month on fox nation grateful patient investigative journalist lara logan is back with the new season of her hit series larra logan has no agenda entitled america's veterans. this time clara looks at the current state of affairs for those who bravely served our country. the first episode takes you behind the scenes of the humanitarian effort to save the innocent citizens caught up in the 2017 battle and i do want to warn you this clip is difficult to watch. take a look. >> that is more than we saw the carnage. some came up and we pushed down to the street and we started seeing a couple of dead bodies but we thought it was a couple of civilians and we were looking down and started to realize they said there are five dead bodies over there but then the veil was lifted and it wasn't piles of rags or clothes or luggage out in the streets but corpses. >> we saw seven kids moving along this little wall across the street and as they moved

back-and-forth they were killed one by one. very quickly there was only one candidate left. watching this happen was horrible. >> this little girl with pigtails was the only child left stranded next to the body of her dead mother and two men wounded by the mines. there were only 150 yards from her butt across the open area isis guns had a clear shot and they begged the iraqis to cover them and persuaded a u.s. commander there to drop smoke from the screen. with grenades hitting the tanks they could only a couple weapon when they had to. >> they said i will go get this little girl, cover me. abby: joining me now is lara logan, host of lara logan had no agenda only on fox nation. larra, that was a pretty powerful video.

can you tell me more about the new season america's veterans? >> what we wanted to do with his episode was to allow veterans to speak for themselves and i'm always trying to go beyond the common narratives around this. what you hear from most people is that veterans are a mass shooting waiting to happen but it's this perception that every veteran has ptsd and is broken and reaching out with their hands looking for someone to help them. that is not the case at all. that is very real and very valid but there are many other parts to this story. in that segment what you are looking at is soldiers who had taken off their uniforms, left the military but don't leave the battlefield and they don't go back to fight. they will fight if they have to defend themselves or to save someone but they are there to help people and [inaudible] you just saw him in that video with

one of his volunteers and they say they go with love in our hearts and people can roll their eyes at that but you should take a look at what they've been doing from the burma to the middle east for decades. they put their money where their mouth is. if you are sitting at home criticizing maybe you should try walking in their shoes. that's the point of this entire episode, the second part is about veterans success stories because there are many and they're not often told. the third part is really about that extreme situation of suicides more than 22 veterans commit suicide every day in this country and the last part is an expiration of the military zito's of no man left behind but the real purpose of this is to let people speak for themselves. abby: it is a really incredible purpose that you are showing to your viewers, lara. i just want to know from you, do you have a personal connection to this? what was the motivation behind

these episodes? >> this is the product of more than 20 years of covering, not just these wars but i've been on battlefields going back to the civil war in angola, mozambique, wars that young people today probably never heard of and only a few americans might remember. i'm not gone to war because i'm a war junkie, that's one of the worst things you could say to me because when you know what you sacrifice to go into the worst of situations and open yourself up completely and go with an open heart and with an open mind i don't do it for adrenaline or thrills but because things are at stake. the same principles are at stake right here in the united states and those principles of freedom and equality and justice for all, those are the things, if you send people to die in your name, i just believe we have a responsible lead to know what it is we're asking asking them to do and to calculate the full cost and the whole context and there is a price we all pay for

everything we do in our lives and for what we do as a country. this is about trying to understand that. my entire life has been about trying to understand and know the truth so that i can have something meaningful to share with people who don't have the ability to do that. actually, it is true that the united states government belongs to the people. it is a government for the people but how can the people make good decisions at their doing two, three jobs like most people where i live in the hill country in texas outside of austin and people have two, three jobs. the live week to week but they are paying their bills and what they are doing is honest and they are doing their best every single day. they don't want to make a mistake at the polls and they want to do the right thing. that is part of my job and my response ability in my duty as a journalist to find out what's going on but i don't like to take other people's words for. i like to see it happen in front of me and learn about it and learn about it from the ground up and from every single person
