kind of just flows back through. >> laura: now more ofhr these riveting stories of ruin and hope later on in the show. now as we walked to east lake street today, i kept thinking about how so many of the good people there -- they justd can't get a break. their votes have been taken for granted for decades. and when they needed safety most, the political leaders were nowhere to be found. now when the governor finally mobilized and accepted federal help, it was too late for many people in the neighborhood. criminals and rioters? they were able to flatten livelihoods and terrorize those who deserve safety and peace ofi mind. now here in minneapolis, let's use the tragic death of mr. floyd for the devastation. and over the next several weeks, and portland, they blame the violence onhe president trump.

it was just as pathetic. >> the whole presence is just has the opposite effect. >> president trump is making trouble. we know what today's. this perverse pandering to white americans. >> trump continuing to focus on and perhaps even fueled the already volatile situation between law enforcement and protesters. >> laura: but now we see that it was all a lie. more chaos occurred over the weekend. l days after the federal presence retreated. mayor ted wheeler should apologize and then resign. but he won't. he did however finally have to admit it's not a peaceful protest. >> when you commit arson with an excel event in an attempt to burn down the building that is occupied by people that you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating. you are attempting to commit

murder. we anticipate additional attacks over the next few days. i cannot, and i will not, tolerate that. >> laura: now i think chicago's looters felt left out of the fun. they went wild last night taking all of the action to downtown to the same magnificent mile shopping district. it was also brazen that they drove up to luxury stores and loaded up on merchandise. but the police were too overwhelmed to stop all of them. now let's remember, this is happening. not because of george floyd, not happening because of police brutality or some altercation earlier in the afternoon. this is happening because of 50 years of terrible leadership in these cities, a breakdown in the family, lack of father figures, we all know that. it is culminating in a summer of

annihilation. you can destroy property, you can get away with it. you can steal from stores in broad daylight and get away with it. you can brutally beat and assent by standards, and you will get away with it. and of course, you can march by the thousands with zero social g distancing during a pandemic and get away with it. now for months, officials and the media -- they alternatively tolerated all of this. while hassling the rest of us for wanting us to have our kids go to school or have college football or to have an outdoor picnic.. which is what mayor lori lightfoot was focused on just hours before the chaos in downtown. "it's called a pandemic people," she tweeted. this reckless behavior on the beach is what will cause us to shut down the parks and late

front. reckless behavior? what's reckless is your leadership. along with the leadership of so many of your democrat colleagues across the nation. she is hassling taxpaying citizens out enjoying the sunshine, meanwhile presided over a horrific july. homicides up 139% compared to last year. at least 107 people murdered and 573 shot including 58 minors. now, if that was happening just like mayor wheeler, mayor lightfoot has been blaming president trump for her city'sre problems. >> the trump administration obviously thinks that they will score political points by trying to demonize and make democrats, particularly women mayors, because it will score points. good luck. the mayors are getting it done. to protect residents of the

city, whether or not the president of her steps up not. >> laura: they are getting it done all right. if your version of "getting it done" is what we have been seen for the last several weeks. by the way, caving to the teachers union, did you check that out?ee they are shutting down schools for in person learning. it will all be online. that's going to be great for the kids. another chicago disaster. but the message is clear. no matter how rich and successful city is, or a neighborhood in the city is, it can't be saved from poor democrat leadership. they will cry racism to avoid any accountability for their own failures. and then when it comes time to clean up the mess, everything left behind, they are nowhere to thbe found.

after the dust settles, they will still expect minorities, those hurt most by their god-awful policies, to vote for them without question. otherwise, remember as joe biden said "you ain't black." if the democrats win, the looters will know that they have free reign to attack not just every city and town in the country, but the suburbs as well. and that's exactly what they will do.he "the angle." tonight, we are coming to you live from an area of minneapolis represented by congresswoman ilhan omar, the radical squad member who supports abolishing the minneapolis police department. that's why my next guest is trying to unseat congresswoman omar. joining me now is lacey johnson who is running against her in minnesota's fifth congressional district.

lacey, i was out and about in your district today and i can tell you, i talked to a lot of folks, none of them have seen congresswoman ilhan omar along lake street, not along all of those buildings that have been wrecked and ruined.lo is the city ready to make a change? >> absolutely. and just to piggyback off of what you are pointing out earlier, whether you look at chicago, seattle, portland, san francisco, los angeles, we could go on and on. wherever you find leftist liberals democrats in charge of these cities and these urban areas, you find killing, you find stealing, and you find destruction. importantly, a lot of black communities affected by this, poor communities affected by this. it does not surprise me at all that ms. omar is not seen during this period because we know that her main goals is personal things.

it's not about solving the problems, it's notot about carig for the people of this community, it's not about the people of this community. she's looking for votes from the people of communities like most democrats do and it's all about voting and not about the lives of the people in these communities. >> laura: now, lacy, what i was also gratified to see is how many people want to stay in the community. we are going to hear from them later on in the show. they want tosh stay here. these are good people. people who work 13-14 hour days to launch their businesses and neighborhoods that they love, only to have them destroyed in a matter of hours and no police presence i hear at all now.

there is no police. there's like six police in 14 square miles. obviously, boarded up and no one is there now. but these people are like "this isn't political, this is common sense." nobody is going to come back here unless we have safety. and ilhan omar says this, watch. >> you can't really reform a department that is rotten to the root. the current infrastructure that exists as policing in our city should not exist anymore. and we can't go about creating a different process with the same infrastructure in place. >> laura: what is she talking about? i know there's a complicatedtu process for actually trying to dismantle the police here. the deal with the city council and another organization trying

to slow it down. but what does this mean for the residence? >> it means that she cares more about her political ambition once again. but even more important than that, the whole idea is just insane. it points to the fact that she's just -- doesn't understand the community. i live in this community. and everyone who lives here who has witnessed this, they have had a great increase of robbers, home invasions, murders, and everything in this community. so we know that in politicians talking about defunding the police, de militarizing the police, disarming the police, they are just don't have a clue of what's going on in these communities. and they need to be replaced. omar fits into that category and the people of this community deserve better.

one of the reason i went into politics is because we deserve better leadership than what they areth currently doing. whether you y look at it from te mayors level, any level, they are all doing a disservice to this community. >> laura: at every level in this state, every level has to be looked at. and frankly, turned upside down. after what i saw today i thought i was back in baghdad in 2006. and it was a heartbreak. i got angry watching, really angry for the people here. i'm really glad you are running and i wish you the best of luck. come back soon.rt thanks so much. and thed chaos that started rigt here in minneapolis, the rest of the country has dramatically changed. and while the polls show joe biden head of the president, that lead is drinking. one reason for that is obvious, the democrats decision to align themselves with the anti-cop anti-american radicals ripping apart our cities.

they look at these polls and they think these issues are all going to be static, but they are fluid and volatile.oo we had the first outbreak, the law, and then the second. historically it starts to taper off, and it may well do that in ole united states, already declining. the lockdowns being redefined is whether to go back to school or lynot. the damage on millions of children, people don't realize -- they have to go back to school.cl trump is advocating for that. that's an issue where biden is on the wrong side. the economy is volatile, starting to pick up. cognitively impaired, it seems like. there is a theme now to it. a very volatile situation with the race relations. he keeps coming out with the statements that are bizarre, so realistic about asians all looking alike. insulting a black journalist and professional in suggesting he

might be a junkie or a cocaine addict. that almost resonates earlier things you said in the past about barack obama. when you put that volatile situation and with the vp selection, it's not a static situation. i think trump is doing a lot better. i'm not a big fan of executive orders, but whether we like it or not it's the way that a lot of people act. he has really taken the leadeo without bypassing schumer and pelosi. i think he's got better and more sober advice on the health issues. i think he's much more attuned to the social and economic repercussions of these decisions. with all of that, it explains why he's going down. >> laura: victor, back to the nitty-gritty of safety. and back to minnesota for a osecond. it's emblematic of so much else going on across the country. there is a minnesota bail fund

that all the celebrities gave money to like steve carell and don cheadle, chrissy teigen, seth rogen. $35 million to bailout supposedly "peaceful protesters." these are violent felons allowed to go free. and local fox affiliate reporting among those bailed out from this minnesota freedom fund, a woman accused of killing a friend. and a twice convicted rapist currently charged withpo kidnapping, assault, sexual assault, and $350,000 in cash for his release. how radical are these people? >> they are not serious people. these are people who have private guards, private security, and preferential police to patrol their own enclaves and estates. i don't think we need to take them very seriously at all. this is a class issue now. it transcends race.d

>> this is where it all happened. may 27th, 2 days after the killing of george floyd, the autozone which is right here burned to the ground. then it was target. terribly damaged, destroyed, looted. important for the community, minnesota company of course. and then the precinct abandoned now, but destroyed, burned, and they allowed it to burn. more than ten weeks later, what is happening in this community? what about these businesses that want to rebuild, that want to stay here. what are the road blocks, what are the problems, and how can we move forward? we decided to come here and try to bring you these stories and i hope shed light on what has to happen next.t >> how do you justify burning down someone's business? >> laura: casey white and her husband charles started an

incredible business four years ago. >> i watched the old side come burning to the ground. my husband was asleep and i said "you need to wake up now!" and we sat there and watched it just melt to the ground. all of our hard work. >> people with bats, people at the front windows, hundreds of people went in and looted. then they came back the next night, and the next night. six shires, it's unbelievable. john wolf is a prominent minneapolis business dealer. >> this is the famous door a everybody was coming in and out during the nights of the riots and the looting.

they took as much as they could out of that door. >> they were coming in from the basement, they were coming out here, they were taking shopping carts. >> laura: how much merchandise was taken out? >> a million dollars worth of merchandise. more importantly than that, it's now taken 40 plus jobs away from the people who live in thely neighborhood. who lived, shopped, and work here. what happens to those guys? >> laura: 30 years ago, he came here with his family from ethiopia for a better life. this is what's left of it. this is what happened ten weeks ago at the minneapolis riots.

>> we put our sweat into this building. >> laura: i heard the city had been in touch with you about one issue involving...? >> the city came in and put up with the funds as you see here. and they sent out the bill for $3700. they said they don't have any resources. so the city out that you suppor, the big communities, send you a bill? enough is enough. let's rebuild this community and to stand by it. we let our country for a future to see the american dream. and look how it happened. we have not done anything wrong. the peaceful protest was hijacked, then the government can -- where are they? it's been ten weeks. no response. no response. >> laura: no response. silence was as deafening on the night on the riots. the silence from elected officials is still deafening. larry mckenzie, longtime high school basketball coach,

youth advocates, and north minneapolis. so manyy people love you, larry. it was she could be in the studio with me here. what is it going to take to truly get minneapolis back on its feet?e these are great people. i got a chance to meet so many wonderful people today. these are good neighbors, good people, but they are mad. and they are heartbroken, but they are mad. >> i mean, rightfully so. in terms of what it's going to take, one of the things is a t time around elections and politicians making promises and those kind of things. it's going to take really the community holding those who are in those positions accountable. >> laura: asked a number ofgs the folks i interviewed where the politicians are? they happen to be mostly democrats. they said no one is here. we never hear from them. we call them, they offer sympathy, but they say we have
