i know it upsets a lot of people because it feels like we are going backward but we see a spike in cases, is this the right thing to do? >> of course it is the right thing to do, the spike in cases is telling us we are going backwards, or at least not moving forwards, we are having a resurgence in states, cases rising in states we haven't seen before. we know this is problematic, record high number of cases and hospitals reaching their capacity in texas, when hospitals reach capacity it means our ability to care for people becomes limited and potentially rations, this is a problem at the cdc director mentioned we could have ten times more cases than we know about. the step in the right direction is not happening with the cases. we need to pause what we are doing and allow us to have more freedom as time goes on. if we don't stop these cases and

minimize death and illness we could be in lockdown or have restrictions for a long time. this is protective. that is what people need to think about. this is not punitive. it is not punishment or blaming, this is protecting us from what could happen in the future. rob: my friend in texas said he went to a bar which was open, making big drinks, putting six straws in it and there you go, this is what happens so people have to make a decision. let's talk about the new symptoms the cdc has added. i don't know what isn't a symptom, congestion, runny nose, nausea, diarrhea, it spans anything now. >> when we first started having these conversations back in january before we had cases in this country the symptoms were fever, shortness of breath and cough and we thought it extended

to pneumonia. all of a sudden, gradually as we learn more we understand more about it, people can have loss of smell or loss of taste, muscle aches, headaches and now congestion, runny nose, nausea and diarrhea, the updated the list, that is not the full list, we know people can have other symptoms, even neurological symptoms etc. but what this is representing is our growing knowledge about this condition and understanding we've been saying from the beginning we haven't known anything, this is a new disease, we are acknowledging that we are learning more. the bigger take-home point for people at home is things that are concerning if you had contact with anybody with coronavirus or not you should talk with your doctor, the mask debate shouldn't be a debate. one thing i want to mention, it
