time to call the people you love, check in with them. have a healthy and happy evening. sean hannity is standing by in new york city to take over the next hour. he will do that now. >> sean: great advice, hold those we love. national emergency, national pandemic, invisible enemy. great point, thanks, tucker, good show. as always, welcome to hannity. we start with straight news, the good, the bad, the scary, the ugly things that you and your family need to know. what is happening in washington, information medically that could protect you and your family. a ton of information out there today. we call facts without fear, we begin once again with an important message from the president as he gave his coronavirus his coronavirus task force opening statement today. >> as i said yesterday, difficult days are ahead for our nation. we are going to have a couple of weeks, starting pretty much now, but especially a few days from now that are going to be horrific. but even in the most challenging of times, americans do not
10:01 pm
despair. we do not give in to fear. we pulled together, we persevere and we overcome and we win. our most powerful asset, our greatest weapon in this effort is the spirit of our people. and we want to keep away -- keep a distance, keep away. if you don't get it, it solves a lot of problems. >> sean: we are watching and witnessing a president without fear. here's what we learn from today's press conference and around the country. 11 u.s. companies have now shifted production to make ventilators. the president is looking to build two additional hospital ships. the federal government just placed another massive order in for masks and gowns and other personal protective gear for those nurses, doctors, medical professionals on the front lines of all of this. 17,000 members of the national guard i know activated in helping get medical supplies and equipment to those hospitals most in need and keep in mind this is going to be a critical task as america's major
10:02 pm
industries are gearing up production like nothing we have seen or witnessed since world war ii. watch. >> we are soon going to have more ventilators than we need. we are building thousands of ventilators right now. it takes a period of time to build them and again, nobody could have known a thing like this could happen. we're building thousands. we will fairly soon be at a point where we have far more than we can use, even after we stockpile for some future catastrophe, which we hope doesn't happen. you're going to be disturbing them, the extras around the world. we do have access of certain things and we don't have enough of others. i just had a great talk today with doug mcmillan from walmart and i gave him a very, very big order for gallons, for protective gear for the doctors, for the nurses. >> sean: there are facts that should concern every american. as the president of the next two or three weeks it will be ugly, it will be scary.
10:03 pm
there is going to be a massive increase with the testing which will result in more people that have contracted the virus and then of course we will lose people. we don't want to lose anybody, that's the goal here. this massive mobilization is so important because of this potential devastation. yesterday we were afforded the alarming number. the white house now believes 100,000-240,000 americans could die from this. if we didn't put in place mitigation efforts, travel ban, the quarantine, it could have been as high, we now are being told, by the task force, as over 2 million. even in the epicenter where we are in new york, hospitals have yet to see the peak of this disease when it is expected to be around the end of april. it's going to move to other geographical areas in the country. we are beginning to see hot spots, looking up florida closely, we will talk to the governor. georgia, tennessee, michigan and other cities, louisiana. we are watching all of these very, very closely. these are serious times but
10:04 pm
there is, tonight, facts without fear, we do a lot of reasons to be positive. that brings us to our facts without fear or hope. cautious optimism is now emerging from the medical community and according to a brand-new study out of china, the malaria drug with been telling about, hydroxychloroquine could potentially hold a key for effective coronavirus treatment. according to the study, 81% of patients showed signs of improvement after taking the drug. now, dr. oz has a big development on this front, he will join us later in the show and tonight, more facts with help from businesses all across the country. they are stepping up in a major way. look at this, honeywell no rapidly converting an aerospace factory in phoenix to mass-produce more and 95 masks the company is now expected to generate 20 million masks each month right here in the united states as needed and get this, disney, they announced that they have donated 100,095 masks to new york and
10:05 pm
california -- we do have a parks in california and florida have been closed for weeks. we ned to thank disney at all of these great american companies for stepping up. and today governor ron desantis, he issued a statewide stay-at-home order. he believes that the coronavirus started spreading in his state during super bowl weekend in february. he's here now to give us an update. let's go through specifically here what it is, what this order means for the average floridian. obviously you can go to the drugstore. you can go pick up groceries. tell us what you can and can't do. >> yeah. hi, sean. southern florida is about 60% of our cases. they have been under these measures for a couple of weeks. we expanded it statewide when the president extent of the guidance to 30 days. we said, look, the country is paused. we've got to defeat this, so i felt it was prudent to extend it statewide. we don't have it running rampant
10:06 pm
in corner of florida so i thought it was the prudent thing to do at this juncture. you can do essential activities, beyond that we are asking people to stay close to home and try to avoid social contact with other people. that's really how the virus spreads, through close contact outside. obviously in a household that can spread but if you stay in the household and it's not going to get out of the broader public. so that's what we are looking to do and we have a really strong message, and taking strong measures to protect our seniors immediately when this crisis started, we went in and locked down nursing homes, will issued strong regulations, said all the workers n95 masks and we've asked seniors from the very beginning to stay-at-home as long as they can and then if you have a significant underlying medical condition to do the same. that is, we are finding, sean, with this, the lower ages in terms of the infection, the better the overall outcomes, the
10:07 pm
more it starts to skew older, that's when you get more hospitalizations and unfortunately that's where you get more fatalities. >> sean: all right. the super bowl -- i was down there for the super bowl. i interviewed the president for the super bowl. that was two months ago. why are you just suspecting now that that might have been a point where a lot of people may have been infected? >> well, so, you know, you are a there wasn't a lot of testing being done february so we started ramping up testing probably the second week of march. we've now done over 70,000 tests i think in a state of florida. we hope to hit 100,000 next week. that will be one for every 200 floridians, which is about what south korea did and they were lauded for their testing, so i think when you look at this, we are seeing increases in cases in florida, but we are seeing huge increases in testing as well. i don't think it was that there just weren't cases on february 28th.
10:08 pm
i think the testing wasn't where it was. so i do think it was there -- i think that you had -- >> sean: i'm not interrupting, i just want to get a couple other points in. you do have mandatory quarantine for people coming from other states. you have some checkpoints here. you've also taken a lot of hits for spring break. do you want to comment on all three of those? >> while the spring breakers were here, sean, at that time the cdc guidance was you could have groups of 250 people. showing the things for the one-day clearwater, that was the guidance. when it changed to 10, i banned all groups of ten or more, beaches or otherwise. so that was what we did. those folks were just here. if i could have snapped my fingers and have them go back, i would have. but i can tell you in terms of how this has spread in florida, we think it's floridians who traveled internationally and brought it back, international travelers who came to florida and then people from new york
10:09 pm
who have, and then floridians who have gone to new york city and brought it back. those are the main ways where this thing really took root in florida. >> sean: you are saying still self-quarantining your checking people when they come in, the temperature is being taken, real quick. >> yeah, if you're from a hot spot, new york city area, new orleans we ask that you self isolate for 14 days, we just want everyone to be safe. >> sean: governor, all our best to our fellow americans in florida, especially our friends at the villages, because the older people, they are a little more vulnerable. america's friendliest hometown, not so friendly right now, but we will overcome all of this and our best to everyone in the state, thank you, governor. as the nationwide response to the coronavirus massively impacts businesses, american workers all over the country, we have a lot of ugly. some lawmakers, they're pushing for a fourth coronavirus relief bill and pelosi pushing for an infrastructure package. we already spent $2.2 trillion. we now are talking about another $2 trillion.
10:10 pm
we have 4 trillion in federal loan guarantees. these are astronomical. we saw what the democrats try to pull. the made hospital workers wait. they were desperately in need of that money. they made the american working population wait over a week. made large and small businesses wait and also they can fund the national endowment of the arts and humanities and the kennedy center for the arts. disgraceful. anyway, what is the long-term impact for the economy though, for your pocketbook. here with the very latest details, the host of "mornings with maria" and "sunday morning futures," maria bartiromo is back with us. these are trillions now. 2.2 trillion, 4 trillion loan guarantees with the fed. then we've got another 2 trillion in infrastructure. these are uncharted waters, maria. unprecedented. and i don't really think anybody can give us real accurate predictions as to how that's going to happen.
10:11 pm
why not wait and see how the first 2.2 trillion works out? >> well, that's exactly right. i agree with you. you're right about the inability to give us any real clarity right now because we have to see really more about the duration of this virus and then get the impact before we can actually have clarity on when the economy is going to come back but i think you make a really important point. here we are putting what has amounted to, sean, 25% of the gdp. when you actually look at all of the stimulus, whether it's fiscal stimulus from the government or when you're talking with the federal reserve, 25% of gdp. we are throwing a lot at this. we should be, because right now you are seeing a sharp contraction in the economy, the second quarter began today. we are expecting the second quarter to show a contraction of up to 20%. sean, the question is are we going to see a contraction in the third quarter, which of course will be officially a recession, or will we start seeing some stabilization in the
10:12 pm
third quarter? one issue i would point out is we are doing these rolling lockdowns, so some parts of the country locked down, parts not so much right now. because of that there are risks later in the air that we will see slow down, but i think you're going to see a big rebound, sean, in the fourth quarter, big time. >> sean: is the thinking -- this is not my wheelhouse, that's why we are glad you can join us. if you talk to all these top executives on wall street, so there watching this. wall street is always skittish. that goes with the territory -- but what are they thinking? are they thinking the more money at this point means a quicker recovery, is that what they're suggesting? and do we know the long-term impact is on the economy and will it work in a short-term? >> first off, there watching the weekly jobless claims. jobless claims of 281,000. this past thursday, 3.2 million. we saw that number shoot up, meaning employees are in fact filing for unemployment
10:13 pm
benefits, so you got corporations knowing that they've either got to furlough employees, they've got to keep paying some employees even though they're home, they are not selling any product, everything is closed down, that means 0% earnings growth and that means continued weakness until we get some clarity. i think major managers today of businesses and managers of a lot of employees are thinking there will be a rebound later on in the year but at this point we've got to deal with what is coming at us, and that is going to mean saving money, cutting costs in any way possible, because they have no ability to get any revenue because their businesses are closed down, so we are in a holding pattern right now. >> sean: one thing all the american people agree on, through no fault of their own americans lost their job, through no fault of their own as businesses have been shut down completely. small business, large business in the american people, we bailed out europe, would be communism, fascism, and radical islam.
10:14 pm
we're going to rebuild europe, we will make the american people hold, we got to do it in the right way. we can't let those idiots in washington waste that moniker to maria, thank you, we appreciate it. >> thank you. >> sean: tonight americans all across the country going to great lengths to save lives and stop the spread of the virus. a lot of heroes here, doctors, nurses, health care professionals. our military, our national guard all working around the clock. our police officers, firemen, our first responders, our emt guys. emergency rooms putting their own lives at risk. truck drivers are spending long hours on the road to ensure that our supply lines are up and they are running. farmers, grocery store employees, factory workers, restaurant delivery drivers, uber drivers, so many americans, they're doing whatever it takes to keep this country going. during a national emergency, it's inspiring to see the best in people and still so many other americans are now at home unable to work because of the shutdown. difficult times, we will prevail.
10:15 pm
you've got to remember that. america's best days, they are definitely ahead, we will get past this. sadly, you won't likely find any hopeful message among the deranged individuals that are known -- i call them the media mob. why? because they are too busy doing what they always do, looking for ways, oh, to bludgeon president trump. one far left media mob maniac over at "the new york times" to attack her least favorite. and yours truly. accusing fox news of putting her mother and the elderly people at risk. now, if she actually watched our coverage and cared about truth, actually she should put a correction in her newspaper. we would know that we reported without fear from the very beginning -- we have our own little timeline on hannity.com. in order to help the media mob out we put it all together for them so they can't plead ignorance. when i think about suing them.
10:16 pm
including interview with dr. anthony fauci on january 27th. that was only -- let's see, six days after the first confirmed case of the united states. warning repeatedly at that time about this potential virus, the fact the people that were asymptomatic for a long period of time seemed to be very contagious and it might have been airborne. talking about all of that very early and we praise to the president travel ban and by the way, a major, unprecedented action. that one decision that the president made, we can now pretty confidently say prevented tens of thousands of americans from likely getting that virus and many others dying. how did the "the new york times" how do they cover the virus? look at their headline. february 5th. that was six days after the travel ban and, what, 12 days after we had dr. fauci on. is it safe to travel to china? excuse me, i want to go back a little bit, i can't even see it. because what they said is -- i can't see the headline.
10:17 pm
got to read the headline. says it's not safe to travel to china, the coronavirus travel ban is unjust. really? i wonder if that writer's mop that loves to attack fox and little old me -- so you're proud of your newspaper giving that kind of advice to your mom and to every other american? february 26, her same newspaper, "new york times," they continue politicizing the disease. remember this headline, trump virus, if you are feeling awful, you know who to blame. for weeks, instead of continuously reporting back, "new york times," others, using coronavirus as a political weapon. attack donald trump at all costs. you got this idiot over "the washington post," eric wemple is his name. "washington post," poor guy, he can't even get in the printed edition. can't even get 100,000 twitter followers. poor eric. anyway, wants me fired. telling "the washington post," his paper, telling readers that we should be wary of an aggressive government response for the coronavirus.
10:18 pm
are you proud of that to and even worse, fake news cnn accusing the president of racism, last weekend msdnc, the conspiracy channel, they floated a new conspiracy that trump would use the virus to become a monarch and now neither network -- now notice they are not airing the president's coronavirus task force briefings in full. and by the way, eric the pimple, he jumped for joy writing cnn and msnbc, dnc refused to carry the full term coronavirus briefing. so we have media networks in this country, it's a national emergency. he is giving out vital information to the american people to help save lives and mitigate the spread of disease and they playing politics? they are limiting coverage? and i should get fired or sued? i don't think so. we are proud of the work that we have done.
10:19 pm
we have full coverage on hannity.com if you want to look at it. information, crisis, as i've been saying to you, in america exists. what they're doing is repulsive, it is ugly, it hurts the country. shouldn't surprise us because they have hated trump every second, minute, hour, every 24-hour day for over three years. they represent the media wing of the democratic party, nothing more, nothing less, they are playing politics. they don't care about getting facts and information to you, the american people. clearly just caring up about going after donald trump. they are now faced with the difficult challenge. propping up the confused, confounded joe biden -- the same way the president enacted his travel ban. joe called the president's actions xenophobic. he's a fearmongering. and by the way, biden was far from the only democrat politicizing and downplaying covid-19. they were attacking the president ten days after the first known case in america.

those are both statistically significant. and there were other potential reasons why that might have happened and we have clues up from the french data. for example, maybe they're having less virus. maybe make the most contagious, we don't know for sure but these are interesting potential tools for us to use in the future. but here's the part that caught me. in china they do ct scans of the chest, they look for pneumonia. all these patients had pneumonia and over the course of the five days, and the people in the control, the pneumonia was made 55% of the time, but it was made better 81% of the time and the people taking the medication. that is a statistically significant benefit as well and finally one last thing, four patients have bad outcomes. all four were in the controller, none of the patients in the experimental mental group who we know is also used for rheumatoid arthritis. we know it's also been around for 45 years.
10:44 pm
now, in countries that have high incidence of malaria, are we seeing the kinds of covid-19 breakouts -- number one. number two, how quickly could we look at the data of people that have been using hydroxychloroquine for rheumatoid arthritis or lupus or maybe they were traveling as an antimalarial drug, and determine whether they are less prone to get this -- in other words, that it would almost have prophylactic effects. >> i don't know the answer to the first question because our data is not so good from those areas but the answer to the second question is very interesting. brian kilmeade posed that question to me this morning and just like the chinese researchers noticed in the hospital, we could do a massive search of the entire medicare database or the medicaid database that i wrote an email -- very talented admeasure asking if she would do that. don't identify the patient keep the patient name secrets, just compare people who
10:45 pm
purchased for their medical condition hydroxychloroquine and compared to people who didn't have that. maybe there's a difference that we can identify between who get covid-19 that might be additional support information. right now physicians are desperately looking for tools they can use, especially early in the course of the illness. is it possible that because these patients were already on it don't get sick? we could use it prophylactically in doctors and nurses. we started a trial at mare presbyterian, it's an interesting concept. but also think about the idea to be able to treat patients early after diagnosis and prevent a worsening of, thus keeping our e.r.s empty et cetera. this will only be proven with a larger title though my trial but this is tantalizing bait. >> sean: i want to just say this, for every doctor, every nurse. my mother wanted me to be a doctor. i messed up, i really did. my sisters are all nurses. but on the front lines every day, every medical professional, people like yourself, every doctor i know, every doctor in the hospital, they all deserve our praise tonight and i know you're working 24/7 on this because i talked to late into
10:46 pm
the night, you are not sleeping, neither am i. i may have to talk to about that. there may be some kind of off label medicine for that one day. thank you for all you're doing. and for everybody in the medical field. when we come back, wow, joe biden's blunder-filled interviews, it's a never ending -- i mean, it's a reel -- highlight reel. will the democrats try to dump him from the ticket? would there be a way for them to do that? karl rove on the whiteboard ne next.

every day, take a look. >> and in order to avoid those very high numbers, we have to do at least several things, one, we have to depend on what the president is going to do right now and first of all, he has to tell -- wait until the cases -- before anything happens -- well, the whole idea is he's got to get in place things that we are shortages of. i did an assist. i suggested that we should have people in china at the outset of this event and when it all started in luhan province. >> sean: any of you understand that? here with reaction, plus estate, democrats keep hearing the chatter, the chitter chatter. they're going to dump biden for new york governor andrew cuomo. wait until i tell america about his record. former white house deputy chief of staff karl rove. karl, good to see you. i guess if joe biden says i'm
10:52 pm
out than they are going to bypass bernie and go to cuomo? new york hyper, super liberal that lets out criminals and has a sanctuary state, the whole bit? >> no, no. look, the only way -- the democratic nominee is not going to be joe biden's if there's a catastrophe involving biden. and even then they are unlikely to turn to somebody outside the crew that has run for the nomination. so look. cuomo was very sharp and very clear and precise with his brother, no way in heck is he going to be -- run for president or want to be considered for president. i thought he was very clear on that and this is a fantasy and the flirtation that people have with replacing joe biden with andrew cuomo is indicative of a bigger problem that the democrats have. you saw it in the abc "washington post" poll. it came out on march 25th. it showed biden in the lead 49-47,
10:53 pm
down from a month earlier where he led 52-45. but the interesting thing is this. of the biden supporters, only 24% say they are very enthusiastic about their choice. that means that about 12% of the electorate is very enthusiastic about biden. supporters, 53% say say they are very enthused. that's about 26% of the electorate. so better than by margin of 2:1, the electorate is more enthusiastic about trump than it is about biden. that's a real problem if you're a democrat. >> sean: i think every democrat needs to answer the question. did donald trump do the right thing with the travel ban. i think the democrats in washington will have to answer. was it atrocious what they did holding up funding for hospitals and workers in small and big businesses so they could fund the kennedy center and the national endowment for the arts? do they now support open borders and sanctuary cities and free health care for illegal immigrants? these are now front and center. >> yeah. and you talked about the relief bill. i mean, really, do you think
10:54 pm
same-day voter registration was a critical element in fighting the coronavirus? do think that $100 million for national public radio was critical? they wanted $35 million for the kennedy center. they ultimately give them 25, and you know the kennedy center proceeded to do? fire every member of the national symphony orchestra -- and say we can't afford to pay you. it was meant to keep them aboard. >> sean: fighting for that garbage, they basically took their middle finger and shoved it in the face of every american worker, every small and big business and every hospital worker that needed that money and they delayed it for over a week. karl, thank you. when we come back, we can sing this pandemic is bringing out the best, the worst in some people, you won't believe what a top new york hospital executive said about trump supporters. trace gallagher, next. doctor bob, what should i take for back pain? before you take anything, i recommend applying topical relievers first. salonpas lidocaine patch blocks pain receptors

>> sean: so many villains to choose from, sadly in the midst of a national emergency, but there are two hospital executives hoping that donald trump supporters get infected with coronavirus. such nice people. trace gallagher has that report. >> this was a facebook back and forth between two hospital executives in the buffalo area. it began when one of them posted an article about president trump being hesitant to pay general motors to make ventilators. one executive wrote, quoting here, "trump supporters need to pledge to give up their ventilators for someone else and not go to the hospital." any other one responded, quoting, "i think they should be the only ones in packed churches on sunday." not only did they go on, got a bit more aggressive. saying they should barricade themselves in there, meaning the churches, and ride this out and continued by saying this, "also don't cash your check, it's all a hoax. chew some ibuprofen and beyond with her day." one of the woman was placed on leave and fired. the other one is under pending review. it's gotten very little pickup
