hurt, 3 of them critically, police say that a gunman opened fire during a concert and they believe that he was killed by an armed security guard, of course, we will follow the stories and bring you any development that is we see come in. now to another alert this one in the state of hawaii where two police officers were shot and killed in a violent standoff. jillian: horrific tragedy ripping across several homes, aisha live in studio with how the scene played out and the suspect responsible. >> good morning, rob, jillian, families went to church sunday morning only to come back to absolute mayhem that tragically left two officers dead and here they are, tiffany enríquez and officer kaliki kalama of the honolulu police department, enríquez is a mother with 7 years on the force, kalala is a father with 9 year's experience,

popular tourist spot, police say 68-year-old jerry stabbed his landlord as she was trying to evict him, he then shot at officers possibly using a rifle and then he set his house on fire, the blaze spread to 12 other homes, several cars, residents had to be evacuated, two females inside his home are still unaccounted for and police do believe that the suspect himself may have died in that house fire. officers gathered at queen's medical center to show support, enríquez and kalama are the second and third american officers killed in the line of duty so far this year, the police chief there in honolulu getting very emotional breaking the news to everybody, listen. >> i'm deeply sadden today report the tragical of two finest, our deep east condolences to families of officer enríquez and kalama.

northam who has pushed for increased gun control measures and already the senate legislature has passed 3 measures just last month and they will limit one handgun month rule which is universal background check law and authority over guns in public places but the house legislature and many of the people coming to this rally want to petition the house legislators have even more things they want to do. we talked to one of the delegates, glen davis from virginia beach area, virginia beach back in may, 11 people killed in shooting there, the opposition to these measures is bipartisan. listen. >> what is definitely bipartisan, i've had democrats come to me and say, glen, i'm a democrat but this is extremely important to me, this is the ability to protect your family and your loved ones and that's not a republican or democrat issue. griff: now, there's also a house measure, house bill 567 which

would close private indoor shooting range, we went to the largest in virginia and talked to the owner and she's worried about this, listen. >> there's the one bill that is aiming to just put us out of business, we have 50 employees or more which we do, we are part of the solution and we are not the issue, we are not sure why they are targeting indoor gun ranges, we create responsible gun owners on a daily basis. >> as you can see it's quiet but they expect thousands of people coming out and no guns allowed beyond the fence area, we will find out if there's tension between gun owners who feel that they should be able to get in there but the -- the courts ruled, the judge ruled that you cannot bring weapons in there, we will find out what happens, hopefully peaceful but certainly cold, guys.

be impeachable. jillian: the president's legal team blasting house managers for impeachment filing as the senate prepares to hear opening statements tomorrow. rob: joining us to break it all down before the fireworks really erupt former investigator and house of representatives sam, thank you for coming on this morning, what do you expect we will find out today, it's a big day before this all start? >> so i think the most significant thing we are going to see today is that the white house is due to file its trial briefs so we will see a more detailed explanation of the president's case and we may also hear more about the details of the initial senate scheduling order who will present their opening arguments when. jillian: let's go ahead and take a look, a clip from the democrats impeachment brief and says, quote, unless president trump is removed from office he will continue to endanger our national security, jeopardize

the integrity of our elections and undermine our core constitutional principles, the president's lawyers responded to impeachment, they are constitutionally invalid on their face, the entire process is nothing more than than a dangerous attack on the american people themselves and their fundamental right to vote. what do you make of both arguments? >> well, i think the arguments democrat -- demonstrate what we are going to see two heavy weight who are in their corner and drawn out knockout fight, they are both taking aggressive positions and they will both press their positions an i think we will see the process by the senate as the days go on. rob: you know for people at home who aren't into the legal stuff of this, two sides here, they are both yelling opposing messages and both sides say they have previous court decisions that support their side of the

argument and everybody at home you're hearing both sides and both sides kind of sound good and both sides make sense, what are people supposed to think? >> i think that's a fair point, what i would say first people need to read the arguments, look at the specifics, look less at what is said and what isn't said or is said in the manner of concession and second i think that the senate will provide a fair process where this issue is there, both sides for the first time will present their argument and i think it will be particularly interesting here that the senators will have extended chance to question hear from lawyers on legal issues, the house could have done that, could have heard legal, the senate will. jillian: there should be witnesses? >> i don't have a personal opinion and i don't know yet, i think that's something that we will see as the trial develops

and that goes to the earlier point, what exactly transpires, what are the specific strengths and weaknesses of the presentation and the current structure have detailed legal questions for the first time, it's a good way to precisely define the issue, do we need witnesses. >> yeah, quick look at the president's legal team, it's a big legal team, we will look at screen, a lot of familiar names, what do you make of the team? >> well, i think it's an excellent team and it's all excellent choices and the most significant thing i see is that there are a lot of different members with different skills on the team, for example, you've got the white house council who is known for ability to see things on multiple dimensions, run a legal proceeding and then also particularly cipollone and

and the rest of the primaries you will see more of that and it's actually helpful for voters, voters started to understand who is advocating for them, who is ready for the fight in november against president trump. rob: it all started off as kumbaya, we have to beat donald trump, we are in this together, you can really see the fights picking up, what do you make of this? >> absolutely, an interesting fight, though, because all senator sanders did point the fact that joe biden has said in the past that he's willing to cut social security to balance the budget and anyone with google would have came up with the same information as senator sanders campaign, but biden, what he should have done really instead point out the fact that is senator sanders has been on capitol hill since 1991 and hasn't done a done, two do-nothing candidates fighting about doing absolutely nothing. warren and sanders on the same thing trying to get biden out of there, but all the fighting reassures us that the democrats

will have a low voter turnout in november because nobody is voting for socialism. rob: all right, let's look at iowa for a second,st -- it's such an important context, if you look at polls, you can see joe biden at 20.7%, look at how close bernie sanders is, mustafa, you see warren at 16, either sanders or warren drops out, what happens to their support, does it go to everybody or divide amongst everyone else? if you put warren and biden together they thump joe biden. >> at this point no one is dropping out, everyone is raising significant amount of money and likely to stay in the raise, it's part of the process, you want people to make a competitive fight against each other and give voters an opportunity to see distinction between campaigns and policies and it only makes for a stronger

party and a unified ticket against donald trump in november. by having a strong competitive primary that's how you win elections. >> kimberly, i want to ask the same question to you, if you put the support together do they take the nomination, if one of them drops out, could warren or bernie take this thing? >> i'm not sure, i don't know many democratic voters who are voting for socialism and that's what clearly -- rob: looks like a lot of people are, look at the numbers that the two have? >> i'm happy as trump supporter want to see sanders or warren all the way because no one can hold trump and polls are looking the way they are honestly. rob: is that the most dangerous who do you think has the best shot at beating donald trump, would you be worried if bernie sanders got the nomination? >> no, not at all, if you look at the candidates and polling

prophet martin luther king, jr., his words are timeless because they inspired by god, along with what he did talked about love and getting along together as brothers and i will say sisters and so that's what we need to be doing today as we remember his words, we can remember, he said, you know, i've decided to stick with love, hate is too difficult burden on the bear, so i remember the man that did that and said that and lived that way, he and my dad ad king were brothers and most of our family, even today, tries to negotiate, to work with others through the lens of love. jillian: do you have any stories that your family shares when you talk about him that maybe we don't know? >> there's a little cute story that i talk about every once in a while, he did a series of sermons and called a knock at midnight about own transformation in his heart but he and my daddy were driving down a road late at night,

driving down at two preachers, so the people on the road would have on their bright lights and they'd be flashing the bright lights and my daddy said, next time i'm going to put my lights in their eyes, they don't need to do that and martin luther king, jr., brother, i don't think we need to do it that way, even if they do it, we don't want to do it back to them. so they had many humorous moments, they told a lot of jokes and had a lot of fun but martin luther king, jr. from his teenage life on was consistent with the life of god, as a little boy they said he did pranks with his sister and brother, but as he grew older he depend thed on the love of god. rob: the president talks about how well african americans are doing, what do you feel of the

matter? >> i'm a spiritual adviser, i'm no longer a politician, i don't endorse, i pray, people come up to me and said, don't tell anybody, african americans, i didn't vote for him the other time but i'm voting for him this time, as a matter of fact i have more money in my paycheck, i've heard people say, i was able under him to get a house, i could never help my mother and even on the pro-life issue, i'm on my way to dc, i will be in the dc area dealing with march for life, rescuing babies in wombs, he's done helping people get out of prison, helping people to go thank work and people get out of welfare, he cut welfare, he gave you a job, well, it's not enough, so then begin to work with what you've got and grow. jillian: alvida king, thank you
