continues to grow. >> reporter: many of those american cruiseship travelers threatened by the coronavirus are safe back in the states, a few decided to stay behind, 328 americans were flown back on two planes after staying days on the cruiseship in yokohama, japan. 14 tested positive for the virus and are being treated at hospitals including one in omaha, nebraska. passengers do remain on the ship in yokohama despite new figures that show another 88 on board contracted the virus. one american and his wife decided to stick with the quarantine on board. take a listen. >> we didn't want to leave before was done and expose ourselves to people who had the virus. the information we were getting was why the united states

decided to switch its position on where was the best place to be. >> reporter: the latest numbers out of china, the center for the disease, 1873 deaths, 72,438 cases including in those deaths, the director of one of the main hospitals in wuhan. there have been 1700 casualties among caregivers alone. the daily number of new deaths and new cases experts say is going down but still high and the impact on businesses are strong as well. apple is downgrading its latest profit forecast. under armor sales are way down, hsbc cutting jobs in part due to the virus and volkswagen stopping some of its factories because it is missing parts. one estimate today, this virus is 20 times more fatal than the common flu and that already packs a punch.

jillian: we expect to find out how a south carolina girl died. faye swetlik's body was found near homeless week after she went missing. police linked her death to a neighbor, 30-year-old cody scott taylor seen in this yearbook photo was also dead inside his home. an item belonging to faye swetlik was found inside his trashcan. a local funeral home is paying for her expenses, her public memorial is planned for friday. investigators are running buckets of snow to find evidence connected to the disappearance of a missing colorado boy. gannon vanished on his way to a friend's house. police have expanded the search far from his home to an isolated area in douglas county.

amy knows what it takes to run a successful caucus in joins us with her expertise. thanks for joining us. you just heard that volunteer, you have some who are concerned out there and all eyes normally would be on nevada but probably more because of what happened in iowa. what are you hearing about how they are preparing? >> they are valid concerns. as far as the check in process that has been flawless except for very long lines due to the high turnout but i've heard conflicting reports where even lifelong democrats still have not received information on where to vote and where to participate which is interesting. i did have a friend who took advantage of the same day voter registration and use to be a republican and switched to democrat to participate. he said he heard from many

workers that they are concerned about the tallying of the vote in the end. the fact that they have up to 5 selections to make and that they have early voting which normally you would see in a primary, not a caucus because the deck of a caucus is to debate and have discussions so this is been interesting to watch unfold and it can be easily manipulated in the end because the boxes themselves where they are putting their ballots in don't seem to be too secure from what i have been told. >> really caucusing was strange to me too. the head of the dnc, tom perez. >> our goal is to have a caucus that is as low-tech as humanly possible while preserving efficiency. one lesson we took from iowa is we need to be talking relentlessly with our volunteers.

>> how funny is it we are going back in time. we didn't have to worry about this 20 years ago. we are so scared because of technology. >> some locations were dropped using the ipad altogether because it is not functioning or they are not able to check people in quick enough so they have gone back to paper and other locations are able to keep that ipad. it will be interesting to see how they compile this information successfully in the end. >> of something like iowa were to happen again, maybe not even to that extreme but if something were to go wrong how much do you think this will upset the democrats back? >> interesting dynamic because when you listen to a lot of the local reporting on people attending the caucus and ask who are you supporting there's a lot of confliction. there is not a strong answer on who the candidate is going to be to come out on top. it is more who is going to beat

ties and is opposed to acts of vandalism on the public transit system which is needed and shared by all new yorkers, but among thousands part-time faculty we hire each year some will disagree with nyu's position, such is the nature of free speech and economic freedom. in his protest, they wrote f police on the walls, calling for free subways, he would like an anarchist protest. let me ask you this. what do you think would happen if a right-wing professor heller pro-life rally in washington? >> some of our meetings we had, professors who happen to be on the right side of the political spectrum are protested by other students who very strongly disagree with pretty moderate views on the right so i think if anybody were to do this on the other side it would be very - why we are so unbalanced and have declined treatment.

rob: do you think nyu condones this behavior? it is a farm effect. i had email from people who say they couldn't get home because their offices were letting people out early to get around this thing. this cost mayhem. >> if this was someone on the right, there is a complete double standard to conservatives on campus at nyu and college of all across the country. this is why donald trump suggested border about free-speech on campus and transparency. the mandates, obligates universities to uphold the 1 amendment and drive institutions to abide by their internal free-speech guidelines and that is very helpful for us on campus. rob: what is it like to be in a republican group at new york university? >> we have a tightknit group that is a lot of fun but has challenges when it comes to dealing with people like that. rob: i imagine it would.
