himself. what is going on? >> i think the democrats as a party had a choice, and if you think about it, it's a horrible choice. it's a choice, sort of a clinical not, and were an not. the clinical not is biden, the ideological not is sanders. and the party has basically decided we have to go with the clinical nut. he might not be able to move except as a marionette, but he is our marionette, we can control him. i think the problem here, it's not even really so much of a purely ideological divide, per se. biden and sanders are not that far apart on many major issues. the green new deal for, for example, or giving health care to illegals. i think the main issue is sanders is a little too much out of the closet and speaking his mind, whereas going back to obama, the strategy that worked for the democrats is, i would call it stealth socialism. you might be a socialist, but
7:19 pm

maybe that would even bring the panic down a little bit in the country. joining me and i was ramin oskoui, he's been looking into this. we have information for all sorts of others' diseases, but why not the coronavirus, dr. o? >> it seems to be there may be a genetic predisposition. we saw this in mirs and sars. if you look around the world, china, italy, iran, even cruise ships, these are places where the air quality is extremely poor. it makes you wonder. we also suspect smokers may be at higher risk, and that might be why the male/female distribution is different. the cdc needs to be more forthright with with demographics feel this wouldn't violate hipaa. >> laura: the privacy rule protects all individually identifiable health information.

and it is information, including demographic data, that identifies the individual, or that can be used to identify. but that doesn't say if you're one particular ethnicity -- you can't identify an individual for that, correct? >> of course not. and there is public safety issue here, as well. i get a phone call about a patient, i'm expected to be forthright about the medical history, but something like this specifically, we need to be more -- more precise about what the risk factors are. people who are high risk and self-quarantine, or be much more cautious about what they do. >> laura: tonight, "the washington post" is reporting that vice president pence touted a new policy with any american being tested with a doctor's order. some physicians expressed a concern that people with mild symptoms, like what i'm feeling right now, might overwhelm a natiothenation's testing abilit. speak of the cdc distributed
