"fox and friends first" starts right now. >> you are watching "fox and friends first" on tuesday morning. jillian: thank you for starting the day with us. we will get to this extreme weather. moments ago, isaias down graded to a tropical storm, racing of the east coast after making landfall as a hurricane overnight in the carolinas.
1:02 am
>> powerful winds and rain battering south carolina, sparking a series of house fires in north carolina. mike tobin begins our coverage in myrtle beach. what is it looking like? >> it is surprising how calm it usually is on the backside of a hurricane. isaias downgraded to a tropical storm as it moves northward. landfall was just after 11:00 last night. the eye of the storm hit just half an hour north of where i am now. in ocean isle, north carolina caring with the winds clocked at 85 miles per hour. we are into category one hurricane status as it makes landfall and as promised it did indeed bring a lot of floodwaters with it, with the rain and the timing so close to the tides. and unexpected consequence of this hurricane was it sparks a number of house fires a structure fires.
1:03 am
the fire department was reported to battle a number of different structure fires. it was expected to bring a lot of floodwaters. it hit 2 hours after high time. there was a lot of concern about storm surge, rain and high tide all at the same time but it seems some of the effective was trying to go out, the tidewater tried to receive, you have all the wind with the storm, driving the water back so you had some flooding. we haven't some and some confirmed reports that some people were in the ocean isle area starting on the second floor of some structures before the floodwaters receded. as daylight comes we will be able to that the veracity of those reports but you do have the storm downgraded to a tropical storm reaching into virginia and headed north. everyone remembers sandy as it moves north, people in new jersey and new york remembers sandy. is north even though it doesn't have the title hurricane any longer it still needs to be taken seriously, donald trump said yesterday federal agencies,

floyd's coming, minneapolis leaders moving forward with defunding the police as crime rises, 288 were shot in a city, double the number from this time last year but a recent poll shows a majority would vote to replace the police department. many politicians having protesters show up outside their homes. minnesota republican state senator speaking exclusively to fox news on demonstrators on his doorstep last month saying, quote, we were watching it on my doorbell and you get a different feeling when you see people slithering up to my front door, opening it and pounding and yelling demanding that i come out, the minneapolis mayor blaming governor tim wallace for not sending a national guard sooner. meanwhile donald trump saying he would be willing to meet with black lives matter. >> i got off to a bad start. >> we meet with black lives matter? >> i would.
1:06 am
but nobody has asked for a meeting, nobody asked for a meeting. >> dozens continue to protest the reopening of the store where floyd was killed. shannon: thank you. a portland teen is charged with issuing the us arsenal with an explosive. isaiah is accused of pulling down plywood sheeting at the federal courthouse, the lighting the device and throwing it inside. the explosion injured the marshall flag, for several charges include assaults, he's being held until his next court appearance which hasn't been scheduled. todd: a developing story released, israeli forces launched airstrikes on military sites across syria, israel, responding to an attempted terror attack at the northern border. >> tensions are rising. what is the latest?
1:07 am
>> overnight the israeli military struck multiple targets in syria. according to the israeli defense forces observation post antiaircraft positions and intelligence gathering locations were hit, all of them belonging to the syrian armed forces. this comes in response to four people sending a trying to plant an ied near the israel syria border. all four of those people were killed when his really opened fire. these people were likely linked to an iranian proxy operating in southern syria. the israeli military holds the syrian government responsible for all attacks on the border. the israeli military says remains on high alert and retaliation by the militants of has below when the organization's fighters was killed in as really airstrike in syria and they vowed to respond. the israeli security cabinet is scheduled to meet and to address the lebanese people, waiting to see what will develop in the coming days.
1:08 am
shannon: thank you. >> donald trump ready to take coronavirus leaf into his own hands is democrats push back on negotiations. >> they want to bail out cities and states that have done a bad job, nothing to do with coronavirus. they are not interested in the people, they are not interested in unemployment. i'm going to stop it because i will do it myself if i have to. i have a lot of powers with respect to executive orders. shannon: the president says he has been involved in negotiations and it is time to save american businesses. nancy pelosi not as confident, telling fox news she claims it is doubtful they could move a covid-19 stimulus bill through this week. in new york, chief political correspondent at washington examiner says democrats are dealing much-needed relief by tacking on an additional wish list. >> the same dynamic we have seen a lot of big spending fights, the need to exchange these
1:09 am
enhanced unemployment benefits and do certain numbers of things and they are for all that but we've seen these additional governments and at the end the end up getting what they want because of the enormous pressure to provide this needed relief. >> reporter: some of the items are the $3 trillion to this package, rebates for illegal immigrants, voter id requirements, and cannabis related businesses. jillian: bill diblasio admits the city's own rules before painting black lives matter murals, normally they need permits. >> that is something that
1:10 am
transcends all normal realities because this has to be said and done. a decision i made but the normal process continues for anyone who wants to apply it. jillian: diblasio have been criticized -- regular approval from the city. >> 9 minutes after the hour, former president obama releasing his first wave of endorsements but one notable name is missing. aoc. >> no surprise she was left off the list. she joins us live next to explain.
1:13 am
1:14 am
it is good to see you as always. what is your take away from her name being absent? >> the take away is pretty clear. president obama has never been a far left politician, her policies go further and further left, she will separate herself from moderate candidates like president obama. moderate politicians like president obama. i don't think she is surprised either. rob: here's what obama says about his endorsement, these candidates will help us redeem our country's promise by sticking up for working people, restoring fairness and opportunity to our system and fighting for the good of all americans and here are the new york candidates endorsed by president obama. max rose we had on the show numerous times. how important is the obama endorsement for candidates
1:15 am
especially with his former vp running for president? >> very important for people to say they have the endorsement -- it is a report for people to say they have the endorsement of former president obama but at the end of the this doesn't come down to endorsements. it comes down to candidates that are putting in work in the communities. folks are happy with aoc so far even though she has switched up a little bit from being file after calling on nancy pelosi mama bear. over time it is going to show if she's going to stand on the same principles she was elected for become more of a moderate candidate. endorsements don't really make a difference. >> a little delay issues what we are doing with but let's move forward with the next topic.
1:16 am
bernie sanders are feeling plans to elect joe biden and push him far left. is that going to be enough. here's what he has to say on that. >> we are engaged in coalition politics. we are going to fight out our differences after biden is elected. we will do everything we can to make the biden administration most progressive administration it can become. >> what do you think of that? joe biden is not as far left as the bernie sanders of the way, the aocs of the world but do you think he gets pushed even farther left? >> i think joe biden, vice president joe biden, it is irresponsible for bernie sanders to continue to keep selling this pipedream to those who supported him. the bottom line is senator sanders loss the election, conceded to joe biden. those policies are not changing, he is not endorsed medicare for all and he won't. there is no such thing as all of a sudden we will change your
1:17 am
position. folks are interested in medicare for all of those progressive policies would be better to spend your time putting someone else in 2024 but it is not happening even if biden is elected. i believe bernie sanders is being weekend irresponsible by selling his voters this pipedream that is not going to happen. >> the biden camps as they are ready to debate. a new york times op-ed says no debates, shouldn't have them. what do you think? should we have debates? >> absolutely we should have debates. i'm a fan of debates. i'm sitting here on fox news. i love folks being able to talk the talk and walk the walk. if joe biden says he is prepared we will see.
1:18 am
we know that donald trump whether people agree with him or not is certainly entertaining. i don't think it will be an easy debate but cowering and hiding in the bushes and saying i don't want to debate would be a week move. we will see if he is ready. i will be there with popcorn in hand and covering it on fox news live. shannon: we would love you to join us, thank you. good to see you. todd: a symbolic moment construction restarts on a church destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. >> a spokesman from the church joins us next. >> to open is a sign of love, not hate, not prejudice. awesome internet.
1:20 am
1:21 am
1:22 am
the ashes of 9/11. we are going to build back the way be built back from 9/11, more faith and spirit of community than ever before. jillian: almost 20 years in the making, the iconic greek orthodox church destroyed during the 9/11 attacks reaching construction. todd: joining us to explain how symbolic this rebuild is, thanks for being here. what does this mean? >> thanks for having me. this rebuild is one of the last pieces of the puzzle, the memorial fountains have been open, all of these buildings are open and it is the church that is the last piece that will bring the sense of solidarity to the visitor.
1:23 am
we often think about going down to that, many of us have been to world trade center and you can go through the museum and learn about what happened in the memorial and you can have that private moment but for many people there is a desire to have something more and that is what nicholas serves for all the people of lower manhattan, the place of solace, that place of peace, that place of peace is coming back with the finishing and reopening of saint nicholas next year. shannon: the goal is to have it open on september 11th, 2021, the twentieth anniversary of the attack, tell me in the last almost 20 years, 19 years at this point what it has taken to get to this point. >> it has been a long journey over the past almost 20 years. for many years many of us remember there was a protracted battle with the port authority over the location of where the
1:24 am
church was going to be. it ended up in its final location on the corner of liberty street, in 2015 we were able to begin construction, we had to shut down in 2017 due to some internal struggles but yesterday was a moment of joy. it was a moment of praise, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and being able to realize this is what is going to bring it together, not just new yorkers who have been waiting for the church to open but people from all over the country, all over the world. i've done tours of the site for people, groups from all across the world waiting for saint nicholas to open and waiting to be able to find that house of prayer in the midst of the chaos of lower manhattan. >> what message does your rebuild send to want to those who do us harm? >> the mission of saint nicholas
1:25 am
is about rebirth. in the days following 9/11 when the church, we realized we had lost the church there was not depression or despair among the people, they gathered their things and they began praying. the essence of saint nicholas, this community and this church has always been in the end goodwill prevail over evil and that is what we will see as saint nicholas continues to rise up in the construction project and opens next year. jillian: we could not be more excited to see when it is finally open to commemorate that twentieth anniversary, thank you for joining us and sharing this news, we appreciate it. have a good day. todd: a 7-year-old boy shot and

>> extreme weather, isaias downgraded to a tropical storm, the system better in the carolinas, knocking out power to thousands. >> reporter: we are in the call after the storm, downgraded to a tropical storm, menacing the southeastern parts of virginia as it moves northward. the hurricane made landfall just
1:30 am
after 11:00 last night hitting ocean oils, north carolina bringing with it winds of 85 miles per hour, have category one hurricane strength and a lot of floodwaters, we saw streets get flooded 3 feet deep, cars get inundated with water. unexpected consequence is a number of structure fires were sparked. the fire department said they were battling a number of structure fires last night. shaking the injuries, hurricane downgraded to a tropical storm, racing northward. authorities are preparing. >> janice dean tracking the storm's path from the very beginning and working its way up the east coast. >> janice: we are not done yet and the potential for tornadoes with landfalling tropical systems, week tornadoes are a possibility and a tornado watch
1:31 am
in effect but ocean isle beach, between myrtle beach and wilmington which is where the national hurricane center said we would have landfall. here's what we are dealing with, 75 mile-per-hour sustained wind, strong tropical storm moving through portions of north carolina, virginia, there is your tornado watch, north of virginia beach towards richmond, virginia. that severe threat is going to be ongoing across new england as well so that the tornado threat through this evening. the risk for week tornadoes that could cause structural damage and several inches of rain in a short time are going to cause
1:32 am
flooding, flooding is the number one cause of death when it comes to landfalling tropical systems so there's the forecast precipitation. north of richmond towards burlington, vermont, the flash flooding threat is going to be ongoing and tropical storm watches from the mid-atlantic to the northeast. we've not had a tropical storm warning or watch in new england in nine years. that's very significant and we watch it. we are not done with this storm yet. moving to the northeast and the power outages as well will be prevalent. >> is lawlessness erupt across the country a 7-year-old boy is shot and killed in west philadelphia making in the 20 fourth child to lose their life
1:33 am
to gun violence in the city this year. joining me with reaction is doctor darren porcher and trump 2020 advisory board member steve cardigan. thank you for being here, appreciate it. let's pull that picture back up. i want everyone at home to take a look, you see a child 7 years old, that beautiful face right there was playing on his front porch on saturday in west philadelphia when he was caught in the middle of across fire and he spent more the day in the hospital fighting for his life. when are people going to look at these photos and get angry and say enough is enough? >> if you read the tea leaves in connection with the defunding of police will reflect when you receive police services year now
1:34 am
commit to the level of anarchy in these communities. what happened in new york just recently, we had a one-year-old shot and killed but as relates to receding police resources of philadelphia is no different. they are experiencing the same results so when we see a 7-year-old shot in connection with gun violence, it is apparent we need more police services and more resources in these communities as opposed to recession of these resources. we need to sit at the table and understands we need to employ more resources particularly communities of color because they are under seized, i don't believe elected officials again. shannon: let's look at the numbers, myers lost a gun violence since 2020, 449 people under the age of 18 killed by
1:35 am
gun violence and look at the map of homicides, increase in cities from this time a year ago, philadelphia 31%, new york 23%, chicago 52%, austin 64%, phoenix 71% to name a few. what do you think when you hear these numbers and see that? >> we lost lamar jones in philadelphia over the weekend, we lost a 9-year-old boy in chicago. these incidents are primarily gaining related and disputes over drugs, disputes over territory, disputes over money. they are all gaining related. what we are seeing is we have cities emptying out, ridding these cities of tax base income. we are seeing recently in westchester county we've had an influx of people paying full and above asking price, cash, so
1:36 am
when these base paying individuals leave their communities, what is left are the poor people that can't move out. you will see this continue until such time as they provide the resources that will stop them. new york city, all major cities, first thing they defunded was one of the most important and it was their street crime units, people getting guns off the street. shannon: you have situations like that, dying the by gun violence, just tragic and police officers out there doing their job trying to do their job, they are targeted all across the country, starting in washington where police officer found the pig lives your message written on the street in front of their home, you see the picture of it right there heading to colorado where a police officer discovered and i can't breathe sign had been written on his packaging after purchasing a
1:37 am
meal at a local restaurant, while in illinois there was an employee arrested on friday at a local restaurant because the trooper discovered a large thick piece of mucus which was confirmed to be saliva after that. what do you say to officers who are trying to do their job and are up against it? >> the officers have to soldier on in the wake of the anarchy plaguing our society. the solution to this would be a negotiation between police, elected officials and community leaders. the triangulation of those components should comprise a solution that can be rolled out into these communities, police are there to help with public service. they just haven't been done because there's been a cantankerous relationship between police, elected officials in the community
1:38 am
leaders, so we need to sit down and have a smart conversation between those three entities so we can roll out the necessary solution because it is not happening in this anarchy continues to get worse and worse as we see what is happening, bad slogans placed in front of their homes and things to that effect. >> only a few seconds left but in that time what do you want america to know about this line of duty, the end of the day if you are lucky enough to go home at night you are a human being like the rest of us? looks like we lost steve's audio. can you talk about that for a couple seconds. >> the police will do what they have to do because they will soldier on and it is one of those things, really unfortunate we have a public refuting what officers are doing.
1:39 am
but it is time to coalesce and move forward as the great nation we are. >> i'm said we lost your audio. we will try to get you back and talk to both of you very soon, thank you for your time, appreciate it. one sheriff empowering his community. >> we want to be prepared. that is why i have created a citizens posse giving people like you the opportunity to learn the basis. >> a lot of deputize as law-abiding americans. >> she has gold medals. now olympian katie k pulling off an amazing feat through a got milk promotion is the social media response to this incredible stunned when "fox and friends first" rolls along.

1:46 am
>> this is amazing. five time olympic gold medalist so good in the water, she can swim the entire length of the pool with a glass of milk on her head without spilling a drop. she posted the video on twitter writing one of the best swims of my career, open for debate. what can you do without spilling a drop? check out the got milk coverage, this is part of the got milk campaign but i have a feeling nobody is going to create as cool a video. that was impressive. there has to be tape on their or something. incredible core strength to keep her head straight. good for her. todd: i stillwater when i walk from my kitchen to my living room.

legal system. absolutely gut wrenching video. what was your reaction? >> having been a homicide prosecutor for so many years of my life where i worked with the husband and agent in law school, something that hit you at home, somebody that you know in the profession and it is so senseless, 20-year-old paid the price for some maniac and depraved monster, the gut wrenching way she articulated, and for so long, prosecutors and judges are at risk every day. i have had many death threats against me, judges have them all
1:53 am
the time and no one listens. it takes time but eventually something crazy like this will happen. on our data and information, people i have put away for decades and judges who have done the same thing on federal and state level are in harm's way with all our data on the internet. all you can do if you find something or get some information base around your house or put a detective in your home. happen to be many times and after a while they come but there are a lot of maniacs out there and judges in defense lawyers too are at risk of this, this is not the first epic be the last. somebody do something to protect the judges and i said prosecutors and defense lawyers as well.
