the alleged leak about john bolton's book, do you think this will have any implications as far as calling witnesses and the argument for that? >> i'm not concerned about what bolton has to say, what the american people realize it's all about partisan politics, democrats didn't like the results of 2016 election, i've got news for them, they are not going to like the results of the 2020 elections. the president has outstanding team, in fact, we have heard that even from the liberal fake news media, the ones with a shred of journalistic integrity, they did fantastic job to dismantle democrats' case and patrick what he will do for 49ers on sunday, i couldn't be more pleased as guy who is long

long-time, how president trump never delayed those at all, that those went through, it's much better than president obama's blankets and mrie, we saw some new information. rob: okay, fair enough. you say you are not worried about john bolton testifying, you have to admit it there's probably better chance that he will testify, mitt romney will probably vote for witnesses. after this seems like there's a lot bigger push to get witnesses to testify in this thing. >> well, it's not what the american people want, we need to solve problems that are haunting folks on main street, we got prescription drug prices that need overhaul, porous border and that's my focus, you knowings we rarely feel phone calls about impeachment trial, people are tired of it and ready to switch the channel. jillian: let's hear the president's defense team on saturday. >> they are asking you to remove

president trump from the ballot, they are here to perpetrate the most massive interference in an election in american history. jillian: what we heard on saturday, what do you expect to hear today? >> well, you know, honestly, the strategy the team is to be very succinct, i love it, they are reintroducing some of the -- some of the basic, read the transcript, no quid pro quo, zelenzky, never felt pressure, never had issue with the conversation, also what we are hearing a lot is that funding start and stops all of the time and the funding was for pakistan, south korea, we are well positioned and i feel confident about today. >> okay, fair enough. >> if we do get witnesses and there's a decent chance that we will at this point, republican josh holy wants to subpoena a number of pretty interesting people that republicans would

love to hear from including the whistleblower, also adam schiff and the bidens right there, what do you make of that? >> well, i -- i hear you, josh; if we call more witnesses those are the ones that we would like to hear from obviously; it's time for the american people to move on, i see where senator holy is coming from, i go back, i share border with josh, he's on missouri, kansas city, want to celebrate at the white house. rob: you seem pretty occupied with the super bowl, you are ready for the game. [laughter] rob: let's talk politics now, democratic hopeful elizabeth warren is calling out the election process in this country with a promise to do away with the electoral college. >> my goal is to get elected and to be the last american president elect bid the electoral college, i want the second temple to be that i got directly by direct vote, call me old fashion but the person that gets the most votes would win. rob: wouldn't that silence middle america and is that the plan? liberal analyst kathy aru and chris, thanks for coming today, what do you think of elizabeth warren's idea? >> i think it's absolutely

crazy. it's in a sense of dictatorship, the fact that we would want to have something like this is crazy, we can't have a country that elects people with large populations, the country is built on various beliefs and principles and leaves should be represented all of the time, what's frustrating to me that you have great phenomenal places like iowa which we are familiar with, they produce some of the-they switch between number one and number 2 producing the beef, corn, green, now we don't want to have their voices represented but we can eat their food every day, doesn't make any sense. rob: only people that would get

attention would be people living in big states? >> it isn't true, every person in the united states would have their voice heard, no matter where you live, your voice is heard, you don't have to live in a safe state or a swing state which is what they call them, politicians to states that have most electors, they have to up and down or to every state because every voice will count. rob: hillary clinton won by 3 million votes, it's not fair they say that she's not the president of the united states, what do you say? >> of course look at places like in california, the balance in certain scale is off. you have to have everybody represented, there's a reason why we have smaller states which

obviously have least electoral votes, it all adds up. we can't have places like los angeles, california, vast amounts of population saying, okay, this is who your president is going to be. absolutely not, it's about our country coming together and working together and having voices represented and you live in large population, determine who run it is country, that's now how it's supposed to be. >> kathy, a lot of republicans say you have a party here that's pushing essentially for open borders in this country and bringing anybody over that wants to come in and also giving away a lot of free things, it's easy to win elections when you want to play by those rules and allowing the popular vote would make it even easier? >> well, donald trump himself in 2012 said that he believed that, i think electoral college, he was completely against the electoral and thought it was

designed to go through the process quicker, they are being held in detention for less time, however, it is resulting quick removals because as we said for the past year, 89% to have central americans who claim asylum at the border don't get relief from immigration courts, one they don't show up or two, they don't qualify for asylum. escaping poverty doesn't qualify. the programs are working, demanding ig, there has somebody something wrong, ig will look at the programs and let me end with this statement, because ig says there's something wrong, doesn't mean it's wrong, when i was director i had discussions with the ig chief inspector, we disagreed on findings because they're not experts in immigration process, so you can see -- ig has job to review

programs but also jobs to find problems are no reason for existence, right? jillian: tom, i want to get a look at numbers, you can see shy of 900,000, deportations under president obama and versus president trump, you can see a distinct difference in numbers there, what do you think would happen if the programs went away >> the entire system is going back up. look the immigration courts were almost main case backlog, we have to go through cases quick quicker. people are getting due process and will make cases quicker which means either they will get relief quicker or they're going to be removed quicker, it makes sense because we got to control the border and if you release them in the united states we've shown half don't show up in

court and 90% lose their cases, this is the right thing to do for our country and the right thing to do for them. >> let's talk about this now, alexandria ocasio-cortez was out stumping for bernie sanders in iowa, let's take a listen to what he said on saturday. >> you start to see that ice and cbp in communities to keep safe, i'm here because senator sanders has actually committed to breaking up ice and cbp. >> tom, your thoughts on that statement? >> it's ridiculous, it's extremely stupid statement made by somebody i never considered real smart anyways, but here is elected lawmaker, telling people how to obstruct ice, tipping people to ice, she needs to realize 9 out of 10 of everybody ice arrested last year was convicted criminal or pending charges. 2,000 were murderers, 12 sex
