10:02 am
same thing happen here, the glass window of journeys is also smash through, it's not clear if anything was taken or stolen, several businesses on the couple of the blocks look exactly the same, we want to show you some video from last night when the peaceful daytime protest turned violent before the sun went do down, protesters damage several police cars and a police man was lit on fire and nypd arrested 345 people, a total of 47 police vehicles damaged and 33 officers injured. there are also videos showing nypd vehicles pushing through the crowds using force, mayor de blasio says while he wishes officers had not done that, it was wrong for protesters to surround the police vehicles and he wants all of these events, independently investigated and done quickly, he wants answers by june and he called out what he believes is a small group of

people instigating all the violence. >> i saw what was happening out there, it is wrong, our police officers are working men and women and they should not be treated this way, it is wrong, stop everyone trying to put on different labels and look at the human element. you don't treat people that way. >> today sad images of st. patrick's cathedral in new york city desecrated with protest and graffiti, it was also tagged and what were seen right now in downtown new york city, some of the businesses like this one like journeys is now starting to board their glass windows up even though that did not have any damage done, and preparation for what might come as there's more protest scheduled for today. eric: thank you so much. arthel: violent crashes were
10:04 am
seen in seattle where protesters torched police cars leading to a curfew in that city. dan springer is live in seattle with more. reporter: we saw the violent protest breakout of what it was peaceful protest all of the country but today it's given away to an army of volunteers and workers who are doing this, they are scrubbing graffiti and boarding up broken windows, here in seattle it was the worst right riot back in 1990 and they declared a curfew from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. saturday and sunday and the governor activated a national guard, t 200 unarmed soldiers will help with control, looting with widespread, the store was crashed, north face, nike were among those damaged and burglarized. police deployed pepper spray, tear gas and fired rubber bullets, they may 27 arrest and all. but the scariest moment involved

to ar-15 rifles from a burning seattle pd squad car, private security officer who was protecting a news crew pulled his weapon and disarmed the protester, he recovered both rifles and please say today he will potentially saved many lives. a citywide curfew is ignored in oregon after a violent friday night which we saw set fire to the justice center. numerous stores were looted, damages said to be in the millions of dollars and in salt lake city, the situation when the man got out of his car and yelled all lives matter then aimed his bow and arrow at protesters, he was overrun by the crowd and he was beaten by the crowd in his car overturned and burned. police say the man will likely face charges and in philadelphia, massive demonstration but several thousand people and it started out peaceful and then turned

ugly, 13 cops were injured, police cars set on fire and 140 people arrested, many for violating the curfew. according to the associate which is keeping a tally, there's been 1669 arrest in 22 cities since thursday. curfews are in place in more than a dozen cities in the national guard is now deployed in many of them and were also seen as i said in army of the volunteers out here trying to please the city of seattle and reboard all the broken windows and again, get back to normal. back to you. arthel: dan springer reporting from seattle, thank you. eric: sadly the protest in some cases have gone beyond that, they don't think we've been under attack from domestic terrorist, let me show you a picture one victim, this is patrick underwood, he was 53 years old, he was a federal protection officer who is guarding the oakland federal building in oakland when someone

arrest two. live in washington with more on that. reporter: the floyd family attorney says they think they have a case for more severe murder charges because they believe x officer derek chauvin showed intent killing george floyd, attorney benjamin says the protest will not stop until the charges are upgraded to first degree murder and the three other officers who stood by and watched are arrested as well. >> the only thing that can put out these fires are police accountability and equal justice, we think that he had intent based on, not just the one minute, two minute but over eight minutes, almost nine minutes he kept his knee in a man's neck that was begging and pleading for breath. >> minnesota attorney general telling "fox news sunday", more charges could come for derek chauvin and the three officers still out free.
10:09 am
>> we are very early in this process, very early, it is not uncommon to amend charges, it is not uncommon to add defendants. reporter: president trump yesterday said he understood the pain being felt by so many, george floyd's brother says his phone call from the president was not enough. >> he was so bad he did not get an opportunity to speak, i was trying to talk to him but he just kept pushing me off, i don't want to hear what you're talking about. i just told him, i want justice. >> floyd family is asking him to appoint allison the special prosecutor of the case, they do not believe the county attorney has done enough quick enough, they said at this point he is standing behind the process. eric: thank you so much. arthel: people around the world reacted to the death of mr. george floyd in police custody minneapolis thousands

gather today in london to protest the killing of mr. floyd who was unarmed in london is not the only place people are protesting, amy kellogg is live in florence italy. reporter: there has been similar shock around the world at the manner in which george floyd died and there have been peaceful protest in several places today, we sell protesters outside the u.s. embassy in berlin, they were waving banners, chanting slogans, they were calling for justice for george floyd and their banner said stop killing us, let us breathe, those are the some of the banners on this play in berlin today. in london a peaceful protest on the square took place and then it moved onto westminster in the houses of parliament where people wanted to make a statement about their upset over the killing over mr. floyd,
10:11 am
protesters chanted black lives matter. >> we see for hundreds of years, black people and people of color, they are absolutely abused and killed in the street and it's getting worse and worse, we've had enough and if they don't listen we will scream louder and louder until something is done. we have had enough, this is means we've had enough, it's time to make changes. reporter: britain had its own riot for several nights back in 2011, sparked by the shooting of a mixed race man named mark duggan, the circumstances were different, he had been involved in gang activity in the recently purchased the gun that was unarmed when he was shot by police, subsequent inquest found police acted in self-defense, please peaceful protests turn violent and people were killed and hundreds of millions of dollars in damage, there are the
10:12 am
protest that went on for five nights in different neighborhoods of london in different cities across the uk and originally it was said and believed that those protests were sparked by poor relations between police and the black communities in certain neighborhoods but it kinda took a different trajectory at a certain point and there were a lot of different causes that got woven into a general outrage that we saw in the street of the united kingdom just close to ten years ago today. back to you. arthel: thank you. eric: there is some inspiring and encouraging news to tell you about, this is out of the world, to american astronauts getting ready to board the international space station right now coming up, will go back up there as they prepare to meet up with three of their colleagues. cut! is that good? no you were talking about allstate and...

10:17 am
had 17 completes filed against him and he was on the force for 19 years before before george floyd died in his custody, president trump in the last hour said he will designate it as a terrorist organization, what is this thing going forward, michael j moore, he joined just now, let me start with you, what does it mean if the president of the united states designate and this goes through declaring that antifa is a domestic terrorist organization, the president blaming the radical left group for fermenting this violent event at the outset i think it simply means it can be d.o.j. resources and designations put in place that can target them
10:18 am
under laws and that we have in the country as it relates to antifa. quite frankly it's more of a smokescreen that we had more discussion about antifa than the incident and self that led to his death, it is about as political move and part of the press. eric: there is a concern, we seen this violence, people being kicked in the head and attacked, someone in portland pushing in the street and kicks him in the teeth, violence around the country and something is being professionally instigated, let alone protest reasons for what has happened. let's listen to bob o'brien for second on cnn. >> he was trained to de-escalate, he did not want violence, he's trying to stop the violence we saw overnight in
10:19 am
the message, a strong message that we want law and order in this country, we want peaceful protesters who have real concerns about brutality and racism, they need to be able to petition their government and let their voices be heard, they cannot be hijacked by the left-wing antifa militants in the hispanic sections of our city. eric: do you think the face federal charges? >> they could, let me go back to my previous point, remind me which group the president th designated the domestic group after charlottesville, there was a death and a terrible destruction, i don't remember the president, i think he called them good people as well. that's what i mean, when you look at the underlying facts, i think you see a political one. eric: mercedes? >> i agree with michael in this
10:20 am
sense, we really need to focus on the peaceful protesters, we need to focus on the message and we need to focus on reform, is not to say this is a blemish on the entire law enforcement group because obviously those good law enforcement officials, their good people but law enforcement, police department around the country have to weed out the problematic officers, derek chauvin had 18 civilian complaints, how is that not problematic, how did that not rise to the point that this is an individual that frankly is a menace and needs to be disciplined, removed from having anything to do with the community and yet he continued to work day by day by day until that fateful day where mr. floyd was killed under his knee. let's be realistic about what we need to do.
10:21 am
we need to have some introspection, we really need to look at what is happening around the country and allow the peaceful protesters to message for reform and introspection and change. and if it's by criminalizing a group that criminalizes, great, if they're the ones creating the chaos, bringing down the buildings, the looting and everything else, take those individuals, bring justice, have them go through the criminal process. but what has happened, the people protesters message hijacked. eric: michael, what about that, the supervision that new york city has a civilian complaint review board and you have all these complaints, some can be legitimate, others not against officer but he was never faced any disciplinary action. i do think you can have bad officers and the good officers
10:22 am
that are out there, we have good police officers but we also have bad police officers, there's a code of silence with police department and law enforcement groups within blue line that they cover for each other and sweet things under the rug and justify things that are unjustifiable, i applaud the attorney, the county attorney there in minnesota who has removed from the grand jury, the process of charging these cases because he is taken a look at and he's reviewing annie's doing away with the notifications that you can see from internal review and from citizens who want to trust police officers. but this is absolutely unjustifiable, there is no excuse for, we can talk about lack of training and all that but this was a murder, american people watched it for almost ten minutes and they are systematically taking this man's life, and that's all there is to say about her. and we can talk about -- >> frankly the other officers have to be brought to justice
10:23 am
to. >> what can they face, what can they face? >> these are individuals that aided embedded, they're the ones watching this and aiding and abetting in the killing of mr. floyd -- the same charges of complicity. >> hold on mercedes. >> the statement after the fact it tends to cover up what happened, you might find that they tend to cover for each other so they can be charged with those things for obstruction, they can be charge- >> if the da comes forward and charges all of them, the three have been charged with complicity and it's a way to bring them in, you will see that they are going to be officers that will try to do a plea. mark my word.
10:24 am
>> that is 100% right, they need to make an arrest, there is no question that the justice demanded to make an immediate arrest, there is no question this is been incidental street in the cause of death would've been charged immediately, he made his initial arrest, that was the right thing, he needs to make the additional arrest of the other officers and make sure the case is pulled together. i do agree that you will see people flipping as soon as they feel the way the prosecution is all in. eric: a lot of calls for the rest of the three different people in george boyd's family for the complete outrage. mercedes calling michael j moore,. >> take care. arthel: the dragon hatches open in the welcome party has started, live look at the international space station as

this moment right now... this is our commencement. no, we'll not get a diploma or a degree of any kind. but we are entering a new chapter in our lives. our confidence is shaken; our hearts cracked. the kind of a crack that comes from the loss of a job; from life plans falling apart. we didn't ask for it... but we are rising to meet it. and how far we've come isn't even close to how far we can go.

texas senator, there is a mission control talking to them, let's listen on the astronauts, they gather up in space. >> we had a couple opportunities to take it out for a spin so to speak, once after we got into orbit last night and again, today about 20 minutes before we docked in my complements to the folks at hawthorne in spacex for how well it flu it's like the simulator and we could not be happier about the performance of the vehicle. >> what you guys hope to accomplish in your time on international space station? >> while were on board the space station of course with the new spacecraft, we do hope to put it through the paces and a good endeavor will get a lot of checkout over the next week or two and hopefully will be able
10:31 am
to declare her operational and doug and i will be able to take burden off of chris and his crewmates, and we can keep the space station operating at its peak possibilities. were looking forward to contributing anyway we can and like i said, keep the space station as productive as possible. >> as a country were in the midst of a tough week, protest, anger, violence and i have to say, this launch in your docking is a powerful inspiration of what we can do when we come together, a power of unity, the power of ingenuity and i guess the last question i would ask you, since you have the opportunity to address in particular all the young people in america, what would you tell them in terms of what we can do when we can come together?
10:32 am
>> that is a great question, nine years ago just about exactly nine years ago we docked with atlanta on scs 135, the last flight of the space shuttle to your program. and folks at spacex and nasa, the commercial crew program put their heads together and work diligently year after year making sacrifices working hard and then nine years later, american launch capability was restored and this is just one effort that we can show for the ages in this dark time that we have had over the past several months to inspire, especially the young people in the united states to reach for the lofty goals and work hard and look what you can accomplish.
10:33 am
thank you donna, god blessed you. >> thank you, senator cruz, we have another special guest that represents the johnson space center and it's my good friend from the house of representatives, doctor brian, i want to be clear, he also was a big part of the nasa transition authorization act which gave us the continuity of purpose to make this happen today. so gentlemen here is doctor brian bob and from the state of texas. >> thank you. it's great to be with you, i was at the launch yesterday, i just want to say a huge congratulation and there was a thunderstorm that blew in 45 minutes or so before liftoff and it was in doubt for a minute but it was in a enormous

achievement, i just want to say i really appreciate what you're doing for america and the crew that has already been up there, chris and your two fellow russians, to give you a great big thank you as well, i have a son who is a navy seal and i want to thank you for your service chris and also, i would like to see -- i know you said that the craft, the dragon handled very well but i want to see how it compares with the space shuttle, if one of you would address that, i would appreciate it. >> thank you's are, it certainly has been a long endeavor for us and our main shift name save spacecraft, were proud to have
10:35 am
after all the teams around the country and across america have done to get us here today. as far as a comparison with the space shuttle, both doug and i took a few minutes while we were accomplishing the approach and docking in our spare time to talk a little bit about it, we were surprised a little bit about how smooth things were off the pad, the space shuttle is a pretty rough ride heading into orbit with a solid rocket booster and our expectation was, as we continued with the flight in the second stage that things would basically get a lot smoother than the space shuttle did but dragon was huffing and puffing all the way into orbit and we were definitely driving and riding the dragon all the way up. it was not quite the same ride, the smooth ride as a space shuttle, little bit less a gees but a little bit more alive i would describe it.
10:36 am
anything else doug? no, okay. >> bob what is miko? >> sorry i have to apologize for using the term miko, it's a little bit confusing between the space shuttle and the dragon vehicles, the main engine cut off is what miko stands for, those happen at different times and white for the two vehicles for the space shuttle, that is when you are all the way in orbit for dragon and that was a little bit after two minutes, we had the single engine cut off for second stage when we achieved orbit. that time under the single engine under dragon with one engine was more of an experience than the shuttle was for that six and a half minutes or so that we were under that second stage motor. >> i would just like to say, in
10:37 am
fact, doug did you have something you wanted to add? >> i met your mother and father yesterday doug, great folks, very, very proud of their son. >> yeah, that's pretty cool. hopefully they enjoyed the launch. i know for parents, it can probably be pretty nerve-racking for them to experience a launch, this was their third so i am glad everything went okay and hopefully it was a good show. we haven't heard or seen any video yet but were looking forward to seeing the launch replayed sometime. >> i can assure you it was a great show. it was one of the treats of my lifetime i will have to say in many of the folks sitting here looking all across the country and even the world, as senator cruz said, was gone through some

really rough times over the last few days and have that successful launch is a public-private partnership between nasa and spacex, you guys being so well-trained and having it go off without a hitch was a tremendous blessing for our country. and i cannot tell you how many e-mails and communications i've gone from people who were so disturbed by what's been going on transpiring around the country to have the great news and the wonderful liftoff and everything going without a hitch i want to say god bless both of you, thank you so very much and bless the rest of you folks up there as well we think our russian partners in thank you chris, you are in our prayers and were looking forward to seeing you, you successfully
