terrorism throughout the region. mike: this is the first partisan impeachment. what concerns do you have on the impact on the american presidency going forward? >> many as a lawyer. the democrats when they issued the subpoenas, they were invalid in the house. committees can't on their own motion issue such a subpoena. they tried to charge the president with obstruction of congress when he's availing himself of the third branch of government, checks and balances. that's like saying you are going to charge someone with obstruction by make an appeal. this weakens the presidency. basically what they are saying is the legislative branch is you parole and any attempt to seek redress in the courts is a criminal act. you have to think about that.

that's a fundamental damage in the american constitutional order. and there have always been checks and balances. but if it's taken to its logical conclusion. that means the legislative branch is you parole than is no check on its behavior. it would undermine future presidents of both parties. mike: what is the impact in your view in november when you have the white house, a third of the senate and the entire house on the ballot? >> i think the american people are have much tired of this. the democrats have their own problems in the primary. whether they take it by a large enough margin remains to be seen. but i think the democrats are misjudging the american people here.
