the protesters demanding resignation of ayatollah and other senior leaders. shocking defiance against the hard-line theocracy. the trump administration saying that the president is in the iranian people's corner. >> unlike past administrations where there hasn't been demonstration of support of iranian people, president trump made it clear with his administration he stands with the people of iran, not the regime. we'll continue to do so. eric: fox team coverage with kevin corke with reaction from the white house. first rick leventhal is in jerusalem for us live, rick? reporter: eric, iran has been denying involvement in the plane crash for days, accusing u.s. pouring salt into the victims. yesterday they admitted it. started as candlelight vigils for 16 iranian students on board the doomed 737. by morning turned against the

hard-line government. chants of death to the dictators, death to the liars, demanding that the ayatollah step down and those responsible be fired and put on trials. secure forces fired tear goose and beat some in the crowd with numerous injuries reported. we're seeing of vast majority of protesters avoiding stepping on american and israeli flags on the street. walking on the colors has been promoted by iranian regime since 1979. this time the crowd chapped the u.s. is not our enemy, directing anger towards the ayatollah instead. president trump tweeting support for the demonstrators writing, there cannot be another massacre of peaceful protesters nor an internet shutdown. the world is watching. iran was on high alert for incoming retaliation when it shot down the 737 wednesday, just hours after firing more than a dozen ballistics missiles at bases housing u.s. troops in iraq. it was payback for america's targeted killing of iran's top general near baghdad airport.

and english and vowing to keep standing in solidarity with the people of iran. let's go to kevin corke. he is live at the white house with more on this part of the story. kevin. reporter: arthel, you cannot overstate how powerful the symbolism is here in the circumstances. you pointed out the president tweeting his support for the iranian people not just in english but also in farsi. i want to show you first of all the farsi tweet. already has over several hundred thousand likes and as you can well imagine there was also corresponding tweet in english. reads thusly, to the brave and suffering iranian people i stood with you since the beginning of my presidency and my government will continue to stand with you. we are following your protests closely. your courage is inspiring. the president also warning the regime in tehran not to attack or kill their own people who are obviously protesting of he said the world is watching. indeed the world is watching many in the country as many in the country call for change in

government's reaction to what some of the people in iran are doing? >> these are potentially interesting developments. as you say, iranian protesters taking to the street after the downing of the airliner. i think it is too early to say what it means but i think everyone is watching iran very closely a the moment. i hope it will be another spur to the iranian government to de-escalate tensions, to stop pursuing nuclear weapons and, as it were to come in from the cold. our foreign secretary, dominic raab made this call to them. there is a window for diplomacy now. which hope iran will take it but only iran can take that decision. we can't take it for her. eric: what do you leaders do? do you call for meetings, call for discussions about this specifically, what does your government want? >> there are many ways totic sal one is ready for talks. president trump, mr. pompeo, my

own government, boris johnson, dominic raab as well as the french, we all made overtures to the iranian government suggesting they take advantage of a diplomatic window that has now appeared, that they come in from the cold. i would think that sort of thing is normally done quietly in the first instance with senior officials meeting, privately, perhaps to prepare a way forward so that leaders can meet. there are many ways of doing it. i think the important thing is that the iranian government takes a step. >> what is the iranian government doing? are those overtures reciprocated? >> they have sent a variety of messages but the messages tend to be very in the moment, very transactional. they have not as far as i know accepted u.s., french, or british offers. we really would urge them to do so. we think what their own people think of the current situation. now is a very good time to de-escalate tensions.

statement, of course, we mus'nt take our eye off the nuclear we. we really don't want iran to acquire a nuclear weapon. eric: of course the past few months they had protests and the iranian regime killed 1500 of the protesters. didn't allow the families to mourn the young people that were killed. the president tweeted out asking iranian government not to kill the protesters. does your government agree? >> we absolutely agree with that. people have a fundamental human right to freedom of assembly, freedom of expression. that includes the right to peaceful protest. sometimes those results have a variety of motivations but i think the important thing is that the iranian government needs to listen to its people. it needs to de-escalate the current situation. that is in their hands. we made our offer. eric: one of your colleagues, the british ambassador to iran, robert kerry, he goes to the vigil, goes to the vigil for 15 minutes, he leaves and they arrest him. >> as we said, as dominic raab

said that is a flagrant violation of international law. there is the a convention, vienna convention on diplomatic relations. it governs what happens to diplomats abroad in countries so they can go about their duties in safety and security. representing their government. that is what ambassador mcnair was doing. he went to pay his respects at the vigil. it was in honor of the iranian students who lost their lives on the airliner. quite natural he should go especially since british people were killed as well. he then left that gathering, when it started to turn into more of a protest. he went innocently off to have his her cut. then the iranians arrested him, but he is okay. >> he is now okay, eventually and released and we talked to the iranians about this breach of international law. eric: qassem soleimani was so-called terrorist mastermind of the horrendous catastrophe

that is there. you dealt with it in the security council and it still hasn't ended russians blocked humanitarian aid. >> what happened on friday the russians held security council to ransom and people of northeast syria to ran some they refused to allow u.n. to send aid through what are called cross-border crossings, go into syria from turkey, syria, and other countries without the syrian government permission and the reason that is needed because the syrian government will not allow assistance to reach all the communities most in need. it wasn't just general soleimani who was instrumental in syria. i do want again to call out the russians but also the syrian government themselves. governments are supposed to look after their people and yet the syrian government won't issue permits for aid. they won't help get the aid to people most in need. eric: finally do you feel with the dynamics perhaps changing that the syria issue and the turmoil will be reduced? >> oh, that is, that is an

interesting question. i mean, we had some footage earlier of the sad death of sultan kabutz. he had been a strong moderating force in the gulf. he has wide advice for leaders. he tried to keep a productive working relationship with all sides. i think it is good news his success are sore pledged to continue his foreign policy we in britain had a relationship with the oman for 200 years. we'll be in close touch with them, helping them keep regional stability going. eric: i know both sides, both governments will look and watching out, to make sure protests are protected. >> absolutely. eric: and the regime does not resort what they have done in the past. ambassador karen pierce of the united kingdom. thanks for coming in the studio. >> thank you, eric. always a pleasure. eric: of course. arthel? arthel: turning now to weather as severe storms and powerful tornadoes pounding many parts of

the u.s. this weekend. at least 11 people confirmed dead in several states. hundreds of thousands across the south are without power. jacqui heinrich is following all of this from our new york city newsroom. she joins us with the latest. jacqui? reporter: arthel, among the 11 dead are two first-responders. high winds, tornadoes and torrential rain are responsible. destruction span as huge swath of the south. in louisiana, a tornado with 135 mile-an-hour winds lift ad trail other off its foundation, slung it several hundred feet and killing two people. part of a mid school and first-responders searching for victims in mud and debris. in oklahoma a man drowned by floodwaters trying to get out of his stalled truck. thousands of people are without power in texas ohio and state of emergency in arkansas. another tornado in alabama killed three people.

emergency management officials said it was embedded in a long line of intense thunderstorms. homes were flattened. debris strewn across the neighborhood. sleet and frozen rain made for dangerous driving conditions in missouri, texas, and kansas. a crash claimed lives of first-responders working on another crash scene in lubbock. two police officers were killed. nicholas reina died at the scene, only been with the department for a year. david hill, age 39, taken to the hospital. also passed away. matthew dawson firefighter 30 years old still in critical condition. they called it extremely tragic day for the city. extreme storms impacting parts of country throughout the day. arthel: tragic indeed. jacqui heinrich, thank you. eric: more than a dozen saudi servicemembers undergoing training at u.s. facility are reportedly facing expulsion from our country.

that after an investigation into last month's deadly shooting at the naval air station in pensacola in florida. that carried out by a saudi can cadet. they are not accused of aiding the shooter in that stint but there are other disturbing allegations. christina coleman in our los angeles bureau with that. reporter: eric some saudi servicemembers set to be expelled are said to have ties to extremist groups and others possess child pornography. they are not believed to aid the saudi service member accused in the december 6 shooting. this according to an fbi investigation that record he hadly found extremist rhetoric and online communications among some of the students. according to "the washington post" the review found several students set to be expelled may have failed to report the gunman's alarming behavior leading up to the shooting. the pentagon tells fox news the decision to restrict 800 saudi military student to classroom chaining is still in effect

while u.s. officials review security measures. national security advisor robert o'brien said on "fox news sunday" this morning the decision to expel saudi student is all about safety. >> i think we're being very careful. obviously pensacola showed there had been errors the way we vetted. i think out of an abundance of caution, secretary esper has taken the actions to protect our servicemen and women. reporter: three american sailors were killed. eight other people were injured when 21-year-old saudi air force second lieutenant saudi rouhani fired on the station october 6th. the fbi was investigating the case as possible terrorism after authorities found anti-american writings by the gunman who was killed by responding sheriff's deputies during the december 6 attack on the naval base. the justice department is expected to conclude its investigation and release a full port of its findings in the coming days. eric. eric: christina. thank you very. arthel: protesters flood the streets of tehran after iran's

killing all 176 people on board. ukraine's leader thanks the united states, great britain and canada sharing investigation after the iranians lied. greg palkot live with the latest from there. hi, greg. reporter: eric, the mood is somber but at least gratification at least the truth about the ukraine airline shoot-down is coming out. ukraine still has a team of 45 investigators on the ground in iran. they got their first-hand findings of a signs after iranian missile taking out the plane helped push the regime to admit responsibility. ukraine airlines says it did nothing wrong to trigger the attack. and it is now blasting tehran for not shutting down tehran airport amid all the hostilities. president zelensky is pushing for a full joint international investigation of what he calls the murder by iran of ukrainian and other citizens as well as

♪. eric: house speaker nancy pelosi warning senators that they will quote, pay the price, she says if they block witnesses from testifying in president trump's upcoming impeachment trial. miss pelosi announced friday that the house would vote this coming week on sending impeachment articles to the senate. mark meredith live in the washington bureau with the latest on what we expect. hi, mark. reporter: good afternoon. house speaker nancy pelosi says later this week the house plans to formally vote to send impeachment articles over to the senate because as you know the house voted to impeach the president back on december 18th. since then democrats tried to pressure gop leaders to force witnesses tied to the white house to testify in a senate trial. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell says he has the vote

to start the trial now and look at witnesses later. pelosi says the vote may push mcconnell's hand. >> 70% of the american people think they should have the witnesses testify. so, again, it is, it is about a fair trial. they take an to have a fair trial. now the ball is in their court, to either do that or pay a price. reporter: mcconnell says he is not ruling out allowing witnesses to testify but that any final decision will come after the senate trial starts and remains unclear exactly when that would be or who the impeachment managers or prosecutors will be in the senate trial. senate republicans vowing there will be a fair trial and they expect it to begin soon. gop lawmakers continue to accuse pelosi playing politics with the constitution. >> next week, we will do it differently than she did it in the house. we will be fair. we have not made a decision about witnesses.

we will address that. >> the bottom line we'll do this, follow the senate rules. we'll not follow nancy pelosi's rules. we'll listen to both sides. then we will make a decision. reporter: a senate trial is expected to impact the 2020 presidential race. the iowa caucus are after all 20 days away, and a trial could keep several candidates like front-runners elizabeth warren and bernie sanders away from the campaign trail. eric: we'll have a report on that in moments. arthel: the house expected to send over the impeachment articles to the senate this week. as the chamber also considers one of the president's pet projects, the new usmca trade deal. now here is treasury secretary steve mnuchin earlier with maria on "sunday morning futures." >> we expect it to pass quickly. we hope that this little sideshow that is going to show up at the senate doesn't delay it. but, we will look forward to the senate acting quickly. let me say. the president's economic program is really coming together. arthel: let's bring in andrew --

a congressional reporter for "politico." andrew, nice to see you. >> good afternoon. arthel: here we have the articles of impeachment going to the senate this week. at the same time the usmca agreement also headed for the senate, presenting a scheduling collision. which agenda will be prioritized, which order could take a political toll on president trump and which order could provide him with political currency? >> right. so the senate really doesn't have a choice in terms of when it can start impeachment trial. speaker pelosi, once they approve the managers on the house side that could be tuesday, wednesday. it could be thursday. it could even be friday. the next day unsenate rules they have to begin the impeachment trial. five senate commit too consider the usmca agreement. it is expected to say through all five committees. it passed through the senate finance committee last week by a vote of 25-3. so it really all depends when

speaker pelosi wants to put the resolution on the house floor to send impeachment maxers to the senate. the very next day the trial must begin under senate rules. arthel: if the senate finalizes the usmca proposal, gets it to the president's desk for his signature, while the impeachment trial is in progress, is the u.s. canada mexico trade deal a big enough win and messaging tool for president trump to distract or overshadow the impeachment trial? >> i think no matter when usmca is passed the president will roll it out as a major accomplishment. obviously so many democrats are also supporting the usmca agreement. of course it passed through the house with overwhelming bipartisan support. i mentioned the 25-3 vote last week in the senate finance committee. it is expected to sail through the rest of the five senate committees it sneads to go through, including the full senate chamber itself and the president is expected to use that more than the gop tax bill from a couple years ago which

passed with only republican votes. this one will end up having broad democratic support. this is different type of accomplishment for the president to tout here on the campaign trail. arthel: there is probably no chance that senator leader mcconnell will delay trade deliberations until after president trump's impeachment trial. >> that depend when nancy pelosi wants to put the resolution on the house floor to approve the managers, essentially the prosecutors in the case because under senate rules, the very next day by 1:00 p.m. the senate trial has to begin. so if she wanted to do that on monday night when the house is back in session. she could do that. could do that on tuesday afternoon. that would throw a wrench in the senate plans to get usmca passed through the full senate and on to the president's desk. at this rate, speaker wants to do it earlier in the week, usmca could be delayed by up to a month, depending how long the senate trial goes. arthel: now the most important crunch time element is the state of the union address,

february 4th. here is what steve ban i don't know told maria bartiromo this morning. >> tell nancy pelosi, when you deliver it, we have a trial, after i'm acquitted, i will have the state of the union. not until then. president trump has a great saying, no games, okay? this is all game playing by the democrats. arthel: you hear steve bannon telling the president, you know what, just postpone it? what are the chances that the president trump postponing the state of the union address until after his impeachment trial is over? >> the president could refuse to show up on february 4th. it is up to the speaker of the house to invite the president, to set a date for that. you recall last year the state of the union was delayed while the government was still shut down. there are a number of complicated, complicating factors, that is, that could throw a wrench in this process but it would certainly be awkward if the senate is in middle of a impeachment trial. one random night in february they end upcoming together for a state of the union. it would certainly be a power play by the president it refuse

to show up while the senate is engaged in the impeachment trial. arthel: what i'm also hearing you say, andrew, perhaps it would not be a wise decision on the part of the speaker to invite the president to appear on february 4th, if the impeachment trial is still in progress? >> right. so she invited him, a number of weeks ago to appear before the state of the union on february 4th. perhaps presuming that the senate trial meeting over by then. it is up to the president to determine whether he wants to show up. whether he wants to use it to his advantage an say look, i will not come and speak to a joint session of congress while the senate is considering whether to remove me from office essentially. arthel: you know the royals think they have their intrigue. got nothing on us. >> we certainly have ours here in washington. arthel: andrew, thank you very much. >> thanks. eric: oh, man. they are out there campaigning today. senator elizabeth warren is holding an event right now in iowa.

parcel service. then he posted pictures on his facebook page. well, it has become a viral sensation on social media. sean joins us right now, founder of ups dogs. sean, this is absolutely wonderful. these faces are great. how did you think to do this, when did it start? >> well, it all started about 2013. i was delivering multiple routes and, i guess i had about 60 pictures on my phone, posted it on my facebook wall. everybody started to like them. so i started to make a facebook page. and, i guess it was 2017, october, it just went viral. eric: how many followers do you have now? >> about almost 1.8 million followers. it went from 20,000 to like a million in three months. eric: wow. do you carry your phone around? are they always, a lot of the same dogs? do you know them.
