steve: meanwhile vice president mike pence assuring the american people the president's decisive action will keep americans safe. ainsley: aishah hasnie joins us more from the newsroom with the latest casey cases from california. a little scary. >> it is. 8400 people right now in california are being watched for symptoms of this virus. this as president trump may use special war powers to fast track the production of face masks. the u.s. actually needs 300 million specialized masks but only has around 12 million. reuters is reporting this morning that the president plans to invoke the defense production act to call on american factories to quickly produce these masks. meantime the cdc is expected to send more test kits to california which only has about 200 of them left. this is crucial. as the northern california woman who mysteriously got the virus without ever going to china wasn't tested for it for four days despite requests from hospital

staff. california is also at the center of a whistleblower complaint which claims health and human services sent employees to evaluate those hundreds of americans rescued from china without the proper protective gear. the department says it is looking into it. and last night, vice president mike pence, who is heading the country's response assured sean hannity that the threat is low at home thanks to the president. >> the reality is that because of the actions of president trump took last month, literally ending travel, closing borders people coming in from china, establishing a quarantine process. setting up a task force. if the president hadn't taken those unprecedented steps. >> they didn't seem to like it then. >> we would be in a very different place today, sean. >> this morning, new fears you could pass the virus to your pets. in hong kong a pet dog just tested positive for that virus after his owner got sick. making it the first possible

that china seems the number of new confirmed case cases is declining nationwide and they believe the worse is over. >> this is about a story of new cases here or number of new cases there this is story of a rolling crash. i will use that word on the stock market. we have had the worst week in many, many years. we have had the sharpest sell-off since a high two weeks ago we were at a high, now we are 10, 12% below that it's a rolling crash. and i am going to use another word. that was the result of panic selling late yesterday afternoon. those are very strong words to use. rolling crash, panic. brian: why yesterday afternoon? >> because we had news of the expanding virus. okay. it is spreading around the world. the california story. this morning you have got more of the same. they have quarantined a whole town in germany. very bad sign. japan has closed all of its schools until april. that's a draconian move. brian: sporting events, too. >> sporting events shut

down. what have you got here is a feeling that you don't want to associate with other people, you don't want to be in crowds. you don't want to be on a plane. you don't want to travel. you might get stuck. and when you have that clamp down on human activity, human interaction, you are slowing the economy all around the world. steve: right. >> the fear is that it comes here. we haven't reached that point yet, but that's the fear. that's why have got this panic selling. steve: that's why one of the reasons a number of weeks ago the president restricted certain travel and things like that. >> yes. steve: he was widely criticized at the time but now it looks like it was a pretty good idea. here is the speaker of the house who actually has been taking shots at the president talking about how it all fits in to, among other things, the market. >> want to prevent, without a panicking people about this, but the market will do what it does with the invisible hand that it always does. but, again, it can't effect what we do if what we're there to do is to prevent

and not panic people on the subject. the president said something so strange that you really have to wonder. he said the reason the market dropped is because of the debate the other night. well, the market had dropped 1800 points before the debate. so, you know, let's not be silly about what that is. >> i think this is flat-out wrong. do not politicize a national health crisis. ainsley: i agree. >> the democrats are making the panic worse. steve: the president said the other night we need to all be working together. >> yes. and he is taking concrete action to stem the flow here. look at aoc. alexandria ocasio-cortez. she says that she is mocking vice president pence saying is he a science denier. elizabeth warren talked about the bungled response to the virus outbreak being a mess. that's not the way you encourage.

offer any policies. awful they are doing is offering opposition to donald trump except for bernie sanders. and where sanders is right is people think he has radical ideas. they have become the commonplace ideas inside the democratic party. bernie has radicalized the democratic party. now, the rest of america understands and sees how bad his ideas are. they understand what socialism is. and that's why i think still he is the best opponent for donald trump to have. the ease yates to beat although i still say it will be a close election no matter what. i would rather have sanders. sanders has socialismized that party. steve: he has, indeed. there is a "new york times" article that talks about how the super delegated in the party feel. they talked to 93 of them. they all hate the idea of bernie sanders. ainsley: can you believe this? steve: apparently according to this bill clinton is telling his old friends on the phone that this bernie sanders is the nominee. the party is going to get wiped out. ainsley: super delegates can vote for somebody else. steve: on the second

>> great to be back. thank you, steve. steve: what's behind these numbers? so many people said with that kind of rhetoric nobody is going to vote for him who has hispanic blood in them. >> right. steve: and, yet, you look at the numbers and they are going the other way. i don't understand. >> right. we see the opposite is true. this president though specializes in defying expectations. doesn't he and defying the critics. certainly in this case. i will give you a one word reason why in this case. opportunity. hispanics are embracing the opportunity that this president's policies have brought to our community, particularly when it comes to the economy. that same fox news poll that you mentioned. it had an economic approval number of 52% for president trump. among hispanics. hispanics are thriving in this country. as are all-american underdogs aspirational strifers. this is a blue collar boom. many hispanics nate category. in addition to that steve, i think this is crucial, is the entrepreneurial zeal that is alive again in this country. hispanics are statistically

tunnel running into arizona. the video shows the tunnel is not yet completed. it's the third time since december that agents have discovered an underground drug smuggling route in that area. brian? brian: all right. thank you. 33 people now testing positive for the caronavirus in california. we now know the first american who tested positive with no known link to china wasn't tested for four days. here to discuss it is fox news medical contributor dr. nicole saphier. dr. saphier, first off, on that, the markets really took a pounding because we found out there was no links to china. what is your take on that. >> look, the economic and emotional from this information is going to hit us much harder than the virus in itself. the important thing is to separate fact from fiction and lessen the unwarranted panic. so, sars cov 2 is the virus that causes croft. about 3500 outside of china.

half were on that cruise ship. currently we have 60 cases in the united states. 33 of them being in california. the important thing to remember is the far majority of those cases are people from the repatriation flights back. couple of the very close contact. the one case, the woman currently in critical condition with the virus has brought questions of you who did she get infected and are there asymptomatic people infecting others. before we start having widespread panic we have some random woman with the disease the important thing to remember this is solon know county this is the travis air force base where we have a large amount of people being quarantined to get the people out of quarantine they either need to have two negative test for the virus or need to be symptom-free for 14 days. after 14 days of no symptoms, they are being released. and unfortunately, we have seen that there are asymptomatic people who are testing positive for the virus. they need to change that perhaps everyone needs to be

tested for the virus before they can be released. not just based on symptoms. the cdc just in the last couple of days has loosened their recommendations regarding who needs to be tested. so the solono county woman likely had a contact with someone who was infected. brian: the lot of people going the president is considering executive order considering one report to start producing masks on a mass level. do masks work? should we all be trying to buy masks? >> before everyone goes out and purchasing things and preparing for apalm lips. keep things in perspective. masks do work preventing infection. of the people who need masks are those that are particular sick, close contact you, family members and healthcare workers. by everyone going out and taking up all of these splice it is leaving us with not enough of them in the people who actually need them. the truth is most people don't actually wear masks appropriately. they are not working for them. brian: 85% of cases are in china. number of cases are declining. 81,000 plus just over that right now with it.

2,662 roughly have died. if people get the caronavirus today, and they are not compromised at all prior, are they going to die? >> so, the report that came out of china, they put out a very small study that showed about 2% death rate with this virus. i think that's overestimated because they have underreported their cases. outside of china the death rate is less than 1% it. is still a little bit higher than the flu. but the truth is over 80% of people just have a very mild infection just like a common cold, a few more of that can have a severe infection and less than 1% have critical illness. but the important thing to remember is when you are comparing it with the flu we have the flu vaccine, known treatments for the flu and also have a heightened awareness so people are diagnosed earlier. when it comes to caronavirus vs. the flu death rates are going to be similar. brian: gotcha. see what happens. next year probably two different vaccine. >> we have 3,000 people being diagnosed with the flu in new york city every week alone. we have to continue hand

could turn around. joe biden is poised to have a big night in south carolina. it's tough to do the math, the trajectory of you who anybody gets to 1911 delegates. steve: don't you think, bret, if joe biden does really well and according to the polls, the emerson poll he is running away with it in south carolina. given a couple days, the super tuesday states that look like a run away for bernie sanders, people might be going, you know, i have been listening to the bernie sanders thing and maybe is he a socialist or communist if you listen to some commentators and michael bloomberg i really didn't like him so much during the last debate and the one before that, so maybe joe is the safe bet? >> exactly. that's what the biden campaign is hoping. and hoping that he doesn't, you know, trip up along the way. i think south carolina is, possibly, the turn around for joe biden. at least in the short-term. and the question is whether super tuesday can you get any of those states. brian: he has spent almost no time and money in those other indicates and doesn't seem to have the energy.

i would be stunned if the momentum changes. ainsley: biden? >> the problem is there are other people in the race. have you got to get to 15%. and to get the viability, to get delegation, there are some states that he is not even there. brian: i know. ainsley: people didn't see the town hall with klobuchar. she is knocking both bloomberg and biden, watch. this as far as the mayor, i mean, my concern always has, i'm the one that pushed to have him on the debate stage. i think that you can't just have money determine politics. the way you do that is first of all not blowing it up like some of my colleagues senator sanders and senator warren want to do. all of bernie's plans combined, medicare for all and many things have been estimated to be $60 trillion. that is three times the cost of the entire u.s. economy. brian: they are making him do the math. even though he says we don't have time to do it.

ainsley: good morning. i know you have a great relationship with the president. you were the first politician when you were lieutenant governor to support or to endorse him back in 2016. what can we expect tonight at the rally? >> it's going to be wild. the place will be jam-packed. probably every seat and probably as many people outside as inside. it will be thousands of people that can't get in. i have never seen anything like it in all these years in politics and everybody i know. we have never seen anything like the enthusiasm and actual love people have for donald trump. it's great. ainsley: the doors are going to open at 3:00. it's going to be at the north charleston coliseum and rally starts at 7:00 if folks watching want to go and head out there. his job approval rating in south carolina among registered voters is 53% according to nbc and marist poll. why do you think that he is doing so well in that state? >> well, he has given everybody confidence. everybody is working. ainsley, we have 5 million people approximately a little more in this state and we have about 70,000

good jobs that are looking for people. it's the trump economy. people have confidence in the country. they see that we are standing up around the world. everybody who has a job who wants a job can have one here. the same all over the country. people are growing, prosperity is breaking out. i mean, it's just a wonderful thing. and it's all happened since donald trump has been president. ainsley: you know, governor, i grew up in that state as you know. i was shocked to see one of these polls. if you look at the monmouth poll and clemson university poll, they have biden 20 points, 18-point lead in our state. but the posten courier as you know is the newspaper in charleston, they have bernie neck and neck. look biden 28% and sanders 24%. why is that? are you shocked? i'm surprised socialism, according to this poll is fairing well in that state? >> well, a lot of people don't know what socialism is and they will need to find out. i hope that the democrats really don't believe all

crisis narrative, the doomsday narrative that donald trump is doing everything wrong. there is other polls also done by gallup that show that democrats, as soon as donald trump gets elected start being less proud of their country. you see republicans over time averaging about the same, no matter who is president. brian: yep. >> when donald trump becomes president. democrats tend to be less proud of their country like there is a sharp drop. what does this tell you? it tells you that democrats voters believe what their politicians are telling them that everything is in crisis. that the only way to save america is through some socialist revolution. brian: right. >> it's really sad. we should have some gratitude for how great our country is doing. we should feel like we are doing well because we are doing well. and the only way to win an election for these people is to sell people on this revolution. brian: right, if the president wants to guarantee his election, find a way to lower prescription drug costs and attack healthcare is what most people care about. what are you doing real quick, dan? >> so if the democrats passed price controls on drugs because they are simplicity in thinking. if you put a price control

specifically about the coronavirus, and he was very calm, if anything, understated and said that by april, because of warming weather, you know, that the weather will be our best friend. that was widely stopped by people who said we need much more urgency, and i think the selection, for example, of vice president pence while widely ridiculed on the left is a great idea, a man who has the president's ear, and the gr avitas of being the vice president of the united states and compare him with the chief of staff retired for vice president gore, the head of the ebola response, a real career politician, picked by president obama, and president trump picked his sitting vice president, presiding vice president to head our efforts indicating how serious it is. steve: it is but the thing is the president has to strike a balance. if he just goes wow i can't believe how bad this is that's irresponsible.

you know, you've got all this circular reasoning where you've got one guy going to the press and then they use the press story as a basis to corroborate his allegation. this is unfair. it appears that the fisa court is being used more to monitor american citizens, or in this case, the president, or presidential campaign, than it is foreign terrorists, and if that's what they're doing the american people should stand up and say no but the problem is that we need this court in some cases. we've got terrorists, we're living in a dangerous world. steve: we've just never had transparency which is hard with this. >> judge: what we found out by horowitz is that you've got a lawyer in the department of justice whose actually changing or the fbi changing the truth and the facts. i mean, these people need to go to jail. ainsley: what's coming up on your show tomorrow? >> judge: we'll talk about the coronavirus, coming out of the carolina primaries, it's going to be a fast-moving show tomorrow night, peter navarro,

ainsley: conservatives from all over the country gathering just outside our nations capitol this week for cpac. steve: later this morning our next guest will take the stage to talk about faith and freedom and a little bit of football. brian: new england patriots tightened ben watson yes the patriots dragged him out of retirement and bagged him to come back. ben it's good to see you. how does this remind you of super bowl week? >> ben: well i'll tell you what the media row is incredible there's an excitement in the air obviously just like during the super bowl for a different reason, obviously, but the amount of people that are here, is really incredible. steve: this is the second time you've spoken at cpac. what are you going to tell the folks? >> ben: today i'm talking about family. family is the basic building block of our society and the nucleus of all civilization. there are several checks i believe on the family going on right now in our country and my encouragement is simply to protect families, encourage mothers and fathers because the kids they raise will be our leaders of tomorrow.

ainsley: they say in the church, state and love for families so you have a message for black history month, right? >> ben: of course, you know, this month, every day i've been posting a figure or an event that has happened in black history and i believe it was a man named carter d. wilson that talked about emphasizing the ne gro in history not just certain figures, so black people have contributed to history throughout history and especially when it comes to america. today, i highlighted a man named james armsted, who actually help ed george washington defeat the british at yorktown. it's a great story to be made into a movie but there are so many figures and we all benefit what we learn about these events in our history. brian: and ben real quick, is tom brady coming back to the patriots? >> ben: man, i knew you'd ask that question and if i had enough money to pay him i could give you the answer but i don't know. i'm waiting to see just like you i'm talking to him every other day seeing what's going on but his lips are seals and i'll sit and wait just like everybody else. steve: when you talk to him next
