america's news headquarters, i'm eric sean. hi, arthel. arthel: hi, eric, happy father's day and happy father's day to all the fathers listening right now. i am arthel neville, so while the president was speaking inside the arena, peaceful and rather uneventful protests were underway outside with some disturbances as the president hit familiar themes blasting democrats and joe biden and using recent events to highlight what's at stake in november. >> americans have watched left-wing radicals burn down buildings, loot businesses, destroy private property; injured hundreds of dedicated police officers, they want to demolish our heritage so they can impose their new oppressive regime in its place, they wanted to fund and dissolve our police department, think of that.

arthel: casey steigel, downtown right now. reporter: the cleanup has begun, we started to see the tents go down in addition to the barriers and all of the temporary fencing that was put up. the president spoke for about an hour and 45 minutes last night to a very enthusiastic crowd inside the bok center hitting on a wide range of topics as you talked about taking swipes at former vice president joe biden, his opponent, saying that he often doesn't even know what state he's in, getting big cheers from people on wanting to jail anyone desecrating the american flag and a lot of discussion about the, quote, leftist radicals wanting to defund police departments.

during and after the event, members made up of the black lives matter movement and antipolice activists. there were a few clashes at times but things did remain mostly peaceful, no significant reports of property damage or arrests by tulsa or a number of the other local law enforcement and national guard that were here on the grounded protecting people. arthel, eric, back to you. arthel: casey steigle, i will take it from here from tulsa. attorney general barr says president trump has fired federal prosecutor geoffrey berman, one day after the attorney general announced berman was stepping down and then benchan refused to resign. well, now president trump is denying involvement in the decision. lauren blanchard with more.

hi, lauren. lauren: as attorney general bill barr said he would put one of the favorites in the position, it wasn't that barr conceded that berman's deputy could take over for the time being. that berman said he would resign. he said in a statement in light of attorney general's decision and have deputy u.s. attorney audrey strauss becoming u.s. attorney i would be leaving for the southern district of new york effective immediately. before resignation and while the two were in a public standoff, barr sent this letter, quote, you have chosen public spectacle over public service, because you have declared no intention of resigning, i have asked the president to remove you as of today and he has done so. democrats hope to bring berman to testify this coming week. they want to know who and berman was investigating and if there was any politically motivated reason particularly from the oval office for the removal, house judiciary chairman jerry

shooting inside the occupation zone early saturday morning but as body cam clearly shows they were met by angry mob. one officer heard saying, let us through, we want to get to the victims but the crowd did not comply, so police decided all they could do was retreat, unable now to use pepper spray or teargas because it was taken away by city council to control the crowd, they got back in their cars and left. all the while getting taunted and having bottles thrown at them. as they drive away, more humiliation as the crowd cheers and chants whose streets, our streets, all the while 19-year-old black teenager was killed and another black man still layed bleeding inside the occupation zone. mayor jenny durkan did not do any media yesterday. the primary of seattle police is to ensure public safety in all parts of the city and in another bit of irony, local rapper

calls. bryan llenas live in atlanta with the latest. bryan. bryan: protests have been largely peaceful but isolated clashes between demonstrators involving gunfire, you mentioned one, demonstrators say a man tried to drive into the protestors and they opened fire on that vehicle, but the driver has another story, he says, well, he tried to drive away because fun fire in suit. left one woman injured, she got hit by gunshots. the wendy's has become memorial guarded by protestors with guns, meantime protests continue, last night an american flag burned outside police precinct zone 3 in atlanta though we witnessed many peaceful protestors. protestors say they will

judgment, are you smart and support the president's positions and i think the answer to that is, yes, all the people who are being looked at and the next question is who can help politically and nobody is actually sure, if anybody is president, the possibility of lyndon johnson with jfk made a difference in state. arthel: so then that said, governor, let's look at some of the i'd say top contenders and get your analysis. i will say her name and you list strength and weakness as a candidate. let's start with susan rice? >> susan rice, strength, she's strong and extremely intelligent women, she doesn't know politics very well and question whether personality is -- persuade people to go along with certain policies; but susan rice would

be an excellent choice because the military, foreign affairs is so important and will become increasingly important as time goes on. arthel: senator kamala harris. >> well, kamala harris probably has the best overall resume, she ran in office as district attorney in staff and attorney general of california and she has been a united states senator. she has a lot of experience. she knows all of the issues. the only downside is she is a probation -- prosecutor and that's true of anybody who has been a prosecutor for a given of time. arthel: what about congresswoman

val demmings. >> she's been a congresswoman. she did a very good job during the impeachment hearings and has done good jobs in interviews recently. the question is does she have enough foreign policy, military experience but i think she can learn that. i think she's a possible candidate. arthel: so you know, i want to take a look at new fox news poll specifically the part that shows that 62% of those polled are enthusiastic about president trump compared to 31% of biden supporters who have enthusiastic about biden for president, so do you think that when mr. biden does announce pick for running mate, people will get more excited about the biden ticket? >> well, hopefully. that'll be one one of the crite,

but i think joe biden will benefit from having the two best campaigners in the democratic party campaigning for him almost every day on september and october and that's michelle and barack obama. so i don't worry about turnout. you know, there's an old saying, tepid votes counts the same as wildly enthusiastic vote. the best magnet we have for attracting to polls is donald trump. since performance monday night in washington where he walked across and did the photo-op in the church, that was abusive performance that people are fired up. the fundraising, we had a fundraising for vice president biden, virtual fundraiser and took off after that and terrific speech the vice president made in philadelphia. i think donald trump is our best

eric: coronavirus cases are aren the rise in or country, more than two dozen states are recording spikes, mostly down south and out west and midwest, california happens to be one of those states, the golden state hit a one-day record of cases just last week. jeff paul is live in los angeles with the very latest on the situation there, hi, jeff. jeff: yeah, eric, here in los angeles county health officials reported a single-day spike of more than 2,000 new cases

yesterday and 48 new deaths. they say the spike is due in part to delays in lab reporting, but that brings the total to more than 81,000 cases in this county alone, more than 160,000 cases across california and cases right now are going up in nearly 20 states and some are reporting some of their highest numbers over the past few days. florida being one of the hardest hit, just yesterday the sunshine state hit its third straight day of breaking single-day records, and the rate of positive cases from testing in florida has more than doubled over the past 10 days, governor ron desantis previously had referenced increased testing as driving force in those numbers spiking, but he's changing his tune somewhat saying a lot of younger people aren't social distance distanceing. -- distancing. >> we are also seeing that not only are they testing positive because we are testing more but higher rate increasingly last

cdc, doctor, always good to have you, jumping right in, in the early days to have pandemic it was widely believed by medical experts that young people were generally safe, couldn't contract coronavirus, so has biological exposure changed or is the rise in coronavirus cases among young people due to their social behavior? doctor: no one is immune to this virus if they haven't gotten it before and what we are seeing increase spread in parts of the united states while other parts are staying physically distanced and cases are continuing to decrease. the issue is, arthel, that young people can absolutely get the infection, they are way likely to get serious ill but they can be severely affected and they with spread it even if they don't feel sick, they can spread it to parents, grandparents, people in their community who are on cancer treatment or have diabetes or kidney failure and

any time you see increase in any group is a concern and what we are seeing in half a dozen states big increase of number of cases and increase in the positivity rate, that's a very important number to check because if that's going up it's telling you this isn't about getting more tests, this is about getting more infections out there and that tells us we have to do two things. first the 3w's, wear a mask, wash your hands or use sanitizer and watch your distance. stay 6 feet apart whenever possible and second support the health department to test, isolate, contact trace and quarantine and quite frankly, arthel, other than some communities around the u.s. we are far behind other countries in doing these things and because of that we are having more death and more economic devastation. arthel: i mean, i'm going to throw it out there, it's kind of rhetorical at this point unfortunately it seems, what's the answer, what's the solution, how do we combat what you just

told us which is not a great scenario that you presented? dock to be doctor: we can do so much better. we are americans and first and foremost we have to recognize that. there's one enemy and that's the virus, it's deadly virus, mild for some people but a killer for others and that's why we all have to work together to keep it at bay and track where it in our community and adjust level of activity -- our level of activity. there are some communities that don't have a lot of coronavirus and there you can be much more free easy on what you do and close to. but places like arizona, alabama, south carolina, texas, florida, these are places that have a lot of covid right now. you really want to wear a mask, wash your hands and watch your distance. that's particularly important when you're inside within 6 feet of other people. when you're outside the risk is much, much lower. those 3 things can make a big difference and supporting

only 36 or 37 and that means if there's going to be a next generation of the kim family, that means it's got to be kim yo-jong because she's the one capable of doing this. eric: is it possible in terms of her being a female, that that could be -- their sense of tradition and history can be changed and she could take over? gordon: well, i think the sense of tradition and history will change largely because it has to change. there's no other kim who could really take her place, and so really she's -- she's going to be the one and, you know, by the way, she's being referred to in state media in the terms that are referred to successor of kim leader. they call her the party center and that's significant in the sense that they are designating her as the fourth kim leader after kim jong un should he

untimely pass. you know, right now kim jong un has a couple of kids, they are toddlers, of course, they couldn't rule, so kim jong un at least would be the regent and would be designated as the supreme leader because she is ruthless enough and building support in the regime which is, of course, important for succession issue. eric: so we shouldn't be fooled by outward appearances, i guess. meanwhile, gordon, they have been threatening the south but us, threatening our presidential election and fears from experts that north korea has the capability to be able to hack into our election system during the presidential race. here is a statement from the foreign ministry of kim jong un recently saying, quote, it seems that the u.s. fails resentment of our people. the u.s. pokes its nose in other affairs with careless remarks far from minding internal affairs at a time when political situation is
