trump is very ambitious in everything he does. i heard -- you wants things done and done quickly to preserve the health and wellness of the american people and people around the world. it used to take 5 to 10 years to create a vaccine to fight a virus. now our timeline has been compressed greatly, hopefully within 12 to 18 months from starting the race to create a vaccine we will have one. there were at last count 70 companies working on vaccines around the world. the company that seems to be in the lead is out of china. it will take a lot to convince americans to take a chinese vaccination. the good news is there are a couple companies in the united states creating vaccines. my job as a physician is to know the risks and benefits of those vaccinations, making sure they
2:23 am
are safe, that they work and that they provide long-lasting immunity to this virus, and teach patients about that so they can make an informed decision whether or not they want to take the vaccination. jillian: a number of critics say the timeline is too fast, shouldn't be this fast but normally takes longer for vaccines to develop. that may be true but at the same time does the timeline really matter because if a vaccine is developed and is proven to work then that is a good thing, right? >> he is. we have proven methods to make sure something is safe and works. it will go through clinical trials, different phases before it is given to people on a large scale. those things are not going to be skipped. what is going to be cut back as
2:24 am
has happened across many industries is a lot of the regulations and ready we see with government bureaucracies will be compressed so this vaccine can be found to be safe, that it works, it can be found that it can be manufactured on a widespread basis and we can protect not only american citizens but people all around the world. jillian: the timeline will be different for every vaccine. >> he is it will. rob: it looks like it could be a lot sooner than 18 months. let's talk about your state, this plan to reopen despite the governor extending a modified stay-at-home order for two more weeks. how are they balancing the scenarios, what should people expect to be doing? >> a lot of people just like everywhere on the country, people are antsy to get back to their normal lives. me personally i wish we could be back to work already, i wish we never had to close down the amazing economy that was created under donald trump and his administration and with
