unbelievable. congrats.. have a great signing. >> sean: i'm grateful. >> laura: i'm laura ingraham and this is "the ingraham angle" from another busy washington. montgomery county, maryland, officials continue to park at and religious schools, feignings concerns for their health on this reopening of schools question. on the video you aren't going to see anywhere else, county officials throw down the race card to try to silence parents who want the school open. independent generalist andy ngo has documented the chaos in portland for years. he traveled all the way to capitol hill to give his first-hand accounts. what was the reaction from democrats? he's going to tell us h exclusively and he's really mad. you don't want to miss that. but first, the real covid record. that's the focus of tonight's angle. for months now, the media and frankly most democrats have been acting as though president trump
11:02 pm
is directly responsible for every case of covid-19 in the u.s. back in march, the angle like many were dismayed that the cdcc initially mishandled the testing. thankfully today we lead the world in testing. >> we do more testing than anybody in the world. if you look at india, they are at about 11 million and we are at 61 million. what we do is incredible with the testing and we want to be able to test specifically the people who are the most au in the most danger, the most in need. >> laura: excellent answer and the constant belittling of the administration's efforts is deeply unfair and almost entirely political. we are going to set this record straight. we start with the biggest lies peddled by the left. first, that the president doesn't take the pandemic seriously. >> let's not forget he
11:03 pm
downplayed the virus for months. >> what has happened here is donald trump has downplayed this virus since the beginning. speak of this man is determined to keep down his golf handicap, not the number of cases making us sick. >> the president said the virus is a hoax. >> laura: while the democrats are hyperventilating over the bogus impeachment hearings and the media was bemoaning anti-china bias in the reaction initially to the virus, the administration created a covid task forest january 29th. a few weeks later he ordered a public health emergency and ordered any u.s. citizens traveling from china to quarantine for 14 days. february 22nd, trump's travel ban for china went into effect, then the president went on to ban travel from europe. a lot of people unhappy with that. both of those actions have been applauded by the left's biggest
11:04 pm
hero. >> were you involved in working with president trump on deciding to ban flights from china. >> yes, i was. ultimately we saw spread in europe and the president recommended that we extend that to europe, did you think that physicians save lives? >> yes i do.id >> laura: bingo. the white house didn't do enough to alleviate the medical supply shortage. speak of the country facing yet another dangerous shortage of ppe and medical equipment supplies. >> right now this country cannot beat coronavirus without more ppe. we had a shortage. >> we had to reset, surge in cases, long lines, and london of ppe and trump doing exactly what ahe did in march and april whih is to minimize. >> laura: the president invoked ththe president wisely used the
11:05 pm
act only when businesses didn'tu voluntarily devote assembly lines to producing ppes, ventilators, other much needed supplies. when andrew cuomomo projected, they needed as many as 30000-40000 vents, we told you that figure was absurd, but the white house kicked into high gear and the way. there was a mass mobilization of resources, including setting up field hospitals in new york and using may be navy ships that were hardly utilized. it was all done to ensure the tri-state area's hospital system didn't ultimately collapse.t? and guess what? it didn't. and when we were three months out from a presidential election, andrew cuomo regularly acknowledged the billions in help. speak of the president brought in the army corps of engineers that build 2500 beds at javits. these were extraordinary efforts
11:06 pm
and acts of mobilization. and the federal government stepped up and was a great partner. i'm the first want to say it.d we needed help and they were there. >> laura: just yesterday he waste trashing me on the trump administration very nice going, and d. this whopper, speaking of new york, that new york is somehow the gold standard for the rest of america. >> they've been flat line the last four weeks. that's an example of what can be gone done. >> he did at the right way from march 11th. >> not do this if you want language, but firm language. life-saving mandates by our leaders. he clearly was listening to his health advisors. >> laura: unlike the liberal media, numbersbe don't lie.ie we hear a lot about florida, arizona, texas not following in cuomo's footsteps. but look at this chart. the death rate per 100,000 in new york is over three times the
11:07 pm
death rate in arizona. nearly five times the death rati in florida. and over six times a death rate in texas. no wonder new york's top health official resigned today. when the media harps on our covid death numbers, national numbers, they failed to mention the states with the highest numbers. >> new york had a very tough time, as you know. new york, new jersey. when you take that out, our numbers are amongst the lowest. >> laura: the president loves new york but the notion the states should be taking advice from governor cuomo or anyone, frankly, who presided over the disaster in the empire state, is just absurd. fourth live. the left falsely blames trump for the economy tanking last quarter. >> the handling of the coronavirus pandemic is not good for the president. that is bad news for the economy. >> decimated our economy.
11:08 pm
>> our economy's worst drop ever. ever, okay? 32.9%. >> laura: the last claim you heard about u.s. gdp.9 strengthening 32.9% in the second quarter this year is insanely misleading. while it's technically true, the figure represents an annualized number. it was the amount of a decline that would take place over a year if trends from the second quarter continued. would only happen if we followed biden's recommendation tore shut down the economy and keep kids out of schools, thus parents out of works. on a nonannualized basis, the decline from q1 to q2 2020 was only 9.5%. that's still a staggering loss, don't get me wrong. but when we can actually quickly recover from if trump is able to continue with his pro-freedom agenda.no of course, once you dig into the numbers, it's easy to see which
11:09 pm
states are holding back a full-fledged recovery. the blue ones! nevada and hawaii have an excuse because of the problems resulting from tourism, but why are all these other states on this list still doing poorly? because they failed to take president trump's advice and rather trusting their people, they imposed drastic lockdown measures that had catastrophic economic consequences while doing very little to stop the virus. it is also worth remembering where this virus came from: china. why aren't democrats clamoring to hold them accountable for unleashing this play on the world after they initially tried to coverri it up? for that matter, why are democrats pushing for more funding to theg w.h.o. which aided and abetted china's lies? for fly. >> despite the dismal performance of locked down loving blue states, democrats still complain that we didn't follow europe's lead in the
11:10 pm
handling of covid. >> we did not wait to crush the curve in europe. they did the exact opposite. >> compared to europe, we have to get our virus under control like they did before we can start reopening schools. >> the number of new daily coronavirus cases in the united states than those in europe. it shows just how much worse the outbreak has been in the united states. >> laura: looking at the numbers, you have to remember that the u.s. is an enormous country with about 230 million people. when you add the populations of germany, britain, france, italy, spain, and belgium, they are together have almost 336 millio people. that's roughly equal to our population. first off on testing, we have performed better than those six european western countries. they have done 42.8 million tests for covid-19. we have done 59.9 million.
11:11 pm
since we've performed more many tests, we can't really do an apples-to-apples comparison on confirmed to be 26 test numbers but we can look at deaths. we have suffered, we 768,000 deaths, a horrific tragedy. the six european countries combined have suffered roughly 159,000 deaths. an equal and horrific tragedy. likewise, are death rates are lower than many of our european counterparts. belgium, the u.k., spain, italy, have seen way worse death rates than we have. france is only doing slightly better than we d are in terms of deaths as well. but we also have to recognize is the u.s. is a massive country. if you break it down by state, it's clear that democrat states are the reason that the death rates are so high. just happens to work out that way, right?y we can also say that our economy has done significantly better than europe's.
11:12 pm
remember the u.s. economy fell by 9.5% on a quarterly basis. the eurozone, the economies of all the nations that use the euro, fell by 12.1%. even germany suffered a decline of 10.1%. but aren't the europeans going to do better than us going forward? not what investors think that let's look at how the key stock indices have done since the beginning of the year. in other words, investors are not betting that western european companies are more valuable than their american counterparts. if anything, their bets are all the other way. so we performed a 17 million more test than our counterparts in e western europe. we have roughly the same number of deaths. our economy, though is much stronger. and investors have more confidence in our outlook going forward. but while these figures clearly show the u.s. is doing very well by comparison to our allies in europe, they don't give
11:13 pm
president trump enough credit. because the u.s. figures are distorted by the poor performance of many of the blue state governors. here are the facts. the u.s. as a whole suffered 48 deaths per 100,000 from covid-19. but seven states have suffered deaths a rate higher than even spain did. you see the catastrophic results ofoo poor local governments, especially in and around new york city. new york death rate was two and a half times worse than spain. in the meantime, we should all be grateful that during this unprecedented crisis, president trump has insulated most of the country from the disastrous top-down policies and lockdowns and looting, frankly, the democrats seem to want to look the other way on. thank goodness. and that's the angle. and the part two tomorrow night, we are going to journey through the crisis as it could have unfolded under the leadership of joe biden. but joining me now is a governor
11:14 pm
who refused to give into the left's demands of lockdown requests, governor kristi noem of south dakota. governor, great to have you on tonight. you have been lambasted in the press for not stripping your residence of their basic freedoms and their right to work and go to school. but here we are about six months into this pandemic in south dakota still has a death rate of 11 times lower than new york's per 100,000 people. amazing. >> we are doing very well, laura. that's the story that needs to be told. i trusted my people, they trusted me, they took personal responsibility for dealing with the virus, and we are doing very well. not only do we have one of the lowest death rates, we have got about 40 people that are in the hospital statewide. our infection rates are low. our job losses are low. our economy is doing better virtually than any other state and i think the real testimony to what could've been possible
11:15 pm
in many other states, the governors just made the wrong decision. >> laura: despite this overwhelming evidence, governor, including from your state, the left is still urging national lockdowns. watch. >> lockdowns work. quarantines work. isolation works. wearing masks work. contact tracing works. we aren't doing them. if we would lockdown hard for six months, we could get the case testing down so our contact tracing was enough to actually control it. >> laura: governor, your state proves this is just not the case we don't needd to strip theth people of their freedom to fight the virus. >> what works is washing your hands.nd making good decisions. i think what we are seeing there is encouraging leaders to make the citizens where they will overstep theirep authorities ina time of crisis. that's how we lose this country,
11:16 pm
laura. that's exactly what's happening, we are allowing them to take control of our country in the way we haven't seen before. we need a few people to stand up up, read our history, talk about the importance of our constitution, and the fact these governors need to recognize that they need to uphold the freedoms we hold so dear and allow those people to take care of our families and make the right decision and deal with this virus much like we do every other challenge that comes our way and americans tackle it together. what i'm frustrated by -- go ahead. >> laura: what would've happened to your state's economy had we listened to this dr. hazel stein or any of these other officials, neel kashkari at the fed, i don't know why he's in as expert on this. what would happen to your economy and people? >> we would be devastated. families would've lost their homes. we would've seen so many more people still continue to get sick, still be hospitalized, but
11:17 pm
they'd bewo doing it with less resources to take care of each other and less of an ability to really go forward and provide for their families. that is the challenge here. our state is so diverse, we have very urban areas but we have a also very rural areas and a blanket approach doesn't make sense for the entire state of south dakota. it doesn't make sense for this entire country. that's why we need local leaders to trust people in their communities to make the decisions thatat work best for them. we also need them to be optimistic, laura. this negativity we hear from leaders and doctors about how terrible the situation is in our country? we are in a good spot. we are driving down our death rates. the virus is moving across the country but we are taking care of people. they are getting the resources, the administration has helped governors respond to their people. i worry about these kids and turn on the news and hear their parents talking about being scared and hearing news anchor is talking about being worried and doctors...de
11:18 pm
we wonder why our kids aregl struggling with anxiety. let's be optimistic. >> laura: there is concern about this big motorcycle rally that's happening this weekend in south dakota and we don't have to play the sound bites, all on television, the cable news, how dare you, it's going to become a super spreader event, governor. look at all those people. look at how they gather. >> we've had several big events and south dakota already. we've had the first spectator attended professional sport, the professional bull riding was held in south dakota. we had the july 3rd event and saw no increase in cases because of that crowd that gathered to celebrate our country's freedom cand independence.ng we had been gathering back to normal for a few months here in south dakota. we know we can have these events, give people information, let them protect their health,ro but still enjoy their way of life and enjoy events like the sturgis motorcycle rally. we hope people come. how economy benefits when people come and visit us.
11:19 pm
>> laura: lucky residents and citizens of the great state of south dakota, we are stuck in the d.c. l metropolitan area wih horrible leadership and, governor, we wish you the best of luck this weekend in going forward and check back with us soon. >> thank you, laura. appreciate it. >> laura: charges of racism and claims that parents who send their kids to private and religious schools don't care about kids getting infected or teachers are or any of that. some of the outrageous moments that came out of this one montgomery county, maryland, meeting as they try to shut down in person teaching. we have the latest explosive developments with a parent helping sue the county. stay there. this isn't just a wifi upgrade.

♪ >> lau >> laura: last night, we told you about these petty little tyrants runningiv montgomery county, maryland. they tried to force private religious schools to close to in person learning. this is a naked power grab to appease the teachers union and punish people that were trying to escape the county's insane public school closure. despite an emergency order from maryland governor larry hogan to block that move, county officials claim today they can still stop them from reopening. >> if there are any outbreaks,

11:27 pm
>> laura: right. teresa, you just mention him so everybody knows who we are talking about. montgomery county's top health official dr. travis gail. here is what he said at this council meeting today. watch. >> low transmissions in cases, it's eight or nine cases a day? we are not there. w the principle we are trying to get folks to understand is that in order for this to be done safely, it needs toe be done ina setting of low community translatintransmission. >> laura: where is he getting these numbers? 8-9 cases per day in a county of 1.1 million where kids can go to school? i don't know where he's possibly coming up with this. it's absurd. >> wright, laura. i think everyone is confused. dr. gales is saying he's relying on your data. we have yet to understand what that means.
11:28 pm
the order came friday night under the cover of darkness. he did not share it with the schools on how he came to this conclusion. we don't understand what he is really saying when he says we are relying on that, those numbers, because you are right, the population in montgomery county is over a million people, so to have a low rates, eight cases a day, is virtually impossible. which means the schools would never reopen. it's unclear. one of the council members todae sent him a letter asking him those questions, which is really telling that these council members idea. the data that he was replying -- excuse me, relying on. >> laura: no. i've got to play this before we go. one montgomery county councilman didn't hide his complete disdain for independent schools. watch. >> he has stated for some reason it's okay for children in private schools to be more at risk than it is for children in

11:30 pm
public schools and the governorn and the superintendent said private schools, you have the right to determine, the absolute right to determine whether to remain open or closed, but at that time given the situation and the stay at home orders that were in effect, the school is closed. we are in a much different place, but this order was unilaterally decided by this director of health who just doesn't have the power to make that decision. >> laura: just one sentence from you, to parents watching this across the country who are facing a similar edict handed down from an unelected official, but an appointed official. your method to message to them, one sentence. >> my message of them would be to continue to fight and there is a lawsuit filed in federal court. likely going to be a hearing soon, injunctive relief, we are seeking. you cannot defy it and let

it is a vote for biden going to quell these types of anarchists? yes or no? >> no, not at all. you don't have to take my word about it, but you can look at their own literature and what they show and what they say, they call very clearly for the abolishment of the u.s. but in their vision there are no room for democrats, there are no room for liberals. so i don't know right now why the democrat lawmakers are so hesitant to be critical of antifa, maybe because they have fallen for the foolish believes that antifa are actually antifascist. >> laura: i think what they believe is, sarah, and helps them politically. if they thought it wasn't going to help them politically, they would put distance between themselves and antifa. but they are not going to do that, right? >> you are right, laura. they are not going to do that but the issue here is not only are they not going to do that but they are going to take this
