2:02 am
>> reporter: everyone is talking about the nationwide virtual rollcall with delegates in respective states from american samoa to alabama to las vegas to calamari in rhode island, everyone congratulating joe biden. it is now official. his wife congratulated him from a high school in wilmington as she made the case for the biden harris ticket. >> we just need leadership worthy of our nation, worthy of you, leadership, to reimagine what our nation will be. that is joe. he and kamala harris will work as hard as you do every day to make this nation better. >> reporter: absent from doctor biden's speech were attacks on donald trump. that job was left to former president bill clinton.
2:03 am
>> at a time like this the oval office should be a command center. instead it is a storm center. there is only chaos. one thing never changes, his determination to deny responsibility and shift the blame. the book never stops there. you have to decide whether to renew his contract or hire someone else. >> reporter: interesting moments, alexandria ocasio cortez. what what she would do? she nominated bernie sanders. the rnc pushing back, mercedes schlapp had this to say. >> it was like a bad homecoming party. let's roll out bill, let's roll out john kerry and they don't talk policy. it is all about joe is a good guide. >> reporter: hitting the campaign trail donald trump in the battleground state of arizona blasting his opponent's immigration plan.
2:04 am
>> biden's plan is the most radical, extreme, reckless, dangerous and deadly immigration plan ever put forward by a major party candidate. it must be defeated and it will be defeated on november 3rd. >> reporter: here comes night 3 of the dnc convention. a theme of a more perfect union is a lot of democrats star power from president barack obama to nancy pelosi to senator kamala harris to hillary clinton and elizabeth warren. we will see what they say. todd: thank you. jillian: senator ted cruz points on a major difference between the trump and biden campaigns, republicans have ideas to help the country and he says

democrats don't. >> if this election turns on ideas, substance, policy, what actually works for the country than republicans are going to have a fantastic election in november because our policies work, freedom works, free enterprise works, protecting, securing the border, protecting our homes, having police enforce law and order. all of that works. democrats want this to be a battle of personalities. what they are gambling on, their base hates donald trump and they want it to be a personality battle. it is not even close. >> heavy hitters and others attacking donald trump's record but with a fair assessment? todd: black voices for trump's stacy washington, thanks for being here. these attacks were numerous, sharply worded. let's take a listen. >> a president doing everything
2:06 am
in his power to make it that way. keep it that way. >> the oval office should be a command center. instead, it is a storm center, there is only chaos. >> donald trump has divided our country, diminished our greatness, demeaned everything this statue represents. america, donald trump has quit on you. todd: of course they were going to attack trump but were those attacks rooted in fact? >> schumer on statues, a democrat leader talking about statues and clinton on the oval office, they don't know iron he. i was holding back laughter listening to that. this is an interesting dichotomy for them because as democrats let cities burn they are having an event on production values filled with people talking about essays. they can attack the president
2:07 am
that can't attack him on his accomplishments. he has done more in 3 and a half years than any of them have done, joe biden had 7 years in dc. they are attacking someone because that person has accomplished, donald trump is unmatched in his fervor for the american people, his desire to see everyone not just have a job but still in our economy. we are on the way back up. everywhere you look, like high school bullies, they are attacking him for an imaginary thing. they don't say what donald trump is done that is wrong. they just give euphemisms. i am happy to be the cochair of black voices for trump working every day to reelect the president. jillian: they also don't say what they will do. they are on the attack. expect both sides to be on the attack at this point but everyone, not everyone but people are getting frustrated that we are not hearing much of their plan. a second night we didn't hear much of that.
2:08 am
>> they are taking a page from the hope and change playbook of the obama campaign which was very successful but the reason then candidate obama ascended to the presidency on euphemisms and change was the first black president. he was able to galvanize the coalition of people based on feeling and hope that he would accomplish something. many were disillusioned after voting for him the first time. here we are, joe biden's third presidential run and he is hoping to capture the same kind of fairytale unicorn quality of a campaign where he tells you nothing about what he plans to do and he levels now based attacks on his opponent and just makes you feel like he is the
2:09 am
nicest guy. i don't care about he is nice. i don't want someone nice. i want someone who is accomplished, who has an ability to do things for the american people. there is no one else running besides donald trump who can do that. todd: you hear that with trump supporters. the trump campaign suing new jersey governor phil murphy over mail in voting plans, the postmaster general says proposed changes suspended after the election. with regard to the suit, the latest information we have, what happens in the other 49 states if trump wins? >> this is another attempt to alter in the last minute the process by which we elect the president. if we wanted to make major wholesale changes to our voting system that should be something done in between presidential election cycles, not now. the president has to win all of these so that we have the ability to conduct a fair and lawful election this november. early voting begins shortly. we don't have time for this.
