door is open, come on in. the election will not be close. >> good morning, it is supertuesday, march 3rd. thank you for joining us on what is going to be a big day across the country, a last-minute centrist shakeup since joe biden riding a wave of momentum as bernie sanders cries foul, bursting his on progressive base to tack onto his delegate lead, his support racked up to 60 in
1:02 am
his favor but biden is not far behind and with one third of the party of delegates from 14 states up for grabs it is anyone's race. the candidates will divvy up 1357 delegates tonight but the prospect of nominee needs 1991. whoever clinches that spot will take on donald trump in november. rally in the packed crowd, let's get to team coverage, sanders social justice director joins us with analysis and the team on the ground from coast-to-coast as the fight for supertuesday begins. live in dallas, texas the latest, great to see you. >> great to see you. happy supertuesday, 4 hours and counting until the polls open across the state of texas
1:03 am
following a big night of political news that happened in dallas where joe biden had a big campaign rally scheduled ahead of supertuesday but had last-minute expect guests joining him on stage. amy klobuchar who announced suspension of her own presidential campaign giving joe biden her endorsement is did beto o'rourke and pete buttigieg from indiana. he too about out of the presidential race and joe biden showed his gratitude on stage before hundreds of texans last night. >> i warned pete that i would be asking him to be involved in this process. a generation of leaders.
1:04 am
>> many analysts say this is a smart move in an attempt to edge out bernie sanders who currently holds the most delegates and polls suggest maintains a double-digit lead against biden in texas where 228 of those delegates will be awarded in his primary tonight, proportionately by senate districts. a lot at stake today. heather: we will talk about how it may balance out later. it will be a long day. let's head to colorado. joe biden scoring a last-minute endorsement from local leaders looking to unite the democratic party, griff jenkins is live in denver where he talked to voters.
1:05 am
>> we are in colorado where for the first time in 20 years they've moved from a caucus to a primary, officials breathe a sigh of relief after the trouble in iowa. there are 67 delegates up for grabs of which a small portion went to 457 but it will be a dogfight for them. sanders has led widely in the polls, he won by 59% in 2016. in colorado he is buoyed by the young people coming out and listening to his message and here was sanders last night. listen. >> it is no surprise, they do not want me to become president because our administration will transform this country to create an economy and a government that works for all of the people, not just the one person. >> biden trying to mount a
1:06 am
comeback, a little time in colorado but getting key endorsements, more than a dozen including roy romer and two term mayor michael hancock, here's what he told us yesterday. >> this is the most important election of this generation. we needed a candidate who could unite the party and unite the nation. the reality is this is a guy most people are going to trust. >> while it is a little bit taken for granted that bernie sanders will win in colorado we hit the streets in denver and found out not everybody is feeling the burn. >> i want somebody who will not change too much, make little improvements and not do these radical changes and radical spending so many of the candidates are claiming that they want to bring to the table. >> i'm voting for bernie because he is the leading candidate on climate change and medicare for all which i find absolutely necessary.
1:07 am
>> i don't want sanders. i like biden better than sanders. >> there are 3.4 million registered voters in colorado. we found out last night about 1.2 million have been returned so there will be 1 million ballots coming in today. it could take days to find out the total delegate allocation number and that is significant because 15% is the magic number to hit. a candidate had to hit 50% to get any delegates, sanders may win in one district, if biden or war bloomberg has 50% they will get a portion as well. >> thank you so much, griff jenkins live in denver. we appreciate it. several candidates taking a big bet on california. the golden state has the most delegates up for grabs. in los angeles, william breaks it down. >> the 14 states voting, california is the begins a lot of with 30% of all delegates.
1:08 am
in the past california was largely irrelevant for this primary in june, now, moving up to supertuesday candidates come here not just for money but for votes. your the questions today, will sanders continue to outperform with hispanics which is 25% of democratic voters? can black voters and hillary moderates keep joe biden alive? bloomberg is the x factor, spent $66 million on television, runs strong in the same areas as biden, the bulls, la times predict sanders could win half of the state's delegates, others have them at 35%, biden 25%, bloomberg and warren at 16%, she performs the best in silicon valley, malibu and la jolla but california is not winner take all like griff mentioned, delegates are awarded proportionally so don't expect a
1:09 am
knockout punch from sanders, in the 2018 primary, 67% of all votes were cast before election day. this year is running 40%, that could help biden with that late surge, there are 20 names on the ballot, those who voted first iron, klobuchar, yang and mayor p, those votes are meaningless, the other x factor, independent voters, not registered at all can show up on election day and vote anywhere in the state in the democratic primary. >> the real question is where is the large percentage of no party preference voters? where are they going to head? if it were to be a single party, would be the second highest in registration behind democrats. >> 15% threshold, biden does surge it is possible warren and bloomberg could get the votes.
1:10 am
heather: it could shake out a lot of different ways, appreciate it. which way is moment shifting on the supertuesday? joining me is bernie sanders's campaign director. let's begin, i want your response to all the folks dropping out and putting their support behind biden. >> dropping out like flies in the last 24 hours. it has to do with showmanship. they wanted to help out joe biden, would have done a month ago. where is beto? why hasn't he helped organize texas? maybe he has been doing it quietly behind-the-scenes was a live in texas and haven't heard much about beta. yesterday was a strong message to show the moderate candidates will be lining up behind joe
1:11 am
biden, not much can happen between yesterday and today. i don't see much change but i do see sanders running through march and obviously at the convention. >> you don't think the folks who dropped out and through their support behind biden, you had klobuchar and buttigieg both dropping out, beto in texas, buttigieg was supposedly going to do well in california, the other big state to look at besides texas. >> it is too late. people and people watching news 24/7 but they don't, i still have people asking about senator harris if she still in the race. people are just not in tune to this like we are watching a 24/seven. a lot of absentee ballots have been cast and they will still be on the ballot when people vote and a lot of people will vote
1:12 am
for their favorite candidate, they will get the numbers and they have to own up to the loss they take, they can just say i got out, if amy klobuchar loses tonight, does not have a lot of votes that come in she has to accept the loss and i just say i got it last night and that is what it was about, she did not want to lose her home state. heather: michael bloomberg, he will formally get his name on the first ballot of the 2020 race, listen to what he said about whether he should drop out and back biden as well. >> i haven't even face the voters want at the national level. they have been in a number of elections, they competed in the four small states which i chose not to. >> like it wasn't going to work would you support joe biden? >> we will see at the time.
1:13 am
>> bypassing the early voting states, will he stay out? >> people are really underestimating bloomberg. we know you can't abide election, stier spent more money than the candidates combined and look at how he placed. people are not understanding the impact of the 100 mayors that support bloomberg. they can deliver a clyburn type below, not a complete knockout but people remember their mayors. in houston mayor turner supported bloomberg but they can see him get things done but they should not underestimate what bloomberg could do. heather: i will be watching you on social media. thank you as always, donald trump blasting democratic rivals in charlotte. >> a plan to illuminate our borders, many mike's plan to eliminate your second amendment. heather: do any of them have a chance in the bible belt? it is not what americans want.

>> sleepy joe. i thought he gave up the presidency. they because he said he is running for the senate. he had a plan to illuminate our border, many mike's plan to eliminate your second amendment. virtually every democrat candidate has declared their unlimited support for extreme late-term abortions. >> donald trump terry into 2020 democrats far left policies claiming the radical ideas are not supported by americans. do any of them have a real shot competing in the bible belt and beyond.
1:18 am
deputy communications director aaron green was at the rally and joins us to weigh in. thank you for joining us, we appreciate it as always. you were at the rally last night, give us a feel for what the crowd was like. >> if last night was any indication north carolina is trump country. it was allowed raucous crowd filling the arena to capacity with thousands outside who couldn't make it in. another great rally for donald trump. >> one of many supertuesday states, today's the day. how do you figure the democratic candidates that are still in the race, we had a couple dropping out the we will talk about in a moment, how will they fare against donald trump if they should make it to the general election and their policies? >> it doesn't matter which democrat makes it out a chaotic disarray of the primary process, they don't stand a chance
1:19 am
against donald trump and his successful first term in office, soaring economy with 220,000 jobs added here in the state of north carolina, a stronger safer america thanks to his decisive action to secure the border and keep americans safe and better healthcare system, we are talking about repealing the individual mandate and opening up more options for healthcare plans for americans, contrast that with any of the democrats no matter which one comes out of the primary process and they don't stand a chance, they are the party that is going as far as late-term abortions, trying to take away the lawful second amendment of the constitution, just as important as the first amendment of the constitution and they support things as far as permissive open borders policies, donald trump is america first. >> bojangles coliseum in

charlotte holds 10,000 people, appears to be full all the way up to the rafters, lots of people standing in line for hours and hours and hours. what were the folks saying to you. are they geared up to go and vote? >> absolutely. we had one woman in line who had been there since thursday to see donald trump on monday. we have huge support in north carolina for donald trump and his accomplishments, people are talking about the fact the socialist the government attempted takeover by democrats is not what they want. i talked to many rally goers saying i fled cuba, i fled venezuela, dictatorships don't work. i'm here for the american dream and here because donald trump supports the american dream, contrast could not be clearer. donald trump is america first, democracy first and freedom first, contrast that with democrats who want more government and the government socialism it is clear donald trump on policy alone will win in november. >> policies are drastically different, the woman in line

candidates consolidating behind biden, amy klobuchar, pete buttigieg not just dropping out but endorsing and campaigning in the same day. this happens in traditional races. we know candidates emerge, usually earlier than this. we are late in the game but the same process is happening in look like joe biden has momentum going into super tuesday which he will need. sanders had a free ride until now as candidate with a plurality in the pole position but he hasn't been under attack, hasn't been as that it until recently. it is like watching a primary and slow-motion. we are all catching up and sanders is feeling the heat as a front runner who has only captured one of four democratic votes. shannon: a lot of delegates up for grabs. what do you think this means down the road for the general election? >> right now might be a day later dollars that for democrats

system. amy klobuchar was leading in the polls but behind her bernie sanders and elizabeth foreign, more left-wing candidates. bernie sanders held a big rally where ilhan omar took the stage and said minnesota's and for revolution. the question is this state will be a bellwether of states look a little more like iowa and new hampshire are going to go moving forward in this primary election, question whether amy klobuchar delegates move over to joe biden or whether some of those voters in a very progressive state of minnesota move over to bernie sanders. >> what is your feeling? what do you think will happen? >> democrats, it is a very progressive state. there is a reason minnesota hasn't gone for a republican in decades. ronald reagan didn't even carry it in 1984 and states next-door
