an admission like that? >> juan: let me just say i'm not going to fall for your flattery. my butt is my business but i don't have a real but here because i don't think soleimani was a bad guy. nevertheless -- i didn't say but. but i do think that it's irrational, as you were saying, to ask about ramifications, consequences and the like. are we safer as a nation -- no, even you said just a moment ago that they are asking questions about what is to come. >> lawrence: do believe he was assassinated? >> juan: no, because i believe that is extralegal. that is what it's about. if you use that term and you're talking about taking an extra legal staff, my question is, if you're saying he was a terrorist and he is an enemy of ours, an enemy of the american people, if we start killing all the bad guys, we've got a lot of people to gail. are you going to go after vladimir putin? you want to go after some of these folks in latin america?

"the new york times" writing their obituary. it's like, this guy wasn't a terrorist and killing over 600 of our troops? >> juan: everything you just said is news. when you have a supreme leader reacting that way, that is informing us about the reaction on the ground.

how about the big protests? >> lawrence: should we be apologizing to them? >> juan: here's the point i'm trying to make. is the u.s. safer? is israel safer? without the iran deal, are we safer? are we in a better position to fight isis? wait a second, tell me what the immediate threat was, because this guy has been going around plotting terrorist -- >> greg: that's true, he has. in the past, they killed people. >> juan: what was the immediate threat there? >> enough public information, reuters has an amazing piece out about how soleimani within iraq in september and october sitting across the u.s. embassy in baghdad and talking about the way that they were going to use new iranian militias that have not yet been detected by the united states to go after american troops both in iraq and all over the region. there's plenty of public information on that. the problem is not asking questions about what might happen next. the issue is that you are insinuating that the president

and his entire administration isn't thinking about that, and they didn't think through that if we take this guy out, and a guy who was also in the car, another terrorist who was a really bad actor, smuggled in most of the ieds that blew up our troops, he was in the car as well. the intelligence on where they were at the right time was good. now we are questioning what's going to happen next? of course. but the idea that we don't know or have a plan leading up to this is ridiculous. also, they keep saying, well, the president is incompetent, he doesn't know what the iranians are going to do, blah, blah, blah. they've been on this guy and they understand that the obama administration appeased the regime over and over again. soleimani had sanctions and taken off of him as a result of the iran deal, as a result of barack obama's negotiation on that deal, yet here we are today questioning whether trump was the one appeasing the iranians? >> lawrence: you were one of the democrats saying president trump always questions our intelligence agencies.

♪ >> juan: it's turning into a 2020 brawl. bernie sanders and joe biden locked on a growing feud over who can defeat president trump. now sanders has taken a page right out of trump's playbook. he is attacking biden. >> joe biden has been on the floor of the senate, talking about the need to cut social security or medicare or medicaid. joe biden pushed a bankruptcy bill, which has caused numerous financial problems for working families. to get turnout you need energy and excitement and i just don't think that kind of record is going to bring forth the energy we need to defeat trump. >> juan: about less than 30 days to go before i awoke, and you can start to see now, among the democrats, they haven't been running the attacks, now the attacks start here the question

is with biden and bernie sanders of the top of the pack, are bernie's attacks powerful enough to bring down biden? >> sandra: does he have the branding power that donald trump had? a back to 2016, who did he brand low-energy? donald trump, jeb bush. a low-energy person, a low-energy kind of guy. bring back the clap moment, remember all of that? donald trump had that power to brand the candidates. we will see if he has the ability to do that. they are going to need energy, though. when it comes to senators that are running for president, and impeachment trial coming, and if it looks like the bill clinton trial, we are talking every day, six days a week, all afternoon. i mean, how is bernie sanders going to manage that? he can easily be open to this. >> juan: lawrence, let me take you through bernie's attacks. the number one attack was about foreign policy. he said that in fact biden had voted wrong on the gulf war.

he opposed it. then he voted for the iraq war. most democrats think that was a mistake, no weapons of mass destruction and the like. therefore, all these claims that he knows so much about foreign policy -- >> lawrence: yeah, he's a flip-flop. he's low-energy. this is a guy who has been in politics into his 20s. he's been in the senate since he's 30s. he is there he has a long track recordand he believes, that is the problem. the people that say they want to vote for him are just saying he is just the best guy. >> sandra: you're talking about biden? >> lawrence: yes, they say he is the best candidate to be trump. that is it. they have no policy he supported, they just think he is the most electable. and then you've got bernie sanders, who the democrats should have gotten rid of a long time ago because he is a socialist, and he has hijacked their party. he came back with supporters. he got aoc and the squad with him now and now that is the energy. so biden is going to be the nominee without a doubt.

but he's going to do a lot of damage because those energy people are not going to support him. >> juan: that is part of bernie's argument and the other part of it is if you look at something like nasa, he will say, wait a minute, joe biden voted for nafta. how was i going to play in michigan, wisconsin? >> sandra: but people like elizabeth warren saying she is going to vote for the u.s. and ca. but bernie sanders, they try to get rid of him in 2016 and they failed and he came back even stronger. when you look at the grassroots effort, the fund raising efforts that are almost double what joe biden is bringing in, that translates to people on the ground going to vote and that is why you see president obama with this rip and, the populist, nonestablishment, grassroots versus the establishment, which is joe biden, him saying, look, i'm not endorsing everybody but i want everybody know that there was a nominee we have to get

behind them, because you are absolutely right, the bernie sanders and elizabeth warren's actions are so far left there where they will not come out and vote for someone like joe biden and defeat donald trump your couple that with the problem of electability and it doesn't always work based on hillary clinton. >> juan: here is the thing, a lot of people, and what you often deride as the mainstrea mainstream -- >> greg: they make me sick. they are disgusting! >> juan: he's been sick. piling onto your joke, they also often discount bernie. we just heard lawrence. >> greg: i agree. >> juan: but bernie has the donors and he has the poll numbers. >> greg: you know what, you hit the right point. it's the media that believes they decide that is the way they decided hillary, right? cnn decided that bernie sanders wasn't going to be the candidate, so they screwed him. i think what they are trying to do now is they can't admit this could happen.

he is a strong, outspoken liberal. he doesn't like trump. the thing is, this isn't about right or left. this is about freedom of expression and what should be uniting conservatives and liberals of whatever stripe is the rift that is going on among liberals between free expression and those who want to silence people on campus and that is where breakage of base is coming from. if you read his twitter feed, he's expressing his own personal outrage over cancel culture and how people are constantly being attacked for things they are saying and it's very healthy that it comes from him, from somebody on the left. no liberal is going to listen to be because you're just going to say, fox news, that guy, he trashes everybody. and they are right. but when he comes out and he is upset, wreckage of base is upset because he is so confident in his liberal ideas that the refusal to listen to other ideaa is happening right now in

"communities like oklahoma city, birmingham, and georgia have passed restrictions on dollar stores, prompting numerous other communities to consider similar curbs. new laws and zoning regulations limit how many stores can open and some require those already in place to sell fresh fruit."

greg? >> greg: you know what this reminds me of? we are closer in age than any of these people, juan. strip clubs. stores that sell inexpensive food to low income families are now seen as a pollutant to society, like we are not having that a strip club but if you do you have to have the parking out back so we don't see everybody's car is because then we recognize everybody. ever notice that? strip clubs, the car parking lot is in the back so you can't see your husband -- i don't know why it started thinking about that but the problem here is over abundance. we have solved hunger and i know people say that people go to bed hungry but look at the statistics, people are eating. if you look at the street, you can tell. people are eating. if you walk down a cereal aisle, there is a different brand for every star in the sky pair that is the issue here, but making it harder for low income people to get their food, which is probably high in carbs, is not making the lives any easier. it smacks of elitism to think

that because you don't shop at the dollar store, they shouldn't shop at the dollar store because you can afford the kale at whole foods. they can't have macaroni and cheese at the dollar store appear to sorry, when you have kids and you're on a fixed income, the dollar store is the place you're going to go. he got to leave them alone and may be education at some point? before i've been shopping at the dollar store forever, so shouldn't they be encouraging the government, more competition and to have more grocery stores coming in next to the grocery store, rather than banning and rezoning, which only increases prices on everything? >> juan: they could do that or speak with their talking point, which is democrats want everything to be affordable, and the dollar treep on the dollar tree. it wasn't where we got food for them but we got everything else from the dollar tree. i think the democrats are actually stepping on their messes with this because a lot of people need that stuff and they can't afford to go to the other places to get it.

think they know better about what americans should be eating. >> juan: i'm taking this argument in but i do think ethanol, i don't know why i pump that into my car except for the government is subsidizing farmers. it's a similar thing with emphasis you're talking about with the food pyramid. but here is my feeling about this, is that there really are food deserts. yes, i've shopped at the food version of the dollar store is dollar general, and when you go in there, you know what, the cuts of meat, they are all fatty. you can't find fish, fresh vegetables. >> greg: i love that. >> juan: because it has an economic impact, to pick up on greg's point. if you had drug dealers in the neighborhood, it makes it more difficult for people to have retail stores. if you have a dollar store there, people are going to say, nobody's going to go to the -- >> lawrence: but it costs

more of the potato chips, high sugar, high salt -- >> sandra: and you know better how they should eat? >> juan: no, but no giant cokes or anything like that, i don't think that is the right approach. >> sandra: they're making these decisions because the dollar stores are undercutting other retailers. >> juan: that is what i'm saying to you, it undercuts the possibility of a better quality store because people didn't go there because the dollar store -- by the way, the second thing is if you have those stores there and people are buying those products come of tt product goes bad. it's perishable, which means that -- >> greg: it's like cinnamon, nobody eats it so it ends up at the dollar store. >> sandra: what i will say about the economics of these stores, there's a lot of research on them. do your research because sometimes the dollar store, even though it is $1, it's a smaller quality and it may be cheaper at another store. i'm not saying it's the best
