last left would at the end of the day senator sanders based on the votes as shown he has not been able to retain his base. several people running and such and such wouldn't have dropped out it would be better. tomorrow we are going to see the math, what is like for biden and sanders to go toe to toe with no one else running in no more excuses. the establishment politics always play the role but at the end of the day this is sanders's race to lose, he has more volunteers, more staff, more money, more everything so he has to accept the response ability.

specifically in mississippi? >> i don't think bernie sanders will do well in mississippi. he barely got 20% in 2016 elections and you are seeing in mississippi the same thing you are seeing nationally where the democratic establishment is coalescing around joe biden and they will do in mississippi with their doing initially which is everything they can do to make sure bernie sanders doesn't get the democratic nomination. shannon: just because the democratic establishment in mississippi or are there other factors at play? >> a lot of things going on including the fact that biden is a known quantity among democratic voters in the south. you certainly have a more moderate electorate even on the democratic side and you do nationally who are turned off by explicit calls to socialism that you're getting from bernie sanders but i think at the end of the day this is part of a national effort to deny bernie sanders the nomination which is

why you have the bulk of democratic leaders being very clear that they are endorsing joe biden and trying to encourage everybody they can to vote for joe biden in the primary. >> when you look at the african-american vote in mississippi that makes up 37.8% of the population, even though jesse jackson ended up endorsing bernie that won't help? >> that's right but both black and white mississippi democratic voters are going to be more moderate because democratic party has gone so far to the left. we had an experience in mississippi, 100 local conservative democrats just in the last year have called us and said we've got to come to the republican party, the extremism from leaders of the democratic party are so bad we can't be affiliated with it anymore and we want to come over and be republicans. i don't think that's any surprise. shannon: glad you brought that

because i saw where you mentioned you've had nearly 100 local democrats walk away from their party and become republicans in the last 12 months. >> that is right. mississippi has a long tradition of electing conservative democrats at local levels. half of the sheriffs in mississippi continue to be democrats and we have worked relentlessly the last 2 and a half years to remind local democrats there's only one conservative party in mississippi just like there's only one conservative party in america and donald trump has been crucial in getting those people to come over. i can go and say do you want to stand with bernie sanders and joe biden and aoc or do you want to stand with donald trump is almost universally the response is we want to be with donald trump, we want to be republicans, want to walk away from extremism democratic party. >> what about the unions. we can put this up for people at home in terms of the unions who are backing biden, specifically in the state of mississippi, missouri and michigan, two different unions of from their

support behind him and if you look at bernie sanders he has three in michigan. >> that is right. sanders has union support, we have one in mississippi, the unions are not as strong in mississippi as they are in other places. they try to unionize -- it was voted down 60-40 so i don't think they have as much influence but the unions are an extension of the establishment of the democratic party so they think joe biden will give them a chance of winning, i think they are wrong. where the democratic nominee is donald trump is going to be reelected president but you see unions allison behind biden for the same reason you see the rest of the establishment doing, they are terrified of having a democrat on the ticket who is willing to admit he is a
