's business, your business specifically, the energy industry as a whole worried about the biden plan or you feel confident you can deal with it? >> we will deal with whatever we have to deal with in the energy industry has proven how resilient it is. biden is wrong on energy and will cost jobs. to focus on renewable resources is admirable but is a pipe dream. we are better off preserving oil and gas jobs we have.

biden is foolhardy thinking we can flip a switch and have renewable resources produce most of the jobs. the other thing is he's not being honest with consumers that we've been tracking, putting methane regulations that is good on the surface but it will lead to higher prices at the pump and if you ask americans if they want that the answer is a resounding no. it isn't going to sit well when middle-class americans look at the cost, trump is stronger on energy and stronger on the economy. shannon: thank you for joining us, we appreciate it. 17 after the hour, democrats push to extend the $600 weekly unemployment, most americans receiving at are making more than they would working. shannon: lawmakers promise a second round of stimulus checks even though millions haven't received their first. peter morici joins us live next.

is a doing more harm than good? peter morici joins us to break it down. let's take a look at the proposal, $200 a week under the gop heals act in 200 and he rose act. is one of these the answer or is it somewhere in the middle? >> it has got to be in the middle, $600 a week is too much, $200 a week is not enough, $600 a week, if we extend that through march we will have a problem. democrats can say studies show this tiny didn't have that effect. it is june, your check went out the end of july or former employer calls you up and says come back to work and i say i am getting all this money, if you don't come back to work now i won't have a job for you august 1st so you go back to work but if you're making $12, $15 an hour you can be pretty

confident you can find a job in january and just wait it out if we extend these unemployment benefits. >> from a political perspective the tug-of-war going on between the parties, which party ultimately wins on this issue? >> i think the democrats win. the reason is republicans did wait too long and senator mcconnell did give in too much to people on the extreme really don't want to do anything at all. they seem to think the economy will recover miraculously on its own. all i have to do is walk down m street through georgetown to see that it is not recovering on its own. 11, abercrombie and fitch, argonne, still boarded up and they could open but they don't. same about many other big names, local retailers gone forever. we are going to come out of this if we do all the right things 10% smaller economically with 15 million unemployed that weren't

unemployed before. if we don't do the right thing to do it right now this week it could be a lot worse than that. shannon: scary when you think about it and the potential of what is going to happen with the virus this fall, things people don't know the answers to. let's talk about the second round of stimulus checks included in the republican plan. a whole bunch of people haven't received the first one. what do you think? >> according to the federal reserve in may and june half of all american families already had an income loss, democrats are obsessed with putting lots of requirements and strings in the stimulus checks so they simply don't get out. the best thing to do is give everybody a check. because it is taxable the present progressive income tax will take care of bringing the money back from those who shouldn't have it. it is absolutely absurd, demagoguery, their way of targeting checks to people who

pull a for the d, the blues and keeping money from the rich, very cynical thing that they do. my feeling is it is easy to give everybody a check, democrats won't let this happen. on this point they lose. >> $755 million government loan under the defense production act to kodak, member those guys, they used to make film and nobody uses film anymore because of these phones, they are not going to make drug production, what do you make of this transformation? >> it is a very smart move. kodak, making film is a chemical process and they make a lot of complex chemical products. one of the things we don't recognize, because of those little instant cameras that are so popular is kodak is a high-tech company. might not be in digits but chemistry, materials and so forth is very high-tech, they
