jenkins live in washington with reaction from lawmakers but we start with rick leventhal live in the middle east with the latest on these attacks. >> good morning. this is attack was not a surprise to those who have already taken defensive actions and there are no reported us casualties but iran's supreme leader saying he slapped america in the face and the ball is in donald trump's court. ballistic missiles filed by iran at two bases, one hit a base, four missiles failed in flight and the other ten struck al-assad, facility north of baghdad. video out of iran shows people in the streets waving flags and celebrating the attacks and we have seen images of shrapnel from failed missiles that landed in a field 30 miles outside of

erbil. the iranian foreign minister said iran took and concluded proportionate measures in self-defense on article 51 of the un charter targeting basis from which cowardly armed attack against our senior citizen or senior officials relaunched. we do not seek escalation for war but will defend ourselves against any aggression. iran says if the us retaliates they will strike more targets possibly here in israel where benjamin netanyahu just spoke saying, quote, he who shall strike at us will face a deadly blow. iran dealing with a issues including a deadly plane crash that killed 200 people in tehran and multiple earthquakes, one of them near a nuclear facility. brian: rick leventhal live with the latest. the ayatollah says iran tell the united states a slap in the face.

united states says there were no american casualties involved here, how do you explain how they fired 15 missiles and nobody was killed? are they really bad shots? did we hunkered down? what are people saying at the pentagon? >> iran has the ability to law short and medium-range missiles that can travel hundreds of miles from inside iran and hit a target in iraq. they did not hit downtown baghdad. clearly they were in the vicinity. as you point out no american troops were hurt. it is not clear that is because they were in a safe area or -- a sprawling airbase in western iraq, it is not clear missiles hit sand or facilities but we know no american troops were hurt and struck buildings hit by iranian missiles. rob: the damage assessment was away from the pentagon. >> later this morning we expect

to hear from officials. the assessment is still ongoing. it is daylight now, eight hours ahead inside iraq. so far have not seen any official damage assessment. expect that later this morning. the pentagon is waiting for the president to speak before putting out any information. >> they have to thousand ballistic missiles and are allowed to have them under the nuclear agreement. we have 22 perhaps. they have thousands. >> with this intentionally, did they intentionally miss americans to send a message, propaganda message to their people? our men and women have been hiding, lindsey graham was on the show last night talking about how this is an act of war. a list here on back down they are out of the oil business and the fight against iran and radical islam. >> the president is very the follicle in his thinking, the best national security teams i have seen but never lose sight.

the national defense authorization act, 377-48, two important things to note in that act, democrats were moved. one was to say congress must approve any funding for a war with iran. the other was authorization of force to kill terrorists in events with 9/11. removing them for lack of a better word gave the president the authority to do what he did. this falls back on congress. they gave him the authority by removing those two. >> there is going to be an election in november of 2020. everything in the town is political. >> absolutely but the bottom line is the american people have seen what brian said a few minutes ago. we had our ships attacked, our
