sean will be back on monday, big week next week, joe biden will announce his vice president nominee and you want to stay tuned to fox news to know all about it. criminologist, and they said everything they could find, pictures of official notices and so forth to guess about what was happening in the soviet union. after all, you had to try to figure things out. but these days, i think we need biden-oh it just given 90% of the time biden and his campaign are closed off to real questions or scrutiny but every once in a while, biden emerges and immediately starts to reveal his real agenda. >> someone said trump's stance has a good one to counter china's influence. would you keep the terrorists? no, hey, look. who said trumps idea is a good one? we are going after china and a wrong way. >> laura: welcome of the entire 24-hour at period that followed that exchange, his campaign and the media allies tried to clean it all up claimig biden didn't really mean what

he said on terrorists, get rid of them. a biden aid telling bloomberg yesterday his position is unchanged. he would reevaluate the tariff upon taking office. he was obviously responding to the notion that trumps stance is a good one to counter china. nice try, kids as if we didn't hear the word no in response to the question whether he would keep the tariff spirit now, this is where biden-elegy comes in. stay with me here. biden's team issued a statement that was supposedly written by the former vp himself. and what that means is that the statement was approved and vetted by his entire economic team and it included the following key passage. trumps phase one trade deal with china is failing badly, even before the pandemic, trump go it alone trade war was hammering american workers, small businesses, and farmers.
7:03 pm
well, we bidenology-all it just sends an important signal to the swamp. it means that biden will not use his authority as president to impose tariffs on china and that he will list the tariffs imposed by president trump. furthermore, it means he will not take any actions against china unless they are supported by significant walk of other countries, which means as a practical matter, the european union, now you seek him otherwise, he would be "going alone." that is exactly what he is saying he won't do. the europeans are cutting deals left and right with china, and they will never agree to place tariffs on them period. the obama/biden answer to china, back in 2015 was the nightmare ppp, the trans-pacific partnership and by the way it was so unpopular back home that even hillary clinton one of the

most committed globalist who ever lived said that the tpp would kill jobs and she ran against it. but biden still believes in the tpp although maybe with a few save -- face-saving tweets. >> i would not join the tpp as it was initially put forward to. i would insist that we renegotiate pieces of that with pacific nations that we had in south america and north america so that we can bring them together to hold china accountable. >> laura: what gibberish. he can even get the acronym right, tpp, joe. and i would not pay attention to negotiation language. the other tpp countries, why would we negotiate you and obama agreed to? and they would be right. you might see a few little changes here and there to help biden politically, but then we would be right back to a big push to join the job killing tpp. >> for eight, long years under

obama/biden administration from american factory workers received nothing but broken promises and brazen sellouts and lost jobs. and over the next four years, our pharmaceutical and medical supply chains, we will bring them home. and we will never rely on china. >> laura: the choice could not be clearer. you have a president in trump who spent real political capital. he cut on ending grief in order to get leverage over china. and he forced them to change their ways or be cut out of the market altogether. now biden's team decided to destroy all that leverage and return to the failed obama approach to appeasement and trade policy. now, they will tell you they intend to rally the world against china, but their own record shows they have no chance of accomplishing that goal. this leaves a huge win for the

necessity. and that is "the angle." joining me now newt gingrich former speaker of the house, fox news contributor and author of "trump in the american future." mr. speaker, so good to see you back tonight. given biden's deflecting on china and trade, he clearly said he would get rid of tariffs, spilling the beans in that interview a few days ago. just tell vulnerable are the democrats on this preeminent china? >> if you watch senator feinstein, he said last week that we should all be very proud of how much china has made that it has become a normal country. at the time, you are now getting a probe of chinese communist democratic party. and you look at biden's beaches in china where he's been at chinese universities, it is amazing how much he embraces the dictatorship and all of the

things that they are doing. so i think there is a huge vulnerability because the democrats don't want to deal with the reality of china, and they don't want to deal with the reality of president striping. and i think that will be more obvious as this campaign goes on. >> laura: how tough biden was on china when he was vice president. >> china has made remarkable, remarkable strides in the past 20 years with a half a billion people lifted out of poverty. projected progress the next ten years was going to be met and exceeded. this is a great achievement. and there is much more to come. >> laura: newt gingrich, it sounds like he is applauding china five years ago. >> i think he was and i think he still is. and you know, he just said earlier this year, come on, guys, they are not really a threat to us.

that is a statement when he was still in the primaries. so he hasn't changed much. i think the entire democratic party not only wants to defund the police, but they want to defund defense and they want to live in a world they can pretend there are no predators either at home or abroad. it is a very dangerous position. >> laura: turning to that issue, newt gingrich, engulfing certain american cities and decline in certain american cities but the decline of protest in portland, now the feds essentially moved back, but now, the mayor of portland thatd wheeler is admitting that basically stuff is going to pot. >> we anticipate planned attacks on occupied public buildings over the next few days. i believe the city staff could have died last night. i cannot and i will not tolerate that. this is not peaceful protests. this is not advocacy to advance

7:13 pm
take back the universities. and i think a lot of governors, frankly, aren't doing their jobs when they allow public universities to be ran by people who are radically anti-american. this is a very dangerous moment in our history. we will not compete with china. if we insist on having schools or the unions won't teach and what they teach is not true and present baltimore, entire buildings with not a single student to pass the state exam. >> laura: that is a disgrace. >> that is a recipe for us being destroyed. >> laura: mr. speaker, that is so great to see you back. thank you for joining us tonight. you take care. joe biden leading president trump and certain poles and key swing states, but then again, so was hillary in august 2016. the real clear politics average that time had hillary clinton beating trump in florida by less than a point but of course she ended up losing in that state about the same margin. right now the average has biden

up by four points. likewise clinton led by 8.3 points in pennsylvania in augus. she lost there as well. biden's lead is 4.7 points in pennsylvania. hillary led by 5.5 points in wisconsin four years ago. you all know what happened there must be biden's lead in the badger state, five points. here to tell us what this might mean for this coming election is tom bevan cofounder and president of real clear politics. tom, everyone is asking me this questions and i go travel and meet people. or people afraid to say what they think? are the poles overstating support for democrats again. what is your sense given what people are seeing now? >> welcome again to my think we talked about this before. i talked to robert and there was a release of a point michigan and he is saying that shy effect
7:15 pm
with social desirability, bias and when respondents don't want to tell posters exactly what they think. he is saying that more this time around than last time around. he is also finding some trump supporter's who are hidden and the undecided vote. they just won't tell pollsters and when you push them and say if the election were today, who would you vote for? so it is really hard to get a handle on exactly how much that is, how big that number could be in some of the states. and so we will see. and again, the trump campaign, they say they are very competitive in the states and even leading and polling. now clearly, they are counting on different folks to be turning out election day than the public pollsters are. we will see who is right and who was wrong when the polls are taken on election day. >> laura: tom, let's turn to michigan. the hill is reporting the trump campaign has halted new ad lies
7:16 pm
in recent days? it shows that biden is widening his lead in the state? but rnc showed clinton ahead by 6.2. in august. so what does this mean for biden supposedly widening leads and whitmer's draconian lockdown, really is popular in michigan? >> well, biden certainly has a decent size lead and has had a lead in michigan, but the last poles we have taken we have seen trump gaining ground, even this bowl that came out today that shows biden with a ten-point lead in michigan, that is down five points where he was a few months ago so we have seen them actually closing in michigan. so i'm not exactly sure. i wouldn't read too much into it at this point. the advertising aspect of this. but clearly, michigan is saying that the trump campaign very much, they will continue to contest it until election day.
