owning republican? >> well being a femininist is compatible because essentially, just going back to the woman's s ufferage movement this is the days of susan b. anthony who was pro- life, who called for women to defend themselves when they could, that's really what the origin is really about even the christian movement, so i in this piece for the independent, i just blatantly talk about the facts that feminism and the republican party or even being a christian are not mutually exclusive. they are something that actually go together, and have been since the beginning of the woman's movement. jedediah: many have labeled joe biden as a moderate in this race because they are always contrasting him with bernie sanders but joe biden has come out and said oh, on guns i'm going to bring beto o'rourke and he was saying he's going to take

slightly at 3.5%. we are here with stuart "varney ." host of "varney" & company. tell us about this job. >>stuart: blockbuster report totally unexpected. this gives you a very good snapshot of the way the economy performed in february and also in january to some extent and it's performing very very well. but remember, please. this was a backward look. this is looking to the past, looking to february. before we got the real impact of the virus on our economy. so yes it's a blockbuster 273,000 jobs is absolutely terrific, and a 3.5% unemployment rate is really very good, but you got to look forward. where are we going here, as the virus effects our economy steve: just think about that february number, there was a week or so where the coronavirus was impacting the united states. >>stuart: a little bit. steve: it could have been a much bigger number. >>stuart: maybe it was certainly effecting travel and certainly effecting some people not wanting to maybe go out and shop
5:37 am
in malls that kind of thing but a very very limited impact that's a blockbuster report. pete: what's the reason for that report then, in light of it? >>stuart: strong economy. all the indicators, no matter which part of the economy you look at, january and february, very very strong. but you see , you've got to look forward here. that's what the stock market is doing. that's why the stock market is going to be way down this morning, even though you've got that blockbuster report the futures indicate a loss at the opening bell for the dow of around 750 points. that's going to take us way down but more importantly you've got an absolute tumble in interest rates. let's not get technical but the year is on a 10 year treasury historic low but there's a bright side to that and the bright side is mortgage rates are going to tumble you're already at what 3.29% on the 30 year fixed the classic mortgage. that's going to go down and adjustable rate mortgages will go way down too. steve: so that's the good news.
5:38 am
>>stuart: i'm trying to find a bright spot. steve: but the bad is if you are living on fixed income, this is as bad as it gets. >>stuart: yeah you got nothing savers get nothing at this point and investors who got their money in the stock market, they're seeing their holdings decline as well, so there's a couple of pieces of bad news there. pete: if you look at the market stuart is it pricing in the reality that we're going to see more from the virus? >>stuart: good question. it's pricing in what we don't know. there is a risk that the virus really does slow down our economy for a quarter or two. the markets pricing that in, but you don't know what the impact is going to be. you don't know when we come out of it on the other side, as we inevitably will. you just don't know so investors always cautious, sell just in case it's going to be real bad. jedediah: this is all solid news right now for president trump when you look at the numbers today obviously with the virus and the impact of that you don't know. what should he be doing or saying? >>stuart: i think there's two items here yes it's very good
