private ownership and it is important to focus on real solutions. rob: there is a lot of agenda to the protests we are seeing, 120,000 of these people signed up for this thing, 30% of people didn't pay their rent in april. i want to that you address, a lot of people think my landlord is rich, i am not, he can afford this, i can't, let him bear the burden of this because he is the rich landlord. what is your response to that mentality? >> that is the complete misunderstanding of how housing works especially in new york, the cost to produce and provide housing in major us cities is significant, there are major burdens on the costs of property taxes making up 30%, you have

water and sewer costs that are huge drivers, super costs, maintenance costs that are fixed and baked in. for our owners especially smaller is the long-term ownership model is where they make revenue. when you talk about the billy to collect rent, that reduces their ability to make sure those are well-maintained and a world based on the largest landlords in new york city and across the country which we saw in 2008 based on the largest owner of properties with such large foreclosures that could happen to multi family housing and that's not a good world for anyone, tenants and landlords alike. we need active solutions. shannon: thank you for joining us, appreciate it. 26 after the hour. california's governor reopening huntington beach after massive protests last week. rob: michael flynn soon after the shutdown.

closure and we had a hearing on friday in front of a judge requesting a temporary restraining order and the judge put the matter over to may 11th so we have a hearing on her injunction set for may 11th. it is moving quickly. rob: sound like a reopening but under the condition you prevent overcrowding on these beaches. how do you do that? it gets hot in california. how do you prevent that? >> a good question on april 30th when the governor issued that verbal directive. there was no executive order associated with that directive. his powers are not unbridled, he has to follow the rules and the constitution. he had a press conference with all that tough talk and after we filed the lawsuit he started walking it back, now he is

suggesting that we can open our beaches again but we can't do it slowly and we have to partially do it or let people go and engage in activities but not leader in the beach is closed after a certain time so it is a partial opening, really difficult to imagine if we see people on the beach to ask what they are doing? are they moving along? it is difficult and even with partial opening will be on his executive authority this is more of a local control issue where our local representatives have been managing of the pandemic and local representatives know how to manage the pandemic. >> your the modifications they're putting in place, active recreational activities, physical distancing, ocean is open to water activities, loitering, sunbathing all prohibited, they can't just lay out in the sun.

you live with your grandmother. i would imagine that takes a toll mentally on your daily routine, day in and day out of your interaction with your grandmother, what has that been like? >> i only moved in with my grandma a few months ago. moving in with her has been awesome but it comes at a time when i risk -- to avoid doing so i changed my clothes before i leave work and immediately throw my scrubs in the wash because i don't want to risk getting her sick. on days that i'm off i go grocery shopping and any errands that she needs done because she is worried to leave the house because of her age. jillian: i was reading something, you said sometimes you can't believe this is
