram this thing through, they did a shoddy job of letting us together for that, by the way, is the excuse they used for denying the president of his due process rights. they say, should, we didn't do a
6:16 pm
very good job of this. she tries to extort us. and use this as a tool for extortion, this idea that, well, if you don't eat your vegetables, you're not getting your dessert. as if impeachment were a reward for us? it's strange but it's not going to work, it's going to backfire badly. >> jason: also here from the democrats, there are going to be people in the senate who will defect, but i have not heard that has any legitimacy behind it, that there are any sort of defections, but there might be some democrats that come over and join republicans. >> yeah, i think that's right. between the two, the idea of republican defections and democratic defections, i will be far more surprised if i see a single republican defection then i will be, if we see multiple democratic defections voting against removal. why? he has not done anything impeachable, nothing in criminal, nothing anything wro wrong. where trump succeeded where
6:17 pm
president obama tried and failed for years, to get ukraine to investigate burisma. not impeachable, not wrong. >> jason: mitch mcconnell, you've not always been in lockstep with mitch mcconnell. how do you think how the senate republicans will deal with this if it eventually makes its way over to the senate? >> i think mitch mcconnell is handling this exactly right. i love his strategy on impeachment. i think he's got it exactly right, we need to hear the arguments if and when they ever present the articles of impeachment to us, and if they don't, that is fine. we'll move on to but we'll do other stuff. it'll be better for the country if that happens. if they do ever bother to send those articles to us, we are going to hear arguments and we'll figure out where to go from there. we do not have to right the whole story at the outset, but let this unfold and let's let them present our arguments to u. >> jason: senator leahy, thank you. merry christmas to you and your family. up next, the reckoning of
6:18 pm
deep state abuse. the russia probe just getting started. attorney general barr spoke to fox's martha maccallum about possible consequences for deep state actors. we'll be right back with the tape.
6:19 pm
6:20 pm
6:21 pm
6:22 pm
6:23 pm
>> jason: more developments tonight in the quest for equal justice. as attorney general bill barr sat down with our own martha maccallum and made one thing clear, the boomerang of justice is in full swing. take a look. >> i think some of them are very hard to square with the idea that these were just mistakes and sloppiness. horowitz himself in his testimony i think pretty well summed it up, which is this could be on the one hand at the very least grow some confidence. on the other hand, it could be improper motive. he was not in a position to make that call, and that's why we have the was attorney john durham looking into this. one of the things that i object to is the attack from comey which is to suggest that people criticizing or getting to the bottom of the misconduct are
6:24 pm
somehow attacking the fbi. i think that's nonsense. we are concerned about misconduct by a few actors at the top of the fbi. and they should be criticized if they engaged in serious misconduct. >> jason: breaking tonight from "the new york times," durham is scrutinizing ex-cia director brennan's role in cia findings as he continues to direct their real origins of the russia probe and the deep states abuse of power. joining me now for a reaction is the author of the book "witch hunt," great book on the topic, fox news legal analyst gregg jarrett, along with fox news contributor stanley bruce and sara carter. thank you for joining us tonight. i want to get your reaction, because martha did a wonderful interview. there is more of the interview that will air tomorrow night on fox, but we heard from the attorney general himself, what is one of your big takeaways or
6:25 pm
thoughts, from the attorney general that we get from you? >> the attorney general william barr has been given a significant task, we have not seen this in modern history, modern residential history. what i took away from it is when he said to him a look, this is not about criticizing the fbi, we know there are remarkable agents doing their best to protect us. but when you have a culture of corruption at the top of the fbi, when there is an obvious malfeasance at the fbi, they need to shed light on it, they need to route it out, and they need to hold people accountable. this is not a two-tiered system of justice, and it shouldn't be. another quick point, jason, people all over the world are looking to us now to see how we handle this, and how our system handles it. we have a great system. if it's allowed to work. i believe that durham and barr are going to make it work, and it's going to be significant and
6:26 pm
reflect who we are as a nation. >> jason: that's what makes the united states different from every power on the planet, we are self-critical and we do go back and look at these things. i was struck by the specificity and the things he brought up specific in the interview that they are looking at. >> first of all from the clip, he's not buying the b.s. being peddled by james comey. none of it. and what struck me most of all was he wondered aloud to martha, why didn't the fbi end's investigation before trump ever took office when they learned that the dossier was junk and the investigation of trump was "falling apart." he's not really buying the papadopoulos-barr talk as the trigger for the trump investigation. he suspects that is the pretext to investigate trump which is exactly the argument i made in my book.
6:27 pm
tonight, i having heard that interview where john brennan or glenn simpson the fusion gps, or christopher steele, or any of the other actors in the intelligence agencies? i would have my criminal lawyers on speed dial because he made it pretty much clear that he is going after not only the intel agencies but private actors. >> jason: this is one of the points, tammy, that horwitz can only look at the fbi. in the fbi's insistence that the probe started in 2015, they will be looking at what is the precursor and the predicate, a bigger question that there seems to be a lot of indication is above and beyond just the fbi. >> yes. one of the things that so valuable about this interview with martha, for years we've only been hearing from one side. we have been literally swamped with the negativity, the one sightedness, the arguments from
6:28 pm
the media carrying democratic arguments, and the government has to worry about legitimacy a. about justice, the rule of law as it applies to people in the government. finally, this interview gives us a little bit of insight that barr may be the person, finally have an attorney general who is serious about this, looking beyond the one agent who "change the fisa warrant" to get it passed him a much broader than that, i was pretty early struck when martha asked him about why if we were worried about the interference during the election, weick wasn't candidates and president-elect trump given a defensive briefing about what the nature of what russia was supposed to be doing to this election. he said he was interested in that choice to not give him a briefing that he may have been a target or the russians are trying to do this, which tells you the level of corruption involved in this house of cards that they've built up. >> jason: sara, that comes out
6:29 pm
in spades when you go through and read inspector general horowitz's report. but the question martha threw to the inspector general, he does talk about the idea that a defensive briefing is a real question mark. >> the defensive briefing is so significant that i've written about this, before i've written about this over a year ago, if they offer an defensive briefing to hillary clinton, why wouldn't they offer the same type of detailed defensive briefing to president trump? there can only be one answer. if you really think this through, with all the evidence they knew, they wanted to spy on members of the trump campaign. if they gave them the detailed defensive briefing, they would not be able to do that. >> jason: gregg, we talked off-line about this. where is this going? >> it's on page 76 as he reminded me earlier tonight and reread it again. sally eights, attorney general, as well as obama, and the
6:30 pm
attorney general loretta lynch all recommended a defensive briefing. comey didn't do that. why? driven by bias, he wanted to spy on the trump campaign and frame him on a collusion hoax that never existed. if you are looking for a bias and horwitz couldn't find it, it's right there in plain sight. >> it better be more than brennan. you cannot have one sick official lamb, if you well. cannot focus this on brennan or glenn simpson, we'll take these people out if they need to be dealt with within the site justice system itself. it's got to be equal justice of everyone regardless who you are. >> it's real stupid of comey to criticize the attorney general who holds in his hands to indict and prosecute james comey. that is arrogant. >> jason: he put out his op-ed in "the washington post," printed it, put it out online before they even had read the report. i'm glad to see
6:31 pm
"the new york times," by the way, they are a year behind "canidae," at least they are trying to catch up. they'll get through someday. may be. up next, more bad news for hunter biden. trace gallagher will have the report. you'll want to hear about this. members of the media caught celebrating trump's impeachment. you can't make this stuff up. we will be right back with more. r with your reader, iphone or android and manage your diabetes. with the freestyle libre 14 day system, a continuous glucose monitor, you can check your glucose levels any time, without fingersticks. ask your doctor to write a prescription for the freestyle libre 14 day system. you can do it without fingersticks. learn more at freestylelibre.us woi felt completely helpless.hed without fingonline.s. my entire career and business were in jeopardy.

>> jason: welcome back to hannity. hunter biden sketchy finances are coming under increased scrutiny in his ongoing paternity suit. he is doing his best to keep his income under wraps. fox news chief braking is corresponded trace gallagher joins us live with the latest. >> of the mother of hunter biden 16-year-old love child filed additional court papers this week saying biden is of refusing to answer even basic answers about his finances. suing for the cost of a dna test which prove the child was in fact biden's. alleges biden has provided no support for this child for over a year. the court should not let the defendant continued to avoid his natural and legal duty to support his child by failing to
6:37 pm
provide basic information about his incoming, finances, and lifestyle. biden's team has failed to will cooperate with a list of requests, like information on bank accounts, financial assets, and all sources of incomes the past couple of years, including his time on the board of burisma more biden reportedly earned $53,000 a month, and money from his various investment firms gained in china. a judge has already scolded biden for not complying. by the way, we should mention that hunter biden's new wife is reportedly expecting his fifth child. jason? >> jason: wow. i did not know that. trace, thank you. following last night's hyperpartisan vote, the hate trump media is developing in the impeachment frenzy. "the washington post" is under fire after one of the reporters posted a photo to twitter of the staff celebrating impeachmas,
6:38 pm
after reporters on cable news gushing after impeachment unfolded. >> you can put lipstick on a pig but at the end of the day, you are still an impeached president. >> negative as it can get when you talk about the kind of stain that can be on a president's record. >> it's an extraordinary rebuke. >> he is wounded. >> somebody who understands that today was reflective of the strength of the republic, the greatness of the republic in some ways. >> jason: joining me with reaction is author of the children's book, "paloma wants to be lady freedom," fox contributor rachel campos duffy. and nationally syndicated radio host larry elder. i love to joke with rachel because her husband and i served with in congress, he's a great guy too. but we love rachel all the more.
6:39 pm
i want to go with you first. pick your story, but the media doesn't seem to get the idea that they need to give a fair and balanced perspective out here. >> i love what you just read in the intro because it shows what a bubble these journalists are living in on this. they think the news of the day is that this is a stain on donald trump. the news of the day is that he's impeached and he's having all these winds and the rest of the confirmatory down the country is not hang attention to it and he's going on and having succes. what you see the tweet from "the washington post" who tweeted out, mary impeachment merry impeachment. she takes the tweet down and said, no, that's not what i meant. all this is is the latest example of trump derangement syndrome with the media, how biased they are, how sloppy they are getting because they live in such a bubble.
6:40 pm
>> jason: joe is joining us on set new york. happy impeachmas? she took it down and try to change her story. >> if we saw the tweet, we misinterpreted what the meaning was in the situation? not a good look for "the washington post." also a cnn contributor, by the way. a "usa today" poll asked a thousand likely voters, who do you think the media is rooting for, hillary clinton or donald trump? by a 10-1 margin, the public said hillary clinton, including clinton supporters who saw it that way. that's the perception, right? loolook at 2016 again, the hell does a tally. how many major newspapers were endorsing hillary clinton and how many donald trump? 57 for hillary clinton. what did that get him, as set of you saw the eclipse that you saw before. this is devastating for the
6:41 pm
president. if that's the case, why are his poll numbers now on a 12-point upswing since impeachment proceedings began? his gallop approval rating is higher than president obama's was at this stage of the presidency. president obama went on to win the 2012 election quite easily. i do not think it ruins him, it strengthens him. his bases more energized than ever before and independents are looking at democrats and saying, you've done nothing. this president is getting something done and this impeachment show was a show about nothing. >> jason: larry module makes a great point. i also want to ask you in conjunction with that, is it fair to ask you this question and follow the story about vice president biden's son and these paternity suits and the lack of financial information that he has not paid? is that going too far after somebody's family or is that right to ask in this public discourse and discussion we are having this country?
6:42 pm
>> it's politics. are you telling me if donald trump's son had issues, the democrats would have a hands-off approach, the media would have a hands-off approach? i'd rather doubt it. about "the washington post," understand something. "the washington post" has never, ever endorsed a republican president in its entire history. "the new york times" is never at her since 1966. this is the kind of blatant bias we are talking about. "the washington post" has an ombudsperson, a job whose person's job is to make sure that people are exercising their journalistic integrity. no question, more pictures of obama than john mccain, more stories about obama than john mccain, more flattering pictures of obama than john became, no questions are the own paper is biased and for obama. >> jason: the media never figured out why donald trump won the election and the way they post up these pictures and you
6:43 pm
have nancy pelosi trying to scold her members, do not be cheerful and all that. it's all a facade and america sees right through it. i appreciate all three of you and your perspectives. joe, larry, rachel, merry christmas and thank you for joining us tonight. coming up, the squad speaking up about impeachment. you won't believe what they are saying. dan bongino and geraldo rivera coming up next. if you see wires down,
6:44 pm
6:45 pm
6:46 pm
6:47 pm
treat them all as if they are hot and energized. stay away from any downed wire, call 911 and call pg&e right after so we can both respond out
6:48 pm
and keep the public safe. >> jason: the moral, intellectual leaders of the democratic party known as the squad have been pushing for impeachment. despite pelosi pushing her members look somber, socialist congressman rashida tlaib couldn't contain her sheer joy. >> him, everyone. i'm on my way to the united states house floor to impeach president trump. on behalf of my incredible district, let's do this. >> jason: the mean-spirited, impetuous congresswoman from michigan won't win any awards for civility.
6:49 pm
but that will not stop her fellow squad allies from defending her colleague when she gets called out on the house floor. listen closely. >> in january, when we all stood in his body, we stood up, we raised our hands, we swore would uphold the constitution, and a few mere hours after that, congresswoman tlaib said she was going to impeach the mother fer. those are not my words! >> jason: the voice you heard in the background was reportedly congresswoman ilhan omar. apparently the truth was just too much for her to hear. here now with the reaction are the fox news can jupiter bongino and fox news correspondent at large geraldo rivera. it's an honor to have you on this program, but i want to go to you first hear. "the washington post" literally
6:50 pm
after donald trump was sworn in and start running stories about impeachment. something nancy pelosi admitted she'd been working on for two and a half to three years. what is your reaction to today's news that they might not even send it over to the senate? >> they will send it over to the senate. they are trying to get live witnesses but they will try to extend this horror show as long as they can. i think it's a corrupt process. i hate what's happening to the president. but i think you guys are really way overreacting to the squad. they are to me refreshing. you have this new diversity. first palestinian woman ever, first black woman to represent massachusetts, the youngest member of congress, the puerto rican aoc from the bronx, new york, ilhan omar, the first refugee from africa. my goodness! they aren't going to be straight people that look more like the majority.
6:51 pm
