1:13 am
thank you for being here. >> thanks for having me. rob: you always wonder when situations escalate to the point where we aren't seeing repercussions what will be next and how much farther will and escalation go, do you think? >> it seems as if it's incident because the lawmakers or i should say that elected officials have failed to produce a moratorium on the violence plaguing the community and we see this happening throughout the us, more specifically communities governed by democratic mayors. something needs to be done. we need to reel in the violence because we are still in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic and it's essential that we utilize the resources of police brother alternatives as opposed to dealing with rioters. rob: is is something we just have to accept coming in every monday morning, the new monday morning normal and reporting on another weekend of attacks on cops?
1:14 am
it seems like every monday at this time we talk about the situation and it's getting worse. >> i totally agree. it's getting worse and it appears as it's the new normal and seems like these protests across the weekend and just metastasizing get greater greater so when we come in monday morning this is what we are speaking to and he goes back to the unfortunate nature of our political leaders in these cities that aren't placing a moratorium on the violence plaguing the communities. something needs to be done in a possible solution hasn't been met the democratic ticket such as biden and harris , they don't appear to have a solution to ending the violence in connection with these demonstrations and so it's a real problem and therefore we have to look at what we have in office now, that being
1:15 am
donald trump and i think he's the only candidate as a steady hand on ending the violence. gillian: to use your words if this is a new normal so to speak and we hope it's not, you look at these numbers, let's use new york city as example violence over the last 24 hours, 20 shootings, 23 victims and 20 people killed and then since thursday, what will want to make people want to join the police department in some of these cities? >> not only is it question when question went to become a cop, but we have enormous meteoric rise and retirements in departments such as the nypd and based on the defund of $1 billion we no longer have the potential backfill to take these officers places and as a result officers are stretched extremely and it's creating an issue in connection with focus
1:16 am
and trying to police to eradicate shootings and violent crimes in the areas and it's really driven by the nature of a mayor such as mayor deblasio who doesn't have a possible solution in deterring crime and putting a solution in place to put us in a better place, so we need to focus on a person. unfortunately, we have to look at the next mayor coming into new york because this mayor has checked out and it's putting the citizens in harms way. rob: specifically in new york city should president trump sending a federal resource, federal response to stop the violence? >> i'm a strong proponent for a federal task force to come in and assist local law enforcement to eradicate the crime because it's clear on a local level it's not happening. rob: thank you. we appreciate your time on these important issues plaguing our country.

jefferson. pastor, thank you for being here. will he be able to siphon off enough evangelicals to win the swing states? >> well, to put it in religious terms joe biden doesn't have aced don't ball chance in hell of moving any significant number of evangelical voters especially as long as he and his running mate run on the most pro- abortion platform in history advocating abortion until the moment a baby is in the birth contact-- birth canal of the mother. most see that as a barbaric. the latest research poll showed 82% of evangelicals plan to vote for president trump , only 17% for joe biden and democrats know they can't win the evangelical vote. what they hope to do is to shape-- shave maybe four or five points off of his evangelical base

to tip the election in six battleground states. rob: you mention abortion and obviously for evangelicals in abortion is a key issue. here's a joe biden's take on abortion a couple of years ago and last year. listen. >> still opposed to public funding for abortion? >> still opposed to public funding for abortion. because to the question of whether or not you impose a view. i think you don't get nearly enough credit, planned parenthood, and that's why we fought so hard for your funding. rob: pastor, which joe biden do evangelicals believe? >> well, they believe the one you heard lately , the one that's been bought and paid for by planned parenthood and its interest in last week 100 pro-life democrats actually wrote the dnc and it joe biden asking them to moderate their abortion view a bit. i really believe joe biden would say i'm for
1:24 am
unrestricted abortion until the eighth month of pregnancy and then no, that's light change would garner him more religious folks, but he can't make that change because he has been bought for, bought by planned parenthood. they find all millions of dollars in his campaign and into the democrat coffers and planned parenthood would not allow any restrictions on their so-called right to murder children. rob: we have done so many stories over the course of the years on the diminution of religion in today's american society, which leads me too the question, are there enough christians out there to make a difference come november 3? >> yes, todd, i believe there are and a lot are silent, but they are stronger and they will turn out november third. i talked to the president recently and said in 2016
1:25 am
evangelicals did it no un voted for you on your promise hoping you would and could fulfill them in four years later they're voting on your accomplishment in the probe religious liberty conservative judiciary arena and that's why i believe there are enough christians out there who will turn out en masse november 3 to vote for this president. >> pastor, we appreciate your time. thank you. >> thank you. >> two officers sent to the hospital after being hit by a 10-pound rock in portland. jillian: plus, targeting genesee in 2020, will they buy into the biden harris ticket? our panel is on deck to debate that next

todd: fox news alert as police officers in the seattle injured after riders shoot fireworks at them. jillian: just the latest in a string of dangerous anti- police demonstrations of this weekend. carly? reporter: disturbing weekend of violence against police officers in seattle police declare a right after several officers were hurt. the departments as some were hit by fireworks. in texas three officers were hurt after he suspect opened fire during a hostage situation. the standoff still underway. >> of the mother called and said her son kicked in the door and was acting aggressive. our officers responded. when they win in the house they were met with gunfire. three of our officers received gunshot wounds from the suspect.
1:30 am
reporter: batman still barricaded with three family members this morning. of the officers are expected to be okay. in chicago police releasing video from a violent clash this weekend. one man wielding a skateboard as a weapon. at least 17 officers were hurt, but the mayor is praising police for their commitment to keeping demonstrations at safe. >> we have also seen people who embedded themselves in these seemingly peaceful protests and come for a fight, so what happened was over quickly because our police department is resolved to make sure we protect peaceful protests. reporter: no peace in portland has two officers were hospitalized after getting hit by rocks saturday. one of them weighed nearly 10 pounds. of the violence has a ripple effect on the entire force as police say more than 60, 911 calls including that, stolen cars in a hit-and-run went

unanswered this weekend because of the riots. jillian: thank you. todd: the all virtual democratic national convention begins tonight with joe biden and kamala harris set to become the democratic ticket, but president trump isn't sitting on the sidelines. we have a look at the week ahead on the campaign trail. >> we are learning more about where some of the high-profile democrats who have been invited to address delegates will be speaking remotely. >> i'm very honored to have been asked to speak at the convention. i will be speaking with the statue of liberty looking over my shoulder from the brooklyn waterfront. reporter: it won't be a keynote speaker this year instead that comes from 17 people including stacey abrams, conor lamb in birmingham mayor woodmen. they hope to showcase a diverse next-generation of democratic leaders.

also introducing kamala harris to voters who may not be sold on her record as a prosecutor. >> i understand why people are distrustful. of a system that historically has been just-- unjust and unfair to them. i get that. that's why i chose to become a prosecutor. reporter: the president's reelection campaign plans counter programming that sending him swing states this week. harris and biden were this weekend without any public events and they still haven't stood side-by-side to answer questions about how the ticket came together or questions about anything since the big announcement. peter doocy, foxnews. todd: karl rove says the dnc will be a true test for joe biden as he's forced to present a platform. >> biden has been content to stay in the basement and basically prevent defense in
1:33 am
football or basketball, throw it around the edges, run out the clock and his message has been i'm not donald trump. he will have to say this is why you ought to vote for me because of what i stand for. jillian: both campaigns battle it out for the gen z vote and democrats are looking to bernie sanders to rally his young progressive a base around the parties ticket. >> on all of the ideas that we have been campaigning, the progressive movement has been making enormous progress in bringing the people in our direction especially the young generation. jillian: is the left doing enough? conservative trance he activists, thank you for being here. appreciate it. >> good morning. jillian: let's look at this poll this is, the more i hear about joe biden the more i like him. 56% of people disagree,
1:34 am
the gen z america poll. it seems like a lot of the younger voters on the left like what they were hearing from the progressives, the bernie sanders, elizabeth warren's of the world, alexandria ocasio-cortez, just that far left side of the party. is joe biden enough to get them vote? >> there's no question that the gen z was more excited about a bernie sanders who they deem to be more progressive, but i believe gen z are more anti- trump than they may be for joe biden, but they are slated to go in this election more than the previous election. while joe biden and kamala harris may not give them the excitement the progressives do, they realize how important it is to get trump out and i think i
1:35 am
will be enough for them to get in there and vote for the biden harris ticket. jillian: isabel, i think a lot of voters in general will be excited to get out and vote. i don't know that it's necessarily just one side. what to do you think? >> absolutely. something that unfortunately has them and covered much is the fact that gen z is poised to become the most conservative generation in the us history since world war ii and countless studies have proven that to be true. we have grown up with an error generation with countless instances of chaos since 911 to covid-19 so therefore we are looking to presidential leadership that is steadfast and innovative, coming up with solutions to the problems our country has faced and what we are looking for arc not career thought-- politicians. who have been in office far more than twice as long as we have been alive and that's what young voters see with
1:36 am
vice president joe biden jillian: we have another poll of young voters in battleground states, 54% for biden, 30% for trump. we will continue to watch to see the numbers change as we have more time to go. while you are here and quench her opinion on this, there's been a lot of talk of cancel culture and i'm curious as college classes are returning and you will be returning to on-campus learning at least some of them i do you think cancel culture will affect college students? >> cancel culture is shaping the reality of what america looks like in 2020 and as college students had back to campus they are facing on environment that looks nothing like a few months ago when we wrapped up the spring semester. based on my experience as a college's student and interacting with college students every day, it's my prediction that leftist university
1:37 am
administrators will take advantage of the cancel culture and build upon the chaos we have from protests spurred by black lives matter incorporated and mt for two create mark chaos on college campuses. jillian: you are talking about free speech on college campuses. we had many conversations over the course of the last year about different programs and different sources of the studies in different classes offered at campuses and some that aren't offered at other campuses. where you think we will see cancel culture going the share? >> i think we are moving in the right direction because we are having conversations we didn't have in years past. i think college campuses will continue the conversations and they will be a private to empower certain communities with the discussion and transparency about where we are and if that
1:38 am
includes a continuation of the cancel culture i think that's a good thing because we are able to empower or decide not to support communities by putting our money where our mouth is. jillian: if you say you support cancel culture in that aspect, doesn't it take away free speech >> i don't agree that it takes away someone's free-speech. i think the same way there's free-speech, there is the same way we can use our money to put it behind what we believe in and if individuals want to cancel certain businesses are not deal with certain people because of cancel culture, they have every right the same way they have the right to freedom of speech is. jillian: thank you. >> thank you. todd: covid-19 outbreak is causing new zealand to delay its election by four weeks. the prime minister said it will be held in mid-october. the country went 102 days without a new case tell a cluster was found that-- last week.

1:45 am
months the heat of the democratic party really is without far left wing remember, even most of the democratic voters didn't want kamala harris because they thought she wasn't left enough even though she is quite left wing. the risk you run a stolen the numbers and that's in the latest "wall street journal" poll showing 58% of democratic voters are voting for joe biden, not because they like joe biden but because they want to vote against donald trump and in elections you need the push and pull. jillian: lets look at the second part of the tweed on the dnc platform quote, as a party we must push for a future where every resident has the ability to thrive and that means we need a platform to rid oppression and greed. in my view this platform doesn't do enough. let's pull up the 2020 democratic platform including universal healthcare, national standards for police use of force, eliminating carbon power by 2035 and
1:46 am
rejoining the paris climate accord. what you think about the tweet? >> as a republican it seems pretty liberal, but it stresses the far left frustration with the lack of control that they have without party platform. don't let the democratic national committee fool you into-- still not extreme left position. this is the same party that remained silent throughout the defendant police movement another liberal movements. todd: joe biden will not be in milwaukee as we have reported, but the president has a event in wisconsin and minnesota with a busy week of campaigning. is this reminiscent of a bid of 2016 when hillary clinton ignored the cheese estate. will history repeat itself? >> having flashbacks in this cycle.
1:47 am
people saying joe biden has been the back. yes, trump is using his greatest strength of taking his message to the people and again the numbers are show cautionary points for joe biden. biden's positive approval is only in the mid to high 30s. that's not great so even if he is up technically overall now a shift in smart campaigning as donald trump takes his economic message to the swing states could flip the votes back to donald trump causing a win in november. jillian: we looked at the latest poll about biden lead in trump wisconsin and also important to note the 2016 results where president trump one wisconsin by a small margin, so we have time to go, john thomas we know you will be watching the numbers. thank you for joining us todd: all of america votes for puppies. sometimes all it takes

todd: arizona teachers stating a sick out today as classroom was set to reopen. jillian: here with more in the schooling situation and i'm sure you have fired up people on both sides, carly? reporter: absolutely. students at one school district outside of phoenix were supposed to head to class today, but that was canceled after more than 100 teachers called out sick and the superintendent saying in a letter to families that we have received an overwhelming response from staff indicating they don't feel safe returning to classrooms with students. in response we received a high volume of staff absences because of staffing shortages, virtual learning has also been canceled today the president of this teacher association

resigning over the issue saying teachers don't feel safe because their pandemic plan was not adequate saying putting people in a room for eight hours a day, five days a week is a recipe for disaster. if we had a highbred option i would still be there. it was a heartbreaking decision. we spent years of our lives dedicating ourselves billing relationships with coworkers. and no word on when in person classes will resume for this school district. an update is expected today. todd: seems like an appropriate time for our first obvious wordplay of the new week. this gives a whole new meaning to the phrase butler service. jillian: i get it. >> i'm working on my coffee skills. after my career i'm opening my coffee shop right now i'm charging $20 a cup, so if you want some come through. people here can afford
