tv   The Ingraham Angle  FOX News  March 10, 2020 7:00pm-8:00pm PDT

7:00 pm
unfortunately, no coronavirus outbreaks thankfully in arkansas. sounds like an excuse. we will always tell you the truth, fair and balanced, no hysteria here, laura ingraham is live right now. >> laura: that i am laura ingraham this is "the ingraham angle" from washington tonight we have a huge show for you and a moment. my angle on what the democrats are totally incapable of handling this coronavirus outbreak and thank goodness we have someone in the white house who is. plus white house chief advisor on-site with me and he's going to tell us what the president is planning to do with this economy, and what he might do with democrats. but first, it super tuesday part two and the majority of polls are closing in idaho, 1 of 6 states holding democrat primaries tonight, let's go live now. we have none other than bret baier and martha maccallum, brett we
7:01 pm
thought this would happen, but get out the berms because it looks like a bite and sweep tonight. >> it does laura, thank you, it's a another good night for biden. we've got projections that the former vice president has won the biggest prize of the night, michigan and its 125 delegates. >> biden also crushing bernie sanders in mississippi where he won more than 80% of the vote, 96% of the african-american vote is the number of mississippi, and he cruised in missouri with 60% of the vote in missouri. >> still no results from north dakota, caucused there as soon as we get any boats there, we will start to bring those to you on screen throughout the night. >> some delegates have already been awarded this evening, joe biden was 766, we are reading 777, his numbers continue to roll in sanderson's at 623. >> we will have a complete wrap up, probably some more numbers,
7:02 pm
raw numbers from those other states at 11:00 p.m. eastern time when all of the polls will close in idaho and washington state as well. a pretty interesting night, big night for joe biden. >> brett and martha, what a difference a couple weeks make. we will be watching at 11. >> laura: it we you that joe biden -- job biden was a man to be, he had some stumbles on the way, continues to stumble, but this is huge for him tonight. brett and martha will be back and shortly. but first gratitude and perspective, that's the focus of tonight's angle. two months after the coronavirus entered the united states via china, let's not forget where it came from, it's taken the lives that at least 27 americans, infected nearly 800. of these numbers will grow over the next weeks and months, and they probably don't tell an accurate picture right now because of our relatively small testing sample.
7:03 pm
we've already talked about this. we all know that businesses and workers are already beginning to heart, working parents are dealing with the disruption of school closures, i'm one of them. my kids are out for the next week at least. amidst all the bad news, we have to keep our perspective. there is some good news! our economy is the best in the world, why, but due to the policies and to the foresight of president trump. he understands the importance -- remember this, it's very critical to remember this at this time -- of preserving strong nation-states , namely our own. the resilience of her workforce, our ability to learn lessons quickly, i in the sights of situations should give us full confidence that we are going to whether this just find in the end. but imagine how much worse the situation could be right out if we didn't have a president who acted fast to stop travel from key high risk areas.
7:04 pm
>> that number would've been substantially more. we've taken this unbelievably seriously. the biggest thing we did it was stopping the inflow of people early on, that was weeks ahead of strict agile, weeks ahead of what other people would've done. >> and what if, what if the wuhan virus had hit after hillary clinton had won the presidency? is her handling of ben because he is any guide, it would've been a nightmare. and certainly her economy would've already stalled under her economic policy, we wouldn't see the growth that we've seen under trump. and what about sanders or biden more president? same problem, only worse. >> health care is a human right for all. not just a privilege for the wealthy. we need to pass a medicare for all -- >> creating in the process, we will create 10 million good
7:05 pm
paying jobs. not 15 bucks an hour, 45, 50 bucks an hour. with benefits. >> laura: if you believe that, more government control, shutdown oil and gas. that's how they would actually handle a coronavirus outbreak. do we really think that move to stop travel and to shut down the southern border? >> if you had to weed you closed on the borders? >> no. we have a president who has a propagated xenophobic anti-immigrant sentiment from before he was elected. what we need to do is have the scientists take a hard look at what we need to do. >> laura: i'll translate for you, no, he would not. bring in more chinese, that's how we would handle this probl problem. after your tax dollars are used to develop vaccine, a sanders administration would've wanted you to cover the cost for everyone. okay, but also for everyone
7:06 pm
across the globe. >> when that vaccine is developed, obviously it should be made free to every person in this country, and in fact every person in the world. >> laura: why not? never let a good crisis to go to waste, they would use this health emergency to spend money on stupid programs. any excuse to grow our already bloated government. >> be at the talk about unemployment insurance. >> we want paid it sick leave and emergency unemployment insurance. >> what they do need is paid slickly. >> all right, with the democrats in charge, we would apparently not be leaving houses at all, at least not to go to campaign rallies, let's be fair. can't beat your opponent? can't win? order him to stop holding all rallies. >> the trump pen's campaign will continue to hold rallies given the fact that all of these doctors,
7:07 pm
the medical doctors say avoid large crowds. >> laura: they're not really doing what they're telling older people to do he's not willing to cancel his various rallies suggest that he is willing to place even his most ardent supporters at risk. >> that's what he's doing. >> laura: both sanders and biden canceled their own election night rallies tonight, and supposedly with out of concern for public health and safety. really? was it just to save lives or save face? the socialists was over even before tonight, so why force yourself to address this embarrassment the same night? speaking of embarrassment, joe needs to stay away from the microphone and perhaps take a nap. beyond this partisan bickering and fearmongering, and i was the time for america to stand united. preparation, not panic is the
7:08 pm
key to coping with this virus. if changes have to happen to our response, they have to be made. they have to be made quickly. we all know by now that many of the cdc's early coronavirus tests were faulty, that was no doubt, very problematic. if president trump acted fast, they cut through the fda's red tape. millions of tests will be available, even democratic governors who have said some really nasty things about trump are now lauding his administration's response. >> we had a very long conversation, and everything he said they followed through on. >> i believe the agencies of the federal government are being very diligent at helping our state. >> laura: in times of crisis, it helps to have a president who makes his own decisions, who marshals the right resources, and surrounds himself with the most confident people to do the job. he doesn't give into the bureaucracy, he bends it to be more nimble. he pushes obstacles out of the
7:09 pm
way and solves problem. yes a take charge, hands-on approach to the coronavirus and every other problem he faces. he will work with democrats on a legislative package to help working families. he will do for our emergency response system what he's done for an economy, make it stronger and better. that's the angle. joining me now jerry kudlow, director of the economic council, he said today during the task force briefing that they need executive authority apart from what the coronavirus has the ability to do to make things happen. >> easy to say what he said in the oval office in the meeting we had. he intends to use full power of the federal government, the full power of the federal government to deal with the challenges, the health challenges or economic challenges of the coronavirus. he's going to be bold, as he said he's cutting through red
7:10 pm
tape, we are getting things in order, some temporarily all being dealt with. he's unveiled a massive economic program to see if we need any help in the next few months to deal with these challenges. let me state this, because of its policies, which you noted, these cut taxes, their deregulated. >> laura: what would've happened if we had a faltering economy question mike >> that's a key point going into this challenge it's a very strong economy. over 350,000, that remains at record high. the atlanta fetid gdp now is 3.1 -- >> laura: it don't turn this into cs nbc or -- 's pico it's fundamentally sound. you get injured, then you're
7:11 pm
strong, then you can actually recover. >> there are challenges ahead, so he has unveiled, first of all, a payroll tax holiday which makes until the end of the year. that is a middle-class blue-collar, tax cut. that will take care of -- >> laura: we got republican senators, we've got larry kramer, and other republican senators who are throwing out caution flags, watch. >> frankly a short-term taxes or payroll reduction sounds more like a safety net than the stimulus package, quite on list b good management of the coronavirus. >> laura: you're not only can have democrats saying no to a payroll, tax cut or reelection bid by trump, you have republicans who now claim to care about the deficit. they didn't care about the
7:12 pm
deficit when they're shoveling money to the pentagon. >> we should be worried about economic growth, what we want to do is keep the economy as sound as it is, it's been a blue-collar boom, and we like to keep it that way. hence the payroll tax holiday. we are up at the senate today for the luncheon with the president, the vice president, and a bunch of us, we will be negotiating with the leaders in both houses, but i don't think anything wrong with this. again, you talk about things like unpaid leave -- we have a bunch of targeted assistance payments. unpaid leave from sickness, that's one on our list. joan was small businesses that may be faulting, that is on our list. dealing with the distressed sectors, we are worried about airlines, energy, that is all on the list. >> laura: that's an enormous amount of money in the last three or four years. they complain there's more seats on planes, is a bailout of the airline really needs to happen?
7:13 pm
>> i'm not talking about bailouts, this is a balanced package, most of which will go to the workers, as i said. that's the beauty of the payroll tax holiday. >> laura: was the big complaint from republicans? >> i think they're looking at it, i'm not giving up on this. i think a lot of people supported it. it was very well received. there are some issues, we will go through the issues, we will look at the financing, we will look at the length of the payroll tax holiday, but again, we -- if you are sick at home, and you are not getting paid, we are going to help you. that's very important. another middle-class assistance, if you have a small business, we have ways through fema, through sba and other federal agencies, we don't need ledge station, we will help you. if you're in a distressed area, not a bailout, but at the margin, for example treasury secretary said it may be some tax deferrals, temporary tax deferrals will help out.
7:14 pm
so the president is really being bold here to make sure that his strong economy remains a strong economy. >> laura: he hasn't cut a deal and gone around the republicans, would he do that question mike you're not as populist as i am, but the president is and i am too, how about take the populist appeal to the workers, work with the democrats on that, senator brown, i like him, but he seems very adamantly opposed to the table taxpayer >> this is an early stage, it was unveiled yesterday, he did it again today, we will be negotiating, we are going to talk to the leadership of both houses, that's the way to play this ga game. >> laura: chuck schumer never let a crisis go to waste. >> speaker pelosi and i will release proposals that congress must take. we need widespread and free coronavirus testing, we need paid sick leave and emergency unemployment insurance.
7:15 pm
we must expand's nap and wake at school lunch and other initiatives we want to make sure that small businesses can continue, there should be loans and even grants. >> laura: is that -- >> some of that stuff we agree with. >> laura: all workers will get released at every level of the economic at -- >> we will have a look at it. you can tell through the numbers, we will have a look at all of the stuff. we will have a look of the small businesses, we will have a look at some of the distressed -- the travel industry is in a huge problem right now. we know that. of >> laura: but what about the satellite grosses? i don't really like him, i don't like cruises indicating that a lot of people should stay home. do people really need to stay home when they're not in one of these hot spots like new rochelle or right in the midst of the outbreak in washington state? stay at home?
7:16 pm
>> i'm not a health expert, but what i hear from him -- >> laura: it that's panic, it's hurting the market. >> to some extent you have to listen to what he sang. if you're seated are so distant , you better watch out. if you are not healthy, if you have pre-existing conditions, you better watch out. if you are healthy, and younger, you don't have much to worry about. >> laura: but you can implicitly shouldn't fly. at that is a killer for the airline industry. at that in and of itself is a killer. >> the cruiseship story, with all due respect, we worry about the cruise businesses, may be the optimal time if you're an older person and you have health insurance. i think that's very common sentence. mike pence is running the task force, he is doing a terrific job, and to this too, going back to the president's statement, he wants to use all
7:17 pm
of the federal powers available. >> laura: what about the federal reserve? that's an intended agency, shouldn't the -- they're always putting catch up. >> they brought that race down, probably bring it down some more, more important than that they are pumping liquidity into the banking system. >> laura: their printing money for everyone. >> sometimes you have to print money because there's a big demand for dollars. incidentally, this payroll tax cut, this payroll tax holiday -- >> laura: that say are not a stimulus -- >> i think it takes pressure off of middle income people. >> not if they're not working. >> most of them are going to be working, we will take care of the ones who are home and sick and may not be covered. we have agreements with the democrats, and we are going to have disagreements. >> laura: they are going to have to cut a deal with you. they have to be the people to
7:18 pm
block the pathway to stabilizing this economy. that's a disaster for any republican or democrat to be in that position. >> there is always hope for bipartisanship in this. there's always hope. you talked about how fast of the president was moving, on the original travel restrictions, you're right. you're exactly right. he's moving very fast, he's way ahead of the curve on this economic -- >> and i'm pushing it. >> if they want to pick away at us, and that's too bad, because this will do us some good. it's better than just giving everybody a rebate, why note you keep your own money? that's what tax cuts do, you keep your own money. this is middle-class stuff, this is exactly what we are aiming at, we've seen this succeed. >> laura: we've proved that we need to pull back more manufacturing from china. >> i'd love to work the incentive model. let me give them, let's give
7:19 pm
them a ride -- >> laura: he's always had a soft spot on the chinese. >> if you want to shift supply chains, which we do, bring it back home to america. you got to be clever about it though. give them a hundred percent depreciation. those are sump sensible things. it's been on antibiotics made in china, that's not what we want. >> let's make it easy for them to come back home. you wake up in a couple of months when this thing is come down and we are in the middle of an export boom from china and other trade deals, and the blue-collar boom continues, that's what president trump is trying to do, he is very bold. bold is good. >> laura: larry, good to see you, glad you are on the task force. up ahead, leave it to the media to ramp up the alarm when the nation needs calm. they are using the coronavirus to call in the question the president's health. if carlos start rio

>> laura: americans can get the coronavirus from just going outside. at the liberal media are now trying just park panic over the president's health. >> why not get tested yourself after you interact with them last week? >> laura: no symptoms, the president has none. well, that's not good enough for the experts at cnn. >> when i hear some of the americans once these tests, there is this testing, that's a
7:25 pm
big problem. but when they hear the president of the united states saying i don't think it's a big deal, is that the right message? >> laura: you mean the message that the president is healthy? i think that's what they want to hear. and that's what experts are telling him to stay. >> she said that at her hospital, even if you been possibly exposed, and even if you just got off the plane from italy, if you don't have symptoms, they don't want to test you. even if you might have been exposed, what he saying actually jives with what doctors are telling me. >> laura: that's owl thing when you're in a court room, never ask a witness a question you don't know the answer to. remember, trump, they say it's a real science denier. but cnn gave this narrative one last shot.
7:26 pm
>> your thoughts, should he get tested? >> i agree with the president, if he has no symptoms, there's no reason to test him, without symptoms, i don't think people need to be tested. if they say you're fine, you don't have any symptoms, i agree with the white house doctor. >> laura: let's go for a third time, joining me now is the doctor you just heard aforementioned carlos del rio, professor of medicine of the great emory university. fox news medical correspondent. dr. del rio, what are your message to abel where pushing this narrative that it's the responsibility of him not to rush out to be tested. you've been hearing this in the american media. >> whether you happen to be the president of the united states or not, if you don't have
7:27 pm
symptoms, and there is no indication from a medical physician that you need to be tested, you should not be tested. we know this from level tests, and this is no different than other test. if you test people that have a low likelihood of disease, a positive test will be a false positive. we don't like to test people that have a low likelihood of a disease. in the case of the president, he had not a direct exposure, and no symptoms, no reason to test them. >> laura: at dr. siegel, we've seen this with the cpac attendee who tested positive after the conference for the coronavirus, he shook hands, then they shook hands, the head of the cpac came on the show, i shook his hand, i hoped his wife. i guess by this log check, i should be tested for the coronavirus. my throat has nothing to do with the coronavirus, it's of laryngitis. >> you forgot i was in nebraska
7:28 pm
meeting with the nurses and doctors who have taken care of patients, i didn't get tested. >> laura: again, it's a multilevel, irresponsibility on the part of all of us, i guess. but this just leads a lot of people to go into deep panic. at this point in time, we have cornered the market on panic, we need calm and preparedness. >> for sure, we have concern about the spires, but we keep jumping to the worst-case scenario scenario, envisioning the worst, that's what destabilizing the market. that's what's giving everyone sequestered in their homes. in this particular case, the president showed the right example, he is very sober guy, he give them this first lesson here. listen to your doctor, doctor said don't get tested. he didn't have direct contact with someone with coronavirus, he had contact with someone who shook the hand and had a photo op with someone who had coronavirus. so how many times do you lose
7:29 pm
this guy? if he had gotten tested, he would've been sending a message to the united states, if you're walking down the street and you hear that someone in that hospital has coronavirus, we adopted circuit of people who are convinced they have it. >> laura: dr. del rio, tonight is a big election and night for the democrats. biden sweeps to victory in all of these primary races. both candidates have canceled their big events, biden is addressing only his closest supporters in pennsylvania tonight, but bernie sanders is not only not speaking to thousands as he had planned to do, he's not appearing in public, apparently out of concern for the coronavirus. does this make sense in one of the hot zones or containment zones, such as new rochelle or may be in washington state?
7:30 pm
>> part of the problem we have is unfortunately, as we know, we are way behind testing in this country. as we ramp up testing in the country, we are probably going to find a lot of people who are infected that we don't know about. at this point in time, until we have further data, we need to assume that there's a lot more communities that we are regular of that have transmissions of virus. one of the most effective strategies to control the transmission of the virus like this one is what we call social distancing. it is prudent to have a social distancing, i think it's appropriate that in many of our communities we try not to bring a lot of a lot of people together up until we have better data. once we have better data, i think we can make better decisions. >> laura: all right, go ahead. >> while i agree about his principles here in the medicine of this, i would not come to the same conclusion. the paranoia again, we are going to assume every arena we have has coronavirus in it? it's just not -- we don't have the sense that there is that
7:31 pm
much coronavirus here yet. there's definitely more than we know about, he's right about that, but we don't need this fear of going outdoors. it's a gore phobia, they have a diagnosis for that. get the testing done. i went to a game last week, there is no one there. of the necks or table, that might be the reason >> laura: the ncaa men's basketball tournament, we all have our pool -- we are not supposed to have a pool. we have a fake pool here at fox. if we don't want anyone to be in danger. they've already canceled the half marathon in new york, their canceling conferences, it is doing huge harm to the travel and entertainment industry, and i think that in and of itself is sending people into some panic, so they are going to buy water, fighting over toilet paper, thick stomach that can be good either
7:32 pm
>> in fact, i agree with you, i don't think we need to spread panic, i was talking to somebody today, i was saying the biggest wrist you have may be of going to a big arena today, or going to a tournament may be drinking too much beer and falling and hitting your head to, and for that reason we are not canceling those tournaments. we need better information, we need more data, and we need to look at the data carefully, but i couldn't agree with you in the doctor anymore. we need people to be prepared, but at the same time, we don't need to spread panic. >> laura: we got the testing finally set. it millions of tests will be produced in the coming days and weeks. it right to have both of you on, extremely reassuring and informative, thanks so much. up ahead, the less everything is racist is now giving china covered two petal lies about the coronavirus. plus they explain what

7:41 pm
more cases are going to show, but i think a lot of it is going to show that people are still spreading the virus and it's a static situation more than a dynamic situation. it's six weeks from the travel ban, you look at the origin it's china. china let people come into this country knowingly that they may be exposing americans. >> laura: 100% right, steve, might i add that bloomberg and other media outlets saying look at the number of infected people every day is lower and lower because of china's great handling of this virus. so now they've created the x, and we are supposed to log their handling of it, are you kidding me? quick reaction from both of you real quick. >> they are celebrating the success of the chinese communist party, they are submitting their

7:44 pm
we reach a stage in life when ultimately we return to the peevish and a scum of the arrest ability of childhood, and biden is showing all of those sympto symptoms. >> laura: this is what biden used to sound like when he talks about guns. it just not too long ago. >> if you want to protect yourself, get a double barrel shotgun, have the shelves at 12-gauge shotgun, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put that double barrel shotgun, and fire two blasts outside of the house. >> laura: is giving us somehow to there, ignoring the point. biden is always been like this. if there is no change in him at all. biden used to be savvy, quick, look at the way he debated in
