law-abiding citizen who wants decency, civility, safety and security. we are working towards a more just society, but that means building up, not tearing down. joining hands, not hurling fists. standing in solidarity, not surrendering to hostility. moments ago as we witnessed the launch of two great american astronauts into space, we were filled with the sense of pride and unity that brings us together as americans. that same spirit which powered our astronauts to the moon has also helped lift our country to ever greater heights of justice and opportunity throughout our history. so today as we mark a renewed commitment to america's future in space, a tremendous commitment it is.

let us also commit to a brighter future for all of our citizens right here on cert. when americans are -- right here on earth. when americans are united there is not a thing we can't do. in my administration we put america first. [cheers and applause] this afternoon i'm delighted to be with you at cape canaveral in this storied home of american daring, aspiration and drive. this is the first big space message in 50 years. and it is an honor to be delivering it. today as we gather in this special place to celebrate the launch of a new spacecraft with but also our nation's bold and triumphant return to the stars, it's a special day.

most daring, most audacious missions in the history of humankind. when i first came into office three and a half years ago nasa had lost its way and the excitement, energy and ambition as almost everybody in this room knows was done. there was grass growing through the cracks of your concrete runways. not a pretty sight. not a pretty sight at all. the last administration preside over the closing of the space shuttle. and almost all of the giant facility that keeps so many people working, so many brilliant minds going, people were crying, they were devastated. but now it's the greatest of its kind anywhere in the world.

and we'll get greater and great with years to come. i promise you that. we have created the envy of the world and will soon be landing on mars and soon have the greatest weapons ever imagined in history. i have already seen designs. even i can't believe it. the united states has regained our place of press teen -- of ps the world leader. you can't be number one on earth if you are number two in space. and we are not going to be number two anywhere. nowhere is this more true than with our military which we have completely rebuilt under my

[applause] since i signed the order to establish these goals shortly after taking office, we have
2:42 pm
made rapid gains. a new 22,000 pound capsule is already built. the next generation of space suits are already made. colossal rockets are now being tested. and th -- and the contracts for three separate lunar landers have been awarded and signed, and they are magnificent. in the years ahead america will go bigger, bolder, further, faster, and america will go first. america will always be first. to be certain, we'll meet the adversity and hardship along the way. there may even be tragedy because that is the danger of space. there is nothing we can do about
2:43 pm
that. the power that we are talking business unrivaled. there is nothing we can do about problems. but we'll have very few of them. we'll confront all of those challenges knowing that the quest for understanding is the oldest and deepest hope in our souls. the innate human desire to explore ands what propels the engines of progress and the march of we'll preserve and persevere and we'll make sure the future of american dominance in space. over the last three years i reestablished the national space council. i issued a directive cutting red tape for innovative space companies such as spacex.
2:44 pm
we created the world's first comprehensive space traffic management system. i signed an executive order establishing u.s. policy for the recovery and use of space resources and minerals. administrative announced the artemis to govern the future of space exploration development. we'll assert america's rightful heritage and already it's not even close. in the move century since the united states stopped sending astronauts deep into space, 1972, no other country has ever done it. the reasons are simple. cost, technological complexity, and tremendous danger.
2:45 pm
for instance i was told the rocket you just witnessed had to be launched within one second or it would be impossible for it to hit its target. and i was here two days ago. and i said to jim, jim, it's okay, why don't you wait five or 10 minutes. and he said, sir, we only have a window of one second. i walked out of here shaking my head. is that true, jim? yes, it's true. space travel is not a feat of engineering alone. it's also a moral endeavor. a measure of a nation's vision, will power and place in the world. exploration is a test of our values, and of our faith. america is a nation defined by
2:46 pm
its commitment to discovery, to solve mysteries to chart the unknown, to press the limits to achieve the fullest expression of life's potential. and to insure that america is the nation that always leads the way and especially in space. this evening i am more confident than ever before that america stands poised to thrive in this grand undertaking. it's incredible. we are a nation of pioneers, we are the people who crossed the ocean, caused out a foothold on a vast continent, settled a great wilderness, then set our eyes upon the stars. this is our history. this our destiny. now like our ancestors before us, we are venturing out to explore a new space.
2:47 pm
our most daring feats, our most epic journeys, our biggeste adventures and finest days are just beginning. america's proudest moments are still ahead. we are on the verge of our most exciting years, and next year may be the most exciting of all. you just watch. so today as our brave american astronauts shake the earth and blaze a trail of fire and steel into the heavens, we prove claim for all to hear that we have not yet tested the full strength of the american character. and the world has not yet seen the full glory of the american spirit. for our country, for our children, and for humanity's march into the stars, the best
2:48 pm
is yet to come. [cheers and applause] it was a great honor for me to deliver this speech. god bless our brave astronauts now soaring through the heavens. nasa, and god bless america. thank you very much. thank you. [♪] dana: president trump finishing up his speech at nasa for the nasa employees and spacex employees. we covered a lot of speeches over many years in administrations. i think that speech right there will be considered a signature moment for him. historical. beautiful in the writing and the delivery. and very aspirational for the future of american space travel.
2:49 pm
very exciting. he also reported there that the two astronauts, doug hurley and behnken are up there. they are up there and we might be hearing from them soon. no doubt a wonderful, beautiful day there for nasa and spacex. and exciting as america is back in space and we have a lot more to come on that. president trump also giving the longest remarks he has to date about george floyd. he addressed the injustice. he talked about what the federal government is willing to do to expedite the investigation on the federal government side. but he also talked about the protests. we are going to play a little bit of that for you. it was at the top of the speech you may not have seen it. i want to bring back lawrence jones, a fox news contributor who listened to that speech with me. do we have that available?
2:50 pm
let's his be to that. president trump: we must all work together as a society to expand opportunity and create a future of greater dignity and promise for all of our people. we must forge a partnership with community leaders, local law enforcement, and the faith community to restore hope. radical left criminal, thugs and others all throughout our country and throughout the world will not be allowed to set communities ablaze, we won't let it happen. it harms those who have the least. and we'll be protecting those who have the least. the leadership of the national guard and the department of justice are now in close

2:52 pm
and the people trying to dishonor the memory of mr. floyd. he tall out the antifa -- he called out the antifa members and bad actors. he talked about talking to tim scott. this was a good speech. it was balanced, measured. there was action in there. i have got to give the president some kudos there. it's not a bit of criticism. but where do we go from here. this would be my advice as an even list and former strategist. get behind tim scott's bill. the walter scott act that monitors policing and looks at the data within collect that data. the president has a case. he's not a black male. he doesn't understand a perspective such as mine. but he does have his own
2:53 pm
experience such as the fbi, and spying and feeling like he was targeted by bad actors. he doesn't say all fbi agents are this way. but he mass his even experience -- but he has his own experience. he may say i may not understand your spirit. but i understand bad actors exist and i want to get ahead of it. i want to bring all community leaders together to monitor this. if you are a bad cop, and i understand the president said it very clear, and i agree with him. the majority of cops go out there and do their job and they should be protected. they shouldn't be shot at. their house shouldn't be burned down. but if you are a bad cop, the federal government will come after you. and we'll make an example out of you. i have seen it in my own personal life. and the people in the community,
2:54 pm
i hear your cry and i'll work with senators like tim scott to bring those bad actors to justice. dana: they are planning hearings on racial violence and use of force by the police, recognizing that there is not going to be enough to let this sort of die down and move on. i don't have a date for those maring yet. but hearing that those things will take place. hopefully we didn't lose lawrence jones. lawrence, if you are still there with me. i want to ask you about these reports about outsiders in all of these cities. it's super troubling. especially in minneapolis i saw something cross the wire. 50% of the people who were there
2:55 pm
weren't from minnesota. what is the motivation too come from somewhere else if not to sow chaos and hurt that community. >> there are conflicting reports on whether they are outsiders. from my experience as i said earlier in the program. i know them to be outside. the data is about 50 per where. the motivation is they have their own agenda. they are anarchists. they may be far far left and they may not like the way the government is going. they have their own agenda separate from the community that is mourning. you have to shine light on those bad actors. but as the president says, the majority of people there are peaceful. but it's up to the government that is there on the ground to implement policy and go after those people of and separate them from the protesters at large.
2:56 pm
because it distracts from what they are trying to accomplish on the ground. now i see some reports saying some of the losing are not showing the real addresses. that happens. protesters that are anarchists, they use fake i.d. i know that from back in the day. don't be surprised about that. dana: lawrence jones, i appreciate you staying with me these two hours. thank you. that will do it for me tonight. but i will see you tomorrow object "fox news sunday." chris wall whras has eat -- chrl has has keith ellison.
