moments from inside the house chamber tonight. and the man who replaced john bolton as national security advisor, ambassador robert o'brien. he joins me tonight to tell us what will change under his stewardship. the first, the not ready for prime time democrats. that's the focus of tonight's angle. the democrats bungling of the iowa caucuses, it shouldn't have surprised anyone paying attention to this party lately. after all, what have they actually accomplished over the past three years? think about it. watching this party operate in the trump era has been like watching a slow moving car cra crash. >> chaos and confusion in the iowa caucus. >> it so awkward, so embarrassing. >> this is an unmitigated disaster. >> a horrible showing. >> just pathetic. >> it's pathetic. embarrassing. >> this is a disaster and available for democrats and for iowa. >> laura: when you really think about it, last night was a

perfect embodiment of the democrats's abysmal record. when they revamp health care it fails. when they set up a website, it fails. >> there certainly are some challenges that could be smoother, it could be easier to access. >> nobody says the site is working the way we wanted to. >> laura: when they try to go head-to-head with china, they fail. when they're supposed to protect our personnel abroad, they fail. and then they lie about it. >> it began spontaneously and benghazi as a reaction to what had transpired some hours earlier in cairo, where of course as you know there was a violent protest outside of our embassy sparked by this hateful video. >> laura: i will never forget that. when they promise to improve race relations, they fail. they're just not capable of doing the job.

make sure this thing works, okay? >> laura: okay. contrast all of this, all of this chaos with one of the most successful presidencies, if not the most successful presidency of the modern era. >> their economy is the best it has ever been. our military is completely rebuilt. our families are flourishing. our values are renewed. our pride is restored. and for all of these reasons i say to the people of our great country and to the members of congress, the state of our union is stronger than ever before. >> laura: well, he deserved to take a bow at tonight's state of the union. incredible list of accomplishments, and incredible track record. by any objective standard, if there is fairness left in any avenue of the media, peace and

prosperity, it's made possible by trump's america first policies. they are actually implement it and they work. from trade to border enforceme enforcement, from pressuring nato on dues to deregulation, this agenda is improving the lives of americans at all income levels, all ethnicities, all races. >> the on employment rate for african-americans, hispanic-americans and asian-americans has reached the lowest levels in history. >> laura: there was hesitation for the democrats to apply for that, by the way. by the way, he did all of this -- all of this -- while being hounded and investigated and defamed relentlessly by democrats. and you know what? the democrats don't trust you to choose your own president in november. they were afraid of you. if they don't like you very mu much. check out these polls though. on the trump economy, well, his

approval rating is a staggering 63% today by gallup. in the g.o.p. writing trump's coattails. 51% of americans viewed the g.o.p. favorably. that's up 8% since september. heck of a job, adam. if the first time the republicans favorability has exceeded 50% since 2005! heck of a job, nancy. it's trump's party now. again, this is all a sharp contrast to those democrats who just couldn't set aside even for one night their hatred of this president. all the democrats know how to do is punish wealth creators, apologized for america, level baseless accusations and play the victim card. they trashed the successful while demanding handouts for the

lawbreakers. after what they've put this nation through, this president through, and even their own party through, the democrats need to lose the next election, and badly. they need to lose the house after this epic impeachment bungle. and they need to lose the presidency by a larger margin than last time. trump has to pick up more stat states. then maybe -- and then maybe next time they'll offer a realistic plan to actually grow the economy in the real world. then maybe they'll understand how to use leverage and trade in foreign policy. if somehow any of these top democrats won the presidency -- by the way, they actually wouldn't run the government. the government would run them. so the swamp in the deep state, when they don't have anyone to fight against or plot against that they do withdraw or resist its over for you and me. our freedom, our prosperity, forget it, down the tubes. the graceless democrats must be

just talked about and you talked about in your angle, i have to say when people say he's the greatest president, the greatest conservative president. i back away from that, but then i listen to the list. it's spectacular. we all have to the american people what's going on, because guess what? there's not too many places on the dial where they can hear the truth. >> laura: congressman scalise, the other networks response, their faces told the story of how great the speech was tonight and how formidable this list of accomplishments. this is how jake tapper described it. >> i thought the whole evening with a few exceptions like the tuskegee airmen and a soldier returning from afghanistan, was pretty partisan on both sides. president trump gave a speech that was really not aimed for most of it on uniting the room or uniting the country. >> laura: reaction. >> they are in meltdown. adjuster member, jake tapper had to tweet out earlier today that president trump had a 49% approval rating.

highest rating he's had, you talk about 50% g.o.p. rating. these numbers are scaring them to death. when they watch the meltdown they had in iowa -- what a contrast. a party that cannot run an election. i mean, you could probably pay some college kids with a case of beer to write an app to count votes for less than 200,000 people. if they couldn't pull it off last night. so now they want to run the country. they want to make a case when president trump lists all the accomplishments like matt said, these are real compliments that are benefiting every family that was left behind. millions of people. the working men and women that washington had left behind. republican-democrat like that president trump reached out to four years ago, they voted for him. they are going to show up again in november to reelect this president because he's delivered on his promises. >> laura: iowa was something to behold. we've heard the last three years the democrats complaining that trump is hurting people's faith in the democratic process. that people aren't going to trust votes anymore because of trump and russia.

and who's to blame? they actually -- and some people tried to blame trump for iowa. i've seen some "new york times" reporter saying well, he shook the faith in the system, and that was kerosene on the fire in iowa. i think maggie abraham tweeted something. >> that's just nonsense. if anything, the democrats have basically lost faith in themselves. and let's talk about this app. this is so important to the democrats. so important to them and they can even manage to get there after work. he didn't even take the offer from the department of homeland security to basically test of the app, so now we're going to put them in charge? they're going to win the election come up with them in charge of, what, our health care? everything else that they want to do, socialize everything so they can have these horrendous apps and websites to basically manage the american people? >> laura: our experts are better than their experts. our cabinet, trump 'his cabinet is better than any cabinet and i think in my lifetime without a doubt. who are the elites here?

and i saw the president with a lot of heart tonight. we are going to get into some of this with raymond arroyo later. but i teared up several times during the speech tonight. i was -- whether it was rush limbaugh or the soldier, but i know every president does those. but he hurts deeply for these american military personnel. >> this president more than anybody cares so much about law enforcement, our men and women in uniform. he rebuilt our military at a time -- keep this in mind. president trump took office, we had more men and women in uniform dying from training exercises more than combat missions. buy a five to one margin. flying on a plane, training at an american military base. you had a higher likelihood of dying than being in afghanistan. he fixed it. when that soldier walked in and his wife and kids were there, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. but to watch democrats sitting, sitting instead of applauding, killing of terrorists. sitting instead of applauding. a girl being able to get opportunities in life because

she doesn't have to go to a failing school. >> laura: that was revealing. of course rush limbaugh, who announced his cancer -- just dear friend of mine and inspiring to so many. >> he was truly touched. >> laura: you see the president is very close with him and then to hear members of the u.s. media and their comments, watch. >> he was trying to make appeals to the african-american community. it can't be forgotten that he was awarding the metal -- rush limbaugh who has a history of making derogatory comments about african-americans. >> laura: jim acosta is disgusting. it was a disgusting comment. i disgusting comment and false. >> is absolutely false. this has been the narrative of the democrats. this is what we saw in the obama administration. you played susan rice. lying to the american people. they lied to the american people continuously. if the russian hoax was a bunch of lies. they've used of the media and their friends in the media unfortunately to disseminate all of these false narratives.

2016 he took positions that people said that he was either dangerous or crazy. and now they've become orthodox. we thought that china was for like the great and powerful oz with his picture on the screen that was going to take over the world, 2,030 and then trump pulled away the curtain and their small minded people with gears and levers. think what he did. the tariff -- the t word you weren't supposed to even speak and he's winning the first round of the trade war and it's almost like it's caused an internal nervous breakdown we learn about this, orwellian surveillance system and with 1 million people in reeducation camps, the coronavirus, the hong kong protest and the democracy activists. the whole country is imploding. then he looked at the middle east and he said the palestinians are not the key to peace in the middle east. i mean, they've been refugees for 75 years, we are going to move the embassy, get out of the iran deal, they don't have to give back the golan heights and syria, we will not give any more money to the u.n. all of people are saying you

someone in the gallery. but what about the last couple of weeks and then ending with tonight in the state of the union month tomorrow with his acquittal, what does it tell us? speak of the first thing is this gallup poll tells us if the ultimate repudiation of the impeachment process and all the obsessions of official washington. voters are seeing strong economy, the president talked about tonight. they are feeling good about where the nation is. they are basing their opinions on reality, not political rhetoric. and what it says tonight -- what the speech did tonight to show us just how difficult it is to campaign -- how it's going to be very difficult for the democrats to campaign against a track record like this. you've got peace and prosperity. you really want to be the incumbent president. >> laura: 63% approval rating for the economy. >> on the economy, that's right. >> laura: steve, there's a lot of good news for the president with minority voters, at least their sentiment about things stand today, tell us. it's because also 49% -- this is

a member, by the way, that has to have democratic strategists in the media alice just pulling their hair out. 49% approval in that same gallup poll among minorities for president trump on the economy. that's an astounding number. and it builds on a fox news number from the latest fox news poll, which show 52% approval among hispanics on the issue of the economy for president trump and to tie it into tonight's speech. if you watch that speech, this was really a tour de force of american exceptionalism and up the president knows that exceptionalism can never be fully complete until minorities start to participate in economic promise of america, which they are now starting to do in record numbers by every metric. and given that, this speech tonight, i thought in many ways, laura, was really targeted -- persuasion to minority americans in terms of the topics presented, the guests who were present. it was extremely effective, and

we know even before the speech based on these polling numbers but this message is resonating with black and brown citizens in this country. >> laura: and scott, we heard van jones on cnn, watched this meant he said, we better pay attention to minority voters. others on his network were kind of blowing up the image, they think it might have connected, but gosh, i mean, you're if you do when you're if you don't if you're president trump. if you don't try to act more inclusively than your trash. if you do, then it's symbolism. he can't win matt, scott. >> you know, the president is never going to win with democrats, but that's not the objective. he's trying to win with voters. in his outreach to african-americans is not going to win him a majority of the african-american vote, but it will increase his support a little bit. his outreach for the hispanic community is going to have an impact. and when you're talking about constituencies that the democratic party feels that have been their most loyal and could

supportive constituencies, that's a real problem. if that's what they're tearing their hair out. an overall support for what's really happening in america. >> laura: it was a fascinating thing to behold. gentlemen, thanks so much. up with us now is raymond arroyo. we have a lot to get to. what was happening, the gestures, facial expressions, sitting, standing tonight that tells us a lot, raymond? this was something to see. it democrats sitting on their hands. >> welcome a lawyer, look, there was something here that really for everybody. if you look closely. i want to show you this. obviously it was the centerpiece of what we saw tonight. pelosi ripping up that state of the union speech. here's the problem, laura. she's whipping up not only things she disagrees with, but the things she stood for, the things she applauded. she's destroying -- the president signs the state of the union address and hands it to the speaker. that petulance, and anger, what we saw there is a glimpse of what fueled this entire

impeachment crusade, laura. and she tried to explain herself. watch. >> that was the courteous thing to do. >> laura: wow. she tried -- well -- >> she tries to toss this out. she grew too great of yourself, it was a despicable play of petulance, temper tantrum. what i see there, one of our twitter followers that may be those with articles of impeachment she's shredding and frustration. >> laura: there angry. raymond, the segment we just did, adam schiff -- gave the republicans an eight-point boost in favorability since september. >> but laura, this was a one-off. this was the culmination of a series of disrespectful moments throughout the state of the union. you'll see here while the president was speaking, the speaker seems as if she's checking her portfolio. well, maybe that's the impeachment manager's reports, i don't know. but she slipping it, reading it, looking at, and analyzing it. and what its overture tears it up like it's trash and throws it away.

i've never seen anything -- >> laura: the most moving moments. >> first of all, there was the tuskegee airmen come with a hundred-year-old charles mccain and his great grandson who was there, that was gorgeous. but then there was two others that had us in tears. first was on the president recognized radio icon rush limbaugh is battling lung cancer and he surprised him this way. >> in recognition of all that you have done for our nation, the millions of people a day that you speak to and that you inspire and all of the incredible work that you have done for charity, i am proud to announce tonight that you will be receiving our country's highest civilian honor, the presidential medal of freedom. here now is eric trump, executive vice president of the trump organization. eric, i've got to say, i've been in this town for far too long, longer than i want to admit annexing a lot of state of the union speeches. this was phenomenal. it really was. and it was a little long, but it was okay that it was long, because so many things are going well for america, but the media's take away has to be it was dark. i don't know what speech he was watching. it was incredible! >> it was uplifting, it was a credible. i think my father won reelection today. i really mean that. i've seen every speech is ever given, it been to every state of the union he's ever been a part of. tonight was his finest, finest moment. as americans we should be proud. it was just an incredible day for us. it's been a credible week for us. >> laura: when the president is acquitted tomorrow, this will cap off a week where usmca was signed, they started down the road toward at least a conversation about middle east peace, a plan.

it will be changed and worked on. but of course then the speech where we bring together families who have been separated, rush limbaugh, who -- let me -- a democrat or republican, the man is a broadcasting pioneer whose won every word you can won in radio broadcasting. a couple times. and encouraged a generation of broadcasters. in the bitterness and the meanness, does that stem from there knowing that right now at least it looks dark for them? >> first of all, they had a disastrous week coming out of iowa. iowa, the turnup for my father in an uncontested election was unbelievable. we had hundreds and hundreds of people showing up everywhere we went and trump shorts and everything else, right? they had a disastrous week. he capped it off with a speech done and they are upset. laura, they were talking about -- my father was talk about the lowest on a plane and ever. lowest female on employment, lowest african-american on employment. >> laura: they would not stand for those moments. you see the suits all in
