to face a mild pandemic, something that's spread in the community at least since november in china, spreading efficiently human to human and we will see more and more cases all over the world. it's really important to remember that most cases are mild and we are only hearing and hearing about severe cases because we are not testing mild cases, mild cases are the norm for this infection. eric: when you say mild cases, what do you mean by that is that? >> we know coronavirus cause half of common cold, they may have fever, soar throat and may be the extent of symptoms, only with people with medical conditions and advanced age that advance pneumonia and once we start testing, i think we will find that we do have much more mild cases than we do severe. eric: how much of a danger to us here at home? >> i do think we have to be prepared to see cases in the united states, right now 15

it's a crisis of president trump's making. >> very strong words from senate minority leader chuck schumer following president trump's twitter outrage over the roger stone case and this is also coming as attorney general bill barr says the president's tweets make it impossible for him to do his extraordinary. the democrats say the case is raising new concerns about the independents of the justice department, attorney general john decker is here, fox news radio white house correspondent, so john, good to have you. thank you. i want to start with that interview with abc news where ag barr says that the president's tweets make it impossible to do his extraordinary. there are skepticism that the attorney general's publish pushback is rhetorical, is there a lack of independence in attorney general barr? >> that's what the clip said,
11:23 am
that's what chuck schumer he believes and in effect 9 u.s. senators have called on the attorney general to step down from this position but if you watch that interview and know you did, this is troubling, the president's tweet and weighing in on criminal matters make it difficult to do his extraordinary, independent from the white house and that there's no undo political influence that the department of justice makes on a variety matters that come before the justice department. arthel: meanwhile the president said, i have the legal right to make the calls and i might do it again basically, he says he's refraining from stepping going further, if you will, but he says he could if he wants to. >> and the president is right, there's nothing illegal in terms of the president speaking to senior justice department officials even the attorney general about investigations that he would like to see done
11:24 am
on individuals or corporations, that being said that just hasn't taken place, there's been this fire wall, this independence between office of presidency and generally what we have seen in the last half century there's independence in terms of the decisions as it relates to criminal matters that the department of justice pursues. arthel: so yesterday the department of justice dropped the investigation and closed the case against former fbi deputy director andrew mccabe, according to your sources and reporting, john, does the president support that decision? >> he does not. i believe he tweeted about this earlier today, arthel, he's not pleased, the president has railed against andrew mccabe, former deputy fbi director, railed against him publicly in terms of statements, in terms of tweets over the course of the past 2 years, so he's not pleased by that, arthel, and a
11:25 am
lot of conservatives are pleased that the case has been completely dropped against andrew mccabe, this is a final decision, the case is closed against andrew mccabe and he does not have to worry about any type of criminal now being brought against him. arthel: meanwhile there's reporting that the department of justice will resurrect case of michael flynn, former security adviser found guilty for making false statements to the fbi. so the attorney general has appointed an outside prosecutor to re-examine this case, so john by appointing a u.s. attorney based in st. louis does this quell questions of undo presidential pressure on the doj? >> well, certainly not among democrats, they're concern that this is another instance in the same week in which roger stone sentence was reduced by the department of justice, this is another instance of the president perhaps weighing in on another criminal matter on an
11:26 am
individual that obviously has close connections to the president, you remember that general flynn was fired 24 days into the extraordinary as the national security adviser because he lied to the vice president and as it relates to the case brought against him, the charge is that he's been found guilty of, pled guilty to, is that he also lied to federal investigators. he wants to withdraw that guilty ply and that's what this outside investigator, the u.s. attorney for st. louis, missouri has brought onto see whether or not that this case has any type of issues which would relate to perhaps this case being dropped altogether against general flynn and so we will have to see where this particular investigation goes, but it's been quite a week for the department of justice when you think about these 3 particular cases all with connections to president trump, all being brought up in the same week. arthel: resulting in
11:27 am
resignations by some very experienced prosecutors, let me round out and finish with this, john, you mentioned mostly democrats are concerned about this but we did play some sound from senate majority leader mitch mcconnell saying that there needs to be a line of demarcation between doj and the white house in terms of independence. as you know senior democratic lawmakers including senior senator warren call to go resign and how likely that to happen and is there any way that president will fire attorney general? >> the president did send out a tweet he has confidence and the white house saying that the president has full confidence in attorney general william barr and the attorney general has been, i think, arthel one of the strongest allies of the president since he came on board
11:28 am
almost a year ago, i don't think he's going anywhere and obviously he has to deal with all of the incoming from both the left and the right, he's sort of between rock and hard place now when you figure that there's criticism coming from conservatives because of dropping of the case against andrew mccabe but also as you mentioned 9 democratic senators mostly liberals are also calling on the attorney general to step down. arthel: john decker, we have to leave it there. take care. >> you too. eric: we have been investigating what happened to jimmy hoffa. chuck o'brian said drove hoffa to his death has died, he and his family all said he was innocent, but you know chucky seem today know what may have happened, how the loss of chucky o'brian can impact the nearly 45-year long case.

11:48 am
not, should the president tell it like it is? >> i wouldn't say those words, on the other side of ledger, world leaders always sugar coat stuff especially when they are talking about other world leaders, this is really about china and the reason is china has, of course, has been deliberately suppressing information and has been going, we know less about what's been going on as time progresses so i think to a certain extent they are trying to keep trump in the dark, nonetheless, i would be more candid if i were making those words because i think the american people, they depend on good information and correct assessments if they are going to get through this, things are going okay right now, but also we heard before in your show, it could get worse here. arthel: i want to play sound from white house economic adviser larr larry kudlow. >> we have a great trade deal

closed their car plants because they can't get parts from china and we are seeing this across the board in products to car parts. this is going to in the minds of corporate, they will see china as less reliable member of global supply chains and on on the quote from larry kudlow, there have been real change in the administration, it's a much more sobber tone right now. arthel: maybe, quickly because i'm out of time, could the u.s. take advantage of this and perhaps develop and make manufacture more goods here in the u.s. and therefore we don't have to have and perhaps make all of that -- those products more affordable for companies? >> that will be a natural consequence, business will do this on its own, wilbur ross, commerce secretary made comments that have gotten a lot of criticism on this regard, but he was right in the sense, this is going to encourage companies to
