1:04 am
from the chief primary, great rally but we kick it off with griff jenkins live in the morning with more. what do you think of that guns and roses? >> i never heard of des moines described as jumbo but it was a tough night on the debate stage, the smallest one yet. the last debate before i would democratic voters go to the polls and it was the rift between bernie sanders and elizabeth for an that started a few days ago over whether woman could be elected and played out in full force last night. >> as a matter of fact i didn't say it. >> what did you say when senator sanders told your woman could not when the election? >> i disagreed. bernie is my friend and i'm not here to try to fight with bernie but look. the question about whether or not a woman can be president has been raised.

doubling down that the iranian general was planning imminent attacks on us interests. >> the democrats are doing everything possible to disparage what we did with the hit on this monster. bernie and the radical left cannot protect your family and they cannot protect our country nor do they want to. >> no rally would be complete without an attack on impeachment, with a trial in the senate looming the president reiterating his refrain that impeachment is meant to distract the public from the administration's accomplishments. >> our opponents say we are not going to win, let's impeach donald trump, the greatest economy in our history. our military has been totally rebuilt, let's impeach him. but we have created 7 million jobs. >> hours before the rally nancy

pelosi announced a vote on sending the articles of impeachment of the senate. the president firing back at pelosi should focus on fixing the filthy dirty district she represents. shannon: so much going on, just the beginning. thank you so much. joining me with the winners and losers, chris sanders 2016 campaign and chairman of the committee to defend the president ted harvey. thank you for joining us, a long night for sure. let me begin with your winners and losers. first of all your winners. we will start with you. your winner and why. let desmond go first and i will get to you. >> no worries. warren was always the most consistent debater but i say bernie won because he walked in leading in iowa and walked out leading in iowa, no one challenged him on anything, it
1:10 am
was a great opportunity for people to try to taken down like they did senator warren but they didn't. don't know if they are afraid of bernie or of his supporters or little bit of both. to me he won the debate because no one moved the needle. he is leading and that will play to him. heather: you agree? >> yes, he boldly and unapologetically espouses leftist socialist agenda and came across as the one that everybody believes in. everybody else was pandering to the left-wing primary voters and it doesn't come across with any integrity whatsoever and that is why bernie is leading in the polls and will continue to do so. >> a lot of folks saying biden didn't have best night. more surprising candidates didn't go up against them but focused on bernie sanders. look at this monmouth poll out
1:11 am
of iowa, where biden was in the lead 27%, 20.3% followed by sanders and buttigieg, warren, klobuchar and stier. out of everyone on stage last night who did you think was the loser? >> senator klobuchar was because she gave a strong performance in the last debate and was trying to do much, she was part standup comedy, part jazz, trying to get in 90 seconds and it was too much. she forgot her notes, constantly looking at her notes, it wasn't her strongest and she sets the bar high for herself and she was under pressure to increase numbers. she did a good job but not as strong as last time. >> i agree she didn't do well but the person who did the worst was biden himself. i don't mean it disrespectfully.
1:12 am
he looks like an old white guy who can't put two sentences together and that is the case and that's why he's not leading in the polls and most of these states it will be doing worse after this debate. >> some sound going on at donald trump's rally versus sound from the debates, and the juxtaposition on how the country is being represented right now. listen. >> the greatest economy in our history. we created 7 million jobs since the election including 1 million manufacturing and construction jobs. nobody thought that was possible. >> with regard to the economy a can't wait to debate that with him. >> i'm ready to take on this president on the economy. heather: talking about two different countries there on the same night.
1:13 am
let's bring up those numbers, 145,000 jobs at a, 3.5% unemployment rate. >> silver could good talking point to take him on but we haven't heard how. democrats are going to have to talk about how they can increase the economy. you talk about liberal wages, and social issues, climate change was a big issue. the reasons, it is hard to talk about how to fix an already good economy. that is something democrats have to sharpen up. heather: we added 7 million new jobs, unemployment rate, the median household income has risen to 66,$000 last year.
1:14 am
>> no modern president has lost in a booming economy. if this economy continues to go the way it has been, there is no way any of these leftist socialist democrats with their radical policies are going to beat this president. who would throw out this president for those policies? i don't see it happening. the president is in good position moving forward. heather: we have much more to talk about. thank you, we appreciate it. fox news alert, the house just hours from sending articles of impeachment to the senate and revealing who will lead their legal team, brand-new documents you don't want to miss. our trashy back ribs? oh, that sounds great... everything is locally harvested, farm to dumpster to table. uhhh, what do you... what else do you got? heather: slamming the america first approach to iran as they push to salvage what is left of the iran nuclear deal but could any other strategies actually work? doctor rebecca grant, thank you for joining us, appreciate it. let's begin with the nuclear deal shortcomings, we can bring this up for everyone at home. there were restrictions that expire over 10 to 15 years. now nuclear facilities closed or destroyed, no restrictions on iran's ballistic missile test and failed to curb iran's support for terror proxy. did you hear anything last night that you think would work? >> that deal didn't work. looking for the commander-in-chief and didn't see one because they weren't up to speed on the latest diplomacy. our allies, britain, france and germany activated a you in dispute mechanism, we have great
1:25 am
alliances and working with a coalition and bernie didn't seem to get that. biden didn't seem to get that and amy klobuchar, trump already said he wants to negotiate, that is up to iran. i didn't see it. heather: north korea touched on by joe biden, anything you heard about north korea or china speaking of foreign-policy? >> on north korea biden says i won't cooperate but the situation has changed so much, 72 missile and nuclear tests in the obama biden years and they have stopped. we want to see diplomacy move forward but with china i didn't hear much about china except on trade and these candidates don't seem to get that russia and china are the top military threats.
1:26 am
that is what they deal with, didn't even get there. julie: there were two things going on at once, donald trump's rally along with the debate stage and here is what joe biden had to say accusing donald trump about line of the imminent threat that was posed by general soleimani and listen to what donald trump had to say during his rally at the same time. >> he lied about saying the reason he went out and made the strike is embassies were about to be bombed. the democrats are doing everything possible to disparage what he did with a hit from this monster. bernie and the radical left cannot protect your family and cannot protect our family nor do they want to. >> foreign policy, we talked
1:27 am
about differences, in terms of foreign policy what was your take on that and how democrats were responding? >> soleimani made himself a legitimate military target and i'm disappointed none of those democrats could see that that has helped the situation. let me fill in biden when he was selling the iran deal to congress said they would retain the option to use military force. i think he forgot that and i don't see him or other candidates giving us a good way ahead in iran that includes diplomacy, sanctions, military pressure, they just didn't get it. julie: we always appreciate it. bernie sanders called out by his fellow democrats for hiding the cost of his healthcare plan. >> i will tell you medicare for

the united states military launched a flawless precision strike that killed the world's number one terrorist. because of this [bleep] >> taking us pell-mell toward another war. >> he is going from crisis to crisis, escalation to escalation. >> take away your private health insurance. >> take on the greed and profiteering. to defeat donald trump and to do it by such a margin that we sent trumpism into the dustbin of healthy. >> ladies and gentlemen of wisconsin, the best is yet to come. shannon: six white house

hopefuls, in the battleground state of wisconsin. a strong economy and stronger nations and the left makes a final push to win over voters before the primaries. from foreign-policy to healthcare. who stood out and who will be the next to drop out. team coverage, trump 2020 campaign pollster is here to break down candidates campaign funds. the top trending moment of the night. there were a lot and gop strategists here to discuss do willing messages. and that is where we begin. i will start with you. what about those do willing messages. it was something if you were switching between the two.
1:34 am
>> i was switching back between the two and the rolling stones and a lot of the m aga. you have the quiet cnn debate, they had to follow the rules, the rolling stones for the democrats. the energy, it was softer and had to be more precise and logical but trump had the advantage of being more fired up in the rallies. >> it wasn't just the music, he had a lot of accomplishments he was able to talk about including the economy and how it impacted people in the state of wisconsin. >> the strong economy when donald trump gets reelected, talk about 7 million jobs created and 7000 manufacturing jobs.
1:35 am
that message of prosperity is going to push donald trump across the finish line, in 2012 the democrats are selling do and gloom, didn't work for republicans and donald trump will be reelected because of the economy and showing he delivers on his promises including trade and securing the border. >> speaking of numbers there were price tag problems going back to the debate, he was called out for hiding the cost of his healthcare plan. >> you consistently refused to say how much your medicare for all plan is going to cost. don't voters deserve to pc the price tag before you send them a bill? >> medicare for all will cost substantially less than the status quo. >> there is an estimate of $36 trillion over the first ten years so what was your take on
1:36 am
that back and forth? >> they did affect check and the numbers were accurate when it came into making $1 billion in a year. there is too much money but at the end of the day donald trump is a candidate made promises about a wall and funding and told us how it would get paid and it wasn't true and if anyone can get a single-payer system, i think you can get it with bernie sanders. he can do it. >> is not the only candidate not specifically willing to talk about the cost or how to pay for it. >> what he's talking about is the largest government expansion since the new deal particularly for the us, the biggest concern for democrats is voters figure
1:37 am
out medicare for all is not medicare for all but government controlled healthcare that would kick 170 billion people of their insurance, it would result in taxes and put seniors care in competition with illegal aliens and when they find it out they will be unhappy. >> we have a minute left. this dropped overnight, at the same time all this was happening. they dropped the trove on impeachment files on the eve of what is expected to be today's vote is mcconnell hurdles behind closed doors on the alleged witness list, one size calls witnesses in the other side calls them as well. a brief comment on that. >> as long as nancy pelosi and the democrats in the house hold articles of impeachment they control the messaging so it is our policy pelosi pelosi pelosi,
1:38 am
the minute they handed over, they control the conversation which is the biggest nightmare, mcconnell o'connell, we lost our ability to control messaging and impeachment. >> final word. >> this was a first designed to hurt donald trump ahead of the election because democrats have no idea how to beat him, and it is going to be a nothing burger and a month. >> we will see what happens. appreciate it. the time is 20 minutes until the top of the hour and after a war of words it is all about the money, the campaign crash that is critical for candidates fighting to take on donald trump in november. jim mclaughlin is live in studio on who can afford to stay and who can't.
1:42 am
julie: we are 20 days out from the biggest test of the 2020 election, the iowa caucuses and campaign money mattering more than ever. which candidates can afford to stay in the race and who is next to drop? to break it down is jim mclaughlin. thank you for joining us. so much going on. in terms of money, the fundraising number, the top democrats you see, sanderson the lead followed by buttigieg, and klobuchar. compared supporter three an increase and who dropped down, sanders in the lead, warren second but they dropped. what does that mean? >> other than bernie sanders
1:43 am
nine of these candidates, none of the democrat candidates has any momentum. the establishment democrats are telling you biden is in front but he was third or fourth in terms of fundraising and bernie sanders blue him away. we see money, organization and message and money is important especially for folks trying to pick a winner but more important it shows the enthusiasm of support, the enthusiasm in bernie sanders. heather: peter doocy was reporting, talking about the amount of money his campaign, bernie sanders as the debate began, the money they were able to raise.
1:44 am
>> enough money to go on the matter what happens in iowa, new hampshire, bernie sanders versus hillary clinton, the money to go through the convention, has to have the resources no matter what and similar to donald trump a lot of his fundraising is driven by the ones who are going to stick with you no matter what. joe biden did fancy fundraising, that is what he is doing and a lot of times you don't get a lot of net cash off of those because they are expensive fundraisers today. heather: know you have bloomberg jumping and not on the debate stage but doesn't matter because he is funding himself, $10 million for an ad during the super bowl. >> we have never seen spending like this and michael bloomberg is with $50 billion and donald
1:45 am
trump is $1 billion. the big difference was donald trump last time, that is his base. we saw it last night with the rally he had in wisconsin. michael bloomberg is running just with tv ads and i don't think he can run a presidential campaign like that. you've got to connect with grassroots the way bernie sanders is doing and donald trump did four years ago. >> they are trying on stage. awkward pause is following their attempt at some jokes. the question then coming up very quickly in the iowa caucuses, how that will narrow the playing field. >> i look at it right now and if you are not in the debates you are out of it for a guy like an, running a campaign, has following and at the democratic national committee they are cutting him off the debate
1:46 am
stage. that is wrong. >> bloomberg is not on stage and able to relate to voters that way. he is out of it. >> i don't think you can buy these primaries, the voters are smarter and they want to touch you and meet you and you see the trump rallies, he is still doing, they became famous when he was running for president last time. if michael bloomberg tried to do a rally nobody would show up. shannon: there was something that happened, was it last night, with judge judy. >> not a lot of people come. even biden, hardly anybody shows up to these events which shows you they don't have a lot of breakfast, no enthusiasm and no grassroots support. >> much more to come, 15 until the top of the hour and panic on
