like flies, they gone into survival minnesota mode. they don't -- survival mode. they talk about take their children out of school, education suffers. they talk about canceling march madness and coachella. and they go in depression mode because their quality of life is over. and who better to trump th -- bo trumpet than cnn. the total loss of 3,000 points over the past week on the dow. judge jeanine: you want to focus on the dow now? where were you when the dow and the s & p and nasdaq repeatedly reached record highs under president trump. you weren't interested then.

where were you when the dow closed as a the at a record high. where were you when animal spirits were driving the economy to record heights. our economy can sustain a 3,000-point drop because we are at record highs. job numbers came out and they are beyond expectation. long-term interest rates are plunging so people can refinance. those who need subsidies are going to get them. and the media complains there was a lackluster initial response by the trumped ministration. say what? let's start with the fact that the u.s. has one of the best healthcare systems in the world. january 31 the trump administration restricted entry into this country from china in

an effort to stem the outbreak. american travelers were under quarantine as the administration declared a rare health emergency. the president did this knowing it would send shocks through the stock market, that it would rather industry between the world's two largest economics. he immediately put together the smartest, most sophisticated team of scientists and healthcare officials to deal with his declares coronavirus health emergency. he assigned to vice president mike pence the job of organizing a team to work with state and local governments. his efforts have been nonstop. the political criticisms by the left like the governor of

washington and new york state are nothing more than political gamesmanship that have no place in this effort. the effort to develop a vaccine and making testing kits available to every doctor in this country with a minimum of $4 million going to each of the 50 states is underway. what to do? it's a virus like the flu. it can be mistaken for the flu. a sore throat, a cough, a fever. and it is flu season. you say but people are dying. sadly that's true. and not only are condolences in order. but we owe it to their families and all americans to couple with a vaccine. like the flu, tests for the coronavirus are being made available to every state lab. political trial -- clinical trials will be made available

for the vaccine. they are work vigorously to cut down the red tape. and the best and brightest and resolute areorking nonstop to create this vaccine. they say the mortality rate forward the coronavirus is higher than the flu. consider we have a flu vaccine but in 2019, 16,000 americans died from the flu. imagine if we didn't have the flu vaccine the flu would be a pandemic. so all the talk about the coronavirus being so much more deadly doesn't reflect reality. without a vaccine the flu would be far more deadly. now, what we do know is the mortality rate is much higher among elderly adults. according to reports, the risk of dying if infected is higher.

which might explain when we see children are not really affected by the virus. but dr. fauci said the risk is great if you as an elderly person have scene underlying condition like heart disease, diabetes or pass ma. smoking is also a factor pap 50% of chinese men are smokers. >> people die, that's what happens in life. the bp oil spill was going to end the world. . judge jeanine: what to do? wash your hands. i know everyone thinks there has to be more to this. the reason you wash your hands is to get the germs off. the reason why you need to get the germs off because you can then transfer them to your eyes,

conducto coronavirus tests today. a week ago today, our leader at the fda at the president's direction changed the rules governing the development of a test. we have over a million tests. the biggest news this week was the president brought together the leaders of the top commercial laboratories in the country. and he said we need you to work together to put together the tests so the american people at their local doctor, their pharmacy and what they used to call a med check, can go in and get that. at the end of this week the two of largest commercial laboratories in america said they will have a test ready to go to market monday. that's real leadership. judge jeanine: what is that

test? sometimes we see people with taking the temperature. then we hear about swabs. what is the test? vice president pence: doctors tell me it's a cotton swab in your nose. we send it in and process it. the test takes about 4-6 hours. the state labs can do it once they receive the swab, and hospitals can do it as we distributed the tests around the country. the commercial laboratories can transport these materials all over the country very rapidly overnight. and get that level of reassurance to the american public. i will tell you, we have seen this community spread of the coronavirus in washington state where i was just yesterday, and in california. and i want your viewers to know as we have been ramping up the

test, it's the coronavirus came ashore in the united states. that's we have been focusing tests at the point of the need where states requested them, state labs said they needed them, and particularly in the seattle area and parts of california that have seen multiple coronavirus cases. and tragically families have seen the loss of life. judge jeanine: when does someone go for the test. if someone has a cough and a voar throat, do you self-quarantine and call your doctor and hope it goes away? vice president pence: that's an individual decision for everybody. we are still in cold and flu season. even though march has finally arrived. it's a good time of the year to use common sense. if you know of someone who is

ill, and encourage them to stay home from work for a day. wash your hands on a regular basis. hot soap and water for 20 seconds is fine. for me personally, if i came into -- if i became aware that i had been in contact pore proximity with some were who had the coronavirus and then i had the flu-like symptoms. that might be the right time to go to your doctor and seek a test. judge jeanine: you talked about the grand princess. and 19 of those who tested positive for crew members. i suspect the number of cases, though we expect the increase might go down as the weather gets better. are healthcare providers more in a danger zone where normal

people might not be? vice president pence: they are. the president made it very clear that our task force early on. we want to make sure anyone that contracts the coronavirus has the support and the resources and we are working with companies not just to develop a vaccine that could be ready within a year and a half. but therapeutic medications that would give relief. the risk to the favre american of contracting the coronavirus remains low. even those who contract the virus, the vast majority except for a small few percent at the top will go through flu-like symptoms, but they will recover. for our part we are focusing on the patient, focusing on americans' health first. the reason i was in minnesota this week is we are focusing on

making sure our healthcare workers have the protective equipment. have the masks and gloves and eye wear to work with patients without being concerned about their own health. i was encouraged in minnesota to hear from 3m they are at full capacity. they are producing 35 million masks a month. and we'll work with members of congress to make sure all 35 million will be available to healthcare workers. judge jeanine: speaking of masks and mixed messages. matt gaetz, the congressman walking around with a full-on gas mask. if the administration's message is do what you are going to do unless you are a senior with some kinds of underlying jil illness. how do you deal with these mixed

messages? vice president pence: you put it exactly right. in the press conference friday i thought dr. fauci explained it very well. for the vast majority of healthy americans for every age. the risk of contracting the coronavirus is low. even if they contract it the risk of any serious outcome kiss also low. but for any elderly american with a serious underlying health condition, this might be the time to reconsider certain activities. as we look at the data around the world, and dr. debra burkes who is one of the leading experts on infectious disease on the planet, my right arm in all of this. she looked at the data in italy and found the average age of people who had passed away from

judge jeanine: now for part two of my exclusive sit-down with vice president mike pence on the fight against coronavirus and the mess and all americans need to hear. you were on justice a few months ago and we were talking about the 2020 ticket and your role on the ticket. right now you are the most essential person in this country dealing with probably the

biggest issue you have dealt with in your career. you have an esteemed career in this country. how does that make you feel? vice president pence: i am honored by the president's confidencing me to lead this. not just because i'm his vice president and the -- and he wand the country to know the pry port he was placing on this. the mers case came to indiana when i was governor in 2014. it was then that i realize the vital role local healthcare providers. stated health officials and the federal government and the cdc play in dealing with the threat of serious infectious disease. as the president and i talked he asked me to help lead this

effort. i'm going to continue to bring the best and brightest minds in america together. with the decisive leadership that the american people have seen from president trump i know we'll get through this together. judge jeanine: as you gone into supermarket and some of these stores you see the shelves are empty. is this stockpiling making any sense? or is it overreacting? and when people start buying medicines that might be necessary forther people with the flu or coronavirus. doesn't it bring home that we need to have that supply of medicine in the united states. we shouldn't have to rely on china for the medications or ingredients or india or anyone else. when can the american people start to see the supply chain is

in america. vice president pence: the president raised that issue with pharmaceutical companies around the cabinet table this week when we were talking about the coronavirus. no one has done more to reset our trade with china and president trump. he says it's about the strength of our economy, by realized it's all oh about the health and he will continue to drive in that regard. there is no need for americans to stockpile food, stockpile water. the rise together parchg american contracting the coronavirus remains very low. the risk of a serious outcome even if you contract the virus is a so very low. and jeanine, we are going to continue to bring the facts to the american people. to your point, it's very

important people understand how they can be helpful. i think there is two ways. they can make sure the supplies that americans that are struggling with, the coronavirus and other health challenges, the american people don't need to buy masks. frankly when people go out and buy masks and other personal protective equipment, it reduces the overall supply for healthcare providers who need it. the same goes for many medicines. i think it's a thing the american people can do is to make sure those resources are available at the point of the need. and the american people can also avail themselves of that great well spring of american strength. it's a good time to pray for those in this country that contract the coronavirus here

and around the world. the vast majority who contracted it recover and are cog well. -- are doing well. but pray for the healthcare workers and those who are recovering. judge jeanine: what can you tell us about the president's contact with president xi and how they first handled this outbreak. is the president going to hold them accountable for the way this walking handled? vice president pence: the american people should know that the reason that we don't have a much breather prevalence of crossed * around this country today is completely owing to the unprecedented decision that president trump made to suspend

all travel from china and quarantine americans who returned from china and from the cruise ship. no american president in history has ever done that, jeanine. it has given us space as a country to deal with this in a much more thorough and effective way. with regard to china, the president enjoys a strong relationship with president xi with a strong stands on trade. but he has had interactions with president xi on this issue. according to publicly available data, there is actually less new cases in china every day for the last few days than there are in other places around the world that represents the beginning of a hopeful trends if correct. the president's made it clear while we'll always put america first in the health and safety of america first. we'll develop the therapies, we'll develop the medicines.

saying? i would stands up against this if i was a democrat. i think the same thing should happen here. what the democrats are doing. they didn't like the president so they impeached him. he doesn't like what's happening in the court system so they are trying to intimidate them. this is what the socialist democrats believe. they want to control what they are saying and control your thought. if we had the democrats' plan for healthcare, we wouldn't have the money to work on you a cure and we wouldn't have the private sector working on a vaccine and cure. this is dangerous if they were to win in november and go forward. that's why we have to take the house back. judge jeanine: it's always good having you here.

[♪] judge jeanine: this past tuesday, super tuesday, support for president trump was through the roof. that's right. i said president trump who doesn't even have a primary opponent. but you you wouldn't know how well he did from the mainstream media. senator tim scott, welcome to "justice." it's great to see you. we have a two-person race on the democrat side. but some of the numbers of people voting for president trump in the primaries last week were amazing when you compare them even with president obama's

voters turnout in the same primaries in his reelection year. do you think this is a reason why we shouldn't trust the traditional polls when it comes to the president? senator scott: president trump taws us not to trust polls. he had a rally in south carolina and the momentum, the enthusiasm and frankly at capacity in the coliseum, thousands outside the coliseum for one reason, the trump economy blows everything we have seen in my lifetime away. the enthusiasm around his presidency is palpable. it's one of the most amazing scenes i have ever been a part of. electricity in the room. he attracts more folks to the party. when you look at the cross-section of who is come

together rallies and voting for president trump. it's not just traditional republicans. it's democrats attending the rallies and coming across the aisles to vote for him. african-americans and hispanics, the women, all coming together celebrating the success of the trump years. we haven't seen anything like this since the ron solid reagan years -- since the ronald reagan years. judge jeanine: do you think it biden momentum continues or does bernie draw or take delegates away from biden? >> i think it's still a two-man race. i heard the empire strikes back. that's the democrat leadership decided they do not want bernie sanders as their nominee. they all got on one page to do one thing, not help biden win, but to stop bernie from taking

what seems to be in many ways his rightful place and top of a progressive liberal socialist agenda. they are doing everything in their power to rebrands their party that supports socialism into something that's more moderate or mainstream. and i don't think biden gets across the finish line in november, but he will do so between now and the democrat convention? july. i suspect the party leadership plus the strong biden bounce from south carolina where he put together african-american voters and the church coalition. it may help re-elect president trump. judge jeanine: since one of bind's greatest assets is the fact he's so strong in the african-american communities, what does it mean if it comes down to a trump-biden race in

28.8 against -- 47.8% against biden and trump. i don't know if you can always believe these polls. but is texas turning purple? congressman crenshaw: we can't ignore the data and ignore the polls. we have to speak to all kinds of texans. when we are worried about texas turning purple is because our kids tends to vote for democrats. democrats -- kids are susceptible to the democrat message. it's will revolution. it's about feeling good. it's about giving you stuff. it's up to us to explain to our students and our youth what that really means. what those false promises are. i pointed out after bernie

tweeted to young voters that this is their election. i pointed out that the democrats plan to increase the senior citizens' benefits and tax young people to pay for that. those are unsustainable policies make our social securities system go broke. judge jeanine: unemployment for young people is up along with all the other categories, yet they seem to be attracted to socialism. congressman crenshaw: unemployment is down across all categories. there is a plethora of jobs out there and a huge amount of opportunity. young people want a gig economy where you can choose to sell your work in your own time. many of the bills they pass dee

destroy your ability to sell your labor and do what you want to do. they are susceptible to this romantic language of socialism and everyone look out for one another. you have to do it at the community level. you can't pretends you are more moral because you asked the government to do something you yourself are not willing to do brand-new that's basically what socialism is. judge jeanine: with the significance of joe biden's win, as you look at the election going forward, joe biden has to it would seem to me implode before the next election, assum- assuming he even is the candidate. congressman crenshaw: he doesn't seem to have the energy to keep going. buff we need to point out a
