for grabs today. >> team coverage with chuck rocha and trump 2020 national press secretary kaylee mcinerney. rob: casey steagall on the ground in critical primary states that we begin with the most consequential state, california. >> we kick off our coverage, good morning. >> reporter: california, you might think this is a slamdunk for bernie sanders with his late evidence that is not the case. voting by mail began a month ago but unlike 2018, when 67% of votes were cast before election day this year the majority of voters are waiting and that could help joe biden. will bernie sanders continue to outperform with hispanics which represent 30% of democratic voters? can black voters and hillary moderates from the last election keep joe biden competitive?

bloomberg is the x factor, once a key endorsement and has cut into joe biden's support especially in los angeles. finally the polls from the la times predict sanders could went up to half of the state's 415 delegates, others have him around 35%, biden 25, bloomberg, warren, at 16, warren winning in upscale suburbs lexicon valley, malibu and la jolla but neither worn or biden could afford television here, sanders, 7 million, the best field team, bloomberg 70 million in ads and continues to dominate the airwaves. >> millions of dollars have to be spent to make an impact in the state of 40 million people. which the population is not concentrated in one area or two areas like other states but in multiple areas.

behind california texas is given the second-largest price on supertuesday out of the 228 delegates that will be awarded, 149 awarded proportionately by senate districts, 79 will be based on statewide result accounting for 17% of all delegates across the nation on election day so candidates have been laser focused on texas and last night in dallas joe biden's campaign getting a last-minute boost with some unexpected guests, pete buttigieg throwing his support to biden a day after ending his own presidential campaign as did beto o'rourke and rounding out the trio, amy klobuchar joining biden on the stage in dallas after dropping out of the race just hours before. >> i'm absolutely confident not only democrats been dependents

will decide who the nominee is going to be. rob: talking latino voters in california and texas, that is a big percentage of them. if this thing comes down to the convention and bernie gets pushed out of the way what will he do in that moment? will he bow out? >> i have been to every convention since i was the youngest delegate from texas and i have endorsed bernie sanders, i give you one right there. when you go into the convention if we have the most delicate and they declares one of the winners that they will have a hard time swallowing that. jillian: is there any nervousness in the bernie sanders camp coming off of the heels of joe biden in south carolina and seeing the events that transpired between pete buttigieg and amy klobuchar and beto o'rourke endorsing joe biden?

rob: democrats buckling up for a dramatic super tuesday. >> how important are today's elections? how important have they been in the past? joining us as presidential historian and author of the burning of the white house jane hamilton cook, appreciate it. let's start with the delegates that are needed or up for grabs, 1981 are needed to grab the nomination on super tuesday, 1357. how important is this day? >> super tuesday is super important, you have a patchwork,

not sure how everything will fall out with bloomberg and boomerang biden is i'm calling him, super tuesday is important. rob: look at the states that are most important. california is a new one at 450 delegates, the largest, texas is a big one too, north carolina with 110, alabama 52, minnesota, virginia, who does a day like this favorite? a more moderate candidate? >> what california, california favors bernie sanders, that is his to lose, he will likely win, just a matter of how many delegates does he get. it is a numbers game, california has not competed recently on super tuesday. they moved it up this year. that is important. north carolina is important to joe biden. he just won south carolina.

north carolina has a similar demographic, strong african american vote, alabama, biden might pull it off. some states that a few weeks ago we counted him completely out. jillian: heading into this day bernie sanders, joe biden following close behind with 54, things have shifted in the last few days. how will this clear out between the two of them? >> bernie sanders is going to come out in the lead. will he have enough to reach the magic number of 1991 to win the nomination before the convention? will bloomberg, will biden split up the other delegates and get enough of a piece of the pie to blend that momentum? that is what we are looking for, the big question, how much will these other candidates get in terms of delegates? how competitive will this race

become? rob: everybody wants to go to bed with an indication of who's going to be the nominee. historically do you get that out of super tuesday? >> not necessarily. in 1984 the first super tuesday gary hart won more states than anyone else but former vice president walter mondale won georgia and he turned that into a combat and he was the nominee and that was because of superdelegates at the convention. he was the party favorite. you don't know for sure. jillian: thanks for joining us. it is 6 minutes until the top of the hour, voters getting a chance to vote for bloomberg for the first time. will his strategy pay off or is it a miscalculation? rob: carly shimkus is here with social media reaction and predictions coming up next. ♪

with social media's response to this alleged trifecta? carley: it is really interesting to see, guys. just last week joe biden's campaign was really considered to be on life support. after an impressive finish in south carolina. the endorsements have started rolling in but marianne williamson who has since endorsed bernie sanders thinks this whole thing is a little fishy. pete and amy both endorsing biden tonight. they must have read art of the deal suggesting biden must promised them something in return. democratic party showed tonight biden is such a weak candidate that he needs the entire establishment to prop him up. another twitter user saying i think everyone got the stop bernie memo and matthew points out that joe biden still doesn't have that coveted endorsement from former president obama. we shall see if that happens. because if he is going to endorse biden, today would be a good day to do it. jillian: that's pretty

interesting. michael bloomberg is on the ballot and people are wondering if his strategy is going to pay off. carley: michael bloomberg has only been run for president a little over three months. in that time period he has spent half a billion dollars on campaign ads. today a huge day for him. first time his name is going to be on the ballot and a lot of people are i do baiting whether or not his strategy is going to work out. one person on instagram says he has no chance. his entire campaign is based on his wealth and disdain for our president. lastly this twitter user shay also saying things aren't going to go well for bloomberg tonight. no, he is everything that democrats claim they are against bloomberg is really banking on a big day today. he thinks i could win it all in a contested convention format, guys he hats plenty of money to keep going. jillian: don't forget to check out our super tuesday election coverage which starts at 2:00 eastern
