as 68 beds including ten that will have a icu capability. i'm going to step out of frame and let you take a closer look at the hospital tents. there will be a total of 14 when it is completed. construction began on sunday, and by tomorrow morning it will be up and running. the state brought together a charity called samaritan's purse to make this a field hospital reality and i talked to the doctor in charge respecting social distancing and he said he never imagined coming here to help during a medical emergency. >> i never thought i would be in central park doing this. we've done this in war zones, earthquakes and hurricanes but this is a very improbable location. we are blessed to be here and happy to work alongside new york to help take care of the people. >> another new york city hospitals preparing for the worst, lenox hill hospital in greenwich village side a

refrigeration truck is outside of the hospital to serve as a temporary morgue. andrew cuomo said that cases are doubling every six days and that is when the virus is slowing as it builds towards its apex. there are now more than 66,000 people infected statewide and the death toll stands at more than 1200. most of those afflicted are right here in new york city. lastly, new york city mayor bill de blasio is saying that the city now has enough ppe on hand but he says in order to stretch it they are having medical workers as much as can be safely done reuse that ppe. he says the supplies are dwindling and as soon next sunday, bill, the supplies could run out. >> bill: david lee, thank you. president trump extending social distancing guidelines at least until the end of april. he says he expects great things to happen on june 1st.

need them. several days later, we will be out of beds. the one that is the louisiana governor warning that hospitals in new orleans could run out of ventilators by the weekend. the lieutenant governor, you are in baton rouge, what's happening in your state that america needs to know? >> well the ventilators is a crucial issue and that something you can't order once the patient needs it. the good news is this morning on the conference call with the president and vice president, the president assured governor john bell that we would be getting additional ventilators to louisiana. they are desperately needed. you can see we had 485 new cases yesterday and another 34 deaths in louisiana. the numbers continue to ramp up and it's a critical situation here in louisiana. >> bill: what have you done on

the state parks that could help? >> we have shut down and sent everyone home from the state parks. we left them open so the locals can go and walk in them, but this last weekend it looked like a fourth of july with people from texas on that waterway. so which of those parks down and got wildlife and fisheries to go out there. people are not heating the warning and there were large crowds all over that lake in toledo bend this past weekend. you've seen the news about the church that helped service in baton rouge, this is serious. unless everybody plays by the rules we will never get over this and see light at the end of the tunnel. >> bill: how is that possible when there is a stay-at-home order in place until mid-april? >> that's a great question. there was a second line in new orleans the other day. people are just not taking this serious and they need to. i don't understand it. we've been through katrina, the

meanwhile, defense officials say the u.s. army is helping in the race to find a vaccine for covid-19. jennifer griffin has the story from the pentagon now. >> we were taken behind the scenes by army secretary ryan mccarthy. lee's army researchers came up with vaccines for anthrax, the plague and ebola and now they are working double shifts growing large amounts of the covid-19 virus at the sprawling lab complex at fort dietrich in maryland. they can shoot 300 different compounds at one time, some of them known drugs like chloroquine into the virus and see how it reacts. >> they put the virus on to the cells, and they count the killed portions. >> we can test about 300 drugs or compounds in each plate. each plate has cells in it and we use the compounds using these robotic systems and then we
